00:00Who left this stupid message?
00:11Was that Rick?
00:13The hospice, funeral director, everybody called like three, four times.
00:16Nothing should be on your desk, everything should be in the files.
00:19Son of a bitch!
00:21You shouldn't have to sit at your job and be so upset you cry.
00:24There's no DL at me like that.
00:26I'm not gonna stay, I can't, I'm not staying here.
00:30I'm not staying here.
00:59Boopie, boopie, boopie.
01:01You gotta get up.
01:03You wanna go skew it up?
01:04Oh.
01:05Rav, are you hungry?
01:07Come on, baby, it's late.
01:08You gotta get up.
01:09Come eat, kiddo.
01:10You're not leaving right now, are you?
01:12No, I'm just looking for my coffee.
01:13I didn't want to drive an hour home last night, so I kind of asked if I could spend the night
01:20here.
01:22You wanna sleep?
01:24Must be nice, huh?
01:26My husband's name is Ron.
01:28We met in 96, and he is a landscape contractor.
01:32Can I go to Kinko's?
01:34Aren't you gonna be anywhere where you can do that?
01:36Um...
01:37I mean, there's Kinko's everywhere.
01:39He thinks about work 24 hours a day, because it's been a little bit difficult getting started
01:43here in San Diego.
01:44Did you put Ramsey's eggs on his plate?
01:47No, I didn't yet.
01:50Ramsey loves Emily's food.
01:52I personally...
01:54Huh?
01:54We eat alcohol up with that one.
01:57You gotta have it wet, right?
01:58No, no.
01:59No?
02:00Okay, all right, fine, fine, fine.
02:01It's very difficult to juggle family and work.
02:04Aw, honey, you don't look like you feel so good.
02:07I just miss being there with him and for him all the time.
02:12Big smile, teeth together.
02:13Bye, give me a kiss.
02:16Bye.
02:17Have a good day, buddy.
02:18Sean, I'll see you later.
02:20All right, let's go.
02:21Come on, we gotta roll.
02:23We need to slow down, Lucy.
02:25Yeah, that'll show it.
02:26They're so cute.
02:27Okay, we'll start with your first word.
02:29Light.
02:30L-I-G-H-T.
02:33Very good.
02:34Might.
02:35M-I-G-H-T.
02:38You're doing a great job, kiddo.
02:39Looks like Mom's gonna have to get you two little presents.
02:43Let's go.
02:47Get your back.
02:50Okay, come on.
02:51If he seems to be coughing excessively, will you please have him call me and I'll just come
02:55get him.
02:55Okay.
02:55By the time I drop Ramsey off, I've driven 200 miles and I know I could alleviate that
03:02stress by moving him to a public school, but I brought him to the school and he just thrived.
03:07It's kind of grueling for a young mother that drives as much as she drives and it causes
03:12her to get frustrated when we're really busy.
03:13Working at the mortuary is very stressful.
03:19She has to generate all the death certificates to bury and cremate these people.
03:23And by law, you can't do it until you have the documents.
03:26Nothing can be done unless I have done my job.
03:30People are constantly saying, what's going on with this certificate?
03:32What's going on with that certificate?
03:33You know, all kinds of crazy things.
03:34I also answer the phones.
03:36I greet people when they first come in.
03:38I like it because it's family.
03:40If I had to do this working for a corporation, no way.
03:45Pretty God, we didn't get any new bodies last night because I'm just not in the mood.
03:48Did we get anything new?
03:51Oh, thank you, Jesus.
03:53Hi, Shauna.
03:55I like working with my family.
03:56That's the biggest part, but I can't really watch what Shauna does.
03:59She's got to be embalmed second.
04:01And it's not so much that it's gross.
04:04It's just, you know, I look at people and think, God, that person was alive two days ago.
04:09It makes you appreciate living.
04:11OK, David, can I have the update?
04:14Dad is doing the three DCs.
04:16I guess so.
04:17John is?
04:18Dearborn.
04:19Oh, he's taking the delivery.
04:21And I'm just finishing up things with families.
04:22Oh, yeah.
04:24As soon as you get the permit there, we'll call the cemetery and schedule it.
04:27Who left this stupid message?
04:30I don't know.
04:31Who's that Rick?
04:33I don't know.
04:34I honestly don't know.
04:35It looks like a handwriting, doesn't it?
04:37I honestly don't know.
04:38A please fax calls sheet to hospice and family called unhappy, no DC sign.
04:47The doctors have to send them causes of death.
