00:20Please welcome your host, Fleur East.
00:23CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
00:29Hello and welcome to Tuesday's edition of It Takes Two on BBC Two and iPlayer.
00:36It is no secret that Strictly season really is the best time of the year.
00:40And who holds the key to unlocking 12 sparkly weeks of backstage gossip?
00:45We do!
00:46That's right. So what secrets are we unlocking tonight? Let's find out.
00:51On Saturday, George and Alexis put the smooth into American smooth.
00:55But what is making their next dance feel so rough?
00:58All will be revealed soon.
01:00At the weekend, our lioness gave it her best shot,
01:03kicking off her Strictly career with a twinkle-toed leaderboard-topping jive.
01:07But why is this week her worst nightmare?
01:10Find out later in the show.
01:12And Joanne Clifton returns with the second half of Choreography Corner,
01:16where she'll be teaching us how to perfect scattered chassees.
01:21But first up, this couple put the pose...
01:25..into compost when they fashioned up a model performance
01:31that perfectly cha-cha-channeled Ellie's cheeky side.
01:34Here's a reminder.
01:35Your timing was immaculate and you were joyful to watch.
01:42With the next dance, try to keep your feet onto the floor
01:47so you'll be stronger, but that was so much fun.
01:50You do possess a gorgeous natural rhythm.
01:55Very good.
01:56Please welcome Ellie and Vito, otherwise known as the Cheeky Team.
02:03Hello. Hi.
02:05And Ellie, you brought along the fan from Shirley.
02:08Yes.
02:09You've got your fan with you.
02:10Look at that.
02:11The fabulous fan.
02:13Oh, yeah.
02:14Well, welcome to It Takes Two, Ellie.
02:17It was your first dance on Saturday.
02:19Yeah.
02:20And it took place on a catwalk.
02:21You looked really comfortable.
02:22How did you feel?
02:23Really, really proud.
02:25Loved it.
02:26And it's been the best thing ever in the film.
02:30Now, Ellie, a few people online thought you looked upset on Saturday,
02:33but backstage you told me you had a great night.
02:36Did you enjoy it?
02:37Yes, I did.
02:38And I wasn't upset at all.
02:40I was absolutely fine.
02:42And it's been a great night with him.
02:44And it's been the best night ever, so yes.
02:46Now, happy birthday for Saturday, Vito.
02:50How much of a gift was it to spend your big day dancing with Ellie?
02:53Oh, it was like an amazing big gift.
02:56You know, I usually don't celebrate my birthday,
02:59but this one was a double gift because it was on Saturday night
03:02on a week one with Ellie.
03:04My first life show.
03:05Yeah, our cha-cha-cha with my little firefly.
03:08It's the perfect birthday present, isn't it?
03:10Yeah.
03:11Now, Ellie, usually Vito is the teacher,
03:13but you use your model experience to teach Vito how to pose.
03:16Let's take a look.
03:17This is the one.
03:18That's two.
03:19This is the two.
03:20Three.
03:21This is the...
03:22Oh, four.
03:23Four, I like this one.
03:24Do a cartwheel.
03:25Something like this.
03:26Yeah, that's all right.
03:27Good.
03:28Pictures ready.
03:29And pose.
03:30Yeah.
03:31Now, please make me look good, OK?
03:37How is it?
03:38Go on, model.
03:39I love it.
03:41Ellie, how good was Vito as a modelling student?
03:44Do you think he's a natural...?
03:46Oof.
03:47No.
03:48LAUGHTER
03:49OK.
03:50Excuse me, you.
03:51Right, OK.
03:54Difficult of the video Vito, you were on point.
03:59We're on point.
04:00You were amazing.
04:01Wow.
04:02But, overall, you're getting on the sass,
04:05all that you can say, 10 hours, a million year worth.
04:09Wow.
04:11Now, we've heard what Ellie thinks of you as a student.
04:14So, how would you describe Ellie as a student?
04:17Ellie is so much fun.
04:20It's lovely because we love spending time together.
