00:00in the making
00:00Please welcome your host, Jeanette Monrara
00:30Hello and welcome to Tuesday's It Takes Two.
00:36We're coming to you on BBC Two and iPlayer
00:39and after the first dance-off of the series,
00:42it's a case of keep on moving for Chris and Nadia
00:44after they were saved by all four judges.
00:47I'll be catching up with them in just a moment.
00:49But before that, let's find out who else is on the show tonight.
00:53With a score of just 17,
00:56it's fair to say that our Aussie duo,
00:57Stefan and Diane, didn't have a good A on Saturday.
01:00We'll be asking how they plan to bounce back
01:02from Down Under before movie week.
01:05She was a beautiful ballroom butterfly on Saturday night
01:08and she was flying high after some great scores.
01:11We'll be asking whether Ellie and Vito
01:13will be winging it for their routine on Saturday.
01:16And Joanne Clifton is back
01:18with the second part of this week's Choreography Corner
01:20where we'll be talking hip rotation,
01:23voltas and arm energy.
01:24But before all that,
01:27Chris and Nadia had a scare at the weekend
01:29as the former England rugby captain
01:31had to tackle the first dance-off.
01:33And after giving it his best try,
01:35the judges gave him his props
01:37and kept him in the game.
01:39You have a lovely walking action.
01:44You walk beautifully.
01:46I still believe that you are going to have to step out
01:51of your usual comfort zone.
01:54You were almost leaning over her.
01:57You lost fluidity in the arms,
01:59but you do have a magnificent frame.
02:01Please welcome Chris and Nadia.
02:08I'm a magnificent frame.
02:09Yes.
02:10Chris, let's get straight into it.
02:12You got the first red light treatment of the series.
02:17What was it like to end up in that position?
02:18How did you feel?
02:19Not great, if we're honest.
02:21It was such an emotional experience, wasn't it?
02:23And look, we were unfortunately down to the bottom
02:26of the leaderboard.
02:26And I think whenever you're in that position,
02:28there's always a chance, isn't there?
02:29So we, Nadia was brilliant preparing me
02:32for, I call it the playoff, the elimination,
02:34whatever you want to call it.
02:36But yeah, we got in the right position.
02:38We got in the mind frame.
02:39We were like, look, let's just be ready for,
02:41if it happens.
02:42Obviously, if we go the other way, it's amazing.
02:44But yeah, look, it was tough emotionally,
02:46especially to be in the first one
02:47when we put so much hard work in
02:48and we thought we performed really well on the night.
02:51Yeah, we really did, yes.
02:53And getting to know Chris,
02:55I can understand his mentality
02:56and being an athlete and rugby player.
02:59So I had to keep him focused
03:00and I was really making sure
03:03you're in the right mindset
03:04if we need to do it again,
03:06that you were ready.
03:07Because you posted that Strictly
03:08has given you so much purpose
03:10now that you're involved with it.
03:11But what do you mean when you say purpose?
03:13What's the purpose?
03:14I think it's reignited that kind of energy,
03:17that competitive spirit
03:18to get back out there.
03:19And I think when any athlete retires,
03:21they feel a little bit lost for a long time.
03:24Their identity, their purpose,
03:26it does disappear a bit.
03:27So to have that focus,
03:29to go to training every day with Nadia,
03:30who pushes me,
03:31she challenges me
03:32to tell me which foot is left and right
03:34and all sorts.
03:35But we're improving.
03:37And that's the main thing
03:38from a person who,
03:39if I'm honest,
03:40probably got laughed at a little bit
03:41when I was on the dance floor.
03:42No.
03:43Only from friends,
03:44you know, friendly banter
03:45and all that kind of stuff
03:46to now going out there
03:47and performing
03:48and improving from week to week
03:49has been amazing so far.
03:51So yes,
03:52it is any baby steps,
03:53but it steps in the right direction.
03:54But it steps in the right direction.
03:55Exactly.
03:55And if it makes you feel better,
03:56I still don't know my left from my right.
03:57So you're absolutely fine.
03:59But looking back
04:00on Saturday night's performance,
04:02all of the judges
04:02commented on your posture.
04:04It was a big topic
04:05of conversation for them.
04:06So what is it the case?
04:07Is it the habits
04:08that you've had as a rugby player
04:09that just keeps you coming forward?
04:11Oh yeah,
04:11let us show you.
04:12Oh, yeah.
04:13Let us show you.
04:13Okay, demo time.
04:14This is the natural.
04:15Scrap.
04:16Scrap.
04:17This is the natural position.
04:19That's what,
04:19that's what
04:20usually he would do.
