00:00Missouri, Vanderbilt, Tigers, Commodores.
00:03I don't think anybody thought these two teams would be stacked up there
00:06near the top of the SEC standings.
00:08Vanderbilt, a slight home favorite,
00:11and actually looked like they had somewhat of a home field advantage
00:13against LSU for the first time in probably the last 50 years.
00:19Yeah, Bobby, it is incredible to see what Clark Lee and Diego Pavia
00:23have done in Nashville.
00:24Last week was the first time in 78 games for Vandy
00:27against the top 10 team in the SEC.
00:30Booked as the favorite.
00:31How about now two consecutive weeks against a top 15 conference foe
00:35booked as a favorite?
00:37Missouri last week in double overtime in the battle of the Tigers
00:40against Auburn did just enough,
00:43and Auburn continues to play on the offensive side of the ball.
00:47The key in this game is establishing the run and running the dang ball
00:50because both of these teams do it better than most of the SEC,
00:53two of the top three rushing offenses in that league,
00:56and honestly better than most around the country.
00:58Both teams statistically pretty good at stopping the run as well.
01:03Mizzou only allowing 2.89 yards per carry.
01:05Vandy a little bit behind, but still top 30 in the country,
01:093.38 yards per pop.
01:11The key for Vanderbilt football, as it will always be as long as he is
01:14playing the quarterback position, is number two.
01:17That's Diego Pavia.
01:18In the games against Power Conference competition this year for Vanderbilt,
01:22Diego Pavia has thrown for fewer than 200 yards,
01:24but has also ran the football at least 11 times.
01:28In the last few weeks, we have seen that be prolific for Vanderbilt.
01:31Even in the loss against Alabama, the doors put up more than 7 yards per pop.
01:36Ahmaud Hardy, who looked like a Heisman frontrunner for Mizzou offensively,
01:39has slowed down.
01:40Bo Pribula has started turning the football over a little bit more at the quarterback spot.
01:45Eileen with Vandy again.
01:46I don't think what we are seeing is flash-in-the-pan type stuff.
01:49I believe it is the embodiment of what Kirk Lee has meant for this program
01:52and what Diego Pavia has done at the quarterback position.
01:56An absolute gamer.
01:57I think it's close.
01:58I think Vanderbilt wins a second consecutive close game in Nashville
02:00against a top 15 SEC foe.
02:02All right, let me give you a quick one.
02:03I'm letting you choose.
02:04USF Memphis.
02:06Six and one.
02:07Really good one.
02:08But also BYU at Iowa State favored picket.
02:11I'll give you two angles on both of these games.
02:14Of course, the USF Memphis game loses a little bit of luster
02:17after Memphis loses to UAB and interim head coach Alex Mortensen
02:21last week in that matchup in Birmingham.
02:24But still a really good team.
02:25The reason the line is four and a half in favor of the Bulls on the road
02:29is not just because they are ranked,
02:30not just because they are the frontrunners to win the American
02:32and probably represent the group of five in the college football playoff.
02:35It's also the injury status of veteran QB for Memphis in Brendan Lewis,
02:39who was injured in the game last week against the Blazers,
02:42and the offense really stalled out at times for those Tigers.
02:46If he is out there alongside Sutton Smith,
02:48one of the best ground attacks in the country.
02:50But what Byron Brown is doing right now for Alex Kolosh,
02:53his offense, at least 350 total yards and four total touchdowns
02:56in three consecutive games at the quarterback spot for the Bulls,
03:00he is lights out.
03:01Schlegs, the thing that stands out to me about the matchup in Ames
03:04in Jack Trice is an Iowa State team that started 5-0
03:06and now has lost two straight.
03:08But both of those games on the road, Cyclones defense allowing a ton of yardage
03:12to both Colorado and especially on the ground against Cincinnati.
03:16That is going to be the biggest thing for them in this game
03:19against the dynamic backfield of quarterback Bear Bachmeier
03:22and his running mate in L.J. Martin.
03:24Can they contain the run?
03:25This is yet another example of a second consecutive year
03:28the Cougs have started 7-0 under Kalani Sitake.
03:31It's the first time in program history
03:33BYU is 7-0 to begin a college football season
03:36in two consecutive years.
03:38Last year in Game 8, on the road against the UCF team
03:43that's not nearly as good as Iowa State,
03:45BYU was a three-point road underdog.
03:47They won that game outright.
03:49The oddsmakers are hesitant to back BYU.
03:51They're a two-and-a-half-point road underdog
03:53here in Ames inside Jack Trice on Saturday afternoon.
03:57I think Iowa State figures it out defensively
04:00to win this game and hand BYU its first loss of the year.
04:03But if the Cougs go down, that will be not a statement
04:07that, oh, they were a flash in the pan.
04:09They were overrated.
04:10This is exactly what we can expect of them.
04:12No, BYU will be in that Big 12 title race.
04:14The key for Iowa State is on the ground.
04:17I'm not entirely sure who wins it
04:19because the oddsmakers have been overlooking the Cougars
04:21in quite some time.
