Part 2: Between 2024-2025 several MD's have rather abruptly retired or been let go from their jobs at Birmingham Alabama based Grandview Neurology (located off highway 280). The move has forced patients who have been with their doctors for decades to seek services from remaining MD's / NP's unfamiliar with their medical issues (online reviews also indicate some of patients have no options at all, as the remaining doctors in the unit are not open to transfers from the doctors who left).
The reason for the sudden mass exodus is not easy to pinpoint, however their are indicators in online reviews to declining levels of customer service in recent years (ie: see my own case as a patient their in 2019 in hours of videos on my channel).
Additionally, there is some evidence to back up increasing levels of entitlement and privilege being sought & exercised within the neurology suite (I reported in a video in 2023 that the neurology MD's had brokered a deal to go home 2 hours earlier on Fridays. Also you can hear in a recorded telephone call their office staff began giving patients and customer pseudonyms / nicknames and outright refuse to give their real first and last name). These anonymous mouthpieces then go on to talk to patients about brain related medical issues which may cost several hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions to treat. With no names, patients with issues have no recourse if they are misinformed - not a good situation.
Curiously, some MD's listed as having "retired" have taken jobs at other hospitals in Birmingham or have started their own practices across town. Former Grandview neurological doctors Rodney Swillie & Kyle Hudgens are now listed as operating out of an address at 790 Montclair Rd #210, Birmingham, AL 35213. Additionally, Dr. James Strong is listed in some entries for the new Montclair practice but still has an active profile on the official Grandview website as of October, 2025.
According to a review dated August, '25 Some patients were only directed to an office nurse practitioner when their doctor "retired". Strangely, the nurses were later reported to have "retired" also leaving their jobs abruptly. Requests to transfer to the few remaining neurologists were denied as they are said to not be accepting new patients. Phone calls are not being answered or returned in the office and patients who have been with the practice for years report trying to contact Grandview for several months with no response.
00:00For all the details on what happened to me regarding my injury, we're pushing 100 hours
00:05plus of video now. YouTube channel My Medical Nightmare. Alright, update on the neurology
00:11department of Grandview Medical Center located at 3686 Grandview Parkway, Suite 720, Birmingham,
00:20Alabama, 35243. It's located just off Highway 280 near the intersection with 459. My own
00:30visit as a patient with Grandview Neurological Physician Dr. Kyle Hudgens, MD, in 2019 was
00:40an absolute disaster. A $300 cash visit. I received absolutely zero results in this examination
00:48referred by AFC Urgent Care American Family Care. It's enough said. I'll go into the details
00:55on what happened with my visit later on in the video. Recording this October 19th, 2025. There
01:04are rumors now that there's been a major house cleaning of this neurological department and
01:11according to a check of Grandview Medical Center's website, they've lost four neurological doctors
01:18just recently. The exact reason for their departure, apparently not easy to find an answer to.
01:26You look around the internet, one thing that was obvious in recent years, patient and customer
01:32reviews report declining levels of customer service. And at the same time, there is mass evidence of
01:42raising presumptions of entitlement and privileges being sought out and exercised within the neurological
01:52suite. I tried to warn people about what was going on in videos dating back to 2021. As you can hear in
02:01some of my recorded telephone exchanges with the staff of Grammy Medical Center and the neurological
02:10division, I got into arguments with the office staff who apparently no longer give patients and
02:18customers a first and last name but use nicknames, pseudonyms, fake names. Yeah, if I was a neurologist in this
02:27department, I would be ashamed of myself for this highly unethical and unprofessional practice.
02:35I'll start with Dr. Kyle Hudgens, who examined a very serious head trauma-based injury I almost died
02:44from in 2019. Hudgens' picture and profile disappeared from the Grandview Neurology website sometime in
02:532024. As of October 25, there are some reviews out there that mention Hudgens had in fact retired.
