00:00We're back. I'm so excited.
00:03Yeah, and this year it's out with the old and in with the new
00:06because we've got a brand new set.
00:08I know, and I hear we've got a cracking team that's built it.
00:10I'm sure it's going to be amazing.
00:12Great. Who are they?
00:18Guys, it's ready.
00:20It's beautiful.
00:22You're going to love it.
00:30I think we're going to need a new Gleezer ball.
00:34If you want the job done right, it takes two.
01:00Please welcome your hosts, Jeanette Manrara and Fleur East.
01:09Nailed it.
01:10Oh, yeah.

01:34and the downright amazing moments

01:38And while we've been working hard for the money,
01:4015 brand new celebrities
01:41have been working hard in the training room.
01:44It's our class of 2025, everybody.
01:47Oh, look at them.
01:48So shiny.
01:49On Saturday night,
01:50it was lights, camera, action
01:52for the very first time.
01:53What a night it was.
01:54This lot are going to be good, aren't they?
01:55I think they are.
01:56I don't think they know what they're in for.
01:58Strictly is once again the talk of the town.
02:01And as always, we want to hear from you.

02:17And remember to tell us who you are and where you're from.
02:21Right.
02:21No time to waste.
02:22Let's see which of our divine duos are on our sofa tonight.
02:26Ooh.
02:27Amber and Nikita's last few days
02:29were a bit like a Craig David song.
02:31Got the call on Thursday,
02:32rehearsed on Friday,
02:33performed on Saturday,
02:35and chilled on Sunday.
02:36But they're spending their Monday night
02:38chatting to us all about the whirlwind weekends.
02:41Alex and Johannes brought the house down
02:43with their steamy Viennese waltz
02:45that flowed like a river.
02:46But was Craig right to only give it a four?
02:49We'll be asking them whether they were undermarked.
02:51Harry and Karen hit the gym,
02:54pushed it,
02:54and pulled off a dance
02:55we won't forget anytime soon.
02:57We'll be working out
02:58how they plan to go one step further
03:00on the back
03:01of this epic cha-cha.
03:03And she's lovingly known
03:05as It Takes Two's third wheel.
03:06Joanne Clifton is here
03:07for the return
03:08of Choreography Corner.
03:12But first,
03:13strap yourself in
03:14as we recap
03:15the first live show
03:16of the series.
03:16And where else but strictly
03:18would you be able to find
03:19a neon gym,
03:20a yellow card,
03:21and a pink pony?
03:22It's not,
03:23I ain't horsing around.
03:24Ay.
03:26Welcome
03:27to Strictly Come Dancing
03:29and the first live show.
03:33Beautiful footwork.
03:34I mean,
03:35you're setting the bar for sure.
03:37This energy
03:39like dynamite.
03:41You're very good,
03:42Charla.
03:45I'm sorry, Tess,
03:45I want to have lots of good crap.
03:46Will you put on proper up the breath?
03:50Let me tell you,
03:51you've got a viral moment in there.
03:53How are you moving?
03:53Oh!
03:57You moved beautifully.
03:59Welcome
03:59to your baby child.
04:03That was full of intent.
04:08I love this.
04:09You look spectacular.
04:10I've got a bath mat that matches.
04:11You should speak.
04:12Perfect.
04:14There's a lot to like.
04:15There was a lot that went wrong,
04:16but I think you'll do fine.
04:19There was some timing issues,
04:20and it's a little bit clunky in the heels.
04:23It's week one.
04:24It's a samba.
04:25You gave it your best.
04:26Keep going.
04:27There was more tin soldier
04:29than it was matador,
04:31I'm afraid.
04:33You were absolutely shining.
04:36You're like a bright star.
04:39You have amazing potential.
04:42It was just sensational.
04:44Best dance of the night for me.
04:48Welcome to the show.
04:50I can't believe this is going to be my Saturday night.
04:52We'll get on to Saturday in just a moment,
05:00but before we do,
05:01last week was a bit wild.
05:03Can you just talk us through that 24 hours
05:05before you were announced, Amber?
05:06Okay.
05:07I had a phone call Thursday night,
05:10and Friday morning, 9 o'clock,
05:13I was in the rehearsal room with Nikita.
05:15Wild.
05:16Wild.
05:16Really wild.
05:17And then we just had to have, like,
05:19a crash course bonding session.
05:21Yeah.
05:22Yeah, well...
05:22Asking each other second names and things like that.
