00:00Game we're going to take a look at first, 12.45 p.m. Eastern, 163-164 on the rotation.
00:05Saturday, Washington State versus Ole Miss.
00:07I don't even know what conference Washington State plays in anymore,
00:10but a heavily favored Ole Miss team.
00:12Look at number 34.5, dropped down a little bit to 31.5,
00:16but a total still of 57.5.
00:19Ole Miss out in these streets taking on Washington State.
00:22This ain't the Apple Cup, man.
00:23What's going on here?
00:25Well, it's funny, Donnie, because the reason I brought this game up
00:28is that there are only maybe two or three coaches
00:33that you should ever trust laying this kind of number in college football.
00:38And, you know, one of them, Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss, okay?
00:42That is the guy that you absolutely want to trust to be able to get it done here.
00:47Now, you've got Kiffin now 32.5, 31.5 point favorites over Washington State,
00:53who has been absolutely destroyed by any team in one of the Power Four conferences here.
01:00You've got a dangerous letdown spot here, right?
01:04A couple of, what is this, two weeks after beating LSU?
01:07Could be a look-ahead spot in anticipation of a trip to Georgia next week.
01:12All those things may come into play, but the one thing that will not come into play
01:16is Lane Kiffin will not take his foot off the gas.
01:20My numbers, Donnie, have Ole Miss favored by nearly 41 points here.
01:25I got no problem.
01:27He loves running up scores.
01:30His team is 18-5 against the number in non-conference games
01:34in his five seasons in Oxford.
01:37Do not be worried about this big number.
01:40Get it done, Lane.
01:41He usually does at this price.
01:44Getting it done in the SEC.
01:46Well, Ole Miss not in the SEC this weekend,
01:47but I'll tell you who is in the SEC this weekend.
01:49It's Florida and Texas A&M Saturday night at 7 p.m.
01:52Opening line 7-1⁄2 still sits today as a favor towards A&M at 7-1⁄2.
01:57A total of 47-1⁄2 listed.
01:59The Gators, can they pull off another upset here on the road against A&M?
02:04The spread line for this game is what, Joe?
02:07Well, it's the total that's interesting in this one, Donnie,
02:10because it opened up at 46-1⁄2.
02:12And this one has the public running to the window to bet the over like they usually do here.
02:20But as of just 24 hours ago, I saw 81% of the bets backing the over in this game.
02:27And, well, when you look at what we've got here,
02:30we've got two of the most talented and athletic quarterbacks here in the game.
02:34And Marcel Reed for A&M and DJ Lagway for Florida when he's actually not throwing it to the other team.
02:40His team is 5-0, that being Marcel Reed, 35 points per game.
02:46Even though Lagway has had his struggles early on in the season,
02:49we just watched what they could do against Texas, right?
02:52He threw for almost 300 yards at a win.
02:54Call me crazy, but these offenses more than capable of having big days with these quarterbacks.
03:01To me, call me nuts here, Donnie.
03:03This has got 50, 55 points written all over it.
03:07It is college football.
03:08I don't think the defense is coming to play here.
03:10I think it's all about the offenses.
03:12Show up, DJ Lagway.
03:14Let's go.
03:15You know what else is going to continue to show up?
03:16The Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
03:18They take on NC State on Saturday afternoon at 3.30.
03:21A heavy favorite listed between 23-1⁄2 and 22-1⁄2,
03:24depending on where you're shopping at.
03:25And also, a total, which opened up at 62-1⁄2, has been bet down to 58 and 58-1⁄2,
03:31depending, once again, on where you're shopping.
03:33I love Notre Dame.
03:34They're on a charge of the playoff.
03:36But the spread line for this week's Notre Dame-NC State game is what, Joe?
03:40Well, you're not alone in loving Notre Dame here, right?
03:42Because those odds, Donnie, certainly reflect how good that Marcus Freeman's team has been to this point,
03:49especially offensively.
03:51But you've got to wonder, should we be concerned about laying this many points to a Power 4 team
03:57after Notre Dame, by the way, failed to cover as a 21-1⁄2-point favorite last week over a G5 team?