04:23Yeah.
04:24And it's definitely cheeky.
04:26Excuse me.
04:27You are cheeky.
04:28Excuse me.
04:29Yeah.
04:30Well, Ellie, I need to tell you that so many people
04:32took to social media to show you love.
04:35Grace said, Ellie, you were a joy to watch.
04:38Keep lighting up that stage.
04:40Aww.
04:41And Ellie, since being on Strictly, you've reached 100,000
04:44followers on Instagram.
04:45Yes.
04:46That is a lot of fans.
04:47Is there anything you want to say to them to thank them
04:48for their support?
04:49Thank you for the comments.
04:50I'm really excited.
04:52And, um, be confident.
04:56Be in the element and be happy.
04:58Yes.
04:59I love that.
05:00Great advice.
05:01Now, I know how scary the first dance is.
05:03So, congratulations.
05:04You've got it out the way.
05:05It's complete.
05:06And your next dance is the waltz to this.
05:09And you can tell everybody.
05:12Ah.
05:13This is the song.
05:14That's your song by Ellie Goulding.
05:16And now, Ellie, it's your song.
05:17You may be quiet.
05:18Vito, you explained on Saturday that Ellie is a visual learner.
05:21So, what visuals are you using in training this week?
05:23So, for this week, we are going to use and channel the butterfly.
05:28You know, positivity and energy, very coloured, you know?
05:32Yeah.
05:33Because we want to be, I said, remember, I asked you,
05:35how do you want to be for this dance?
05:36He said, I want to be elegant.
05:38Smooth.
05:39I want to be smooth, very fluty.
05:41Shall I be?
05:42Yeah.
05:43So, at the end...
05:44To all go, be in one comfort zone.
05:47Yes.
05:48And beautiful.
05:49To fly.
05:50We're going to become like a princess, you know?
05:52So, we started...
05:53And there's the prince charming in this song.
05:55Yeah, you said at the beginning I was a frog,
05:57and after I became a prince and...
05:59Because...
06:00Because he gives me a hand.
06:02I...
06:03And then I'll die in a princess.
06:05But you're a princess and after, you know,
06:07we develop wings and we become like a wingy...
06:10A wingy butterfly.
06:11A wingy butterfly.
06:12Princess.
06:13Yeah.
06:14I love it.
06:15Vito, in three words, can you tell me,
06:16what's going to make this waltz great?
06:18Uh, for sure we're going to drag,
06:21because we're going to drag the floor.
06:23Drag.
06:24Yeah, we're not going to lift the floor.
06:25No.
06:26Velvet is a good word.
06:27Velvet.
06:28Velvet.
06:29Yeah, because it's like the velvet feeling.
06:30You want to be like smooth like a velvet.
06:32Mm.
06:33Yeah.
06:34Drag velvet.
06:35And light.
06:36Because you want to fly very light.
06:37Mm.
06:38Drag velvet and light.
06:39Drag velvet.
06:40I've got no idea from that what we're going to see.
06:43Now, before you go, we have a good luck message for you
06:47from one of your friends.
06:48It's strictly alumni, Alison Hammond.
06:51Oh!
06:52Ellie.
06:53Well done.
06:54You smashed it.
06:55You did it.
06:56You...
06:57Oh my gosh.
06:58Honestly, it was such a good dance.
07:01And I'm so, so very proud of you.
07:03Keep dancing.
07:04You are going to smash this, babes.
07:06Lots of love.
07:07Bye Vito.
07:08Bye Ellie.
07:09I love you.
07:10Bye.
07:11I love you, Alison.
07:12I love you, Alison.
07:13Oh, that's beautiful.
07:14See, you have so much support.
07:16And I can't wait to see your dance.
07:18Good luck with training this week.
07:19Ellie and Vito, everyone.
07:25Still to come, funny guy George reveals how he's coping
07:28with the serious nature of his next dance.
07:30And Karen talks about her historic jive.
07:32But before all that, it's time for Choreography Corner
07:35with Joanne Clifton.
