A high-profile Silicon Valley couple break up and begin a heated custody battle. When one parent vanishes just before a scheduled visit, police uncover a case fueled by greed, betrayal, and suspects with everything to lose.

00:00Sometimes people that live in these beautiful neighborhoods think crime
00:11doesn't occur in their cities because they're just so wealthy. But crime does
00:17not have a zip code. Sergeant Sandra Brown Palo Alto Police Department. I spent my
00:24career investigating major crimes in Silicon Valley. Like the case of Keith
00:29Green and Tiffany Lee. Money and power played a huge role in what happened
00:35here. She was the heiress of wealth. Bankrolling this whole lifestyle. And
00:44there had been threats. The murder trial involving a real estate heiress and an
00:50alleged love triangle. When the SWAT team hit this 7,000 square foot 7 million
00:57dollar mansion in the middle of Hillsboro, it was shocking. Not only to Hillsboro, it
01:03was shocking to the world.
01:10The story starts in Northwest San Mateo. Keith Green was born in 1988 to a single mom. Keith just grew up normal working with a
01:39class with his mom. He was a popular kid, athlete, the one all the girls wanted.
01:49Everywhere we went, he definitely was turning heads. He was a charmer. He was the type of person that could just spark a conversation with just the person standing next to him.
02:00He was very kind, very nice guy. He always came off as very pleasant, very friendly, very generous. He was very sociable. Everybody liked Keith.
02:13As a kid growing up in Northwest San Mateo is sort of a middle class working community.
02:21But it's surrounded by other little cities that are well-to-do, very wealthy. And it's right adjacent to Hillsboro, which is the fifth most wealthiest town in the United States of America.
02:33I would say Silicon Valley has its fair share of one percenters. And those one percenters are so far beyond the spectrum of what you think is attainable in life. I mean, these people are driving the fanciest cars, living in these huge houses.
02:55Out of all the towns in Silicon Valley, Hillsboro has a higher concentration of the one percenters. The people who are living there, it's all tech money.
03:05Living in that area surrounded by all that wealth and all that status, you can see the difference in the way people live.
03:13Keith Green wanted that tech bro lifestyle. In 2009, Keith meets Tiffany Lee, who's from Hillsboro. They were introduced by a mutual friend. Tiffany and Keith's upbringing were completely different.
03:34Tiffany comes from a very wealthy family. They have a huge real estate empire in China.
03:43In the early 1990s, Tiffany Lee and her family came from Hong Kong to Silicon Valley to take advantage of the rising real estate cost.
03:53I started buying property throughout Silicon Valley.
04:01Tiffany was a beautiful young 30 something Chinese immigrant with a lot of real estate holdings in Silicon Valley and in Hillsboro.
04:14She was the heiress of wealth.
04:18Tiffany's family, they weren't just rich, like they're very wealthy, you know, more than wealthy in my opinion.
04:26I mean, her family had real estate all over the place in the Bay Area.
04:32She was living in a mansion and the mom would just wire her, you know, a lot of money during the month.
04:39And so she was kind of just living a lavish lifestyle, you know, being taken care of by nannies and chefs at her house.
04:46Her income was to apparently just collect rent checks and that would be nice.
04:55I know when her and Keith started dating, it was just a lifestyle of him really not having to work, I guess you can say, and just having nice things.
05:04Tiffany and Keith's relationship is a classic story of opposites attract.
05:11She's a multi-million dollar heiress.
05:17So she introduces him to a world he's wanted to get into and has never been able to get into.
05:23He's in Silicon Valley now, he's going to all these get togethers and meeting people.
05:29He's traveling to Dubai, he's going to the Maldives, he's going to Hong Kong.
05:34This young man from the other side of the tracks is living that tech bro life right now with Tiffany Lee.
05:44So they fall madly in love, and in 2012, Tiffany Lee and Keith Green have their first child.
05:54So Tiffany invites Keith into her mansion in Hillsboro, owned by her mother.
06:01Two years later in 2014, Tiffany and Keith have another daughter.
06:06They weren't married, but that was okay, they were in love with each other.
06:10They had a nice little family, and from the outside looking in, everything looks wonderful.
06:17They were living the life.
06:20They're new parents, but Tiffany and Keith love to have fun.
06:26Have a couple drinks, put your hands on me saying you can't stop.
06:30They would leave the girls home with the babysitters, and they would go out to clubs.