04:04Well, consider North Carolina State, Donnie.
04:06This is a big stat here.
04:084-13 against the number in non-conference games in the last three seasons.
04:14Meanwhile, Notre Dame, 7-0 straight up.
04:17And against the spread, hosting ACC teams, if they are a favorite, Donnie, in this price point.
04:23So, to me, Notre Dame is a 22-1⁄2, 23-1⁄2-point favorite for a reason.
04:29Don't be scared off by this price.
04:31Right back here on the early line on a football Friday.
04:34It's go time, as we like to say.
04:36An exciting weekend all the way through.
04:38It's Donnie Wright's out.
04:39It's Joe Renier.
04:39And we've got to bring in the coach.
04:40He's Terry Bowden.
04:41We've got so many good games to go after.
04:44And, Coach, it looks like you're on location.
04:46Where is this location?
04:48I had to come down.
04:49It's Auburn, Georgia.
04:51I'm in Auburn, Alabama, for the oldest rivalry game of the South.
04:561893 was the first game.
04:58I coached in the 100th.
05:00And you know what?
05:00The last time I was here, I was a coach for Auburn on the sideline.
05:04And Kirby Smart was on the field playing for Georgia.
05:08I'm an old man.
05:08Look at that.
05:09Coming full circle.
05:11Football royalty here.
05:13What was the final, Coach?
05:14Did we blow them out?
05:15What was the final?
05:16No, we were way underdogs.
05:19And we didn't.
05:19I can't remember the score.
05:21It was like 42-28.
05:23We had a good win.
05:25That may not be the right score.
05:26Real close.
05:27I like that.
05:28By the way, we're talking about high scoring, Coach.
05:30We had a week off.
05:31We had a week off.
05:31We got the bye week.
05:33Ready to go.
05:33We had a bye week.
05:34And we pulled some stunts on them.
05:37There you go.
05:38How about some stunts here?
05:39Two head coaches that love to get in the media and tell you how good their football team is, Coach.
05:43Coach, Indiana and Oregon.
05:45Seven to seven and a half point favorite here for Oregon here.
05:47Coach Sieger, you know very well, traveling out to Oregon.
05:50No shame in his game.
05:51He'd run up the score if he'd love to.
05:53And also on the opposite side, Oregon loves to do the same things.
05:56What a great football game on deck and a Big Ten football game, which sounds odd to say.
06:01Coach, Indiana, Oregon.
06:02Let's go.
06:02Yeah, it's one of my – it's not the favorite of the week.
06:06It's right up there.
06:08But both coaches have the – they can justify talking about their team.
06:11Two great football teams.
06:12This is not contender versus pretender.
06:14They're both contenders.
06:15And I think if Indiana does lose the game, and I think they will, they'll still be in the playoffs, I believe.
06:21But this is a chance of a team of where – or, and first of all, the home field advantage.
06:26People who've never been to Allison Stadium, Allison Field, don't even know how big that game is and how much difficult to win there.
06:33They've got, what, a 18-game home winning streak.
06:36I think it's 18 home winning streak, 23 straight.
06:38So that right there is one of the reasons they're going to win.
06:42But I think their secondary, one of the best in the nation, if not the best, will be a – will be hard for Indiana to crack.
06:49They're both outstanding on offense, both outstanding on defense.
06:53It's Indiana, really, it's their running game that's got to be stopped by Oregon.
06:57Oregon's got to make sure their defense plays great in the secondary.
07:00When it's all said and done, I think Oregon wins this one and covers.
07:06I think I got to Google Cignetti.
07:08I heard he's pretty good.
07:09Coach, Mizzou has had two weeks off to prepare for this game.
07:14And I say that because they had to play UMass.
07:17And let's face it, that was a week off here.
07:19But am I crazy, or is Ty Simpson turning into one of the best quarterbacks in the country here?
07:27Yeah, I think one of the factors of this game, he's gone from unknown to Heisman candidate.
07:31He reminds me of C.J. Carr at Notre Dame.
07:35He just has a way of playing solid football, and that's what he does so well.