04:21I don't think
04:22I ever expected Nadia
04:23to ever be in that.
04:24She was great.
04:25Here you go.
04:26Here you go.
04:27Well, look,
04:27unfortunately,
04:28a lot of our thing
04:28is kind of low.
04:29It's combative.
04:30You're tackling down here.
04:32I've tried that too.
04:33You're very good.
04:33You're not kind of
04:34trying to be up here.
04:35Yes.
04:36It's almost
04:37a complete opposite
04:37where you're trying to stand up.
04:39And we always say,
04:40Johannes.
04:41Think of Johannes.
04:41I've never met a person
04:43with better posture.
04:44Oh my gosh.
04:45Johannes.
04:45Be more Johannes.
04:46And I suddenly go up like that.
04:47Yeah,
04:47but you've also been using
04:48a broom in rehearsals
04:49to help out that as well.
04:51Well,
04:51we've been using
04:52all the possible elements.
04:54Whatever we find,
04:56cans of water,
04:57broom,
04:57to make sure his frame
04:58is the best it could be.
05:00And like you said,
05:01it's baby steps,
05:02but the fact that judges
05:03can see the improvement
05:04and they did say
05:06that it was such a big difference
05:08between Samba
05:09and then Vinny's Waltz week too.
05:11I'm really proud of you.
05:13And to talk about
05:14the message he put out there
05:16during the weekend.
05:17And you said
05:18that you felt like
05:19you let me down
05:21by being in Dance Off.
05:22and it's absolutely
05:24nothing like that.
05:25I know how much,
05:27how your family
05:28is proud of you
05:29and your friends
05:30and I'm really,
05:31really proud of you
05:32of how far you've come.
05:34Yes.
05:34And you have to be proud
05:35of yourself as well.
05:36And we're still in it.
05:38We're still in it.
05:39We still have another week to go.
05:40Which makes me excited
05:41because you are going
05:42into movie week.
05:42Yes.
05:43Yes, you are.
05:43And you're going to be doing
05:44a Paso Doble
05:45to a strictly version
05:47of Thor,
05:49Love and Thunder
05:50to this song.
05:54That is
05:55Sweet Child of Mine,
05:56Guns and Roses.
05:58Oh, Chris,
05:58what a song.
05:59Are you kidding me?
06:01Yes.
06:01Now, it's the first
06:02themed week of the series.
06:04How excited are you
06:06to be dressing up
06:06as a superhero
06:07on national television?
06:09Oh, I mean,
06:09it's every child's dream,
06:11isn't it?
06:11To be a superhero,
06:12to dress up as a superhero.
06:14So to get to do that
06:14is amazing.
06:16But also,
06:16with this dance,
06:18being a superhero,
06:19it allows me
06:20to put into practice
06:20all the judges' feedback
06:21or the coaches' feedback,
06:22I call them,
06:23to say,
06:24to stand up tall,
06:25to have that presence,
06:26to have that alter ego,
06:28Fred.
06:28I don't know
06:29if I've ever met
06:30a matador named Fred,
06:31though.
06:32I think it works.
06:33Just to put it,
06:34to make it clear,
06:35that's what Mott's
06:36is acting.
06:37Yes.
06:37Because I had so many
06:38people asking me,
06:39who is Fred?
06:40Why are you calling him Fred?
06:41This week,
06:42Chris is Fred.
06:44Well, listen,
06:44we want to help you.
06:45here on It Takes Two,
06:46we're here to support.
06:47Okay.
06:47So we have brought back
06:48something very special,
06:49the Paso Cam.
06:52So,
06:52on my cue,
06:53Chris,
06:54I'm going to ask you
06:54to look down the camera
06:55and give me
06:56your best Paso face.
06:58face, all right?
06:59What is a Paso face first?
07:02Don't worry,
07:02we'll work.
07:03Make pretend you're
07:04about to tackle.
07:05We're only two days here.
07:05We're only two days here.
07:06What face would you give
07:07when you're about to go
07:08for a tackle?
07:09Down the camera,
07:09go.
07:10All right,
07:14Nadia,
07:14what is Nadia's?
07:16Go on,
07:17Nadia.
07:17Give me a Paso.
07:18Oh,
07:19ole.
07:22I like.
07:23I love that he actually said,
07:25what is a Paso face?
07:27You've got a couple days left.
07:29Here we go.
07:29All right,
07:29well,
07:29good luck with training
07:30for the two of you.
07:32It's Chris and Nadia,
07:33everybody.
07:37Amazing.
07:38I love Strictly.