06:35So on one of these occasions when Keith and Tiffany were out, Keith introduces to Tiffany his friend, Kaveh Bayet.
06:44Keith and Kaveh kind of just met each other from being out with mutual friends.
06:50And I think he was more of a friend that when they would go out, whether it was to a nightclub or bars and stuff like that,
06:58he would hang out with him in those type of scenes.
07:01Here's Keith Green. He's very attractive. He's very popular.
07:06Keith Green's a good kid, but it turns out Tiffany Lee's got the bad boy streak.
07:11She's looking for that bad boy. And when Tiffany Lee meets Kaveh, Tiffany's attraction to bad boys takes hold.
07:25So in October of 2015, barely a month after Tiffany Lee and Kaveh Bayet meet,
07:31Keith and Tiffany were going through a tough patch in their relationship.
07:36Her and Keith sometimes would have, like, a hard time communicating with each other.
07:40He just said they had their differences. It was never anything specific that he told me.
07:45Keith then found out that Tiffany was cheating on him with Kaveh Bayet.
07:54Keith finds out about this affair with Kaveh Bayet because he sees Tiffany's car parked in front of Kaveh's house.
08:02Keith takes a picture of Tiffany's car parked in front of Kaveh's.
08:09In Keith's mind, Tiffany's over there cheating on him with Kaveh Bayet.
08:15Keith confronts Tiffany about this.
08:20They get into it over text and then she eventually says to him,
08:24I love Kaveh and I'm going to leave you and I'm going to take the kids and you're never going to see them again.
08:28She kicks Keith out of the mansion and she moves Kaveh Bayet into the mansion shortly after.
08:38So Keith's now got to figure out a way to take care of himself as well as his daughters.
08:42When they first broke up, Tiffany had custody of the kids and there were like supervised visits for Keith.
08:54The conversations just couldn't be civil anymore.
08:58And Tiffany started to record the conversations between the two of them.
09:02I'm saying to you, we both made mistakes and that's that, you know, let's just move on.
09:07There's nothing I can say right now.
09:09It's very easy for you to sit here and say whatever you want to say because your life has not changed at all.
09:15The only thing that's different is that you have a new man that you sleep next to at night.
09:19That's it.
09:20Very happy. Aren't you happy that I'm happy?
09:22So beginning in October of 2015, Keith and Tiffany start negotiating over the terms of some sort of separation agreement.
09:37He moved into a one bedroom apartment living with one of his mother's friends in Millbrae where they were going to have to all share a room when they were with daddy.
09:46And when they were with mommy, they were in the 10 bedroom Hillsboro mansion.
09:51And so naturally, like most of us would, Keith asked Tiffany for some money so that he could give the girls a similar standard of living when they were visiting him.
10:01And during the course of those negotiations is when Tiffany really took offense that she thought Keith was asking for too much.
10:12Now there's a contentious custody battle.
10:15So this goes on and on.
10:18He also starts dating a new woman, Cynthia Pinto, at the same time.
10:23We were out at a bar.
10:25He and I kind of made eye contact with each other.
10:28As the night went on, we kind of just made our way towards each other and he struck a conversation up with me.
10:34During the time when he and I first started dating, I was the middle person for a lot of their conversations.
10:40She made it very known.
10:42He and I just can't communicate.
10:43And so that's kind of where I stepped in a lot of the time.
10:47For a long time, Tiffany wanted Keith to just sign off rights for the girls.
10:53She just didn't want anything to do with Keith.
10:56But the girls meant everything to him and he was not willing to just sign off his rights.
11:04So eventually, Keith Green signs a settlement agreement and he's going to have a unsupervised visit at the end of April very soon.
11:18They text about her bringing a car seat over to him so that he's able to take the children for that unsupervised visit.
11:26And they plan to meet at the Millberry Pancake House so that he can get that car seat and they can just sort of bury the hatchet about what has happened the last couple of months.
11:36I just woke up that morning just feeling off.
11:39Every morning I would wake up to a good morning text from him and that morning I had nothing.
11:45I didn't want to believe it, but I just had that feeling like something just wasn't right.
11:49Keith was living with one of his mother's friends in Millberry.
12:02Keith had told his mother's friend Angela Dunn that he was going to meet Tiffany at the Millberry House of Pancakes.
12:08He was going to go across the street to pick up a car seat from Tiffany who he was meeting because he was going to have the girls over the weekend.
12:19And he never returned.
12:21His mother's friend saw that Keith went to the meeting at the Pancake House without his wallet and without his car keys.