03:04However, a new address listing a practice is given 790 Montclair Road Suite 210 Birmingham,
03:13Alabama 35213. Interestingly, also at the 790 Montclair Road address, you'll also find the name of
03:23another retired Grandview Neurological doctor and that's Rodney Swilley, MD. Some info on this new
03:32practice also lists former Grandview Neurologist Dr. James Strong as a member. However, as of this date, his
03:43profile and picture is still live on the Grandview Neurology website. So to those interested, you can get
03:51a cursory impression of the circumstances of the mass exodus at Grandview Neurology by skimming over
04:01the numerous patient reviews. All right, so next review from August 25. I had a stroke back in January. The
04:12problem came with the neurology group. My MP left the practice and I could not get another provider.
04:20Therefore, I could not get imaging done that they told me I needed. I moved to Nashville and found a new
04:28provider, but they need my past imaging and no one at the Grandview Neurology Department will answer the
04:36phone. The machine encourages you to leave a message, but no one calls you back. This has been an issue
04:43since May. If you work in a provider's office, you need to answer your telephones and talk to your
04:50clients. Do not go here. And yet, these critiques are repeated in many reviews in recent years about this
05:00department. There's apparently an apprehension to the office personnel picking up the telephone and
05:07speaking to people. Yeah, it's real funny because up until recently, this was never a problem, was it?
05:14You just call your doctor's office and they'll tell you whatever. This is something that's changed and
05:19this is a very negative development. I believe in my case, my number may have in fact been flagged
05:27and blacklisted or blocked.
05:30Grab the operator, may I help you?
05:32Yes, ma'am. I'm trying to reach the office of CEO Daniel McKinney.
05:35One moment. Thank you for calling Grandview Administration.
05:39I was a patient for Grandview Neurology, Dr. Kyle Hudgens, MD. I called their office yesterday,
05:46September 26, 2023, to discuss billing and service issues that arose during my visit. I had a broken
05:53skull injury I was dying from. I showed the doctor, printed out an x-ray CT MRI showing the injury
06:00clearly. Dr. Hudgens, looking at the same images, told me no injury appeared there. He provided no
06:07useful service in my visit, $265 cash. I would like to inform the CEO that Grandview Neurology staff now
06:16use pseudonyms, nicknames, and false names when dealing with the public. I was hung up on when requesting
06:23a first and last name from the staff I talked to. She identified herself as Ronnie. At the same time,
06:30the representative for the MD make $140 an hour after going to school for 10 years. They request
06:37access to patients' PHI personal health data. They seek to remain anonymous. In my case, this practice
06:44is now being abused because it's being used to conceal negligence and liability. Also, a HIPAA issue is
06:50involved withholding medical records. When I talk to someone about a million dollar health issue,
06:56I'm going to have to have a first and last name for my records keeping before I talk to that person.
07:02That's professional. Your customers and patients who pay you money will not accept this corrupt practice,
07:08and it will one day soon be done away with, mandated by law. So you heard it here first. Still trying to
07:15talk to someone at Greenview about my bill, and you can reach me at that phone number. A little
07:20foreign to talking to you, sir. Hello. I'm trying to reach Ronnie. This is her. Yes, ma'am. I called
07:26yesterday regarding my bill and a visit with the colleges. One second. What's your date of birth?
07:32Okay. Do you have a last name? I'm not giving you my last name, sir. Okay, so you... I'll give you my initial. Okay,
07:39Grandview doesn't give the first and last names of people that deal with the public. I can give you my first name and my last
07:46initial, sir, but I do not give out my last name. No, ma'am. You'll give me your first and last name, or I can't talk to you. Okay, well,
07:52unfortunately, I will not be able to talk to you then. Thank you, and you have a good day.
07:55Thank you for calling Grandview Medical Group Neurology. The office of Drs. Kyle Hudgens, Rodney Swilley, James Strong, Drew Urich, Stephen Suggs, and Natalia B.