07:39All right,
07:39on Saturday night,
07:40Ellie burst out of her cocoon
07:42and became a beautiful butterfly
07:43with a waltz that had her
07:45and Vita floating on air.
07:47Here's a reminder.
07:50You today
07:51were the epitome
07:52of grace
07:53and charm.
07:54Boy,
07:54can you spin,
07:55girl.
07:56If you're going to continue
07:57to improve all the things
07:59that everybody asks you to do,
08:01you're going to be unstoppable.
08:03Till your fingertips
08:04you were dancing.
08:05I love that extension.
08:07This is going
08:08in the right direction.
08:09Well done,
08:09girl.
08:13Welcome,
08:14Ellie and Vita.
08:16Ellie,
08:17that was a beautiful routine
08:18on Saturday night
08:20and you started
08:21on your own
08:21again
08:22at the stairs.
08:23Did you have any butterflies
08:24in your stomach?
08:25Had nerves at first,
08:27but they were coming down
08:29and
08:30so
08:31there was a good dance.
08:33It was a great dance
08:34made by Vita.
08:36Yes.
08:37Of course.
08:39My big brother.
08:41And so
08:41there was a graceful dance
08:43and me,
08:44everything was like
08:45butterflies,
08:46graceful,
08:47arrogance.
08:48And during the dance,
08:49I got a bit
08:50emotional,
08:52but in the inner,
08:53not on the outside.
08:54But it was all worth
08:56being a dance
08:56and it was great,
08:58comments,
08:59great scores.
09:00I love it so much.
09:01Vita,
09:01how impressed
09:02were you
09:02with Ellie's performance?
09:03Honestly,
09:04Jeanette,
09:04I was really trying
09:05not to get emotional
09:06during the dance.
09:07The moment,
09:08you know,
09:08already coming down
09:09from the stairs.
09:10Because this is,
09:11you know,
09:11also our own
09:12little journey.
09:13We want to have
09:13a little challenge
09:14and I said like,
09:15okay, Ellie.
09:15Ellie was a bit afraid
09:16of getting down
09:17from the stairs
09:18on her own.
09:19I said,
09:19that's why
09:20we're going to set
09:20this challenge.
09:21You're going to come down
09:22on your own.
09:23We're going to meet
09:23in the middle
09:24of the floor.
09:25Yeah,
09:25and I was so,
09:26so proud.
09:27Yeah,
09:27the moment
09:28you were spinning
09:29around,
09:29I said like,
09:30oh,
09:30she's going to fly
09:31now like a butterfly.
09:32That's beautiful.
09:33Yeah,
09:33beautiful like a princess
09:34and light and smooth
09:36like a butterfly.
09:37Yeah,
09:37exactly.
09:38That's true,
09:38Papa.
09:40Ellie,
09:41you've got the cardboard
09:42cutouts of the judges
09:43watching you all week
09:44in the rehearsals,
09:45so who is the most
09:46intimidating
09:47watching you all week?
09:48TV on this
09:53is great.
09:55Yeah,
09:55I know.
09:56All of us feel the same.
09:57Don't laugh at that now.
09:59He's intimidated too,
10:01I bet,
10:01right?
10:01No,
10:02it's great
10:03because he gives
10:05like all the
10:06critiques
10:07about like
10:08not feet
10:10and not arms,
10:11but at the end
10:12it's all good feedback
10:13of the harsh comments.
10:16Yes.
10:16But then like
10:18quakes are a good judge
10:20for me
10:20in my behalf,
10:22but
10:22But he's a little scary.
10:26Yeah,
10:26I hate it
10:27when it gets bad
10:28comments to me.
10:29I'm like,
10:29what?
10:30Listen,
10:31you and everybody else,
10:32Ellie,
10:33so don't worry about that.
10:34That's good.
10:34But Vito,
10:35you've got the cardboard
10:36cutouts of the judges.
10:37What else did you do
10:38last week
10:39for the waltz
10:39to help her
10:40with visual kind of cues?
10:42So definitely going
10:43in the butterfly garden
10:44helps out a lot
10:45because we were
10:46kind of observing,
10:48you know,
10:48how butterflies
10:49are floating,
10:50how they are smooth.
10:51Remember?
10:52And we said like,
10:52oh,
10:52we really get inspired
10:53by that.
10:54We were watching
10:55and observing
10:55all how they fly
10:57and after we were
10:58always,
10:58you know,
10:59getting some inspiration
11:00from the judges' feedback.
11:02We were working on
11:03The Floor is Our Friend,
11:05yeah,
11:06all the rise and fall
11:07and it was beautiful.
11:08A bit of whiteboard note.
11:10Yeah,
11:10we do have like
11:10our school corner moment.