12:29The Millberry House of Pancakes was just across the street.
12:32And so when he didn't come home the next morning, Angela Dunn was very concerned about what had happened to Keith.
12:43So at nine in the morning on April 29th, Angela Dunn calls the sheriff's office to report Keith missing.
12:51The other thing she reports is that she called Keith's cell phone and it was answered by a woman in San Francisco who said she found the cell phone on the ground at the Rose Garden in Golden Gate Park.
13:01The fact that his phone was just down on the side of the street, like, that was not like him. We knew something bad had happened.
13:19At the beginning everyone kind of just made flyers. We were putting them, hanging them everywhere, just trying to get awareness out of there.
13:24I know we were making posts on Instagram, having, you know, having people tag it.
13:31I remember hearing about it on the radio, saying, you know, your family and friends miss you. Like, if you hear this, like, you know, just come home.
13:37It was everywhere on the news and Facebook, everywhere everybody knew.
13:45And friends had organized search parties.
13:48We didn't know where he was, but somehow his phone was in San Francisco, so I know there was a search party in the park.
13:54So people were looking over in Millbrae where he lived, in South San Francisco, in the park, everywhere.
14:04I remember going to the Pancake House and trying to canvas the area and, like, okay, like, there's a camera here, there's a camera there. Like, someone had had to pick something up.
14:18Police have Keith's cell phone. Now the cell phone data is very important. But at this point, all we know is that Keith Green's been missing since the previous night.
14:35So the police, knowing that Tiffany Lee was the last person to talk to Keith Green at the Pancake House, they want to know what he said, what was the conversation about, and what happened.
14:44Investigators go to Tiffany's house on the evening of April 29th, and Tiffany admitted that they met up at the Pancake House to discuss custody issues, and also for Keith to get some car seats from Tiffany.
15:02But Tiffany tells investigators that after that meeting, Keith got out of the car and went home, and Tiffany went home.
15:14Five days after Keith Green has been missing, unbeknownst to Tiffany, the police recovered Keith's cell phone data, and something's not adding up.
15:37Detectives bring Tiffany Lee into their office to interview her.
15:41And once again, Tiffany tells the detectives that she met Keith Green at the Pancake House after 10 p.m.
15:56She gave him the car seat, and they had a heart-to-heart conversation about their custody of their children.
16:02She tells the detective that their conversation ended on a hopeful note. He got out of the car and she drove away. She left him in the parking lot.
16:09She tells police she hasn't seen or heard from Keith since that night. The police dropped a bombshell.
16:16They had data showing that his phone had connected to the Wi-Fi at Tiffany's house at about 10.45 p.m. the night he disappeared.
16:29So about a half hour after Tiffany said she left him at the Millbrae Pancake House.
16:35Someone's cell phone does not connect to someone's Wi-Fi unless that person is there.
16:56How is his phone connecting to your house if you're claiming he wasn't there with you?
17:03Five days after Keith Green has been missing, detectives bring Tiffany Lee into their office to interview her.
17:10She was the last person to see Keith Green.
17:17Tiffany tells police she hasn't seen or heard from Keith since that night.
17:20Unbeknownst to Tiffany, the police recovered Keith's cell phone data and his cell phone is shown going to her home and it's attaching to the Wi-Fi.
17:33But if they thought that they were going to crack Tiffany Lee with this story with the cell phone, they were mistaken. She was very calm.
17:40She adamantly denied that Keith came to her house that night.
18:10She tells the detectives, I don't have a motive to hurt Keith.
18:14We have a custody agreement finally.
18:17I'm with Cave. He's with Cynthia.
18:20We've decided to move on.
18:22However, Tiffany does offer up to the police
18:24that she has some idea of who may have hurt Keith,
18:27and she has several names that she wants to give to them.
18:31She told one of the investigating officers
18:34that he was in a biker gang,
18:36and perhaps the biker gang had kidnapped him.
18:38At some point, she intimated that maybe it was a jealous husband
18:42that had kidnapped him.
18:48The theories I had heard were just laughable.
18:52I had never heard of anything like that,
18:53and if no one had heard of that,
18:55if you knew Keith, you'd be like, no.
18:57I think there were just distractions to paint a different narrative.
19:03For a person who claims to be innocent,
19:05she sure is trying to lead the police in another direction.
19:09She's throwing up all this other information.
19:11That alone makes me very suspicious of her.