04:49Well, cause sheet has been sent about 24 hours ago.
04:52Family, the hospice, funeral director, everybody called like three, four times just here.
04:57The hospice called?
04:58For what?
04:59So they haven't even got a cause sheet.
05:01They just sent me the causes back this morning.
05:03You can look at my faxes.
05:05But what I was referring to is the checks up on top of the cabinet.
05:09I've never known what I'm supposed to do with those.
05:12Nothing should be on your desk.
05:13Everything should be in the files.
05:14Nobody could find that one right there, cause it wasn't in the file.
05:17It was sitting right here.
05:18When I'm waiting for causes, I keep stuff here.
05:20When I'm waiting for signatures, I keep stuff here.
05:23That's the only two places.
05:25As I was explaining, he turned around and walked away from me.
05:28You know, that's rude.
05:29Okay?
05:30If you're interested and you want to know, then listen to what I'm trying to tell you.
05:33And I'm sorry.
05:34It just pisses me off because, you know, yeah, I could use help on a daily basis.
05:39You know?
05:40People help answering the phones when we're busy so I can get my work done.
05:45You shouldn't have to sit at your job and be so upset you cry.
05:51I mean, that upsets me that she's that upset.
05:55That's not what this should be about.
05:57Son of a bitch.
06:09Emily.
06:10Thanks.
06:11I'm sorry.
06:12I snapped at you.
06:13I know you are.
06:14That's all right.
06:15I'm fine.
06:16Okay.
06:18Emily doesn't seem to hold a grudge.
06:20She said, I know you didn't.
06:21Thank you for apologizing.
06:23I don't care what he thinks and how he feels.
06:27I'm not going to stay.
06:28I can't.
06:29I'm not staying here.
06:30I'm not.
06:31You know what?
06:32Him and Missy aren't together anymore, but he doesn't need to yell at me like that.
06:38My life isn't perfect either, but you come to work, you act like it is.
06:41And I feel sorry for him.
06:42I do.
06:43But he's just making it difficult for everybody else.
06:47Emily runs her life based on emotions, so she's either real high on me or she's really angry with me one or the other.
06:54Melissa and I have been so strained for the last few months that, you know, I get frustrated and angry.
07:01Melissa's family is here to pick up her husband's remains.
07:13And she's obviously very upset, so it'll be a tough one.
07:20Here you go, sweetheart.
07:23Here, I'll send this here.
07:26I'm so sorry.
07:30Oh, it's okay.
07:34It's okay.
07:35You stay here as long as you need to.
07:38Let me go in back.
07:39I'm going to see if I can find a, um, sometimes we have little bags, nice little bags where we can put them in, okay?
07:47Hang on just a second.
07:48Let me go back and see.
07:49I just feel terrible.
07:50Oh, my God.
07:51How can you not?
07:52I mean, you know what I mean?
07:54Terrible.
07:55I knew that she was going to be very upset.
08:01I mean, you know, here they were a person one day and now I'm handing her a box.
08:06And that's her husband.
08:08So I'm going to go take this and give it to her.
08:14Here.
08:15Come on.
08:16Here.
08:17Let's put them in here.
08:18Okay?
08:19You just be with people you love and be with people that can help you get through it.
08:25And pray.
08:26You have to have faith and you have to have hope that there's a reason why.
08:30There's some reason why.
08:32I know you can't.
08:33What do you say to someone, you know?
08:35I mean, here I am just the secretary handing her human remains.
08:39I mean, she hugged me and kissed me because she felt like that.
08:44And I'm glad because I don't mind hugging and kissing a stranger.
08:47I mean, you know, sometimes that's the best thing you could ever do for somebody that you don't know, you know?
08:52But it's just, I mean, how terrible, you know?
08:55I'll never forget that.
08:57I will never forget that.
09:04How are you?
09:05Crazy as usual.
09:06How about you?
09:07It's quiet.
09:08I like it.
09:09It is kind of quiet here today.
09:11Yeah, it's perfect.
09:12You don't have any stylists here today.
09:13So what's new?
09:15Melissa and I broke off our engagement right before Christmas.
09:19Uh-huh.
09:20And I've been like a wreck, you know?
09:23And how's she doing?
09:24Yeah.
09:25Oh, she's fine.
09:29I mean, it's a huge issue.
09:31And there's no, you know, I've given her four or five different solutions.
09:36And, you know, it's her issue.
09:38So she's got to work it out her way.
09:43You don't think there's any of you going back?
09:45No.
09:46No.