11:12It was beautiful.
11:14Yeah.
11:15And your sister
11:16was in the audience,
11:17Amy,
11:18and she looked like
11:19she loved it.
11:19So proud of you.
11:20But what did she make
11:21of the whole performance?
11:22Oh,
11:22she loved it so,
11:24so much
11:25because often me
11:27on the stage
11:28was brilliant.
11:30But she told me,
11:31yeah,
11:31I'm doing it.
11:33Go with Ali,
11:34get up,
11:35get every toe,
11:36go and take a chance,
11:37you've got this boy,
11:38a girl
11:39and then
11:40Emmett was like,
11:43oh yeah,
11:43she could dance,
11:44she could do this
11:45and that
11:45and that
11:46and like,
11:47supportive of me.
11:49Remember before to dance,
11:50you said to me,
11:50I want to make my sister
11:51proud tonight.
11:52I did say that.
11:53Yeah,
11:54I'm sure we did.
11:54I know you did.
11:56You were,
11:56honestly,
11:57I had tears in my eyes
11:58watching the two of you.
11:59It was so beautiful.
12:00But you are through,
12:01you're going to movie week.
12:02Yes!
12:03Yes!
12:03Yes!
12:05And you're going to be
12:06dancing a samba
12:07to this.
12:10Yes,
12:11it's Dance the Night Away
12:12by Dua Lipa.
12:13You're going to be doing
12:14a tribute to the Barbie movie.
12:17Ellie,
12:17how excited are you
12:19for this dance
12:19and why?
12:21I'm so,
12:22so open the door
12:23with this dance
12:24because Barbie
12:26is my best job
12:27ever thing.
12:29But Barbie
12:30is ever to me.
12:33Like,
12:33all the movies
12:35and all the dolls
12:36and so
12:38this dance
12:38will be really great
12:40for us both
12:41songs too.
12:42It's got like
12:42all the bounciness,
12:43all the cheekiness,
12:44all the tussiness,
12:46it's got all the,
12:47what,
12:48all the vibes
12:49and it's got like
12:49everything in it.
12:50I love it.
12:51You're like in
12:52with the cool kids.
12:52It's got the vibes,
12:53the bounce,
12:54the moves,
12:55the cheekiness.
12:55She's got the samba down.
13:00But what can
13:01are you going to be
13:01in the dance?
13:03Okay,
13:04so you are
13:04disco Barbie.
13:05Yeah,
13:05so am I disco can?
13:08Is there a disco can?
13:09Yeah,
13:09I think so.
13:09Yeah.
13:10I think something
13:12with sparkle,
13:12no?
13:13Definitely.
13:13I think
13:14it could be
13:15going with sparkle can.
13:17Sparkle can.
13:18Love it.
13:19Yeah,
13:19nailed it.
13:20You're nice, baby.
13:21Done.
13:22I love this partnership.
13:23Well,
13:23have a great week of training.
13:25We can't wait
13:25to see the two of you.
13:26Let's hear it
13:27for Ellie and Vito.
13:28Yay!
13:31Now,
13:32as the competition
13:33starts to take shape,
13:34our couples are all
13:35looking for that extra edge
13:36to improve week on week.
13:38And,
13:39there is no greater edge
13:41than sitting down
13:42with a cup of tea
13:42and a notepad
13:43and listening to
13:44Joanne Clifton
13:45in Choreography Corner.
13:51Joanne Clifton,
14:06everyone.
14:07I mean,
14:07that is,
14:08I'm never going to get
14:08over that groove.
14:09It's a good little groove
14:10you've got going on there.
14:11All right,
14:11let's go straight in.
14:13We're going to kick
14:13things off tonight
14:14with Jimmy and Lauren.
14:15They did a cha-cha-cha.
14:17Now,
14:17Motsi wants Jimmy
14:18to work on his leg action,
14:19specifically knowing
14:20when to bend
14:21and when to straighten
14:22his knees.
14:23What advice
14:24would you give to him?
14:24What did you think of that?
14:25Well,
14:25the thing was,
14:26he came out
14:26and he was,
14:27what they described,
14:28more earth and earthy
14:30cha-cha-cha,
14:30like a cube
14:31and he,
14:31like,
14:31into the...
14:32My people,
14:33you know?
14:33Exactly,
14:34exactly.
14:35And normally,
14:36look at this thing,
14:36and normally,
14:37like,
14:37the judges would be
14:38really on that.
14:39They'd be like,
14:40no,
14:40you need to have
14:40straight legs
14:41in the cha-cha-cha.