05:25What's your favourite colour?
05:26Yeah, just learning how to even pronounce.
05:28Dancing the waltzes.
05:29Amber...
05:29Amber what?
05:30I was like, David.
05:31David.
05:32Okay, yes.
05:32And I know you're a Capricorn.
05:34Yes.
05:35And I'm a...
05:37Dante.
05:37So it's going well.
05:38Libra.
05:39Libra.
05:39Libra.
05:40Yes.
05:41It's going really well, guys.
05:42Buddy listens.
05:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can see that.
05:43So you've obviously had some dance experience before,
05:45but you've never done Latin or ballroom.
05:47How much do you think your musicality
05:49helped you through this routine?
05:51Musicality helped a lot.
05:53You know, I can...
05:54I can hear the music.
05:56I can...
05:57I can feel the music.
05:58It was the technique aspect
06:01where we didn't have time
06:03to think about heel and toe.
06:07It's going to be literally the only time
06:09I ever going to say to any of my students,
06:12don't worry about the heels.
06:13Heels don't matter now.
06:14Let's just get any routine on.
06:17Let's just get the frame and let's keep going.
06:19It all changes from here.
06:20Ballroom and Latin are worlds apart
06:22from what I've experienced on a West End stage.
06:25You know, it's completely different techniques.
06:28You smashed them, though.
06:29You smashed them.
06:30It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.
06:32Really?
06:32Yeah.
06:33Oh, yeah, it's only weak one.
06:34I know.
06:34It's only weak one.
06:35Buckle up.
06:36So, Nikita, this wasn't even the dance
06:37that you were planning to do with Danny.
06:38No, not at all.
06:39So how did you just whip up a waltz
06:40in, like, two seconds?
06:41Yeah.
06:41Oh, just...
06:43You're telling me, Jack.
06:44No, honestly, I was just happy to be able to be part of the best show on telly
06:51because, obviously, it was so, so gutting, all of this happening
06:55and I would have whipped out whatever you want me to whip out at that moment
06:59just to be...
07:00Okay.
07:01Just to come back to Strictly, baby.
07:04I'm ready to do whatever you want.
07:06And have you caught up with Danny and asked how she's doing?
07:08I did and Danny, honestly, she's such a lovely, lovely human.
07:13I was trying to go back to her and check on her
07:15and she kept just telling me,
07:16don't worry about me, I'm okay.
07:18You just have this beautiful journey with Danny.
07:20You deserve it.
07:21And it's, honestly, for me, it's really hard to switch off that.
07:24But, obviously, as well, Amber deserves to have her full, Strictly journey.
07:28You do it only once in a lifetime.
07:29I know.
07:29But I did want to do well on Saturday for Danny.
07:32Just to be like...
07:33Yes, yes.
07:34You know.
07:34To be like, I've got it, babe.
07:35I've got it.
07:36I'm holding it down for you.
07:37I'll do it for us.
07:38Well, Strictly waits around for no man or woman.
07:41You've already started rehearsing your next dance
07:42and I can exclusively reveal you'll be doing a samba to this.
07:49Bam, bam.
07:50Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran.
07:52Oh, I love it.
07:53How excited are you, Amber, for your first full week of training?
07:57I know.
07:59Terrified, actually.
08:00We've done one day today and I'm in pieces.
08:03My feet are falling apart.
08:06Literally, yeah.
08:06Literally falling apart.
08:07But it's given us more of an opportunity to get all the details in and things like that
08:14and for me not to be so nervous on Saturday, hopefully.
08:16Well, you pay attention to the details.
08:18We've seen that you like to learn by writing things down.
08:20So what have you written down so far in your notebook?
08:22Oh, gosh, yeah.
08:22Today, nothing.
08:24Oh.
08:25Because we had, basically, Nikita threw the choreography at me and we were on a bit of a time limit so I didn't have time to get my notebook out.
08:34But it'll come out tomorrow.
08:36Don't you worry.
08:36Okay.
08:37Well, we thought since you were given such short notice, we would give you a little gift.
08:42It's your very own Strictly Pen.
08:44Yay!
08:44Thank you so much.
08:47I did say little gift.
08:49Oh, gosh.
08:49I like it.
08:50I love it.
08:50I literally will not be seeing the end of this book now.
08:53Oh, yeah, that's it.
08:54We'll just be writing down things.
08:55All the notes.
08:56All the notes, yes.
