00:01Ignored for 50 days
00:04This story is from Sahih Muslim, the Book of Repentance.
00:08Long ago, during the time of Prophet Muhammad ,
00:12there was a very important battle called the Battle of Tabuk in the ninth year of Hijri.
00:19It was against the powerful Byzantine or Roman Empire.
00:23The Romans were one of the strongest armies in the world at that time.
00:29So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, told all healthy men to join him on this journey.
00:35It was a very difficult journey because the weather was extremely hot,
00:41and the journey was very long.
00:44They had to cross the desert with very little water and food.
00:49You can see the full story in our Prophet Muhammad's Life Story, Episodes 51-53.
00:57Even though it was very tough, many Muslims prepared for the journey because they wanted to help the Prophet.
01:05Among the Muslims was a man named Qab ibn Malik.
01:09He was a very good Muslim and had joined the Prophet in many of the battles before.
01:15But this time, he made a mistake.
01:18Qab ibn Taala was rich and healthy, and he had everything he needed to go to battle.
01:24In fact, he even had two camels to ride, which was more than what most people had.
01:29But he kept delaying his preparations.
01:32He thought, I'll get ready tomorrow.
01:35But then the next day came, and he said the same thing.
01:39The Muslim army left without him, and Qab ibn Taala thought about catching up,
01:45but every day he kept delaying until it was too late.
01:50The Prophet, peace be upon him, and his army was already too far away.
01:55Qab ibn Taala felt very bad.
01:58He noticed that the only people left behind were those who were either too sick to travel,
02:05or those who were hypocrites.
02:07After 50 days, the Muslims successfully returned to Medina during the month of Ramadan.
02:14One by one, all the hypocrites gave their excuses to the Prophet of why they did not go to Tabuk.
02:22Qab ibn Taala became very nervous.
02:25He thought about making an excuse too for why he did not go.
02:30But then he told himself,
02:32If I lie, maybe the Prophet, peace be upon him, will accept my excuse.
02:37But Allah knows the truth. I must be honest.
02:41When the Prophet, peace be upon him, asked why he didn't go, Qab ibn Taala replied honestly,
02:48O Messenger of Allah, if I was talking to anyone else, I could have made up an excuse.
02:55But I know that if I lie today, Allah will expose me.
03:00The truth is, I had no good excuse. I simply kept delaying.
03:06The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that Qab ibn Taala had told the truth and told him to wait for Allah's decision.
03:15Two other good Muslims, Murara and Hilal, peace be upon them, had also stayed behind without an excuse.
03:23As a punishment, no one could talk to the three men.
03:27Whenever they would go to the market or masjid, people would ignore them, including family members.
03:35It was very lonely and painful.
03:38When one of the Roman leaders came to know about that situation,
03:43he sent one of his people to Qab ibn Taala with a letter to leave Islam and come to his kingdom to become a Christian.
03:52The king also promised Qab ibn Taala the highest honor and a good life.
03:58Qab ibn Taala did not like that evil proposal.
04:02He immediately threw that letter into the fire.
04:07Day and night, the three men asked Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to forgive them.
04:1350 days passed.
04:16Qab ibn Taala was sitting on his roof after Fajr prayer when he heard a man shouting,
04:23O Qab, O Qab, good news! Allah has forgiven you!
04:28Qab ibn Taala immediately fell to the ground in sujood, thanking Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
04:36People rushed to congratulate him.
04:39He quickly put on his best clothes and ran to the Prophet peace be upon him.
04:45The Prophet's face was glowing with happiness because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sent verse 118 of Surah Tawbah,
04:54saying that he had forgiven Qab, Murara and Hilal peace be upon them all because they told the truth and repented sincerely.
05:03Qab ibn Taala was so grateful that he donated a lot of his money and made a promise to always be honest no matter what.
05:13This story teaches us that we should always tell the truth even when it is hard.
05:20Lying might seem like an easy way to avoid trouble.
05:24But in the end, it only causes more problems.
05:28Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala loves people who are honest and rewards them in this world and the hereafter.
05:36If we make a mistake, we should not lie to cover it up.
05:41Instead, we should ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for forgiveness because he is always ready to forgive.
05:50This story also teaches us to not delay important things because waiting too long can make us miss great opportunities.
06:00It reminds us to stay strong in our faith even when others turn away from us because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is always watching and taking care of us.
06:11May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala help us to be honest and follow his guidance. Ameen.
06:18Get countless of rewards during the month of Ramadan by giving a one-time donation or becoming a monthly supporter.
06:28And inshallah Allah will give you the highest reward to you and your family in this world and the hereafter.
06:37Zazak Allah and we pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that all of you are safe during this time.
06:45And until next time, Asalaamu Alaikum.
06:52Asalaamu Alaikum.
06:58Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
