00:00Let's start to take a look at that SEC slate today, Joe,
00:02and maybe the top game of the day, Missouri taking on Vanderbilt.
00:05Two weeks in a row, we're talking about Vanderbilt
00:08as the center of the college football universe.
00:10No way, no how, but how about this again, Joe?
00:12Vanderbilt is favored to win a football game
00:14the same way they were last week against LSU
00:16in the exact same line, 2.5s to 3s,
00:19depending on where you're shopping at.
00:20A total, Joe, open up at 51.5 now, sits at 53.5.
00:23The expectations each and every week for Vanderbilt
00:26go higher and higher.
00:27I love to see it.
00:29It's a fun football team.
00:30We're not used to this, Joe.
00:31No.
00:31We're not.
00:31Not at all.
00:32Clark Lee has done a fantastic job in Nashville,
00:35led by their quarterback, Diego Pavia,
00:37that did take that game over in the second half,
00:39had a touchdown on the ground.
00:41His mobility, athleticism really put a lot of pressure
00:43on LSU's front seven, and that's going to be the matchup today.
00:47Now, you have a Missouri team that went toe-to-toe with Auburn.
00:50They pick up the victory in double overtime, 23-17.
00:54It is back-to-back road games.
00:56You're talking about a team in Vanderbilt, Donnie,
00:574-0 at home against FCS and FBS opponents.
01:01The average margin of victory for the Commodores has been 29.5 points per game.
01:06Missouri's a pretty good road team over the past couple of years,
01:089-4 straight up.
01:10This game's going to come down to the speed perspective.
01:13We haven't seen Missouri run the football in back-to-back games consistently
01:17against Auburn and Alabama.
01:19I think the tempo potentially could catch up to Vanderbilt today.
01:23I actually like Bo Pabrula.
01:25I expect a breakout performance by Amard Hardy again.
01:29I like the upset.
01:30Missouri outright over Vanderbilt today.
01:33It's hard to win football games in college football, big division play,
01:36or should I say big conference play like the SEC.
01:38I always like to get a kick out of this, like the anomaly that is college football,
01:41where in the pros it's usually home game, away game, home game, away game.
01:44That's not the case in college football.
01:46Look at Missouri's schedule, Joe.
01:47Home against Central Arkansas.
01:49Home against Kansas.
01:50Home against Louisiana.
01:51Home against South Carolina.
01:52Home against UMass.
01:53Home against Alabama.
01:55On the road against Auburn, you get that loss,
01:57and then you go on the road once again against Vanderbilt.
01:59Talk to me now about are we just more of a home game here?
02:02Was that an anomaly last week?
02:03They picked up the loss because it's hard to win.
02:05And also we saw Vanderbilt play big games at home and win those games.
02:08Yeah, I talked about it.
02:09Almost 30 points per game for Vanderbilt.
02:11They're in the top 10 for the first time.
02:13I mean, you can go back years now and decades.
02:16They were a favorite in the series against LSU.
02:19But again, I think when you look at the football matchup for this game,
02:23you look at Missouri's front seven.
02:25They're only giving up 83 rushing yards per game, 2.8 yards per carry.
02:30I actually believe Missouri, if you want to take a game that just stands out for me,
02:34it was the Alabama game where Missouri did go toe-to-toe from a defensive perspective,
02:40contained Ryan Williams, contained Jeremy Bernard in that matchup at home.
02:44They lost, had an opportunity to potentially win it in the fourth quarter,
02:49but I think that'll carry through into this game.
02:51Not a knock on Vanderbilt.
02:52They're holding opposing offenses to around 93 rushing yards per game,
02:56only 3.5 yards per carry.
02:58They held LSU last week to only 100 yards on the ground.
03:01They limited Nussmeier, very opportunistic on the back end as well,
03:06but it's going to come down to speed.
03:07I think Missouri has a little bit better speed, I believe, more in Drinkowitz
03:11than I do Diego, Pavia, and Vanderbilt.
03:14Even though they've stepped up, I think speed kills,
03:16and that's where Missouri has an advantage.
03:18Talk to me about Vanderbilt, Joe, because the one loss of the season
03:21was at Alabama, 30-14 final on that one.
03:24Then they rebound, they take on LSU and beat them at home.
03:26Coming up, upcoming games, I should say, this weekend, of course,
03:29we're talking about the game right now against Missouri.
03:31Then you go on the road to play Texas.
03:33Maybe Texas gets it together, really good defense,
03:35but still a tough place to play down in Austin.
03:37Then you have Auburn and Kentucky at home before you end the season at Tennessee.
03:41Is there an opportunity in your mind, Joe, that they can run the table,
03:44or do we just look at it and say, they're a good football team,
03:46but come on, man, you play in the SEC.
03:48You get no layups right out of the way.
03:50No, they get this victory today, and let's not forget,
03:52they went toe-to-toe with Alabama and Tuscaloosa.
03:54Alabama's only lost one home game dating back to 2020.
03:58That came by Quinn Ewers and Sarkeesian a couple of years ago,
04:01but at the end of the day, they were in striking distance
04:04as a nine-and-a-half-point underdog.
04:06I think this game does pose problems,
04:08but if they get this victory and win in convincing fashion,
04:12they're going to be potentially favored in a couple of matchups.
04:15Now, you have to keep an eye out for Tennessee at the end of the year.
04:18It's an in-state rivalry.
04:19Tennessee potentially has a speed advantage as well,
04:22but they're going on the road today against Kentucky.
04:25You mentioned Auburn, what happens with Auburn the rest of the way,
04:28tough ballgame on the road against Arkansas.
04:30Will they be checked out at that point?
04:32So, again, I think if Vanderbilt gets the victory today or Missouri,
04:36they're going to be that potential team as an at-large
04:40to crack the college football playoff.
04:42Even if they have two losses on the year, quality losses, I think, will matter,
04:47and both of them have come at this point to Alabama.
04:50So, you look at Missouri, three-point loss at home.
04:53You look at Vanderbilt, they lost it by double digits,
04:56but that was the last touchdown by Jim Miller.
04:58So, they're going to be in the conversation, whoever picks up the victory today.