07:40And with the talent that Alabama has, if they just get solid performances out of him, don't turn the ball over, manage the offense, hit open receivers,
07:47I think that's what you got to do with the great athletes they have at running back and wide receiver at Alabama.
07:54I do think Missouri forever is kind of like Indiana.
07:57Nobody gives them credit for how good they are and how well they've played, but they will play well.
08:03But, however, when it comes down to it, I really think Alabama's got a little bit too much for them.
08:07I think the streak stops today with that.
08:09I think they've got their own home winning streak.
08:12In fact, they've played at home, I think, every game this year so far.
08:15But Alabama's got more talent, and Alabama will come ahead, and we'll see Alabama win and cover in Missouri.
08:23Great game in the SEC, Coach.
08:25Let's flip it back over to the Big Ten.
08:27On the road, Ohio State's the number one team in the country.
08:29Two touchdown favorite over Illinois in Champaign.
08:32What are we thinking about Ohio State and Illinois, Coach?
08:35Well, two really good football teams.
08:38You know, I love this game, too.
08:40Illinois's made a great comeback after that 63-10 loss to Indiana.
08:45They came back with a walk-off field goal to beat Southern Cal.
08:48Ohio State's just getting better and better and better.
08:52I think everybody knows how good they are talent-wise.
08:55They're explosive on offense with receivers and Bo Jackson at running back, and that's not the Auburn Bo Jackson.
09:01That's their own.
09:02But really what makes Ohio State the most elite team is their elite defense.
09:07And I think that's why the points are kind of tough.
09:10I mean, you're getting on up there at 14-and-a-half, I think, is the last time I looked.
09:15But Ohio State's just playing their best football.
09:18Until somebody shows me they can aim, they're going to pull away from Illinois, who's going to do well.
09:24Luke Altmaier, their quarterback, is really an elite quarterback.
09:27But Ohio State will pull away in the second half and cover for this game.
09:31Coach, I'm a former Big 8 guy, and I've been to this game an awful lot over the years.
09:40The Red River rivalry here at the Texas State Fair.
09:44Oklahoma taking on UT.
09:46Coach, Mateer, it looks like he is back.
09:49Pick'em Price, what do we do here?
09:51Well, you know what, if Mateer is back and he's fully healthy, I'm betting I've held back because I haven't figured out whether they're just giving us one line or another.
10:01If he's back and can play full go, it's Oklahoma all the way for me, a one-and-a-half-point spot.
10:07But if he doesn't play, I'm going with Texas.
10:09Texas' season is over if they lose this game.
10:12That'll be three losses.
10:13It'll be out of the conference playoff, out of the playoff probably, out of the conference championship.
10:17It's kind of a, when I say it's over, they can't really recover for the fans or for where they need to be if they lose.
10:24So I think Moore is riding on it.
10:25I think Arch Manning, we've got to get out of this.
10:27He's got to be a superstar.
10:29If Mateer doesn't play, and Arch just goes out there and plays solid, you know, hit the open guys, don't turn the ball over, just manage the offense.
10:37I've got Texas.
10:38They need this game so bad.
10:40I've got them winning.
10:41I think Oklahoma's defense, number one in the nation.
10:44I think it's a little bit padded with some of the people they've played.
10:48Michigan wasn't very good on offense early in the season.
10:51Then it was three G5s they played against.
10:56So they are elite on defense.
10:57But I think they're a little bit suspect statistically because of the people they've played.
11:02I'm going to go with, I don't know how I can, I'm going to say people before, I'm going to wait to the very end.
11:07I want to make sure Mateer plays.
11:08I'm thinking he won't play.
11:10They'll hold him back unless something happens.
11:11And I'm going that Hawkins is going to play, and I'm going with Texas to upset Oklahoma.
11:17I'd love to hear it, Coach.
11:18Quick time left here on the Plains.
11:20Top 10 Georgia coming to town against those Tigers.
11:23War Eagle, Coach.
11:24Come on.
11:24What do we got?
11:26Well, you know, War Eagle, I am in Auburn, and I would be probably kicked out of the stadium if I didn't have some orange and blue on in this game since I've coached in it.