14:42So,
14:42I thought to myself,
14:43like,
14:43why did they like it so much?
14:44And it was because
14:45he's so natural at it.
14:46He's got such
14:47a natural feel
14:48and because he was
14:49feeling it,
14:50we were feeling it.
14:50Exactly.
14:51However,
14:52he does need to work on,
14:53I know he's got rumba next week,
14:55so he needs to work on
14:56straightening them legs
14:56because I don't think
14:57they'll let him get away
14:58with it a second time,
14:59especially in a check,
15:00a check,
15:01say,
15:01where it's a step
15:02that you have to
15:03straighten the front
15:05and bend the back
15:06in order to then
15:07change direction.
15:08Yes.
15:08You need to show off
15:09them straight.
15:09So,
15:10he's got to focus
15:10on those knees
15:11for this week.
15:12Yeah.
15:12All right,
15:13let's do now
15:13Alex and Johannes.
15:14They had a samba.
15:15Highest scoring dance
15:17of the night.
15:18Impressive.
15:19But Craig felt
15:20it needed more tone
15:21and hip rotation,
15:22specifically in the Vultas.
15:23Yeah.
15:23So,
15:24what did you think?
15:24Well,
15:24let's have a look
15:25at the Vultas here.
15:26They're coming up
15:27and here they are.
15:28So,
15:28as you can see,
15:29the hips have kind of
15:30stopped a little bit here.
15:31Now,
15:31when we talk about
15:32the hip rotation,
15:32it can mean two things.
15:33And Craig,
15:34I think,
15:35was talking in this occasion
15:36about the figure eight,
15:37which we talked about
15:38last week,
15:38where basically,
15:39it's forward and round
15:40and forward and round.
15:42And Shirley,
15:43a lot of the time,
15:43talks about it
15:44where it's literally
15:45like doing torsion,
15:46like turn and turn,
15:48but keeping the front
15:48of the body,
15:49the top of the body straight.
15:50Yes.
15:50Which she did really well
15:52in like samba walks.
15:55I did want
15:56a little bit more like attack,
15:57a little bit more wow
15:58from her.
15:59So,
15:59I think hopefully like
16:00next week,
16:00we can have a little bit
16:01more like oomph,
16:02a bit more oomph.
16:03Maybe more oomph
16:04then for the next week.
16:05All right,
16:05Vicky and Kai,
16:06a foxtrot,
16:07beautiful foxtrot,
16:07I have to say.
16:09Anton had high praise
16:10for Vicky.
16:11Sharing the dearly
16:12departed Len
16:13would have loved
16:14her heel turn,
16:16specifically.
16:17What did you make
16:18about the foxtrot?
16:19What did you have to say about it?
16:19Well,
16:20she did do some
16:20beautiful heel turns,
16:21which is basically
16:22where you step back,
16:23you close your feet
16:23and you do a little turn
16:25as your partner steps around
16:26and that was amazing.
16:27I just feel like
16:27she's such a natural dancer.
16:29She's so like,
16:30it's like a cosy,
16:31warm feeling
16:32watching her.
16:32You feel safe.
16:33We did have a good frame
16:34at the beginning,
16:35but it got lost
16:36halfway through the dance
16:37where we had the curves,
16:38but then she got
16:38in front of him
16:39and I'll show you
16:40particularly where
16:41in demo time.
16:44I'll have a demo with you.
16:46So,
16:47we're going to do,
16:48we're going to do
16:49a fall away
16:50with Brothers' favourite
16:51unless you do it in practice.
16:52Okay.
16:53And so we're going to go
16:54and one,
16:55two,
16:56three,
16:57four.
16:57Okay?
16:58Yes.
16:58So what Vicky was doing
16:59was changing her head
17:00too early.
17:01One,
17:01two,
17:02here.
17:03Oh, too much.
17:03So I'm in front.
17:04Okay?
17:05If she could just stretch
17:06a little bit more
17:07and turn her head later.
17:08One,
17:09two,
17:09three.
17:10Oh, yes.
17:12Four.
17:12And then you can see
17:13there's a gap
17:13between our heads.
17:14Lucky men
17:15that got to dance with you.
17:17Okay, right.
17:17Let's go on to
17:18Ross and Yavita.
17:20They did a waltz.
17:21Monty, Shirley
17:22and Anton
17:22all agreed that Ross
17:23had really got better
17:25throughout the last week.
17:27But Monty felt
17:27that Ross still needs
17:28to work on his musicality
17:29though.
17:30Yeah.
17:30How would you help
17:31Ross progress?
17:32Well, first of all,
17:33I want to say
17:33that he came out
17:34and he was doing
17:34some lovely heel knees.