07:39Joanne Clifton, everyone.
07:54Right, lots to get through tonight.
07:57Let's start with LaVoie and Aliash and the American Smooth.
08:00Now, Shirley mentioned an issue with control
08:02and that LaVoie needs to listen more with her body.
08:05What advice would you give her?
08:06Well, first of all, I thought it was another surprise.
08:08She came out, she was elegant, graceful.
08:11It was really beautiful to watch.
08:12But you can see a little bit what Shirley meant
08:15about wanting to take control,
08:17especially when she went out of hold and then back into hold.
08:20She kind of went, oh, here's my hold and I'm in it and off we go.
08:23And really, if she listened to Aliash a little bit more
08:26in all of the things, you would see a little bit more of a softness
08:29and a coordination together.
08:31And in order to do that, she needs to think about where her contact points are,
08:36which is right hip, right rib, hand, hand and hand and get blindfolded.
08:42Because if you take away one of your senses, then you don't know where you are in the room
08:46and you have to listen more and we'll get a softer performance.
08:48And listen to your body.
08:49Yes, I like it.
08:50On to Harry and Karen's cha-cha-chan.
08:52Craig and Motsi said that Harry lost timing at the beginning
08:55and started on the wrong foot, but he managed to recover.
08:57How hard is it to recover when you start on the wrong foot?
09:00Oh, it's so hard.
09:01And especially since, as we can see in the clip, Karen, she can't see him.
09:05And normally it's our job to get hold of them and get them on the right foot.
09:09But she couldn't see him, so she didn't know.
09:11And normally they would panic and then it would carry on through the whole routine,
09:15panicking and getting stuff wrong.
09:17But no, he was in it and he was performing it.
09:19It was absolutely brilliant.
09:20I agree with Craig with the hips.
09:21He was using them, but a bit too much side to side.
09:24We need that figure eight.
09:25So imagine you chop the top half of the body off, look down,
09:28and you know that, what the kids use, the styrograph or spirograph or something?
09:31Oh, like the scale electric scar tracker.
09:33Yeah, a pen in that hip and you're going to go forward and round,
09:36forward and round, forward and round.
09:38And it's the forward part.
09:39There we go.
09:40That's important.
09:41OK, next up, Jimmy and Lauren and the quick step.
09:44Now, Jimmy's already changing the narrative for ex-footballers.
09:48Yeah, yeah.
09:49Anton was impressed by some interesting and difficult timing combinations.
09:52Yes.
09:53What does he mean by this?
09:54Where could you see this in the routine?
09:55I mean, there was lots and lots of basic.
09:57Lauren put lots of basic in and lots of steps in hold, which was great.
10:01He kept his hold and he used his body weight.
10:03But as we can see here, he does scatter chassis, which are slow, slow,
10:07a quick, quick, slow, and then changes direction.
10:09And I want to show you that in demo time.
10:12Yes!
10:13My favourite time of the day.
10:16So, basically, he went like a gallop.
10:19He went slow and slow and then we have a quick and quick and slow,
10:24quick and quick and slow.
10:26Then he changed direction.
10:27He did it to go round the room, but we're just going to go back this way.
10:30Slow, slow, quick and quick and slow.
10:33And on that slow, you've got to really press into the floor and stop your body weight from flying that way.
10:39Oh, with the momentum.
10:40Change it to control it to go the other way.
10:44Bam, bam, bam, ba-da-ba-dam.
10:46And he did that amazingly.
10:48Wow.
10:49He had the sway going on.
10:50Now, on to Lewis and Katya and the jive.
10:52Now, despite being second on the leaderboard, Shirley felt it was overloaded with choreography.
10:57What did you think about that?
10:58And how can Katya choreograph to Lewis's strengths?
11:01I think Katya did choreograph to Lewis's strengths.
11:04I mean, this was a statement.
11:06Katya was like, here we are.
11:09And we are in it for the long haul.
11:11And I think knowing her, there'll be even more surprises.
