00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It was a pretty mixed picture over the weekend, with Storm Amy bringing some disruption across the UK.
00:09But on Monday this morning, a bit of a cloudier and damp start across the northwest of the country.
00:14Further south though, perhaps a few mist and fog patches first thing, but they should clear pretty quickly through this morning,
00:20leaving plenty of prolonged sunshine on offer for much of England and Wales through this afternoon.
00:24That cloud does continue though across western parts of Scotland, bringing outbreaks of quite persistent,
00:28mostly light rain and drizzle, but some heavier bursts are possible, particularly as we go through the afternoon.
00:33And the winds will be picking up here too.
00:35With those southerly, southwesterly winds, temperatures on Monday will be above what we saw over the weekend.
00:40Highs in the south of 20, 21, perhaps even 22 degrees.
00:44And even across eastern parts of Scotland, we could see temperatures reaching into the low 20s.
00:49Through Monday evening though, the area of rain that we see across northwest Scotland does continue to push its way north and eastwards.
00:55Once again, some outbreaks of heavy rain here are possible.
00:58We then see a more organised area of rain, a weather front arriving across the northwest.
01:02That's slowly sinking its way south and eastwards as we go into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
01:07And allowing some cloud to build across the southwest too, filtering in across much of England and Wales into the early hours of the morning.
01:13Some outbreaks of showery rain possible in the west.
01:15And with quite a bit more cloud around, that does mean a milder night to come compared to last night.
01:19Temperatures widely holding up in the double figures.
01:21There's maybe one or two rural spots across the very far southeast dropping a little lower than that under any clear skies.
01:27But otherwise, that does mean quite a mild start to the day on Tuesday.
01:30And once again, quite a damp start to the day across northwestern parts of the country.
01:34With further outbreaks of rain continuing to sink their way south and eastwards as we go towards Tuesday afternoon.
01:41A bit more cloud around across much of England and Wales on Tuesday compared to what we've seen on Monday.
01:46The best of any prolonged sunshine on Tuesday afternoon definitely across the northwest of the country.
01:51Some sunny spells, perhaps a few scattered showers here.
01:53And feeling a little bit fresher here.
01:55Temperatures much closer to average.
01:56And across the country, temperatures are closer to average as well.
01:59So not feeling quite as warm as it did on Monday.
02:03As that area of rain then sinks its way south and eastwards, we do start to see high pressure building in from the west through the second half of the week.
02:10So that will turn everything a little more settled, a little drier.
02:12But that does mean an increasing risk of fog overnight over the next couple of nights.
02:17Temperatures will stay around about average for the time of year.
02:19But with a bit more sunshine around and generally light winds, that means feeling pleasant in that sunshine.