19:16If you are really distraught at a loss,
19:19all you're thinking about is how I'm going to tell my family
19:21how I'm going to go forward.
19:22You're not thinking other things that Tiffany Lee was thinking of.
19:25I think everyone at that point already
19:30had come to the acceptance that we knew Keith was gone.
19:33It was more so, let's find a body
19:36so that we can get him justice.
19:37Two weeks after Keith Green's disappearance,
19:50the body of a male was found 75 miles north of San Mateo.
19:58The victim is a male.
20:00He's nude.
20:01He's wearing a pair of black socks.
20:03The body was located in Hillsburg in a field
20:06off the side of the road.
20:11I didn't want to believe it, but I just had that feeling.
20:19And so when the articles came out saying that
20:22they had found a body that was more than half decomposed,
20:25the article didn't say who it was.
20:27They said they had to wait for dental records to be released.
20:29But amongst the friends of us, we were sending the article
20:33and we're like, that's him.
20:37The autopsy reveals that the body that was discovered
20:40is indeed Keith Green.
20:47According to the medical examiner,
20:50Keith was shot one time through the mouth.
20:52It was an intraoral gunshot wound.
20:56That was the cause of death.
20:58Keith also had a chipped tooth
21:00that was chipped from the inside out.
21:01So the theory was that
21:03there was a 9mm semi-autic pistol
21:06that was placed into Keith's mouth.
21:07The trigger was pulled once
21:09and the kickback from that gunshot
21:11chipped Keith's tooth.
21:12During the investigation,
21:21when crime scene went through,
21:22they searched that entire area.
21:24They did not find a shell casing.
21:25They did not find a bullet.
21:27They did not find a lot of blood.
21:29So it looks like Keith was not shot and killed there.
21:33So now they're trying to figure out
21:34where did this crime occur?
21:35And they're thinking it occurred back in Silicon Valley.
21:38You have an ex-girlfriend
21:46who is the last person to see him,
21:48but we don't have a crime scene.
21:50We don't know where this crime occurred.
21:52Someone being shot through the mouth,
21:54out of the back of the neck,
21:54there's going to be a lot of blood.
21:56Where did this crime take place?
22:02So the police went back to this parking lot
22:05where Keith and Tiffany met
22:06and collected all the surveillance videos.
22:09They wanted to collect all that information
22:11and go through everything.
22:13After scouring through all the surveillance tapes,
22:16police saw, obviously,
22:18Tiffany Lee's G-Wagon leaving the parking lot.
22:21But surprise, surprise,
22:22they also observed a gray Chrysler 300
22:26driving behind her G-Wagon,
22:28leaving the parking lot.
22:30Investigators also contacted the Golden Gate Bridge
22:33and they asked for video footage
22:35of any vehicles that crossed over the Golden Gate Bridge
22:38in this particular five-hour window.
22:40And they got still shots of the Chrysler 300
22:44crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge
22:46at precisely the same time
22:47that Keith's body was being dumped.
22:51After researching and tracking
22:53that suspicious vehicle,
22:55they find out
22:56that it comes back
22:58to a man named Olivier Adela.
23:04He was an immigrant from West Africa
23:06who came here,
23:07became a personal trainer,
23:09and was living in the Bay Area
23:10and had a beautiful wife and a child
23:13and was living the American dream.
23:16Around November of 2015,
23:18he met Kave Byatt,
23:20who's Tiffany Lee's new boyfriend,
23:22and Kave promised Adela riches.
23:27He offered him a six-figure income
23:29to work as his bodyguard.
23:32So investigators are now looking
23:34at Olivier Adela as the possible murderer,
23:36but here's two questions.
23:38What was the motive
23:39and did he act alone?
23:40You know,
23:44when you're living in Silicon Valley
23:46and there was so much wealth
23:47in this area,
23:48I think some people
23:50can be tempted
23:50to take opportunities
23:52that are too good to be true,
23:54and Kave seemed to have groomed Adela.
23:59Before Keith went missing,
24:02there had been threats
24:03between Kave and Keith at that time.
24:06So when Kave was talking to Keith,
24:09Keith wanted me to record
24:11the conversations.
24:12One of the recordings,
24:14Kave had said, you know,
24:15he had $100,000
24:16for whoever put the bullet
24:18to Keith's head.
24:26Before Keith went missing,
24:28there had been threats
24:29that were made.
24:31Keith just, I think,
24:32thought that.
