00:00It now sits at 10-and-a-half right now for Alabama.
00:04Revenge is on the Crimson Tide's mind,
00:06but this is a Vanderbilt team coach playing with house money on the road.
00:11Yeah, I really like the things that they do.
00:14First of all, it's not just Diego Pavia.
00:17It's not just Clark Lee.
00:19It's a system that they run on offense,
00:22a spread option attack that everybody needs to be involved,
00:26and that's what's going to have to happen this year
00:28for them to repeat last year's performance
00:30because, remember, they were 12-of-18 on third downs.
00:34They held the ball 42 minutes last year.
00:37That's 18 minutes Alabama had the ball,
00:41and they did it with a system that controls the clock
00:43and keeps you close
00:45and keeps those talented Alabama players off the field.
00:49They would have to have a repeat performance,
00:51but you know what?
00:52They're not flying under the radar now.
00:54Alabama has had a year to think about this team,
00:57and all the cards to me are in Alabama's favor.
01:00Now, I'm going to take those points on Vandy.
01:04I'm not voting against Vandy because it'll be a close game,
01:08and they will slow the game down.
01:10They will control the ball as much as possible,
01:12but Alabama will be ready for them.
01:15Yeah, they will be,
01:16and playing at home I think is a huge benefit.
01:19You talk about Alabama dating back to 2020 with Nick Saban,
01:23the year that they won a national championship straight up.
01:26The Alabama Crimson Tide are 40-1 against the opposition.
01:31They rarely lose.
01:33The only loss came a few years ago to Steve Sarkisian
01:36and Quinn yours in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
01:39I think when you look at this matchup,
01:41Vanderbilt comes in,
01:42high-powered offense,
01:43averaging 49 points per game,
01:45but they've also done it on the defensive side of the ball.
01:48They're holding opposing offenses to only 17 points per game,
01:52and more importantly, Coach,
01:5479 yards rushing allowed.
01:57Can Alabama and that rushing attack
01:59that was a little inconsistent against Georgia
02:02get going against this front seven Saturday afternoon?
02:06Yeah, but I don't think you could compare Alabama's offensive style
02:10to maybe the rushing yards at Georgia,
02:14even the rushing yards at Vanderbilt.
02:15They only got 130 yards rushing against Georgia
02:19and won that football game.
02:21So I could see Alabama rushing for 150
02:23and having an incredible game on offense
02:26because their receivers are so talented
02:28and they can score big plays.
02:31And I think the defense will give them the ball more often.
02:34They couldn't get the ball last year.
02:36For them to score 35 points in 18 minutes
02:38was pretty phenomenal last year,
02:40but their defense will do a much better job
02:43of recognizing who's got the ball on Vanderbilt's offense
02:48and get them into a few more punts
02:50because they were very successful,
02:51like I said, on third downs last year
02:54and Alabama sat on the bench
02:55and that's how you stop Alabama and win this game.
02:58You keep Ty Simpson and those wide receivers
03:01and running backs on the bench.
03:03Ty Simpson has performed lights out.
03:05He's thrown for 11 touchdowns,
03:07completed 69% of his passes,
03:09hasn't thrown an interception on the year.
03:12This Alabama offense is averaging 321 passing yards per game.
03:18They're converting 56% of their third down opportunities
03:22and playing at home.
03:23You got to expect that Ty Simpson looks to at least attack
03:26that Vanderbilt secondary over the top early
03:29and often this is an offensive line that has played very well.
03:33They've only allowed five sacks through four games.
03:36As long as Ty Simpson has a clean pocket,
03:39you got to give the edge to the Alabama passing attack
03:42going up against that secondary for Vanderbilt.
03:45Yeah, and I just get that feel that Kalen DeBoer
03:49brings a West Coast philosophy to the SEC.
03:52That doesn't mean better or for worse,
03:54but he's going to always love throwing that football.
03:57So running, yes, you got to run it,
03:59but I think of Oregon, I think of Washington,
04:01Washington State in the days that they were good,
04:03they are going to throw that football as much or more
04:06than they run over there.
04:10And I think he does bring a little bit of that to Alabama.
04:12And as long as he can run it when he needs to,
04:15and he can mix in the running game,
04:17for him to have a little more passing
04:18than what mostly we think of at a Georgia or a strong SEC team,
04:23it's kind of like what Josh Heupel brought in to Tennessee
04:27that got them rocking a couple of years ago.
04:29So anyway, I think they need to run the ball effectively
04:32within their system.
04:34Mostly they've got to get Vanderbilt off the dadgum field
04:37so they can score points.
