00:02 Chesterfield Borough Council's Chief Executive has formally rolled out newly revised multi-million

00:07 pound plans for a town centre improvement scheme in Staveley, aimed at attracting more

00:12 people, creating jobs and raising the town's profile.

00:16 The Council's Staveley 21 project for the town centre and its marketplace is one of

00:20 many projects tied to the government-funded £25 million Staveley Town Deal Regeneration

00:25 scheme.

00:27 Chief Executive Hugh Bowen has now revealed that the Staveley 21 project has secured £6

00:32 million of further funding, which mean the development plans for the high street and

00:36 marketplace are now being upgraded.

00:38 The project includes plans for a new commercial centre, plans to rejuvenate the high street

00:43 with the shopfront improvement scheme, new pavement and public realm, and there are also

00:47 plans for improved connections between the canal and the town centre.

00:53 Chesterfield Town Centre's Wilco branch will close its doors for the last time next

00:57 week following the chain's collapse.

01:00 High Street brand Wilco entered administration last month and, after a rescue deal led by

01:04 HMV owner Doug Putman fell through, all of the stores are set to close by early October.

01:10 A number of Derbyshire locations have already shut down, including those in Belper, Long

01:15 Eaton and Allestry.

01:17 Staff at the Chesterfield store on Vicar Lane have been informed by administrators, PWC,

01:22 that their branch will close permanently on Sunday October 8th.

01:26 The Chesterfield location is among the last across the whole country to close its doors

01:30 for the final time.

01:32 Three Derbyshire stores are set to be turned into Poundland shops after a deal to buy 71

01:37 of the branches was agreed with Pepco, with branches in Alfredton, Matlock and Ripley

01:41 included in that agreement.

01:43 B&M has also bought 51 Wilco stores for £13 million, but the location of these stores

01:49 has not yet been revealed.