17:35I was really,
17:36really pleased
17:36as he looked.
17:37There we go.
17:37Wow.
17:38Lovely, lovely feet.
17:39But then halfway through
17:40it looked like to me
17:41that inside himself
17:43he was counting
17:44or saying
17:45forward,
17:46side,
17:46close
17:46or one,
17:47two,
17:48three.
17:48And it was quite staccato
17:49the way he was counting.
17:50So what he was doing
17:51was cutting short the two
17:52and then his feet
17:53were closing the three
17:54a little bit early
17:55before the beat.
17:56So we didn't have
17:57any like rise and fall
17:58filling out the music
17:59or any sway
18:00or anything like that.
18:01Now,
18:01if you think of a swing
18:02because it is a pendulum action,
18:04one,
18:05two,
18:05three,
18:06one.
18:07We've got all this time,
18:08two,
18:09three,
18:10one.
18:11And the three,
18:12one blends in.
18:13So I think just counting
18:14maybe
18:14in a different way.
18:16extending each count
18:17as much as possible.
18:18Two, three,
18:18one.
18:18Okay.
18:19Will help
18:19rather than going
18:20one,
18:21two,
18:21three.
18:21Okay.
18:22Let's go now
18:23to Karen and Carlos.
18:24They did a tango.
18:25Shirley complimented
18:26Karen's precision
18:27but what stood out
18:29the most to you
18:30in this routine?
18:30I loved the stillness.
18:32There was some positions
18:34at the beginning
18:34of the routine
18:35where she was just
18:35really still
18:36and it was a little bit
18:37like a horror film
18:38in a good way.
18:39In a good way.
18:39In a good way.
18:40You know when the music
18:41completely cuts out
18:42in a horror film
18:42and you're like in it
18:43and then bam,
18:44something happens.
18:45And that's exactly
18:46what she did.
18:46We were in the performance
18:47because she was so still.
18:49Now,
18:49she does have
18:49the spine problem
18:51but I have got
18:51a little cheat
18:52that we can maybe use.
18:54Okay.
18:54Now,
18:54I normally say
18:55the right hip
18:56hooked onto the belt
18:57of your partner.
18:59I'm going to say
18:59move over
19:00a little bit more.
19:02Okay.
19:02A little bit further over.
19:05We'll open up
19:06Carlos' right side
19:07as well.
19:08So,
19:08we'll get a further
19:09over here.
19:10Lift up the chin
19:11and then together
19:12rotate.
19:14Have a little rotation.
19:15So,
19:15she's here
19:16rather than here.
19:18There.
19:19And then rotate.
19:21And I think
19:21that will give
19:22an illusion
19:22of a bigger frame.
19:24All right.
19:24Let's go now
19:24to George and Alexis.
19:26They did a Paso Doble.
19:27What a Paso Doble
19:29as well.
19:29It's my favourite one.
19:30Oh my God.
19:31Monsi wants to see
19:32the more fluidity
19:33from George
19:33when he goes
19:35from foot to foot.
19:36Any advice
19:37that you'd give him
19:38to help him achieve that?
19:39I think it was
19:39a little bit
19:40foot to foot
19:40but also from
19:41figure to figure
19:42like step to step
19:43and there was
19:43just a few more
19:44and look at this.
19:45But this is the
19:45This is what I wanted
19:46to find.
19:46Yes.
19:47But yeah.
19:48So,
19:48it looked like
19:48he was finishing
19:49one step
19:49and then going
19:50OK,
19:51now here's the next one.
19:52So we just need
19:52a little bit
19:53more fluid in that.
19:53But here
19:54as we can see
19:54the lines
19:55I was so impressed
19:56because it's as if
19:57like he had an energy
19:58of a violin string
19:59just like pulled
20:00so tight
20:00and you know
20:01when they're playing
20:01it's like
20:01like that
20:03and it was still
20:04kind of breathing
20:05and moving
20:05but there was
20:06this tension
20:06it was just
20:07right.
20:07He did.
20:07He would have
20:08gave me that
20:08underwater pressure feeling.
20:10That.
20:11Careful of
20:12the feet turned in.
20:13Oh, that's all.
20:14Turn them out.
20:14OK.
20:15Balvinda and Julian
20:16they did a Charleston
20:17close the show.
20:18Amazing.
20:19High praise
20:19from all the judges
20:20and they all noticed
20:21improvement in her as well
20:22but Craig felt
20:23that more energy
20:24was needed
20:24in Balvinda's arms
20:26so what is your verdict?
20:27Do you agree?