08:57Now, both Valvinda and Chris were in the bottom half of the leaderboard, Nikita, with their sambas.
09:02How tricky is this dance, Tomasa?
09:04Yeah, let's be honest.
09:05Samba is the hardest dance of them all.
09:07And I thought both of them did really, really well.
09:10I love their sambas.
09:11And this week, all I hope to do, actually, is for Amber to enjoy the samba, listen to the things, go out on the floor confident, ready with food, four days of rehearsals and not just a couple.
09:25And, yeah, and then we're just going to shimmy, we're going to have fun, we're going to enjoy this song.
09:31And what are we going to be?
09:32Panther.
09:33Yes, panthera.
09:34Panthera.
09:35Panthera.
09:35He said, be a panther.
09:36Yes.
09:37I was like...
09:37You had an amazing samba, you know, like all of that yummy, yummy, yummy, yeah, bouncy.
09:42Well, I can't wait to see the animalistic samba.
09:45Yes.
09:45Oh, I'm going to take that.
09:47Have you had to cancel any plans to fit this week into your schedule?
09:51A dentist appointment this week, actually, which I'm not mad about, you know, I'm not a massive fan of the dentist.
09:58I mean, I'll switch strictly for a dentist, isn't it?
10:00So, yeah, absolutely, yeah.
10:01Bring some floss to rehearsals.
10:02Yeah, I'll be fine.
10:03Enjoy your first full week of training together.
10:06It's Amber and Nikita, everybody!
10:09Jeanette?
10:10Thanks, Fleur.
10:12Next up, it's Alex and Johannes.
10:14And the lady in red left us with nothing to cry about on Saturday night as she performed a beautiful Viennese waltz.
10:24I think that was off to a great start.
10:27Your passion and your intensity, the direct focus, all that I love.
10:32The shoulders, unfortunately, were raised.
10:34It was very lumpy for my liking.
10:37There wasn't quite enough in-holds, but all in all, it was a super-duper Viennese waltz.
10:43Well done.
10:49It's Alex and Johannes.
10:51You were just watching that with a massive smile on your face.
10:53I haven't watched it.
10:55Have you not watched it yet?
10:56No.
10:56Oh, you must.
10:57It was brilliant, I can tell you that.
10:58Now, you've been used to performing on stage and screening for over 30 years, but how different is it to dance in front of the nation?
11:04It is, it's different, and I sort of felt slightly like Jekyll and Hyde because I was with a live audience in the studio.
11:14So then I'm thinking, oh, well, this is like being in the theatre.
11:17But then suddenly I realised, well, actually, no, you've got to play to the camera because there are millions of people watching on television.
11:24So I didn't know quite what to do.
11:27In fact, I didn't know where the cameras were.
11:30That's good.
11:31You were lost in the moment.
11:31I was lost in the moment.
11:32I was lost in Johannes.
11:34Oh, can you not be?
11:34Look at him, right?
11:36And Johannes, this routine, it felt so dramatic, and there was so much choreography in there as well.
11:42What have you seen in Alex in the short amount of time that you felt so early in the competition?
11:45You can give her that.
11:46You know what?
11:47The truth is, the first time we hit it off, she said to me, Johannes, you will never have to ask me to give.
11:53And I was like, darling, that is what we want.
11:57And that is what strictly...
11:57Say that again?
11:58You know what I mean?
12:00It's nice when people can go beyond themselves.
12:03And that's what I realised in our first days of rehearsal.
12:06And I just played into that.
12:09Yeah, you gave...
12:09You fed his soul.
12:11Oh, my gosh.
12:12This man has such soul.
12:15And that's what I feel.
12:17And that's what I see when I look into your eyes.
12:20Look at the two of you already.
12:21It's only week one.
12:23But Alex, turning hasn't come easy this last week.
12:26What have you been doing to combat the dizziness of the Venus Mars?
12:29Oh, my gosh.
12:30Well, in that first week, I think it was day two, I just said to Jojo,
12:34I have to have motion sickness tablets.
12:38Because I will not be able to actually complete this dance without...
12:42So I did.
12:42I took motion sickness tablets every single day.
12:45Yeah.
12:45It's a lot of spinning in the Venus Mars.
12:47People don't realise, but you're constantly turning.
12:49And the thing is, when you're moving and spinning, it's fine.
12:53It's when you stop.
12:54And because the very end of our dance was so dramatic,
12:58and there's that stop, and I walk away from him...
13:01You're wobbling away from him.