09:47I mean, all kidding aside, I've just been so upset about this breakup.
09:51I just haven't done anything.
09:52Yeah, it's been.
09:57It's going to be the one.
09:58Yeah, me too.
09:59When something goes wrong, I get in a fight or with my husband or this or that, I think
10:07about all the families that will come in.
10:10They give you the courage and the will to get through.
10:13John, what family is that?
10:15Family from Mary Mantle.
10:16Oh, okay.
10:17Can you seat them in a room?
10:18Yeah.
10:19Do ladies want to come in?
10:20We'll go ahead and seat you in one of the rooms.
10:21All right.
10:22All right.
10:23I only see the families when they come in, because I'm usually the one to greet them,
10:28and I see them when they leave.
10:30More often than not, I see people that are very distraught.
10:34These three ladies, I think, are really the exception.
10:37They traveled down here yesterday from Santa Barbara.
10:40Her aunt had died, and I'm here to help her make the arrangements.
10:43Hi, I'm John.
10:44I spoke with you on the phone the other day.
10:45Oh, yes.
10:46Wow.
10:47That would be her first name.
10:48Yeah.
10:49This was the date of birth, June 28, 1913.
10:52She lived on her own, drove still, which is a little scary.
10:56She says, I don't understand why all these old people drive so slow, because at our age,
11:00you've got to get there quickly.
11:02Plus the fact that her last excursion was a whale-watching excursion.
11:07That was her last trip.
11:09She went to see the whale's mate, which I think is a kick when you're 90.
11:15I wish more people would feel like it's a celebration of their life rather than an ending.
11:20I mean, if I was a funeral director, I might sit down and say, okay, how can we celebrate
11:23this person's life?
11:24She was pretty wild.
11:25She said even as a teenager, she and her girlfriends used to, they would hitchhike and pick up traveling
11:31salesmen.
11:32And she said, they'd always buy us a drink.
11:35So she had a very rich life.
11:37Yeah.
11:38Every day when I leave here, I look at the sky and I'm like, I am alive.
11:43And that is awesome.
11:44Because all day long, I sit there and I take care of people who aren't.
11:49Nice to meet you.
11:51Very nice meeting you.
11:52Nice to meet you.
11:53I still feel like I have a whole lot more living to do.
11:56I want to celebrate my life, whatever it is.
11:58And, you know, I want people to be happy and to, you know, every time they think of me,
12:04I want them to laugh.
12:05I thought it was a sex toy or something that I found in my car.
12:13This came in a happy meal for your grandson.
12:16Your mind is in the gutter.
12:18Oh, no, no.
12:19I found it.
12:20I found it.
12:21You ready, mama?
12:22Yeah.
12:23Okay.
12:24Tonight, we are having a get together, which is something we usually do when Von comes
12:30into town.
12:31Von is my dear son.
12:34He is in law enforcement and he lives in the Bay Area.
12:37We always try to make one night where we all get together and, you know, have drinks and
12:43some food and a little bit of laughs.
12:44We usually only do this when our younger, our youngest brother, our only brother, flies
12:49in from Oakland.
12:51You know that you'll be coming over Emily's, right, tonight?
12:55I'm close with Von, but sometimes he gets crabby and he gets kind of like Chuck.
12:58When they were kids, they used to say, you care for Von more than you do us.
13:02And I'd say, yeah.
13:04And then he'd slap that on him, because that poor kid.
13:09So this will be a nice opportunity for us to just kind of let our hair down.
13:14And we invited Rick and Melissa's sick.
13:17So, you know, it won't be the whole family, but it'll be most of us.
13:22I'm sure it's Von.
13:24Hello.
13:25Did you get Ramsay's haircut?
13:27Why didn't you guys go get haircuts?
13:31You know what?
13:33Okay.
13:34Don't yell at me.
13:35That's fine, but don't yell at me.
13:38Okay?
13:39Tonight's going to be more like a week than a party.
13:44We're looking for an area rug for my bedroom because the carpets are kind of old.
13:50And she's going to give us a deal, right?
13:52$2.49.
13:53$2.49.
13:54Is that what it is?
13:55$2.49?
13:56Okay.
13:57Is that with tax?
13:58No, without tax.
13:59Without tax.
14:00Ron's going to have a fit, but you know what?
14:02If it makes our house look nice, then I want it.
14:04That's the way I circled.
14:05Yep.
14:06Okay.
14:07I am glad I got it, because I really do like it.
14:11Then whose phone would that be?