20:28Do you think
20:28I slightly agree
20:30but I do think
20:31she did amazingly well
20:32it was a great ending
20:33to the show
20:33and she's obviously
20:34having a great time.
20:35The Charleston's
20:36hungry though.
20:37Yes, with Lindy Hop
20:39as well
20:39aspects of it
20:40you do kind of
20:41fling your arms out
20:42a little bit
20:42but sometimes
20:43you need to
20:43throw them
20:44and then stop
20:46so it gives
20:47the arms purpose
20:47or it gives
20:48a storytelling
20:49kind of thing
20:50and also
20:51with the stop
20:52it looks a bit
20:53more in sync
20:53with your partner
20:54rather than just
20:55going
20:55Yeah, we'll look
20:57cleaner I guess
20:57like you said
20:58Lewis and Katya
20:59Viennese Waltz
21:01Anton and Craig
21:02both praised
21:03Lewis's power
21:04but Anton also
21:05believes that
21:06it's all about
21:06refinement now
21:07for Lewis
21:08so how can Lewis
21:09keep the intensity
21:10while still working
21:12towards this
21:12refinement
21:13that they need
21:13I mean
21:13I liked it
21:15I was more on
21:16Craig and Anton's
21:17side
21:17I thought Shirley
21:18was quite harsh
21:18with them
21:19because if it was
21:20more of a
21:20classical music
21:21like
21:21then yeah
21:24we'd do it soft
21:25but this music
21:26lent itself
21:26and the storytelling
21:27the story that
21:28Katya's created
21:28lent itself to it
21:29however we do
21:30need light and shade
21:31so maybe in some
21:33areas we could have
21:34softened up a little
21:35bit to make the
21:35more powerful ones
21:36even more powerful
21:38yeah
21:38in terms of
21:40head and frame
21:42when he sways
21:43be careful
21:44especially this way
21:44one two three
21:46he was like
21:46swaying and
21:47coming back on
21:48himself
21:48so we want
21:49one two
21:51stretch this side
21:52up to where
21:52you're going
21:53there
21:53and then remember
21:54where you've been
21:55on the other
21:56side
21:56so it keeps
21:57Katya here
21:57rather than
21:58going into
21:59her space
22:00he breaks it
22:00too much a little
22:01bit doesn't he
22:02and gets into
22:02Katya's
22:03but you're right
22:03I mean he was
22:04in a cage
22:05he came out
22:06he did a whole
22:07thing
22:07story to it
22:08which I love
22:09yeah
22:10and we like
22:10seeing different
22:11things on Strictly
22:11so it works
22:12exactly
22:13well you have been
22:14absolutely brilliant
22:15this has been a
22:15lovely two days
22:16can we do it
22:16again sometime
22:17we will
22:18I'll come to your
22:18house next Saturday
22:19next up
22:25Stefan made
22:25Strictly history
22:26at the weekend
22:27by becoming
22:28the first contestant
22:29to come out of
22:29hair and makeup
22:30more grey
22:31than when he went
22:32in
22:32and luckily
22:33for him and
22:33Diane
22:33they delivered
22:34a cha-cha-cha
22:35that had the
22:36audience rooting
22:37for them
22:37you have a
22:40brilliant partnership
22:40and you have
22:41a brilliant energy
22:42you guys are
22:43like sunshine
22:44your actual
22:46performance was
22:46very good
22:47but unfortunately
22:48there was quite
22:48an element
22:49that wasn't
22:49quite right
22:50you're picking
22:51your feet up
22:52way too much
22:53which makes
22:54it look stumpy
22:55but full of
22:56content
22:57proper proper
22:57content
22:58baby give it up
23:03for Stefan
23:04and Diane
23:05you said
23:06though on
23:07Saturday night
23:08that the
23:08cha-cha-cha
23:09had you stumped
23:10how do you
23:10feel about it
23:11now
23:11I feel great
23:13because I'm
23:13never going
23:14to do it
23:14again
23:14fair enough
23:18if I can
23:18understand
23:19and then
23:20that was a
23:20routine that
23:20was packed
23:21with so much
23:22content
23:22how much
23:23does that
23:24point to the
23:24trust that you've
23:25got in Stefan
23:25well I think
23:27Stefan has
23:28huge potential
23:29and look
23:29if I don't
23:30push him
23:30we'll never
23:31know
23:32will we
23:32and the
23:33thing is
23:33he did
23:34this routine
23:35so many
23:36times
23:37brilliantly
23:37well
23:38so it's
23:39not like
23:39he wasn't
23:40capable
23:40to do it
23:41it was just
23:42on the night
23:43some bits
23:44sort of
23:44fell apart
23:45but that's
23:45all
23:45you sent me
23:46a really nice
