As more patient reviews trickle in, a picture of the situation that existed inside Grandview Medical Group Neurology in the months leading up to a recent exodus of doctors & staff is becoming clearer.
A caregiver for their hearing impaired sister writes in a review posted from 2024: A request for a interpreter for a visit with Dr. Stephen Suggs was initially denied. This is despite the fact that it is standing state law supported by the American Disability Act that the medical provider must facilitate this. The reviewer left numerous phone messages were with office manager "RONNIE" by case worker Shawn who was ensuring compliance that the interpreter would be provided. Calls were not returned and reportedly the caseworker had to visit the Grandview neurology suite in-person to finally arrange this.
I also had an interaction with "RONNIE" of this office (in a recorded telephone call which can be heard in this video) who was using a pseudonym / false name with the full backing & permission of the medical doctors in this office (millionaires who went to college for close to 10 years to do their jobs). My request for a first and last name was denied and I was hung up on rudely when I exposed her scheme. Anonymous mouthpieces like Ronnie were used to talk to patients about brain related medical issues which may cost several hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions to treat.
I believe I am blacklisted by Grandview after I called out MD Kyle Hudgens for choosing not give me service as a patient and customer after paying $300 cash because I revealed my self-pay / no insurance status AND told him I was misdiagnosed by referring MDs / showed him several inch diameter injury visible in my head MRI/CT/XRAY images AND the reports where I was misdiagnosed that stated I had no injuries present in the same images. Hudgens foolishly suggested I do range of motion neck exercises (!?) in print records (my foramen magnum may have been fractured - also visible in images (SEE VIDEO)).
Hudgens should have been a MD of adequate skill to assess my condition but simply stated he could not explain my pain. He foolishly recommended I do range of motion exercises (I may have fractured the foramen magnum of my skull - SEE IMAGES). This MD also withheld medical records in a formal request (HIPAA) - I REQUESTED EVERYTHING - BUT what is listed as "Form 6/12" was not given to me.
Neurologist Kyle Hudgens of Grand View Neurology (Affinity Physician Services) (located off highway 280, Birmingham, Alabama). 6/12/19 visit following a referral in May from American Family Care (despite the radiologist there noting no abnormality, a cloudy oval several inches in diameter appeared in standard x-ray images near the basilar area of my skull / my left side). I paid $256 for this Grandview Neurology (Affinity Physician Services LLC) Kyle Hudgens M.D. visit. The doctor engaged in too much irrelevant small talk.
00:00For all the details on what happened to me regarding my injury, we're pushing 100 hours plus of video now.
00:07YouTube channel My Medical Nightmare, the rise and fall of Grandview Medical Group Neurology.
00:13And we told you in a couple of videos last week how there's been an apparent exodus of neurological specialist doctors and neurosurgeons from this unit.
00:24And it looks like four to five EMDs either retired or let go from the department in about a year's time between 2024 and 2025.
00:35Located just off Highway 280 at 3686 Grandview Parkway, Suite 720, Birmingham, Alabama.
00:42The reason for the exodus, not easy to identify, but declining levels of customer service as well as presumptions of entitlement by the neurological staff are evidenced in customer and patient reviews on the internet.
01:00As more reviews trickle in, we're able to get a better understanding of what happened here.
01:07All right, so here you'll see how these doctors in this office had an apparent blatant disregard for patients with disabilities.
01:18And in fact, these medical professionals were not even aware of the law on the books of the state of Alabama to provide this service.
01:27This review was left for Dr. Stephen Suggs sometime in 2024.
01:33In preparation of my deaf sister's first visit with Dr. Suggs, I requested an interpreter and was told one would not be provided.
01:44It is Alabama state law supported by the American Disability Act that an interpreter be provided either in person or by video.
01:54After numerous phone messages were left specifically with the office manager, Ronnie, by caseworker Sean, who represented my sister to ensure their compliance in providing an interpreter,
02:10it was disappointing that zero return calls were received.
02:14Had the courtesy of a return phone call been provided by the office manager, the caseworker would not have had to take time for an in-person visit to the Grandview Neurological Suite to ensure their education and understanding of ADA compliance.
02:34Ultimately, Grandview Neurology provided a video interpreter for my sister's appointment with Dr. Suggs.
02:42And in this video is mentioned a neurology office manager, Ronnie, which was a pseudonym, false name, or nickname given by someone who worked for Grandview,
02:54another highly unethical and unprofessional practice of this office.
02:59I also had some phone calls with Ronnie, and I'll play my recorded telephone calls with this individual later in the video.
03:11Very rude and highly unprofessional.
03:14What happened to the operator?
03:15May I help you?
03:16Yes, ma'am.
03:16I'm trying to reach the office of CEO Daniel McKinney.
03:19One moment.
03:21Thank you for calling Grandview Administration.
03:22I was a patient for Grandview Neurology, Dr. Kyle Hudgens, MD.
03:28I called their office yesterday, September 26, 2023, to discuss billing and service issues that arose during my visit.
03:36I had a broken skull injury I was dying from.
03:39I showed the doctor, printed out an x-ray CT MRI showing the injury clearly.
03:45Dr. Hudgens, looking at the same images, told me no injury appeared there.
03:50He provided no useful service in my visit, $265 cash.
03:55I would like to inform the CEO that Grandview Neurology staff now use pseudonyms, nicknames, and false names when dealing with the public.
04:05I was hung up on when requesting a first and last name from the staff I talked to.
04:11She identified herself as Ronnie.
04:13At the same time, the representative for the MD make $140 an hour after going to school for 10 years.
04:20They request access to patients' PHI personal health data.
04:24They seek to remain anonymous.
04:26In my case, this practice is now being abused because it's being used to conceal negligence and liability.
04:33Also, a HIPAA issue is involved, withholding medical records.
04:36When I talk to someone about a million dollar health issue, I'm going to have to have a first and last name for my records keeping before I talk to that person.
04:46That's professional.
04:48Your customers and patients who pay you money will not accept this corrupt practice, and it will one day soon be done away with, mandated by law.
04:56So, you heard it here first.
04:58Still trying to talk to someone at Grandview about my bill, and you can reach me at that phone number.
05:04A little forward to talking to you, sir.
05:05Hello.
05:06I'm trying to reach Ronnie.
05:08This is her.
05:09Yes, ma'am.
05:09I called yesterday regarding my bill and a visit with the college.
05:14Hold on.
05:15One second.
05:15What's your date of birth?
05:16Okay.
05:17Do you have a last name?
05:18I'm not giving you my last name, sir.
05:21Okay.
05:21I'll give you my initial.
05:23Okay.
05:23Grandview doesn't give the first and last names of people that deal with the public.
05:28I can give you my first name and my last initial, sir, but I did not give out my last name.
05:32No, ma'am.
05:33You'll give me your first and last name, or I can't talk to you.
05:36Okay.
05:36Well, unfortunately, I will not be able to talk to you then.
05:38Thank you, and you have a good day.
05:40Thank you for calling Grandview Medical Group Neurology.
05:43The office of Drs. Kyle Hudgens, Rodney Swilley, James Strong, Drew Urich, Stephen Suggs, and Natalia B.
