Originally from California, Jules moved to Sweden 4 years ago to finish her master's degree but instead found something so much more than the final part of her education. Jules told Transformed: "I actually moved to Sweden with my boyfriend, who I had been dating for 4 and a half years. It only took 2 to 3 months after I started developing a crush on a female friend of mine. That was the moment for me that I needed to explore, and from that point forward, I started dressing masc and met my now partner Malin". Jules found her true happiness and confidence in her style, but she has encountered judgement because of her masc presenting aesthetic. Jules said: "I get judged I would say on a daily basis, on the way that I look and dress, in specifically female-dominated spaces. There are people who misgender us, make a mistake, and move on from that, and there are people who misgender us but continue to judge. That's when I get emotional, I mean, who are you to tell me where I belong?". 01:50I'm a little nervous, but I think I'm mostly excited because I just reached such a stage

01:58When I was a little kid in the tomboy, I was so interested in the male baggy clothes.

02:03I had an older brother.

02:04I was always stealing his clothes, taking his hand-me-downs, and it wasn't until about

02:08sixth grade when I started dressing more feminine because, you know, my mom is always

02:12like, don't you want to wear this pink shirt or this glittery shirt?

02:15I always felt just uncomfortable.

02:18I felt like a costume for myself and just something I had to put on in order to get people's approval,

02:23basically.

02:24And, you know, you start realizing that you're a bit different from the rest of the girls.

02:27This is like a custom palette, actually.

02:33So why do you want to do this transformation?

02:36I'm so confident in who I am now, as in how I present myself, that I feel open to trying

02:43new things that are so not me.

02:45So about four years ago, I moved here from California to Sweden in order to do my master's.

02:50And I actually moved here with my boyfriend, who I had been dating for four and a half years.

02:54And it only took about two to three months after moving here, where I started developing

02:58a crush on a friend of mine.

02:59And it was the first, like, female crush I had.

03:01And I just, that kind of was just a moment for myself that I realized, no, this is something

03:08I need to explore.

03:09So here I have the MAC concealed and correct palette.

03:15Malin and I met in Portugal three and a half years ago at a surf camp.

03:19And we just bonded and clicked instantly.

03:22She doesn't put dresses on or heels anymore.

03:24She's cut her hair.

03:25We're both masked.

03:26And so it's been a beautiful thing to just kind of explore and grow and become more confident

03:31in our maskedness together.
