00:00Hello there, good evening.
00:01Well, we've seen quite a north-south split in the weather over the weekend,
00:04and actually that trend will continue as we go through the next few days too.
00:08So after today's unseasonably warm weather in parts of the south and the east of England,
00:12it is set to be a dry night here, with clear skies allowing some mist and fog patches
00:15to develop through the early hours of Monday morning,
00:18more especially to the south of the M4 corridor.
00:20But much like last night, we could see some locally very poor visibilities by Monday morning.
00:26Here, with the clearing skies, it will actually turn into a fairly cool night
00:29in the countryside at least, with lows of between 6 and 7 Celsius, perhaps in the coldest spots.
00:34Generally speaking, though, further north are much milder picture,
00:37temperatures perhaps not falling below 15 or 16 degrees Celsius in many areas,
00:41and that's what we'd expect to see in the daytime at this time of the year.
00:45But as well as that, there'll be some cloud, there'll be some bits and pieces of rain and drizzle,
00:48particularly over the higher ground, and some heavier rain pushing into the north of Scotland
00:52as we go towards the morning.
00:54Here, it will turn increasingly very windy as well,
00:56with gales or severe gales by the morning across Shetland and Orkney in particular,
01:00and it will be a very windy day on Monday here too.
01:03But the rain does clear away from the very far north,
01:06gradually making its way southwards across into the central belt of Scotland by the afternoon,
01:10and also parts of Northern Ireland, so turning a little bit damp here.
01:13Otherwise, to the south, well, the fog should clear by the end of the morning.
01:17And then many southern and eastern parts of England will have a dry day,
01:20with plenty of sunny spells once again,
01:22and it's set to be another unseasonably warm day once again as well,
01:25with temperatures perhaps as high as 21 to 23 degrees Celsius.
01:29With light winds, it will feel very pleasant indeed.
01:32Now, to put that into some perspective,
01:34we'd expect temperatures at this time of the year to be a lot lower.
01:37This graphic suggests that we should see temperatures around 7 degrees Celsius,
01:40above average in some eastern parts of England.
01:43And whilst it won't be quite as warm across the northwest of Scotland,
01:46for many, Monday's temperatures are going to be well above average for this point in October.
01:51So, through Monday evening,
01:53we continue to see some patchy rain pushing its way southeastwards across the UK.
01:56Quite a damp end to the day, for example, across parts of Northern Ireland.
02:00Generally speaking, the rain through Monday night will be quite showery, though,
02:03elsewhere across more central parts of the UK.
02:05But the cloud will, once again,
02:07largely keep it quite mild through the central swathe of the UK.
02:11To the south, well, potentially on Tuesday morning,
02:14we can see even more in the way of fog across southern counties of England.
02:17Perhaps quite dense and extensive.
02:19So, again, worth leaving yourself a little bit of extra time
02:22for your journey to work on Tuesday morning.
02:24Generally speaking, though, temperatures for many holding up in double figures.
02:28A little bit cooler in the far north of Scotland,
02:30with here some fresher air moving in from the Atlantic.
02:34So, generally a messy day to come on Tuesday.
02:37Make sure sunshine and balustry showers in the far north of Scotland.
02:41Otherwise, quite damp through central areas,
02:43with some cloud and outbreaks of rain at times,
02:45but nothing particularly extensive or heavy.
02:48So, there'll be some dry interludes as well.
02:50Further south, the fog might be a little bit slower to clear
02:53compared to on Monday morning.
02:54But by the afternoon, many southern regions of the UK
02:57will have a mixture of cloud and sunny spells.
03:00And once again, in the best of the sunshine,
03:02we'd like to see highs into the low 20s,
03:04considerably above average for the time of year.
03:07But a cooler day to come to the north of this weather front.
03:09So, particularly across Northern Ireland and Scotland here,
03:1213 or 14 degrees Celsius will be our highs,
03:14but at least there'll be a little bit of sunshine
03:16to compensate for those slightly lower temperatures.
03:19Now, it turns a little bit complicated
03:21through the middle part of the week.
03:22So, this weather front's gradually pushing its way south-east,
03:24but it's combining with this area of low pressure across France,
03:27it's going to drift northwards.
03:28So, we could see some more substantial amounts of rain
03:31for the areas that we really need the rain across England and Wales
03:33through Wednesday, for example.
03:35And it's also set to turn cooler.
03:37Northerly winds developing across the country
03:39through the course of Wednesday and Thursday.
03:41And that will bring quite a drop in temperatures, actually,
03:43to many areas, some several degrees lower
03:45compared to over the weekend, for example, in the south.
03:48And we couldn't even see our first flakes of snow
03:50across the very far north-east of Scotland over the mountains.
03:52So, something a bit more seasonal on the way
03:55if you're not a fan of the summer-like temperatures
03:57that we've seen of late.
03:58Of course, you can also always follow us on our social media channels
04:01so that you don't miss any updates.
04:02And I'll see you very soon.