11:14There'll be more things that he can do that's going to wow us throughout the series.
11:18She's got more stuff in her back pocket.
11:20I do agree with the judges about the jive kicks.
11:23A lot of them were quite wide.
11:25And that's okay if it was more Lindy Hop.
11:28But we did need to see some of them being more compact and underneath your body, underneath your hips.
11:33So he needed to imagine he was wearing a skirt, a little bit like what I've got on at the minute,
11:37that's tight so we had everything here rather than here.
11:41And sideways, I would move my hips to keep it under the hips rather than just flinging the leg out.
11:46Okay, let's move on to Alex and Jojo.
11:49Now, Craig loved the drama and the intensity of this Viennese Waltz.
11:53And Anton felt there wasn't enough in hold.
11:56What did you think?
11:57I thought they were under marked.
11:59I thought they were under marked.
12:00And yes, I did want to see more in hold, but not for the reason of just like, oh yeah, I just want to see more in hold.
12:06It's actually because she's got such a great hold.
12:08Look at that.
12:09I saw it and I went, oh, she's my ballroom girl.
12:11She's my ballroom girl.
12:12She had both curves.
12:14She did them both really, really well.
12:15So she was out to the left and she was tilted backwards as well.
12:19Little bit of advice for the rest of the ballroom dancers.
12:21Whenever she sways to her right, whether she keeps the head left or turns it to the right,
12:26I want her to imagine someone gets hold of the skin of her elbow and keeps pulling that way.
12:31So she's swaying, but she's still pulling to the left as to not get in front of Johannes.
12:36Gosh, the posture is so complex, isn't it?
12:38It is, it is.
12:39Next up, let's talk about Chris and Nadia and the Samba.
12:42Now, the judges highlighted Chris's potential, but Shirley felt that his weight was a little too far back.
12:47Yeah.
12:48How did you see that?
12:49Well, in the clip, we see it here.
12:50They both come towards the camera in a second and you can see he's not really attacking the space.
12:54There we go.
12:55You know, he didn't make any mistakes, but he was, he was a little bit back with his weight.
13:00I wanted to imagine as well that he was, you know, when Iron Man with his thing now,
13:05me fiance has told me what it is.
13:07It's the arc reactor.
13:08Oh.
13:09But that is on his chest and he's showing it off.
13:12So it's opening his chest because he doesn't look at Nadia quite a lot and everything gets closed in like that.
13:16So he'll open that up and get that over the front of his foot.
13:19So it's not only correcting his posture, but getting his weight forward as well.
13:23Shining that.
13:24Okay.
13:25Let's talk about Amber and Nikita's waltz.
13:26Now, despite such limited rehearsal time, Motsey described them as a dynamite package.
13:31And she was impressed by the extensions that Amber added to her lines.
13:35Yeah.
13:36What impressed you the most about this dance?
13:37I mean, the fact that they did that with just like six hours.
13:39I know.
13:40But no, she was amazing.
13:42Obviously, her musical theatre background, she feels the music and you can tell.
13:45And that's what they meant by doing a movement and then finishing it off because the musical phrase hasn't quite finished yet.
13:51Curve-wise in the ballroom, we'll forgive the footwork.
13:54She didn't have enough time to work on that.
13:55But she had the second curve, the one up really well.
13:58She needs to go out to her left more.
14:00So keeping the shoulders parallel to the hips, she needs to have two blocks, the hip area and the rib cage.
14:05And she needs to move that across.
14:07Now, I want her to do that in the supermarket, everywhere.
14:10Just while she's walking along, keep this kind of rib cage out to the left to get used to it so she doesn't get in Nikita's space.
14:17Imagine if he came into the rehearsal in the morning and he ambushed his teeth.
14:22Get out there.
14:23Oh, yeah, you'd be gone.
14:24Yeah.
14:25OK, on to Vicky and Kai's cha-cha-cha.
14:27The judges all felt that Vicky doesn't have anything to be nervous about and recognised her potential.
