00:00You know, the story of the preseason is going to be Christian Gonzalez's future with the team and obviously with
00:07Drake May coming up.
00:08Let's start with Drake May as this affects Christian Gonzalez.
00:11How much do you think Drake May is going to end up making per year?
00:1570, I think, at least.
00:18So, look, I think you have to look at these things from an inflation perspective.
00:24And when we get there, when we get to next year and he's eligible for a contract for the first
00:31time, Dak Prescott's contract, which is, I think, the last market setter that was a conventional contract.
00:39But Holmes and Allen are different.
00:40Now, if you do the way everybody does this, this is like new money considering an extension, even though they're
00:46really new contracts.
00:47I won't bore you with all those details.
00:49But the actual, like, new money analysis of Allen and Mahomes' deals is over $100 million a year.
00:55You've got to throw those out because there was so much time remaining on those contracts.
00:59So, by the time we get to the next offseason, Dak Prescott's contract is going to be three offseasons old.
01:08So, that's three offseasons of it.
01:09He's making 40, 50, 60?
01:11Yeah, so he's making 60.
01:13I'm going to calculate.
01:14And if I remember, like 75?
01:16Well, so here's the math on it, okay?
01:19So, the salary cap when Dak did that contract was $255 million, okay?
01:30So, if you do the math here, his contract was $60 million per, and that is 23.4% of
01:40the salary cap, okay?
01:41So, the salary cap this year is $301 million.
01:44I think next year it'll be at around $325, $330 million.
01:48Let's say conservatively.
01:50Let's say conservatively it's $325, right?
01:54Then 23.4% of $325 million is $76 million.
01:59Okay?
02:00So, like, if we're just doing it on a percentage basis, now, what you have to remember is that number,
02:06that's not the actual total number of the contract.
02:10Because you're going to be folding the two existing years in.
02:13So, it's going to be the last year of his rookie contract and his option year, okay?
02:19I think if you're Drake, if you're Caleb Williams, if you're Jaden Daniels, you're probably looking and saying, I should
02:25be at set between, presuming they have good years, right?
02:29Like, which is, we'll see.
02:31But presuming they play to their potential, I'm asking for $70 to $75 million.
02:37And it's actually, like, not that far off.
02:40Like, after we had that conversation, I think it was last week, I looked it up.
02:43Yep.
02:43So, SGA, the extension number, was actually over $70.
02:46So, in other sports, we're seeing it, too.
02:49Basketball's a little different because there are fewer players and all that.
02:53But I don't think that if Drake, if Drake, again, is, like, top five for MVP, let's not even run
03:00her up.
03:01Top five for MVP, he should ask for a number that starts with a seven.
03:06I got five.
