She is obsessed with ghosts, vampires, zombies and loves to incorporate all of these creatures into her art and macabre style. Lanie has always been drawn to the darker side of fashion, and her obsession has only grown with age. Lanie told Transformed: "My day-to-day look is a combination of gothic, vampire and Victorian. I truly feel like myself dressing this way even though I stand out from everybody else". Lanie has been on the hunt for a job but has recently realised that her goth style is hampering her chances of employment. Lanie said: "Presenting the way I dress with piercings and tattoos makes it more difficult to find work, so something needs to change!". Lanie actually has a job interview at a local hair salon, but knows she needs help to get the job. Today, Lanie has recruited her cousin Laura and makeup artist Rachel to transform her from a Gothic Queen to a corporate, professional babe to give her the best chance of landing the position! 00:00I love my goth style but it's been causing problems with me finding work so

00:03today I think there needs to be a change. My cousin Laura is helping me by finding

00:07the perfect outfit. Today I've got an interview but will I finally get a job

00:10after my transformation? Three, two, one, what the hell?

00:15Do you think Lainey will get a job with her new look?

00:22Hi! Hello. I'm here to transform you today. Okay awesome come in. Thank you. My name is

00:35Lainey. I love everything supernatural. I love zombies, vampires, ghosts and I like

00:41dressing up as some of those creatures. My day-to-day look is a combination of

00:47gothic, vampire-esque and Victorian. Presenting the way I am with piercings

00:52and tattoos makes it more difficult to find work. I actually have a job

00:56interview later for a hair receptionist position at a hair salon but usually when

01:01I go for jobs like that my external look with my piercings and tattoos kind of

01:05scares them off. So I'm hoping that if I get transformed into something much more

01:09toned down they'll see past that and actually see who I am on the inside.

01:13To help me with my transformation I've asked my cousin Laura to help me find the

01:17perfect outfit but I'm nervous what she's gonna find. Hey. Hey. Thank you for coming.

01:23Of course. So I have a job interview today and I really need you to pick me out an outfit.

01:28Of course I will get you the perfect outfit just wait right here. When I think of

01:32corporate and professional I'm thinking of blazers, skirts, neat hair, neat and tidy,

01:37minimal makeup, minimal tattoos, minimal piercings.

01:48How many different personas do you like to be? I like to put zombie makeup on.

01:54Zombie? And how long have you been dressing up like this? A few years at least.

02:01Before I started dressing goth I used to just wear neutral colors and keep my hair neutral,

02:07blonde, very basic teenage girl clothing because I wasn't really allowed to wear makeup or change

02:12my hair in a permanent way. When I was 16 I think I put my first white base on and did

02:17sort of a traditional gothic look that I'd found on the internet somewhere and I really

02:22enjoyed doing that and I realized that it was something that I wanted to wear more and I found

02:27that the community I made along the way is just something that I really enjoy being a part of.

02:33I felt like I've gone to a point where I can finally express my creative visions in my day-to-day life.

02:41We're just using this Sephora eye cream here. It's an eye tightening eye cream. It's going to soothe the

02:47eyes after removing the makeup and prepping it for the concealer and eyeshadow. So we're going to make you look

02:54very natural but glowy and bringing out your natural features.

03:01This is the Napoleon lip service. It preps the lips for the lipstick. So we'll be going with a nice

03:08natural pink lip to suit your natural lip color. Definitely different to your vampy makeup that we

03:15had on before. Yeah. I have been judged both in public and online for my style, particularly around the

03:23suburban areas of where I used to grow up. I get called out on the street and I get comments on my

03:28page saying, oh you're emo. There's a lot of very hateful pushback. Something I find funny is that

03:34sometimes people will try to discreetly record me but they'll leave the flash on so they'll walk past

03:38me with the camera like this and it just makes them look stupid. They don't even realize what they're

03:42doing. It's hilarious. So this is an actual tattoo cover-up palette from MAC. It's a waterproof

03:50tattoo cover-up. So we basically go with the more orangey tones to cover the darkness and then we

03:57neutralize it with the skin tones. And Lainey's quite light so you can imagine vampires don't get much sun.

04:07Do you ever go out in the sun? No. So we're going to use the Natasha Denona I Need a Nude palette.

04:15We're going for quite a nudey, clean, corporate-y colors to suit her professional look.

04:22And bring out the green in her eyes so anything with a nice pinky peach undertone with a champagne

04:29is quite professional and elegant. I have decided to do this transformation because I would really like

04:34to see what I look like toned down and I hope my employers would like to see the same thing.

04:39We're using the MAC shade in Yash. This is quite a popular corporate shade.

05:21I can't believe that's me. I'm all tanned up.

05:39Because I probably have an extra pale complexion from just not going in the sun.

05:43So I've got nice normal skin, nice normal hair. I've got eyebrows.

05:50I've got nice eyelashes on as well. Oh, I feel so pretty right now.

05:57I think he would not recognize me totally.