14:31But Motsi, Shirley and Anton would all like her to work on the leg action.
14:36So how could she work on this?
14:37She was doing really well with the leg action.
14:39Like she really was.
14:40It was compact.
14:41It was nice.
14:42She wasn't just throwing them out or anything.
14:43But as you can see, she doesn't quite straighten them and she doesn't quite bend them.
14:48Like they're kind of like just from step to step kind of like in the middle.
14:52So what I would like, and we don't normally say this, we normally go on about straighten your legs, straighten your legs, straighten your legs.
14:57But what they meant was that also when your ankles are passing, there is a lovely bent knee that then goes to the straight one and then bent again into the straight one.
15:08Oh man, you make it look so easy.
15:11This has been such a pleasure.
15:12You'll be back again on Monday?
15:13Yeah, I will.
15:14Oh yeah.
15:15Give it up for Joanne Clifton, everyone.
15:17Thank you so much.
15:18Thank you so much.
15:20Now Joanne has had her say on all 15 couples.
15:23But to have your say at the weekend, remember that this year for the first time, voting will be online only.
15:29So you'll need to register for a BBC account first.
15:32Head to the website bbc.co.uk slash strictly or you can scan the QR code on the screen now for all the information you need to sign in or register.
15:41And once you're registered, you'll be able to vote for the whole series.
15:45My next guests are George and Alexis.
15:48In the neck and neck first week, George described his impressive lifts as wearing Alexis as a scarf.
15:53Luckily for him, she's made of American smooth material.
15:57Here's a reminder.
15:58For someone that has never danced, you have amazing potential.
16:08Your movement is very natural. Your lifting was really quite brilliant.
16:12All in all, good job.
16:14There was places where you show that you have the possibility of having an outstanding frame.
16:19This is going to be a dynamic partnership.
16:23Let's welcome George and Alexis.
16:26George, you're no stranger to going live on socials, but how did dancing live on TV compare?
16:31I mean, I've sort of made a living sort of speaking to camera.
16:36So going live doesn't feel sort of too daunting because I'm just sort of speaking.
16:41And the worst thing that's going to happen is I mess up on a word and nobody's going to go, hey.
16:46But I've not made my living dancing.
16:48So when I do that live and people are there going, hey, you messed up there.
16:52It's a little bit more scary.
16:54Dancing to camera is a completely different ball game.
16:57Yeah.
16:58Now you're both new to Strictly.
16:59How does it feel experiencing everything for the first time together?
17:02It's honestly so special.
17:04And like first time experience, it takes two together as well.
17:06Exactly.
17:07So just a bunch of firsts and it's fun to navigate it together.
17:10And, you know, we have a great time with it.
17:12It's nice that she's not got like a previous winner that I have to try and sort of match up to.
17:17Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
17:19Well, I mean, saying that you got previous with winning though, because you won the US version of So You Think You Can Dance in 2022.
17:26How does Strictly compare?
17:28I mean, a lot of nerves, a lot of butterflies.
17:31Yeah.
17:32So that's still very much present.
17:34Well, I think it's that sense of like live performing and you know that so many people are watching behind camera,
17:41but then also just approaching each week and each dance, you're immersed in a new style and you have to figure out how to adapt,
17:49how to create your own story with it.
17:51So there's a lot of discovery.
17:53Yes.
17:54That's a good word.
17:55I like that.
17:56On the launch show, George described himself as being allergic to dance.
18:00Yeah.
18:01But on Saturday, Katia posted this.
18:04So there's a lot of dancing going on.
18:07And look, look at you.
18:09You, George, smashing it.
18:12That finger point, there was a lot of rhythm going on there.
18:15Oh, yeah.
18:16What was your secret to getting George to come out of his shell?
18:18I feel like I've just thrown a minute.
18:20Yeah.
18:21Because I, you know, trying something new can be very scary.
18:24And it's always that first step that's the most terrifying.
18:27Like that was always me when I was learning a new skill.