11:35And it's funny, my wife, she runs on the Georgia staff, so it's going to be kind of tough walking in that stadium.
11:42But you know what?
11:43This is the oldest rivalry in the South.
11:45This is a huge game.
11:46Anything can happen.
11:47Auburn is not going to happen.
11:49Give me Auburn a walk-up.
11:51Come on, win the game.
11:54Mikes are hot.
11:54Tom is a producer.
11:55Should let him host this segment right now.
11:57But we won't do that.
11:58We got Donnie Wright.
11:59So we got Joe Renier.
12:00We're going to close this bad boy down in style.
12:02We absolutely love this segment here to reach out to the public.
12:06The question sometimes, the public might not want to reach out to us due to some questions asked here.
12:11Here's Fade to Public, people.
12:20Now, maybe it's the public who love the Philadelphia Eagles like myself and say, well, a hashtag Giants win for a Heisman Trophy question.
12:27Maybe it doesn't make that much sense, but I get it.
12:28I love to see it.
12:29I love to fight here.
12:30But also, it's a Friday morning, and we're asking the people, Joe Reniery, on our SportsGrid account.
12:36Easy to follow.
12:37Make sure you do that.
12:38Get these questions each and every morning, Monday through Friday, so you can answer to let us know where we're going on a Fade to Public poll.
12:44Simple question today.
12:45Who is your Heisman favorite going into week number seven?
12:49Four choices.
12:51Dante Moore, Carson Beck, Ty Simpson, John Mateer may be making a little sample appearance this weekend.
12:58Monster favorite?
12:59Carson Beck, Miami Joe.
13:02What do you think about that?
13:04It's kind of hard to go against that.
13:06Though I would not sleep on this kid, Ty Simpson, here.
13:11We all know Alabama's influence, Donnie, in the market.
13:15If this kid goes in, handles business against Missouri, and all of a sudden can run the table in Alabama playing for an SEC championship, yeah, he's going to get a lot of publicity there.
13:28Nobody does a better job of marketing their guys than Bama.
13:31By the way, it's all phenomenal stuff because the Heisman Trophy week to week, it just shifts around.
13:36Like, Dante Moore loses to Indiana.
13:38You won't see his daughter again.
13:40Like, John Mateer comes back and has a victory.
13:42Like, ooh, buy back in.
13:43Carson Beck not even playing football.
13:45He'll probably lose ground this weekend before he reappears again at this point.
13:49But Ty Simpson going on the road at Missouri, that could be your big mover this week.
13:53Talking about big movers, money in your pocket.
13:57Friday is payday.
13:58Bye, bye, bye.
14:06Stay hot, Joe.
14:07What are we looking at?
14:08Three to one, four to one, five to one, six to one, seven to one, eight to one, nine to one, ten to one, Joe.
14:12Can you give the people what they need here?
14:15Well, I mean, Donnie, we're getting Kennesaw State last night in an outright upset over La Tech.
14:23I don't even know if people understand where Kennesaw State is.
14:25But we are going to go back to college football here tonight here, Donnie, because one of my favorite teams to watch, a team in which we also have given out on this show in this spot over the last month since college football started.
14:41And that is South Florida taking on North Texas.
14:46And we previewed this game early in the week.
14:48And I told you, keep an eye on that total because it's up to 67 and a half, 68.
14:54I think it's still going to go higher before kick tonight.
14:57But to me, this is just, this is an important game because these two teams are part of that, you know, the G5, right?
15:04Who's going to be the Boise State this year and represent in the college football playoffs?
15:10And the answer is South Florida, who has played now the 39th toughest schedule in the country.
15:17North Texas has had some nice wins, but they have played the 115th toughest schedule in there.
15:23I love this kid, Bryce Brown.
15:25I love the way this South Florida team is shaping up.
15:29I liked them to beat Boise State.
15:32And I like them to go on the road.
15:34This is a huge game for them.
15:35I like them to go on the road and get it done in what is a coin flip game.
15:39But I think South Florida will be victorious because I like their defense more than I like North Texas is at this point.
