00:00How should artificial intelligence be used in the Caribbean?
00:05What governance tools are there to maximize the benefits while mitigating potential risks to ensure ethical, legal and societal alignment?
00:15Well, the good news is there is an AI governance task force.
00:19The AI task force was created by the CTU.
00:24They went out to countries, they went out to governments in the Caribbean, in the CARICOM.
00:30It's for appointments or nominees of representatives from different countries.
00:36The Caribbean World of Work Forum learned there are 20 to 22 people on this task force.
00:42That task force is split into four working groups.
00:46The idea is that they create these particular governance tool sets, these recommendations.
00:53Of course, you know the control system thing is going to be a major part of it, right?
00:57But they create these particular items and recommendations that will then go into a resolution or ask for a resolution in September 2025, right?
01:11There will be a final committee report in July.
01:15That report is going to show what the guidelines are, what the recommendations are.
01:19And we are thinking, the thought here is to go out for a declaration across the CARICOM member states.
01:27So this is, so for government, if governments really want to, if we want to support this thing regionally, if we want to talk about AI regionally, my recommendation would be to support that process.
01:38You support that process by the consultations that those, the task force members are going to do.
01:44And you are invited to participate by attending any of the four consultations or by submitting papers when the call is made.