13:03You're wobbling away from Dan.
13:06It wasn't a good look.
13:07Well, we're glad you took the pills, because they looked amazing on the night.
13:11But you got a lot of positive feedback from everybody that watched.
13:14However, Craig gave it a four.
13:17I shall not talk about it.
13:18The pros in Claudia's area were all screaming,
13:19never at the top of their lungs.
13:22And you also had an amazing message from Amy Louise.
13:24She said this on Instagram.
13:25You definitely deserved a higher mark.
13:29I think being one of the first on stage made them score lower,
13:32because this was beautiful and captivating.
13:35Isn't that nice?
13:36Thank you very much, Amy Louise.
13:38Yes.
13:39What do you make of that, what Amy Louise said?
13:41Do you think so?
13:42Well, I mean, of course, the judges, they score as they feel,
13:49and one has to respect that.
13:51But I also was thinking, maybe Craig knows that I have an advantage,
13:56a dancing advantage, because I do dance when I'm cooking
13:59and when I'm ironing.
14:00Right.
14:00Oh, good.
14:01Good to know.
14:02What about yourself, Jojo?
14:03Did you agree?
14:04How do you feel about the four?
14:05No, honestly, I thought, you know what?
14:06The judges' scores were fair.
14:08We've got a long way to go in that regard.
14:11And everything they've mentioned is something that we can definitely improve on.
14:14And I said to Alex, I said, this is where it starts.
14:17And I just want to come back in the following weeks better and stronger
14:23and crush those...
14:25But they did like it, the judges.
14:26They did.
14:27They did like it.
14:27But their criticisms are a little bit like director's notes before you do a play.
14:32So, you know, the notes are there to help you improve and better your performance.
14:37And so that must be also what their criticisms are.
14:40Which is great, because you've got another dance coming this week,
14:42so you can use that for this dance.
14:44And this week, we can reveal you're going to be dancing a samba to this classic.
14:48La bamba, bamba.
14:50That is La Bamba by Connie Francis.
14:52You can't hear this song and not give a bit of a shimmy in your chair.
14:56Now, Alex, you've been teaching Johannes to kind of really feel the song
15:00before you start dancing to it.
15:02So when the two of you first heard this song, what kind of feels did you get?
15:05Well, to be perfectly honest, we're doing so many VTs this week
15:09that we don't have time to feel and improvise and things.
15:13I mean, literally, he's like, no, no, we've got to start training.
15:16It's the second week always takes people by surprise,
15:19because you don't have the two weeks you used to have on the first one.
15:21Exactly.
15:22And, Johannes, you also did a samba in week two last year with Montel.
15:25It was brilliant.
15:26You got an impressive 30 points for it.
15:29What would you be working on to repeat that score
15:31or maybe even go on better?
15:33You know what?
15:34Unfair to Alex, but I've thrown everything in the kitchen sink with this one.
15:37Yes!
15:38I did not tell her how difficult it was going to be,
15:40but I am making sure that Shirley will walk away with a smile.
15:44Ooh, no pressure, Alex.
15:47No pressure.
15:48My God.
15:49Well, best of luck for the weekend.
15:50You were brilliant.
15:51Congratulations again.
15:52Let's give it up for Alex and Johannes.
15:56Over to you, Fleur.
15:57Thanks.
15:58Now, the first dance on Strictly can be a testing experience for anyone.
16:0211 years ago, a pro named Joanne Clifton
16:04debuted and finished rock bottom of the leaderboard.
16:07Sorry, Scott Mills.
16:08Now, she spends her Mondays and Tuesdays teaching us
16:11how to not make the same mistakes she did.
16:13It's time for Choreography Corner.
16:34Please welcome back Joanne Clifton.
16:36I can't believe it's been nine months since I've seen you.
16:40You've been really busy.
16:42You're back on stage at the moment in 40 Towers, the play,
16:44and you've just got engaged.
16:46Oh, no, no, I'm crying again.
16:48Bit on the nose, white dress.
16:51Congratulations.
16:52We're so happy for you.
16:54Right, we've got loads to talk about.
16:55Yes.
16:55Let's talk about Saturday night.
16:56Let's go.
16:57Now, we're starting with our self-confessed Strictly super fan,
17:00Barbinda, and her samba.
17:02Lots of positive feedback for them.
17:04But Craig felt it lacked bounce.
17:06What are your thoughts on this?
17:07Well, I kind of agreed with the judges in a sense.