14:13It's mine.
14:14That's your husband's.
14:15Can you get it?
14:16Yeah.
14:17Hi.
14:18Here, I'll give you Emily.
14:20She gave me the rug, Ron, for $134, and I post-dated the check for three weeks.
14:25I did.
14:26$134, though, it was.
14:31He's an ass.
14:32What did he do, handcuffs?
14:33Oh, what do you think he said?
14:34What?
14:35You better not have bought a rug.
14:36What?
14:37You know, and then he said, how much money did you spend today?
14:39That's the first question out of his mouth every day to me is how much money did I spend?
14:42How about, honey?
14:43Do you have gas in your car?
14:44Yeah.
14:45How are you feeling?
14:46Did you have a nice day?
14:47Oh, I hate him, mother.
14:48I just hate him.
14:53So...
14:54What'd you buy, honey?
14:57It was only...
14:58Ron?
14:59Did she not?
15:00$134.29.
15:01I'm spending money.
15:02I'm not spending money.
15:03Okay, Mom, be careful pulling out.
15:04I'll see you at 6.30.
15:05Adios.
15:06Bye-bye.
15:07Yeah, I think it looks good, huh?
15:08Will you do me a favor, too, Ron?
15:09Will you get me a little split of wine?
15:10What did you forget?
15:11What did you...
15:12My cigarettes.
15:13What?
15:14Why are you talking to me like that?
15:15Because you're...
15:16What?
15:17What did I forget?
15:18Dad?
15:19Dad?
15:20What did I forget?
15:21What did you...
15:22My cigarettes.
15:23What?
15:24Why are you talking to me like that?
15:25Because you're...
15:26What?
15:27Dad?
15:28What did I forget?
15:29What?
15:30Dad?
15:31I just ignored him, because I don't get in fights with him anymore.
15:34I refuse to, because I'm not fighting.
15:37You know what I mean?
15:38If I cared, I would fight.
15:39But I don't, so it's just like, okay.
15:41I know what Ron is going through, and I also know what Emily is going through.
15:46And it's not fun.
15:49He loves Emily.
15:50I know he does.
15:51And I know he doesn't want her to, you know, leave him or anything.
15:54But he's such a up, I guess.
15:56And I understand that thoroughly.
15:59If I've had a bad day, I could bring it home.
16:01You know, I try not to.
16:03You know what I mean?
16:04But...
16:05In general, I'm a moody person.
16:07I'm a moody person.
16:08Emily's a great woman.
16:10I love my wife.
16:11And, you know, we've had ups and downs.
16:13And we've stuck through it all.
16:15We're sticking through it all.
16:16Hi, baby girl.
16:17How are you?
16:18Give me a kissy.
16:19Mwah!
16:20So, what's happening?
16:22Our relationship is kind of rocky right now.
16:24It doesn't seem like we can resolve the issues that needed to be resolved.
16:28I mean, I can go back to school, and I can do it on my own.
16:30I will.
16:31Are you crazy?
16:33Yep.
16:34You know it.
16:37She's just got to be grateful to what she has, you know?
16:42I can't wait to see my baby boy.
16:44Are you kidding?
16:45It's really nice, you know?
16:46That's what I say.
16:47It's so cool to have a family like I have.
16:52Hello?
16:53Okay, I'll push the button.
16:55You ready?
16:56You ready?
16:57You ready?
16:58You ready?
16:59You ready?
17:00You ready?
17:01Okay.
17:02That's what I said.
17:03What time did you guys get in?
17:05I don't know.
17:06Two or something.
17:07Two?
17:08Oh, that's not bad.
17:09You were okay?
17:10You all right?
17:11Yeah.
17:12Yeah, I'm doing great.
17:13Oh, I forgot my watch.
17:14Watches are overrated.
17:16Chuck and my brother Von are very similar in temperament.
17:20They're both quick to react and that kind of troubles me sometimes because they both have such a hair-trigger temper.
17:29Hey, Rick.
17:30How are you doing?
17:31Good to see you.
17:32Good to see you.
17:33How's it going, Rick?
17:34You take it to Sue and-
17:35I can see you for just a second.
17:36Okay, you bring in Sue and-
17:37Sue asked me to come get her.
17:38Oh, okay.
17:39What's up?
17:40He can't drive a car, period, under any circumstances.
17:43I've told Melissa 20 times not to let anybody drive him.
17:45Okay, so-
17:46So can you put it into an illegal parking place and just leave it?
17:49Uh, yeah, I guess, uh-
17:51Hey, Von.
