00:00The Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence Minister, Dominic Smith, tells the TV6 Morning Edition that the government's digital recruitment platform has already received over 30,000 applications.
00:15He tells us no previous administration has achieved such engagement in such a short period, highlighting the Prime Minister's commitment to delivering on her promise to create meaningful employment opportunities for citizens.
00:29We have to take our challenges head on. The Prime Minister has given the directive that, yes, we can't continue to operate as if we've done in the past. We have to be strategic in the way we approach problems and find solutions that really redound to the benefit of the citizens.
00:45Smith was unable to give a definitive deadline for applications.
00:50I would say, in terms of the physical deadline to be at the velodrome, Sunday was an off day because of the holidays.
00:57But in terms of the registration process, it will continue throughout the week. At the end of this week, I think we will take the feedback, we will assess what has been submitted.
01:07And then, as I said, this is a phase one of a multi-phase approach, so persons would receive information from the Office of the Prime Minister and the relevant authorities related to ministries on, you know, what are the next steps.
01:20The minister says these positions are short-term contracts and not permanent. However, he emphasizes that both individuals with and without CVs are encouraged to apply, adding that the government aims to gauge interests and match applications with suitable job opportunities.
01:39Smith says that in the past, many government services were difficult for citizens to access. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence, he says, aims to revolutionize these services and make them more accessible to the public.
01:54Through the Prime Minister's vision, we said, here's what, public administration once was combined with MDT, as they call it, but the new unavailable technology that can really transform or evolve the way in which the public sector works.
02:08And, you know, here comes artificial intelligence. And artificial intelligence, it's a buzzword now, but really, it's sort of the lighter fluid on the technology layers, right? So you have the digital transformation layer, and the artificial intelligence will now amplify the success.
02:24Smith says one of the main goals of implementing artificial intelligence is to reduce costs and streamline services across government ministries.
02:35Let's say you have a health record, right? What does AI do? Well, AI allows us to now look at your health ID and sync that with other ministries. So you go to the health centre, and they have a full profile of who you are and your bio data, and that accelerates the process of service.
