00:00Long ago, a little baby boy named Mus'ab ibn Umair was born in one of the richest tribes

00:14of the Quraysh in Mecca.

00:17When Mus'ab was a little boy, his father died and left lots of money, assets and properties.

00:27So Mus'ab became very rich from his childhood.

00:33To understand how much money Mus'ab had, if you took all the money from the people of

00:41Mecca, little baby Mus'ab had half of all that money to himself.

00:50Unfortunately, Mus'ab was so rich, he was like a famous celebrity of Mecca.

00:58One day Mus'ab heard about Prophet Muhammad's message.

01:05At that time, the Muslims would secretly meet at Darul Arqam and many of them were really

01:11poor.

01:12But Mus'ab knew that the Prophet Muhammad was an honest man.

01:20So instead of making fun of him like all the other rich people of Mecca, Mus'ab decided

01:27to talk to the Prophet because he had some questions.

01:31When he came in, all the Muslims were shocked.

01:36But they welcomed young Mus'ab and the Prophet helped him understand Islam.

01:45And right away, he decided to become a Muslim.

01:50From that moment, every night he secretly went to Darul Arqam to learn more about Islam.

01:56But one day, a spy saw him and told Mus'ab's mother.

02:02Mus'ab's mother became very angry.

02:08She decided to chain him in his own house and hid him from his own family.

02:15One day Mus'ab heard that a group of Muslims were planning to escape to Abyssinia, which

02:23is modern day utopia.

02:25Mus'ab also planned to escape.

02:30He waited until the guard fell asleep and broke his chains and traveled to Abyssinia.

02:36In Abyssinia, he got married to Hamanna, who was the future sister-in-law of the Prophet.

02:43After some time, the Quraysh started a rumor to trick the Muslims to come back to Mecca.

02:50This time when Mus'ab met his mom, she told him that if he did not leave Islam, she would

02:58take away everything from him.

03:01But Mus'ab stayed strong to his faith and did not leave Islam.

03:07So he became very poor.

03:10He had no money, no clothes, no shoes, nothing of his own.

03:17Since he did not have proper clothing, he had sores all over his body.

03:23Other Sahabas felt very bad for his situation.

03:26Many years passed by and 11 years after Islam came, a small group from Medina came for Hajj.

03:34They liked the Prophet's message and wanted him to come to Medina with them.

03:39But the Prophet could not leave without Allah's permission.

03:46So Prophet Muhammad chose Mus'ab as Islam's first official ambassador.

03:55So he could go to Medina and spread Islam.

03:58Mus'ab was doing such an amazing job that many, many people in Medina started to become Muslims.

04:09In Medina, there were two big tribes or groups, the Aus and Khazraj.

04:15The leaders of those tribes got really worried.

04:19They were trying to stop Mus'ab and ordered him to leave Medina.

04:25But Mus'ab did not leave Medina.

04:29So one of the tribe leaders decided to kill him.

04:33But Mus'ab was very nice to him and nicely asked him to put down his weapon.

04:40Then he explained to him about Islam.

04:43And right away, with Allah's blessing, the leader became a Muslim too.

04:50The other tribe leaders also wanted to kill him.

04:53Seeing the beauty of Islam, he also became a Muslim.

04:58Now before Islam came, the two tribes would always fight with each other.

05:03But after both of the tribe's leaders became Muslims, their fighting stopped.

05:09And more people from the tribes also quickly started to become Muslims, making Medina Muslim

05:14majority for the first time in history.

05:19Exactly one year later, Mus'ab met the Prophet again during Hajj time.

05:25And this time, he brought 75 Muslims from Medina to Mecca.

05:31The Prophet was so surprised that Mus'ab did his job so well.

05:40At this point, the Muslims in Medina knew that in Mecca, the Quraysh were extremely mean to

05:46the Muslims.

05:47So they wanted the Prophet and all the Muslims to come to Medina.

05:52They also promised to protect the Prophet and all the Muslims.

05:57This meant that finally, after so many years, the Muslims got their safe place to follow

06:03Allah's law and order because of Mus'ab .

06:10So little by little, the Muslims secretly went to Medina.

06:14And because of Mus'ab , when it was finally time for the Prophet to come, the entire

06:23town of Medina was so excited to see him even though many of them had never seen him before.

06:31Mus'ab was so special that during the battlefield, the Prophet chose him to hold the Muslims flag,

06:39which was a very special honor.

06:41And during the battle of Uhud, when the Muslims got in trouble, Mus'ab quickly waved the Muslim

06:48flag in front of the enemies to distract them to protect Prophet Muhammad .

06:55During that battle, when the Quraysh spread the rumor that the Prophet had died, Mus'ab

07:01, who encouraged the others to continue fighting for the truth.

07:07Since he was in front of the battlefield with the flag, the bad Quraysh cut off his hand.

07:12So he held the flag with his other hand, but they also cut off his other hand too.

07:17And even though he was in a loss of pain, Mus'ab decided to pick the flag up with his teeth.

07:25The bad Quraysh kept on hurting him with spears and swords until he finally died.

07:31The bad Quraysh were not satisfied, so they started to chop off different parts of his body.

07:37After the battle ended, when the Prophet saw Mus'ab , he started to cry.

07:45Mus'ab died in such a terrible way, but still the flag that the Prophet gave him was still

07:52in between his teeth.

07:54When the Muslims were trying to bury him, his legs were sticking out because he was so poor,

07:59he only had half of a cloth.

08:01So they used lemon grass to cover up his body.

08:04When he died, the only thing he had was just one bowl that he used for wudu and showering.

08:10Mus'ab ibn Umair , the famous rich boy who had everything that anyone could ever want,

08:18but gave it all away for Islam.

08:21He knew that this world is only a test and he was happy to sacrifice everything to please

08:27Allah .

08:30His faith in Islam was so strong that he became the world's first Muslim ambassador and was

08:36able to make Madinah into the world's first Muslim majority city within only one year.

08:43He created Madinah as a safe place for the Muslims during the most difficult time of Islam

08:49and saved the Muslim Ummah from the evil Quraysh.

08:53The Prophet Muhammad was so pleased with him that Mus'ab had one of the highest honours

09:02of carrying the Muslim flag in the battlefield.

09:04And finally, Mus'ab's story teaches us that if we are a true Muslim, we should be willing

09:13to sacrifice everything for Islam because at the end of the day, this world is a test

09:20and only temporary, and what truly matters is the hereafter.
