CHILDHOOD sweethearts Dez and Mike have been together since high school, but when Dez was at college, a chance encounter with another woman woke her up to her bisexuality. From that point forward, everything would change for the couple - as Mike told Truly: "She said that she wanted to have a girlfriend and I said, 'I'm cool with that'." And so the couple set out exploring polyamory together. After a few years of fun, just as they were seeking a deeper connection, Mike interviewed for a job and was recruited by Chy. After taking a liking to his new boss, Mike suspected Dez might be interested - so Dez "started coming to the job to peep it out and see who she was." After a period of "flirting" and a "friends trip" all together, the couple had officially become a throuple - but it was not long before they took an even bigger (and unexpected) step. The throuple are the first to admit that they "weren't the types to actually want kids" - so when Chy became pregnant, Dez in particular went through "a season of emotions." Reflecting on her feelings of jealousy at that time, Dez explained: "It was hard, I think a big part of it was trust - thinking, 'Am I loved enough for all of this? Are we ready for all of this?'" The arrival of their first baby sped up the process of Chy officially moving in with Dez and Mike and it was not long before Chy was telling Dez, "Well, looks like you've got to get off birth control, because you're having the baby next!" As it turns out, that is exactly what happened - and not long after Dez became pregnant, Chy was also expecting her second child. The throuple now live with their three children - Skylah (3), Royalle (1) and Mykell (1) - and share the parenting, which Dez sees as a particular benefit: "I don't know how people do one parent in the house!" But after sharing their poly family online, where they are known as The Panda Family, the parents have faced judgement in their comments section. People have called their dynamic "insane", "too much" and have even suggested that their son is already being influenced by his parents relationship and will "think it's okay to have two girls at the same time when he gets older." But as Chy explained, the throuple have a plan to be "transparent" with their children "and just reassure them that we love them and it is okay to be in whatever type of relationship you want to be in." There is still some tension closer to home, though, as Mike believes Dez's mom, Leslie, still has some issues with their family setup. So with Leslie visiting today, will her concerns about the possible impact on the children be addressed once and for all?

00:00My man got his boss pregnant.
00:01Now we're a poly family.
00:03I gave birth to his kids, and then I fell in love with this girl.
00:06Now she's mine, too.
00:08Ow.
00:09How did you feel when Shai got pregnant?
00:11Was there any jealousy?
00:12It was a season of emotions, OK?
00:14I didn't know how to handle it.
00:16People always say that our kids are going to grow up confused.
00:18That little boy going to think it's OK to have two girls
00:21at the same time when he gets older.
00:23So?
00:23I thought my mom was cool with our poly family,
00:26but Mike isn't so sure.
00:27Today, we'll find out.
00:29Do y'all ever worry about how y'all relationship
00:31is going to affect the kids when they get older?
00:36Mommy be shy.
00:38Hey, mama.
00:39Aw, you're making breakfast.
00:41That's so sweet.
00:43Hey, mama.
00:44I'm Mike.
00:45I'm Des.
00:45I'm Shai.
00:46And we're a poly thrupper with three children.
00:48Do you want to eat, Bubba?
00:49I want to eat.
00:50You want to eat, Bubba, kids?
00:51You want to eat, mama?
00:53Say yes.
00:53No.
00:54She's like, no.
00:55Me and Mike met in high school.
00:56We're high school sweethearts.
00:57And it's been 12 years since?
01:00Yeah, 12 years.
01:06We started poly when we was in college,
01:09two or three years after we started dating.
01:11She said that she wants to have a girlfriend.
01:13And I said, I'm cool with that.
01:14There you go.
01:15How and when did you meet Shai?
01:16How did you come to be a thrupper?
01:18He told me there's this girl he thinks I'd like.
01:21She was my manager, actually.
01:22She was my boss.
01:23So then I started coming to the job to kind of peep it out and see who she was.
01:27I was like, OK, I like her.
01:30Go ahead and flirt with her a little bit and see if she's feeling it.
01:37Then we planned a whole friend's trip in order to get closer to her.
01:40We have very, very fun moments.
01:43Yeah, I enjoy it very much.
01:45Our relationship is four relationships, me and Mike, Mike and Shai.
01:50Shai and Mike, and there's all three of us.
01:52We're all in love.
01:53We're all intimate together.
01:54We all sleep together.
01:55Oh, don't mind if I do.
01:57Damn.
01:59We all have three children together.
02:01Shai had the first one, which is Skyla.
02:03And then she also had Mikkel, which is the smallest, our last one.
02:08And then Des had our middle child, Royale.
02:11You can say we weren't the types to actually want kids.
02:15We wanted kids, but like no time soon.
02:19You know how people say don't have kids in the same relationship?
02:22It kind of helped ours.
02:24We all have different parenting styles.
02:26I'm a little rough and then also a little soft at the same time.
02:30Des is just all soft.
02:32Mike, he's mainly the hardest parent.
02:36He's a stricter parent.
02:37It evens out because, you know, the kids need all that.
02:40They need, they need strictness, but they also need love too.
02:46Hello.
02:48Yes.
02:50Good girl.
02:51Des, how did you feel when Shai got pregnant?
02:53Was there any jealousy?