23:46thing over the
23:47weekend
23:47that said
23:48if you don't
23:49make mistakes
23:50no what is it
23:51if you make
23:51mistakes
23:52it shows
23:52you're trying
23:52exactly
23:53I did
23:54I sent him
23:54that because
23:54I knew he
23:55felt a bit
23:55down about it
23:56and that is
23:57the thing
23:58strictly
23:58it's so hard
23:59to go out
24:00there
24:00especially
24:00someone like
24:01Stefan
24:02who's never
24:02done this
24:03before
24:03it's also
24:04new
24:04cha-cha's
24:05a fast
24:05dance
24:06the timing
24:07is so
24:08unique
24:09there's so
24:10much to it
24:11that you're bound
24:13to make a mistake
24:13here or there
24:14and all you can do
24:16is try your best
24:18and that is it
24:18and that is what
24:19he definitely did
24:20exactly
24:20and if you think
24:21about it
24:21all the work
24:22that you do
24:22in the week
24:23for just about
24:2390 seconds
24:24sometimes it just
24:25happens
24:26you know what I mean
24:26so no stress
24:27that's fine
24:28but there was
24:28one part of the
24:29dance that
24:29definitely stood out
24:30and caught the eye
24:31of everyone
24:31Stefan dubbed it
24:33the floor pump
24:34I kind of love
24:36that name
24:37how much fun
24:40was it to learn
24:40that part of the
24:41dance
24:41that was actually
24:42probably one of the
24:43most fun parts
24:44of the whole
24:44training thing
24:45because we never
24:46got it wrong
24:46apart from when I
24:47put the wrong leg
24:48forward
24:48which was so fun
24:49oh my gosh
24:50so all week
24:52I yelled out
24:53on this specific
24:54moment
24:54right leg
24:56literally from day
24:57one up until
24:58the night
24:59on the night
25:01for some reason
25:02and I was like
25:03because I can't
25:04see him
25:04I went
25:05left leg
25:06and now I
25:07I mean
25:08right leg
25:09by which stage
25:10my right leg
25:10was out
25:11so it was
25:11alright
25:11and I partied
25:12because I was like
25:13oh no
25:14I've just yelled
25:14out left leg
25:15and all I've said
25:16all week
25:16is right leg
25:17he's going to do
25:18the left leg
25:18and we're going
25:19I was like
25:19do I do my
25:20left leg now
25:21I'm in front
25:22I don't know
25:22what to do
25:23I'm just going
25:23to go with
25:23what I know
25:24and luckily
25:25you went with
25:26your right leg
25:26well done
25:27you didn't listen
25:28to your teacher
25:28thank you
25:29well done
25:29for not listening
25:30to Diane
25:31everybody
25:31over there
25:34Monty said
25:34that you needed
25:35to rehearse more
25:36because of the mistakes
25:37that happened
25:38on the night
25:38but you couldn't
25:39have rehearsed more
25:40you did a lot
25:41of training
25:41what did that
25:41comment mean to you
25:42no look
25:43the judges
25:44don't know
25:44how much
25:45we train
25:46and all of that
25:47so you know
25:47a fair comment
25:49coming from her
25:49however
25:50we literally
25:51have rehearsed
25:53our maximum
25:54amount of hours
25:55he is someone
25:57that repeats
25:58repeats
25:58repeats
25:59repeats
25:59to the point
26:00that I have to tell him
26:01we need to have a break
26:02like I am the one
26:03saying I think
26:04we need to have
26:05a little moment
26:05to rest the brain
26:06well we thought
26:07your dance
26:07was a great tribute
26:08to 80s pop music
26:09but it's not the first time
26:10that you've done that
26:11this series
26:12let's remind ourselves
26:14everybody keeps saying to me
26:37why don't you re-release it
26:39well we have
26:39we have
26:40we re-released it
26:42but how much fun
26:44are you having in training
26:45are you having the best time
26:46yeah we are
26:47even though I said
26:48we still manage to have
26:49a good laugh
26:49in between
26:50don't we
26:50we do
26:51well whatever you're doing
26:51it's working
26:52because you got through
26:53to movie week
26:54and you're going to be doing
26:56a strictly tribute
26:57to the movie
26:57Shrek
26:58and it's a waltz
26:59to this

27:42because of the
27:43I've already done
27:44the fox strut
27:44it's amazing how
27:45similar some of the
27:47even though it's
27:48completely different dance
27:49the
27:50similar techniques
27:52like the
27:53frame
27:53some of the footwork
27:55even though it's a rise and fall