17:09I think her top half is amazing.
17:11She's really selling herself.
17:12She's great at the top.
17:14The bottom half needs some work.
17:15And obviously, bounce is one of the main things they look for in the samba.
17:19And we know that it is basically the extension and compression of the ankles,
17:23the knees, and the hips going forwards and backwards.
17:25But we need the feet in there as well.
17:27And I think that's where she was going wrong.
17:29She was kind of doing her samba steps on a flat foot and a bent knee already.
17:32So I wanted to practice one thing that will help in every single dance.
17:36Just when she's got five minutes, count to eight.
17:38Go slowly up on her toes.
17:40Three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
17:41Hold for eight.
17:42And then go slowly down for eight.
17:46And continue for five minutes on that.
17:47Imagine there's like a thick coil or spring underneath her heel.
17:52And that will get her to use her feet more.
17:54Okay, nice.
17:54On to Ellie and Vito and the cha-cha-cha.
17:57The judges mentioned footwork.
17:59But they all praised her musicality and timing.
18:01What did you think?
18:02Oh, she's a little firecracker, isn't she?
18:03Yes.
18:04Oh, she came out.
18:05She was fierce.
18:05She was bang on the beat.
18:07She was amazing.
18:07Obviously, we can see she does pick her feet up a little bit.
18:10We spoke, I think it was last year, about how we can practice that.
18:14We get some sheets of paper under each foot and go across the floor doing rumble.
18:19Walks backwards and forwards to keep her feet on the floor.
18:21She was very good in a backwards lock.
18:23She actually kept them on the floor on that, which I was surprised because that's a difficult
18:26step to do it on.
18:27But she did do a great step, which I love.
18:30And we're going to show you in demo time.
18:35Demo time back.
18:36Right, come here.
18:37Here's what we prepared earlier.
18:38We're going to do the Turkish towel.
18:41Okay.
18:42And you get into it, you hold like this.
18:43There are other ways, but we're going to hold like this, like Ellie and Vito.
18:47You're going to go back forward, like rock.
18:49I'm going to go forward, back.
18:51We go cha-cha-cha.
18:52And then the other side.
18:53And it's a Turkish towel because it's like drying your back with a towel.
18:58Oh, yeah.
18:58I love it.
18:59Excellent.
19:00I feel warmed up now.
19:01We're back.
19:01We're back.
19:02On to George and Alexis and the American Smooth.
19:04Now, Anton wanted George to work on his shoulders.
19:07Yes.
19:08And Shirley felt that his frame collapsed on occasion.
19:11Where could you see that and how can he work on this?
19:13Well, out of hold, he was actually really coordinated.
19:15He was great.
19:17In hold, you see that his left arm is a little bit too high,
19:21his elbow's above the shoulder, and his right arm gets a little bit loose.
19:25Now, how I want him to practice that is get a broomstick
19:28or something like a broomstick.
19:31You can either tie it across his back, tie it to both arms,
19:34or get it like this, just like that.
19:37And in front of a mirror, do lots of shapes and sways,
19:40and that way you can see that your elbows stay in line
19:44rather than having one up and one down like this,
19:48and it's uncoordinated.
19:49Everyone's going to be running off to the kitchen now for a broom.
19:51On to Tom and Amy and the Pasadopla.
19:53Now, Craig felt that this was more tin soldier than Matador.
19:57Yes.
19:57Shirley commended his oval shaping, though.
20:00Who do you agree with?
20:01I think he had great oval shaping.
20:03The oval shaping is like the hips forward,
20:05the Matador position, but in hold,
20:07so it's like they've got a hula hoop around them inside their frame.
20:10So he had that great.
20:11But as we can see on this, when he's still and he does a line,
20:16he has a great Matador, or I call it the banana shape,
20:19with the pelvis forward.
20:20But when he's walking, he lost it.
20:23So I don't know if he'll do Paso again,
20:25but for those of you who will,
20:27what you've got to imagine whilst you're walking
20:28is there's a little hook on your belt buckle,
20:30and it is pulling it forward as you walk.
20:34The fact, though, that he did it kind of wrong,
20:36and he was, like, in a normal posture doing it,
20:38made me think, ballroom boy.
20:40Oh, you're calling it early.
20:42She's called it early.
20:43Let's move on to Karen and Carlos and the jive.
20:46Our lioness flew to the top of the leaderboard
20:49and even got a standing ovation from Shirley and Motsi.