17:52Yeah, it's a yellow zone.
17:53It's fine.
17:54It's a tournament zone.
17:55If the curb's yellow, it's fine.
17:57It is?
17:58Yeah.
17:59If it gets towed, you're gonna have to deal with it.
18:00Yeah, that's fine.
18:01Well, it's not my car, man.
18:02No, no, no.
18:03If it gets towed, I'll-
18:04It's not.
18:05You know what?
18:06He can't drive a car.
18:07He's not driving it.
18:08What's he gonna do?
18:09He's getting my insurance.
18:10All right.
18:11That's good.
18:12I'm sorry, man, but I-
18:13I can't take that kind of a risk when you know insurance.
18:15It's Melissa's car.
18:16It's a company car.
18:17It's not his.
18:18I can drive it.
18:19John can drive it from work.
18:20And so can the girls.
18:21It's just a company car.
18:23He's just being a prick.
18:24That's all.
18:25He's pissed off because Melissa's gone.
18:26See, now my night is ruined.
18:28I'm sorry.
18:29I'm already unhappy.
18:32Enough drama, huh?
18:36I swear.
18:37And then he plays this .
18:40Yeah.
18:41Like, nobody can drive that car.
18:43He went up to Vaughn and said that.
18:49Well, Mom, this can't happen.
18:51Either he can't, he has to go.
18:53Mother, go tell Shawna right now.
18:56Okay.
18:57In the bathroom.
18:58Oh, my God.
18:59Rick went to pick up Mom, saw the Saturn at Mom's house,
19:02and went up to Vaughn and said, I don't want you driving that car to Vaughn.
19:08Help me figure out what we're going to do because he can't be here.
19:12Rick, how are you?
19:13I'm good.
19:14You look nice.
19:15I'm good.
19:16Okay.
19:17No.
19:18Hi.
19:19How's it going?
19:20I have a...
19:21Want a glass of wine?
19:22Yeah.
19:23Or a margarita, glass of wine?
19:24Okay.
19:25Here you go, right?
19:26Thanks, sweetie.
19:27I'm going to run to the potty real quick.
19:28I just had a feeling that Rick or somebody was going to say something funny.
19:32He gave that car to Melissa, okay?
19:35If Jesus Christ wants to drive it, they can.
19:37I don't care who he is.
19:39He had no business saying that to my brother, okay?
19:41And I'm surprised Vaughn didn't haul off and knock him out.
19:45But the night is young.
19:47This is the smallest balcony in the world, and it's the steepest stairway.
19:50Hi, guys.
19:51Don't give me no hugs, you.
19:52What's up, brother?
19:54Whoops.
19:55Where did you get that?
19:56Go, Chris.
19:57How are you, man?
19:58How's it going, buddy?
19:59Good.
20:00You look good.
20:01Bob, you cut your hair.
20:02Mmm.
20:03Hi.
20:04What's up, Papa-san?
20:05All right.
20:06Just a little.
20:07How are you doing?
20:08I'm good.
20:09Okay.
20:10Yeah.
20:11You're still lean.
20:12Yeah.
20:13It's fine.
20:16I'd much rather be at home on my couch.
20:20That's a cannoli.
20:22I met a lady at Felipe's.
20:24She doesn't know how to handle with it.
20:27And you do.
20:29Well, yeah, I got married to your daughter.
20:33Yeah, well, good luck, man.
20:35Good luck.
20:36Do you want any beans in it?
20:38Sour cream, guacamole, or tomatoes?
20:40When I was growing up, I wanted to get married and have kids and be married happily ever after.
20:45That's all I ever wanted.
20:46And it's just not turning out that way.
20:49But I still think my possibilities are endless, even though I'm 35.
20:52I really don't know what I want to do with my life.
20:54Okay.
20:55All right.
20:56All right.
20:57All right.
20:58All right.
20:59All right.
21:00I feel like I have yet to do what it is I was supposed to do.
21:04And I don't know what it is, and I don't know where, but there's something.
21:08You know, I think just things are only going to get better for me.
21:11And then, I feel like I am good at hiding so I can try to fetch myself too.
21:18I don't want the key.
21:21You want to cut過來 to my friend.
21:22I will try part three.
21:23Have a nice試합 for years.
21:24I'll take them all five minutes to tell them.
21:26Oh God.
21:28Bye-bye.
21:29Oh God.
21:32Wow Gabriel.
21:33Oh my God.
21:34Bye-bye
21:41You
