05 October - National Morning Forecast presented by Tom Morgan
Transcript
00:00Good morning. It's been another very windy night across parts of northern Scotland and here a yellow wind warning remains in place until midday today.
00:09Otherwise though many of us are waking up to bright skies with some sunshine around first thing today and that sunshine will continue for some southern and eastern areas into this afternoon.
00:18But there will generally be a buildup of cloud, one or two light showers possible pretty much anywhere.
00:22It will be western Scotland though that's once again the wettest part of the UK through the day on Sunday.
00:27Outbreaks of rain persistent at times but the winds will be lighter than yesterday and even in the east those winds will ease down as we go into this afternoon.
00:35So it won't feel quite as chilly as it did on Saturday.
00:38Temperatures in the north ranging from highs of 13 to 15 degrees Celsius so still a little bit below average for the time of year but not quite as bad.
00:46And in the south perhaps as high as 16 or 17 Celsius in the best of any sunshine so certainly feeling a little bit warmer than yesterday.
00:54Some late sunshine in the south of the UK to end the weekend but generally a lot of cloud across more central and northern parts of the UK overnight tonight.
01:03Quite wet and windy for western parts of Scotland.
01:05Some fairly persistent rain across the highlands here and that rain will spread its way into the northern isles by the time we get to the morning as well.
01:12So with that wind pushing in from the southwest well a mild night to come.
01:16Generally the temperatures holding up into the double figures across the board but no lower than 11 or 12 degrees in some northern areas.
01:22In the countryside in the south where we might see temperatures dip down into high single figures and that might allow a few isolated patches of mist and fog to develop by the morning.
01:31But that won't hang around too long on Monday morning.
01:34And once that's cleared it's going to be a fine day for many southern parts of the UK.
01:38A mixture of howl but some lengthy spells of sunshine for England and Wales.
01:43A decent afternoon to come for Northern Ireland too and eastern parts of Scotland.
01:47Here temperatures rising up into the mid to high teens Celsius in some places.
01:51So above average for early October and perhaps as high as 20 degrees Celsius in the heart of England.
01:57A different story though for Western Scotland.
02:00Much wetter picture developing here.
02:02Some pretty heavy bursts of rain arriving by the afternoon and perhaps a little bit of rain as far south as Cumbria too.
02:09So a bit of a change will start to the week.
02:12Generally in the north we'll continue to see the risk of some rain at times through the day on Tuesday and indeed perhaps even to Wednesday as well.
02:18Quite windy at times especially across the west of Scotland.
02:22Further south a lot of dry weather.
02:23Some sunshine at times too but certainly an increasing chance of some mist and fog patches developing overnight.
02:29And that might be fairly slow to clear through the mornings given that it's now October.