20:52What made this jive worthy of the top spot for you?
20:55Oh, do you know what it was?
20:56I screamed.
20:57I got emotional watching this at home in my living room
20:59because it doesn't happen often.
21:02But what she made me feel,
21:03and I'm sure other pro dancers would feel the same,
21:06it was transmitted through the TV screen,
21:09just this joy, this real passion and joy
21:13and grit and determination.
21:15And it was like, yeah, come on.
21:16And I got emotional at that.
21:17I think, though, even though it was OK in the jive,
21:20because, as I think it was Shirley said,
21:21you can compress here, you contract this stomach
21:24because you've got that kind of posture,
21:26she needs to be careful of her shoulders being up
21:28in all the other dances
21:29because she's got a short neck and her shoulders up a little bit.
21:32So I want her to imagine two seat belts
21:34pulling over her shoulders and into her back,
21:38her shoulder blades, feel them in the back
21:39and just keep practising that every day
21:41to try and correct that posture.
21:43Suddenly really conscious of my posture.
21:45OK, next up, Ross and Yavita and the cha-cha-cha.
21:49Now, they were bottom of the leaderboard,
21:51but Shirley praised his attitude.
21:53What does Ross need to focus on, do you think?
21:55I mean, obviously, he was loving life.
21:57Yeah.
21:57You saw him come on, he was like, yay!
21:59Oh, look it there.
22:00But he was loving life.
22:02But, yeah, he gave it and he's got rhythm.
22:05He was actually doing a lot with his head,
22:07but he's like to the beat.
22:08And I was like, yeah, he's got the rhythm, he's good.
22:10But, yes, I agree with the judges.
22:12He didn't quite get over his feet enough,
22:15which, like, if you do this and you've not got your weight over,
22:18you're going to move that foot again.
22:20You end up on the wrong foot.
22:21What I'd like him to do, I'm going to say sternum
22:23rather than centre,
22:24because I don't want him to come forward and do this.
22:26I want his sternum over the ball of the foot
22:29every time and to attack the space with that,
22:32to keep his posture and to keep attacking.
22:34A bit like, you know, like a wrestler
22:36who's confronting his component and he comes forward
22:38and he's like, chest, chest, chest.
22:39Chest out.
22:40He was doing a bit more like the scared opponent.
22:43I mean, but props to doing the routine in a fur jacket.
22:45I know, right?
22:46It must have been boiling.
22:47Onto Stefan and Diane and the Foxtrot.
22:50Now, Motsi was impressed by Stefan's control
22:52from his standing leg and felt relaxed watching them.
22:56What impressed you the most about Team Ozzy?
22:58Definitely the standing leg,
23:00because Foxtrot, as we know, is slow, quick, quick.
23:03And on those slows, you've got two beats to do one step.
23:08So you need that standing leg to control how you go forward.
23:12If you take too much time on the standing leg,
23:14your weight's going to be backwards.
23:16If you go straight and don't use it enough
23:17onto the front foot,
23:18then you'll find yourself falling forwards and out of time.
23:21But he did that beautifully.
23:22And the other thing I loved was his frame.
23:25He had the perfect hot cross burn
23:27from the lower of his back to the top of his head
23:30and across to the elbows, and it looked easy.
23:33It didn't look, like, held and forced.
23:36And that is because he held up his frame
23:37from these two muscles underneath here,
23:40which are kind of used as brackets on a shelf.
23:43They're holding it up.
23:44Oh, yeah. Well, that's enough for now.
23:46Fancy coming back on tomorrow's show
23:47to do the other eight couples?
23:49Let's do it.
23:50Wonderful. It's Joanne Clifton, everyone!
23:53And congrats again.
23:55Over to you, Jeanette.
23:57Our final couple tonight worked up a sweat at the weekend
24:00with a routine that really pushed it.
24:02Come on, Harry, push it real good.
24:04Oh, yeah.
24:05Yeah, nice.
24:07You're pushing real good!
24:08I always ask for salt and pepper,
24:11a little bit of flavour,
24:11but you gave us salt, pepper, curry, oregano...
24:15I'd like to say a little bit more freedom
24:17in the hip department, I've got to be honest.
24:19The footwork was very haphazard.
24:22All in all, you did a grand job,
24:24and it was a new take on the charm, charm, charm.
24:27Well done, you guys.
24:28Give it up for Harry and Karen.
24:34Oh, my gosh.
