00:00All eyes were on Tuscaloosa.
00:02Alabama entered the matchup against Vanderbilt as a 12-and-a-half point favorite.
00:07Bettors bet it down to 9-and-a-half before kickoff.
00:10We saw more money come in on the Crimson Tide.
00:12This line closed at right around 12 points for the 330 kick.
00:17Alabama was 40-and-1 straight up at home in Bryant-Denny dating back to 2020.
00:24They started a little bit slow, Coach, but in the end, they get the win and cover by 16 points over Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt Saturday afternoon.
00:35Yeah, I just think, too, the cards were stacked in Alabama's favor.
00:38Remember, they had all offseason to think about that Bandy loss.
00:42As tough a loss as they had at Alabama in a long time.
00:46And then they had to overcome an early loss this year against Florida State.
00:51And they're playing their best football.
00:53I thought the way they came out and aggressively, I thought they got after Vanderbilt.
00:58And they wanted to show their athleticism and their dominance physically.
01:02What happened to Bandy, it's kind of like Florida State.
01:05When your quarterback is your star, and he is your offense, and he's the guy that has to make things happen.
01:10When you hold him to 58 yards rushing, and then he turns the ball over three times, and two of them lead to 14 points,
01:17just like T.C. Tommy Castellanos at Florida State, his two turnovers led two points.
01:22When he gives up 14 points himself with three turnovers, and can't effectively run the football,
01:28you don't have a chance to upset an Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
01:31And that's kind of the case there.
01:32I still think if he doesn't turn the ball over, and they play their best, they can beat Alabama.
01:38Two out of ten.
01:39One out of ten.
01:40And not every day.
01:42Alabama, the better team they got after it.
01:44And it all started with stopping that quarterback for Vanderbilt.
01:47Yeah, I think the biggest thing, too, is that you look at the success of Vanderbilt early.
01:52They hit a big run.
01:53That put them up seven to nothing.
01:55And then it was a back-and-forth affair, potentially in the first half.
02:00Alabama did build a third and early fourth quarter lead.
02:03Vanderbilt tried to respond critical third downs.
02:07They couldn't convert turnovers as well.
02:09Hurt Diego Pavia in the offense.
02:12But the one thing I think that when you just look at Alabama, they're calm.
02:16They're poised.
02:17Ty Simpson now in back-to-back weeks and big matchups is playing like the quarterback that they thought he would be at the start of the year.
02:25He's a Heisman Trophy frontrunner.
02:27He entered that game on Saturday afternoon, 11 touchdowns, no interceptions.
02:32He was completing 69% of his passes.
02:35And when the game was on the line, he had ice in his veins.
02:38And, you know, Kalen DeBoer in Alabama, fourth and two, they were only winning by nine points.
02:44They get the touchdown run to seal the deal.
02:47And, oh, by the way, get the cover laying 12 points at home.
02:51I think a lot of people were happy about that touchdown run.
02:54But they also showed a little bit of that killer instinct that maybe we're sort of asking, was it there with the Crimson Tide?
03:03Yeah, you know, when you become the head coach at Alabama, you've got to know what those people think about every day of their lives.
03:09And so if you can beat the spread and you can win by the number that you're supposed to win to, you're an awful popular head coach.
03:16But I think Ty Simpson, he is the guy that's kind of solidified things there.
03:21He's the consummate quarterback at Alabama.
03:23You don't need to run like TC at FSU or Pavia.
03:27You've got to distribute the ball to the right people, manage, be smart, be a leader.
03:32He does everything like that.
03:34You know, his father is the head coach at UT Martin.
03:37He was raised around football.
03:39And I think he's the guy that we didn't know a lot about coming in.
03:42And now that we see him playing more and more, now he's getting the ball to the Ryan Williams, the receivers.
03:48He's not turning the ball over.
03:51He's got great numbers throwing the football.
03:54And they're beginning to play great team football at Alabama.
03:57So credit to Alabama for playing the best overall football game.
04:02And Vanderbilt, when Pavia doesn't turn it over, he was good enough to lead them to victory.
04:08He's that good.
04:08He's good enough to lead them to victory.