18:29So I think my approach to him was like, you know what?
18:31Let's just throw it on him.
18:32And then it'll hopefully settle.
18:34See what sticks.
18:35Yeah.
18:36George, your family, especially your nan, Glenda.
18:39Big up Glenda each and every time.
18:40Oh, yeah.
18:41Big up Glenda.
18:42They're big Strictly fans.
18:43Now, what did they have to say about your American Smooth?
18:45Um, I think they were all sort of a bit shocked, like taken aback.
18:49Um, so, which is, which is nice.
18:51I mean, I'm sort of, I've got like such a supportive family.
18:54I couldn't be like more grateful.
18:55But, um, it's nice to have something that they can sort of, it's a bit more tangible
18:59for them to sort of grip onto as opposed to like, oh, I made a video with this person
19:04you've not heard of.
19:05And they're like, all right.
19:06Yeah.
19:07They're like dancing.
19:08We get this.
19:09Yeah, exactly.
19:10Yeah.
19:11Now, Craig noted George's potential and you're joint fourth on the lead board right
19:14now.
19:15These scores get carried over.
19:16So what mindset does this give you going into week two?
19:19I think it's just trying to stay present and not worry too much about the past, but not
19:26focus too much on the future.
19:27So literally present and just taking it day by day.
19:30And I keep telling him like, trust the process because every day is going to feel different.
19:35And it's a whole new style that he doesn't know.
19:37So it's like learning a different language.
19:39Yeah.
19:40It's like every week is week one.
19:41Exactly.
19:42And so I think it's just that, like, we're just taking it week by week, dance by dance.
19:45And we're going to turn him into a ballroom king.
19:50Yes, we are.
19:51From smooth to serious.
19:53This week you're dancing a Paso to this.
19:56We are.
19:57This is a wild game of survival.
20:00That's Game of Survival by Ruel.
20:03Now tell me, is there any wider meaning behind this song choice?
20:06I mean, maybe it's just sort of a reflection on last week where it probably was a bit of
20:11a game of survival for you with all the lifts that we were doing.
20:14Of course.
20:15Yes.
20:16Yes.
20:17Yeah.
20:18But I guess, yeah, I guess first week where people are getting eliminated.
20:21I guess it is a bit of a game of survival.
20:23But it is.
20:24Yeah.
20:25Yeah, it is.
20:26And the Paso is very different to the American Smooth.
20:28It's early days.
20:29But what have you been focusing on in training, Alexis, this week?
20:33I think I've been just trying to focus on giving him the flavour of Paso because our American
20:37Smooth was very romantic.
20:39It was very elegant, soft, beautiful.
20:41This is very much the very opposite.
20:44So it's very strong.
20:45It's gritty.
20:46We've been trying to work on his serious face.
20:48Yeah.
20:49It's not great.
20:50I was going to ask about that because you're known as like the fun jokey guy.
20:53Yeah.
20:54So how are you taking the serious nature of this dance?
20:56It's a challenge.
20:57I think the first dance was a shock to people because that was sort of not a side of me that
21:07people would have sort of recognised.
21:09Yeah.
21:10But then, yeah, week two we're doing the exact same thing but just another side of
21:13people, another side of me that people wouldn't really.
21:15We're just immediately taking him out of his comfort zone.
21:17Yeah.
21:18You're a chameleon.
21:19Every week we're going to see a new joey.
21:20Exactly.
21:21It's exciting.
21:22Now tease us, Alexis.
21:23What can we look forward to from this performance?
21:26It is jam-packed.
21:28Ooh.
21:29Jam-packed.
21:30It's intense.
21:32I think, do you want to show them your serious face?
21:35Oh, yeah.
21:36There's a lot of this.
21:37I can show you my confused sort of scared face because after hearing it's jam-packed
21:40and intense.
21:41Oh.
21:42Is that good?
21:43Am I doing it on camera?
21:45OK.
21:46Yeah.
21:47Something serious is going on this.
21:49I'm not sure what.
21:50Good luck.