24:35Harry, you looked like you were having so much fun
24:38on Saturday, but you got a little bit emotional
24:40when the routine ended.
24:41Yeah, you would have thought it.
24:42It was a bit of a weird one,
24:44because obviously my journey to this point,
24:47as an athlete, you get hurt, you get injured,
24:50and I'm quite a big one.
24:51So we always think about ourselves in some capacity,
24:54about getting back to who we are,
24:57and, you know, you guys are dancers,
24:58you know what it's like to perform
24:59and to be your true self.
25:00So in that moment, I recognized that I was finally
25:02where I wanted to be,
25:03and I could be myself,
25:04and it was just a bit emotional, you know?
25:07Oh, that's good to have you back.
25:09But Karen, you said you were really excited
25:11about the lifts when you found out
25:12you were going to be paired with Harry.
25:14But what else has surprised you about him so far?
25:16That he can balance on his back,
25:18and he can push me up,
25:19and then I was like, sure, why not?
25:20You know what?
25:22I just love his enthusiasm.
25:23You know, he's always very positive,
25:25and he's just such a good guy.
25:27You know, he just wants to do well.
25:29He's literally looking at me like,
25:30what's next, Karen?
25:31What's next?
25:31What should I do?
25:32Yes, yes, no, yes, no, yes.
25:34So it's really nice to see
25:36that he pays attention to everything.
25:38So, yeah, that's what's really surprised me.
25:40He wants to make you proud, right?
25:42Yeah, it's like one of those things
25:44when you always have such a great teacher,
25:46someone that, you know, knows the show in and out,
25:48and obviously so experienced as well,
25:50you just want to do them proud.
25:51Trust.
25:52The trust is there.
25:53I can see it already from week one.
25:54You haven't even done a lift,
25:55but I can feel it.
25:56It's going to be great.
25:57We'd have to talk about the moment
25:59that Shirley declared it went viral,
26:02which is this one first.
26:04There she is.
26:06And then this one next.
26:11But, I mean,
26:13Anton's shoes must have felt
26:14a little bit more comfortable
26:15than having heels digging into your back.
26:17What was that like?
26:18Let me tell you,
26:18my heel was cushioned
26:20by the back.
26:21He's got muscles in his back.
26:23They're like pillows.
26:25I was like,
26:25well,
26:26I actually felt better doing it in heels
26:28than I did doing it flat.
26:29Oh, really?
26:30Because you can balance.
26:31I was actually surfing.
26:34But how did you feel?
26:35Chris, forget about me.
26:36Do you know what it is?
26:37It is like work for me.
26:38Genuinely,
26:39people don't understand
26:39how hard it is
26:40to balance on my back
26:42whilst I'm moving.
26:42So the core strength
26:43that this woman has
26:45is unreal.
26:46Imagine like,
26:47I'm going up and down,
26:48you've got a balance on the heels.
26:49Once you're in,
26:50just commit.
26:51So heels or no heels.
26:52You're being nice.
26:54You're being nice
26:54is because you're made of
26:55solid steel, baby.
26:59Well, the judges pointed out,
27:00though,
27:00there were a couple of timing issues
27:02in the beginning of the dance.
27:03Motsi seemed to think
27:04that it was down to nerves.
27:05But how did you snap yourself
27:07back out of it so quick?
27:08Because literally,
27:08you can't look back
27:09and you were back.
27:10I was like,
27:11oh, he's there.
27:11Yeah.
27:12I'm not kidding.
27:13I felt something.
27:15Because usually,
27:17she's got eyes in back
27:18on the leg.
27:18But seriously,
27:19we do.
27:19But I felt something.
27:20But when I turned around,
27:21I was like,
27:22one, he's there on one.
27:23Great.
27:24And then,
27:25you know,
27:25I heard that,
27:26you know,
27:26honestly.
27:27But you were so good.
27:28Did you just immediately
27:29come back from it?
27:30I think,
27:31given my sprints of brain,
27:32you know,
27:32Olympics 100 meters,
27:34you can talk about
27:34a race in 10 seconds
27:35and it will take you
27:36five minutes to explain
27:37what's going on
27:37because you see things
27:38in slow-mo.
27:39I sort of had a mishap
27:40when I jumped off the box.
27:41I sort of landed awkwardly
27:42and I went,
27:43normally I'd been going forward
27:44with my right foot.
27:45I went forward
27:46with my left foot
27:46so I counted a short,
27:48I went two instead of one
27:50and then all of a sudden
27:51that happened.