02:54How did you deal with it?
02:56Ah, yes.
02:57The golden question.
02:58When Shai got pregnant, it was a season.
03:02It was a season of emotions, okay?
03:06I didn't know how to handle it at first.
03:08It was hard.
03:09I think a big part of it was trust.
03:11It was feeling like, okay, am I loved enough for all of this?
03:15Is this, are we ready for all of this?
03:17I think over time, once we like realized like the child is coming,
03:21we got to get our together.
03:22We were just like, you know what?
03:25It's going to be okay.
03:26And the first thing she said to me was, she was like, well, looks like you got to get off
03:30birth control.
03:30Cause you're having a baby next.
03:32Were the more recent pregnancies planned or surprises again?
03:36None of our pregnancies were planned.
03:40They all caught us off guard.
03:42Every last one of them.
03:45What was it like being pregnant at the same time as each other?
03:48Oof.
03:49Ooh.
03:50Ooh.
03:51For me, that was the experience.
03:53Dealing with different hormones, you know, different cravings, fighting, yelling, you know,
03:58and then having our first kid there as well.
04:01It was stressful.
04:02I like being pregnant together.
04:03I told her she was going to breastfeed for me.
04:06I rubbed her belly.
04:07She rubbed mine.
04:08I almost didn't want it to end.
04:13Having three parent figures in a family home is beautiful.
04:19I don't know how people do one parent.
04:21Like, oh, kudos to the moms that have one parent in the house.
04:25Having two wives raising kids, it feels like a blessing.
04:28Because, you know, it's double the love, double the care.
04:31And we all helping each other out.
04:33It's like our little village, you know?
04:36When our kids grow up, we plan to be very open about our relationship.
04:40I think they understand that they have two moms and they have a daddy.
04:45And I think that's all they got for him right now.
04:48We're going to be transparent and just reassure them that we love them.
04:51It is okay to be in whatever type of relationship you want to be and be yourself.
04:56Mikey, we want red velvet cake.
05:00Have you experienced any judgment as a result of your relationship?
05:03Oh, yeah.
05:06When we're out in public, we do get stares a lot.
05:08We also get a lot of comments about our relationship online.
05:13Hey, so this is insane.
05:16No, see, this is too much.
05:18The other one we get is, did she get pregnant because she was jealous of having a baby?
05:23Oh, my.
05:24Oh, yeah.
05:24I remember that one.
05:25I was like, F these kids.
05:28What are you talking about?
05:29Nobody's having a baby just because she had a baby.
05:32They even get worse to the point where it's like, best two of them be together.
05:36You're just the second wheel, hun.
05:38I thought it was the third wheel.
05:40Right.
05:42There are also positive ones for people who support our relationship and understand it.
05:47Sounds like the perfect life.
05:49Enjoy y'all's blessing and family.
05:50And another one we got was so much negativity in the comments,
05:54but I guarantee you a lot of the women that got a problem with this have been cheated on
05:58and stayed with their man.
06:00For the people that leave nasty comments, thank you for leaving comments and liking.
06:04Yeah, you're only helping us out.
06:07My mom did express her disagreement with me having kids in this dynamic.
06:15Family is one of those where they love you, but they can have a hard time,
06:21you know, covering up their emotions about it.
06:25Mama!
06:26What's up, mom?
06:28Hi, baby.
06:29Hey, mama.
06:30How you doing?
06:31Everybody's in here.
06:32Mama!
06:34How the baby's doing.
06:35They giving us a run for our money.
06:37I'm waiting for you to take them.
06:41You say that every time.
06:43Ma, what did you think about, you know, when we started dating Shai and
06:47her getting pregnant and everything like that?
06:50Well, first, I thought you was just playing.
06:52I was wondering what was going through your head at that time.
06:55I was upset.
06:56You know, I was mad.
06:57I was angry.
06:58I was like, I don't know who this girl is.
07:00I was just want to know, do y'all ever worry about how your relationship is going to affect
07:04the kids when they get older?
07:06Mom, I think they're going to be all right.
07:08I think there's going to be people that, you know, may judge them and there might be people that
07:13that love it, but we're going to be there for them throughout the whole thing.
07:17They're going to be like, you've only got two parents?
07:20I got three.
07:21How do you feel about our family now?
07:24Now, I'm glad that you're happy and y'all family dynamics, it actually inspires me.
07:31It's just so different, but it's amazing that I'm going to just end it there.
07:36Like, it's amazing.
07:39Y'all got this.
07:40Y'all rock.
07:41Y'all inspire a lot of people and I love y'all.
07:44Oh, we love you too.
07:45I hope to see y'all soon.
07:47What would you say to people who question the way you do things as a family?
07:53You can either get on board or get off the train, honestly.
07:56Oh my baby.
07:57Are we ready?
07:58Hold on tight.
07:59We're going for a ride.
08:01People are so used to things being a certain way and people fear what they don't understand.
08:06I'm very excited for what the future holds for our family.
08:11Being able to just like live and be who we want to be.
08:16Would you all like to add more husbands or wives in the future?
08:20Can you handle more?
08:21We would not like to add no more.
08:23I don't think we can handle it, but I'd be open to it.