21:52It's George and Alexis.
21:55You've got time.
21:57Thank you very much.
21:58You've got loads of time.
21:59Next up, Karen and Carlos.
22:01Our leaderboard topping lioness tackled Saturday like a pro.
22:04But will she continue to have a ball?
22:07Here's a reminder of her jive.
22:11Kick, kick, kick.
22:12In all the years of my being on this show, I have never seen a female dancer be able
22:16to do that.
22:17It was just sensational.
22:19The compactness in your center.
22:22This man is turning you in and out and you are giving it all.
22:26Wow.
22:27That is the best dance of the night.
22:34Please welcome Captain Carlos.
22:37Now, before we start, Carlos, please, you need to show off your outfit.
22:41I mean, this is, this is something.
22:43This is something.
22:44The sailor.
22:45And the wellies as well.
22:46You've got wellies going on.
22:47The wellies, I know.
22:48It's a winter.
22:49I mean, you never know what's going to happen outside.
22:50It's a winter.
22:51It's England.
22:52It's weather.
22:53Now, it's been 18 years since the footballer topped the week one leaderboard.
22:58Woo-hoo!
22:59Yes!
23:00Well done.
23:01That is major.
23:02In case anyone at home was wondering, the footballer who did that was John Barnes.
23:05Wow.
23:06John Barnes.
23:07I know him.
23:08You know, yeah?
23:09Oh, big up.
23:10No, I lied, sorry.
23:11Oh, you don't?
23:12OK.
23:13Was making history anywhere near the back of your mind going into week one?
23:15No.
23:16No, not at all.
23:17I loved the song and I loved the work that were done in the training room and the aim was
23:21just to go out and have fun and enjoy it.
23:24And honestly, as soon as it kicked in the music, I was like, oh, this is so much fun.
23:29And the aim was to always make eye contact with him and he has a beaming smile on.
23:34But the rest, I have no idea what happened.
23:36We did the dance, loved it, and then the rest is like a blur.
23:40It was sensational, honestly.
23:42I mean, it's only week one and Kaz is already making history.
23:45It felt like the driver's the perfect fit for our quick-footed footballer over here.
23:49100%.
23:50You know, to be honest with you, I had no idea she could have put out the dance like that.
23:54Really?
23:55At all.
23:56I was surprised.
23:57In the middle of the dance, I felt her energy was boost and I have to keep up.
24:01But I'm really, really proud and impressed.
24:04And she's not only can dance the jive, but she was a performer.
24:07Yes.
24:08She literally performed the dance and for all of us, I was just so incredible.
24:12You know, and now the pressure's coming.
24:14I know, but don't so know.
24:16Yeah, let's not talk about pressure.
24:18Let's just enjoy.
24:19Let's enjoy the fun.
24:20Saturday was triumphant for both you and the Red Roses.
24:23To what extent did watching their historic victory give you the right mindset to get on the dance floor?
24:29I was in the make-up room watching it and, you know, Aliash was right next to me when the 80 Minutes came up and they'd won the game.
24:36And then we were like, yeah, they've won.
24:38And everyone in the make-up room was like, yes, come on.
24:40And it was just honestly such a magical day.
24:43I'm a massive fan of the Red Roses.
24:44I trained with quite a few of the girls and they are an inspiration.
24:49And that was like a boost, genuinely.
24:52Yeah, perfect.
24:53I was like, oh, go on, they've done it.
24:54And because I was nervous for them.
24:55I was so nervous.
24:56And I was like, OK, like, it just felt right.
25:00And like I said, I just love the song.
25:01I love the dance.
25:02And the day felt right.
25:04And we just went from there, really.
25:06It was like the perfect motivation to get out there and absolutely kill it.
25:10Now, Craig applauded the brilliance of your double tour.
25:13To what extent are you pushing Kaz, Carlos?
25:16Because you can see such potential in her.
25:18Oh, sorry, I have to explain.
25:19You know, remember after Craig says double applause and then I lead her to a turn.