27:52So maybe I was protecting
27:53something or something.
27:54I don't know.
27:55The point was,
27:55I saw things in slow-mo
27:57and I was like,
27:58as Karen was doing her bit,
27:59I was like,
28:00this isn't right.
28:01It was like I had
28:01an out-of-body experience
28:02and was looking at myself
28:03like,
28:03what are you doing, bro?
28:04So I just had to slow it down,
28:06jump back in
28:07and take control.
28:07I'm not going to lie,
28:08you don't just look
28:09like a superhero,
28:10you act like one.
28:11Everything is in slow motion.
28:11We always practice as well.
28:13I always tell him,
28:13if anything goes wrong,
28:14it doesn't matter
28:15but we never stop.
28:17If you go wrong,
28:18we continue.
28:19Yes.
28:19It's always the way
28:20that you recover from it.
28:21Exactly that
28:22and I'm so glad
28:22they pointed it out
28:23but we've got a question
28:24that's come in
28:24live from the viewers
28:25on the iPad.
28:27This is really exciting.
28:28This has come in
28:29from Evie in Rygate.
28:30What is the hardest thing
28:32about switching
28:32from the gym
28:33to the dance studio?
28:36I've got to say
28:37it's fatiguing.
28:38Really?
28:39So in terms of,
28:40I'm an explosive athlete,
28:42right?
28:42So, you know,
28:43I can jump high,
28:44run fast.
28:44I produce force
28:45in such a short period of time.
28:47Controlling that
28:47is difficult
28:48and also,
28:49if you ask me
28:49just to do a hold,
28:50if you ask me
28:51to stand here
28:51like this,
28:52you'll see me
28:53starting to shake.
28:54Well, I'm glad
28:55you brought it up
28:56because this week
28:58you're going to have
28:58to keep pushing it
28:59and keep holding that hold
29:00because we can reveal
29:01you're doing a quick step
29:02to this song.
29:05Everybody needs somebody.
29:07Blues Brothers,
29:09such an iconic song.
29:11Karen,
29:11it really is
29:12an iconic song
29:12full of energy
29:13just like Carrie's.
29:14So how much do you think
29:15this dance is actually
29:16going to suit him?
29:16It's actually going to
29:17suit him really well.
29:18I mean,
29:18right now he's like,
29:19but seriously,
29:21it's like,
29:21I go,
29:22it's the quick step
29:23but it's not that quick.
29:25It's not as the quick
29:26that you like.
29:27But now that we know
29:27he looks in slow motion,
29:29it might be okay.
29:31But you know what?
29:31I think it's going to
29:32suit him really well.
29:32Today was like
29:33one of those tough days,
29:34Mondays,
29:35that I just threw
29:37everything at him
29:37and I was like,
29:38let's see if it sticks.
29:39Well,
29:40we're going to throw
29:40something else at you.
29:41Because it's your first day
29:42and we really are
29:43throwing everything at you,
29:44we got your little gift.
29:45Here's some nice sunglasses
29:46to get you into character.
29:48Pop those on.
29:49Come on.
29:49Pop those on.
29:50Now the real test is
29:51can you do it in slow motion
29:52doing the quick stuff
29:53with glasses on?
29:54That is it.
29:57But Harry,
29:57what are you most
29:58looking forward to
29:58about this dance?
29:59I've got to say
30:00I've got to say
30:00for me it's respecting
30:09the dance floor.
30:10This is my first
30:11ballroom dance
30:11and that's what I'm here
30:12to do.
30:13I'm here to really enjoy
30:14and immerse myself
30:15in the experience.
30:16If you want to play the game
30:17you've got to follow the rules.
30:18Listen,
30:18with those glasses on
30:19you can play any game
30:20all night.
30:21Let's hear it
30:21for Karen
30:22and Harry everybody.
30:26They look good
30:27in those glasses.
30:28Flair,
30:28over to you.
30:29Well,
30:30that's it.
30:31One down,
30:3159 to go.
30:33I can't wait
30:33to do this
30:34all again tomorrow
30:35with Ellie and Vito,
30:36George and Alexis
30:37and Karen and Carlos.
30:39So don't forget
30:40to get in touch
30:40with any questions
30:41you may have for them
30:42via WhatsApp or email.
30:44See you again tomorrow
30:45at 6.30.
30:46We did it partner!
30:47Have a great night!
30:48We love the new house!