25:23It was so funny.
25:24You did a little demo, didn't you?
25:27I was like, oh, my God.
25:29But it just happened out of nowhere.
25:31Basically, to be honest, I didn't choreograph the last five beats.
25:34I said, how can you feel the music when you hear the five accents?
25:38Do something for me.
25:39Do something.
25:40That was freestyle.
25:41She did freestyle.
25:42And I didn't know, not in a million years, she can do that.
25:45And I think she did a half more turn on the live show.
25:47Normally she'd do one, but she did one and a half.
25:49It was the adrenaline.
25:50Yeah, it was just, yeah, it was the crowd.
25:53The crowd were amazing, the energy in the room and the support from everyone.
25:58And it was also the relief because, you know, we didn't have the smoothest of rehearsals.
26:05And I elbowed Carlos in the nose the day before.
26:09And, yeah, it wasn't great.
26:11So once we'd...
26:12Yeah, he's fine now.
26:13You look great.
26:14But once we'd got through it, there was such relief.
26:16So I was like, oh, go on, just go with momentum.
26:19See what happens.
26:20If you fall, you fall.
26:21And, yeah, you were just happy.
26:23So I was like, OK, sweet.
26:24Yeah.
26:25Now, I need to ask you before we move on to next week's dance.
26:27You said to Claudia on Saturday night that you were so hungry.
26:30Oh, I was starving.
26:31What did you eat?
26:32What was the first thing you ate?
26:33Pizza.
26:34Oh, yeah.
26:35Classic.
26:36I don't eat meat, so it was just, yeah.
26:42Straight up margarita.
26:43Yeah.
26:44Oh, yeah, good for you.
26:45You deserved it.
26:47Right, moving on.
26:48This weekend, you'll be dancing the tango to this.
26:51Oh, thank you.
26:53Training season by Dua Lipa.
26:55Now, you've been clear that dances requiring good posture are your worst nightmare.
27:00How are you coping with the frame, Kaz?
27:03Um, Carlos, maybe you should answer.
27:06You know, every day, every day from today, every second we finish a sequence, her face
27:11like this.
27:13Again.
27:14Another one.
27:15She finished.
27:16She was like this.
27:17She was like relieved but not.
27:19She was struggling with herself.
27:20I said, I love you but I know, I know, I felt the pain.
27:23Yeah, posture doesn't come easy to me.
27:26It's a real physical challenge.
27:28Like, it's really, really hard.
27:30I have the posture.
27:31Yeah.
27:32Her spine is curved in so she can't actually fully open.
27:35Oh, I see.
27:36Not with her shoulder but her spine.
27:37Yes.
27:38So, I have the posture aid to try and pull me back.
27:41It's a challenge but, you know, it's a challenge I'm, you know, trying to get better and improve
27:46on and with this guy, I'll try my best.
27:49Oh, I love you guys.
27:51Now, you're currently top of the leaderboard and the scores get carried over so how much
27:54confidence does this give you going into week two?
27:57You know what?
27:58I think sport has taught me genuinely not to get too high too low and like that was amazing
28:03and I'm really grateful and we're really grateful to the comments but we have to park
28:07that and this is a new dance and, you know, go from the get go and just try our best and that's how we see it.
28:13And it's nerve-wracking because we've had shorter time, everybody has less time.
28:17It's a different dance but it's a great song.
28:19So, I just hope that we really enjoy it as much as we did last week and everyone enjoys watching it.
28:25I love the athlete mindset.
28:27It's so exciting.
28:28It's so strong.
28:29Much better than me.
28:30The best of luck in training is Karen and Carla.
28:35That is it for tonight.
28:37Thank you to all of our wonderful couples and the fabulous Joanne Clifton.
28:41On tomorrow's show, my Strictly sister Jeanette will be joined by Stefan and Diane,
28:45Lewis and Katia, Jimmy and Lauren and Ross and Yavita.
28:48What a line-up.
28:49I'll be back on Friday.
28:50See you then.