24:34You know,
24:34Kave was just speaking out of anger
24:36that nothing was ever
24:37going to be done.
24:40But when his body was found,
24:42I just couldn't wrap my mind
24:43of thinking any other
24:44logical explanation
24:46that could have happened to him.
24:49As soon as Keith moved out,
24:51Kave seemed to move in,
24:53and that lavish lifestyle
24:55was now something
24:56that Kev was experiencing,
24:57and I think that
24:58he may have been threatened
24:59that at the end of the day,
25:01at any time,
25:02her and Keith could rekindle.
25:03I mean, they had two daughters.
25:04You know, there is always that chance,
25:06and I think Kave
25:07really was frightened by that,
25:09and maybe a little
25:10intimidated about that.
25:12And he did not want
25:14that to happen.
25:16If they rekindle,
25:17that means that lavish lifestyle
25:18he's now living
25:19goes away.
25:21I think that's why
25:21he pushed really hard
25:23to try and keep Keith away
25:24from Tiffany
25:25as much as possible.
25:27But I never met Olivier.
25:30I never even knew
25:31he existed.
25:32So I don't know
25:33why he would want
25:34to murder Keith.
25:42After police
25:43impound Adela's car,
25:45they search for evidence,
25:46but they still have
25:47a lot of questions.
25:50There's no evidence
25:51that Keith Green
25:53was shot in the trunk
25:54of that car.
25:56But they do find
25:57a small amount of blood
25:58in the back of the trunk.
25:59And they also find
26:02a small amount of blood
26:04on the handle
26:05on the rear door.
26:07Although the blood
26:08from the trunk
26:09and from the handle
26:10on the inside
26:11of the back seat
26:11is too degraded
26:12and they can't get
26:13any DNA off of it,
26:15it does bring up
26:16a clear story
26:16that Olivier
26:17was involved
26:18in this murder.
26:22Not only did
26:23they find
26:24all this evidence
26:25that the Chrysler 300
26:27belonging to Adela
26:28was involved,
26:29there was also
26:30a receipt
26:31for a burner phone
26:32inside of Adela's car.
26:34So when the police
26:35did a search warrant
26:36on the phone records
26:37for that burner phone,
26:39they figured out
26:40that Cave Bayat
26:41and Olivier Adela
26:42were communicating
26:43with each other
26:43using burner phones.
26:45They also found
26:50that Olivier's
26:51personal cell phone
26:53on the night
26:54that Keith disappeared
26:55moved through
26:57the Rose Garden
26:58right where
26:59Keith Green's phone
27:01was found
27:01the next morning,
27:02crossed the Golden Gate Bridge
27:03and then came back
27:05to 1800 Truesdale,
27:06the building
27:07that Adela
27:08had been renting
27:09an apartment.
27:09When I found out
27:13that Cave Bayat
27:15and Olivier Adela
27:16were using burner phones,
27:17to be honest with you,
27:18guilty.
27:20That's the first thing
27:21that came to my mind.
27:21These guys are involved
27:22in some type of crime
27:23and they're using
27:24burner phones
27:25and not their own
27:26personal phones
27:26which can be tracked
27:27back to them.
27:29I'm thinking
27:29they're involved
27:30in the disappearance
27:31of Keith Green.
27:34If you're Olivier Adela,
27:36why would you be
27:38buying burner phones?
27:40And guess what?
27:41Who owns a building
27:42that Olivier Adela
27:43lives in?
27:45Tiffany Lee.
27:50There's a mountain
27:51of evidence
27:52showing that Adela
27:53is involved
27:53in the scheme
27:54to get rid of Keith.
27:57But then there's also
27:58a mountain
27:59of circumstantial evidence
28:00which connects
28:01Tiffany and Cave
28:03to Adela.
28:06On May 20th,
28:08Olivier Adela
28:09is arrested
28:09by the police.
28:13They search
28:14Adela's apartment
28:15and they find
28:15a lunchbox
28:16that contains
28:17a diamond watch
28:18that belonged
28:18to Keith Green
28:19and thousands
28:20and thousands
28:21of dollars
28:21in cash.
28:25But there's
28:26not enough evidence
28:27to tie Olivier
28:27to the murder itself.
28:29We still don't know
28:29where that happened.
28:33Still,
28:34police are certain
28:35that Olivier Adela
28:37did not act alone.
28:39The following day,
28:41on the morning
28:41of May 21st,
28:422016,
28:45SWAT team
28:49enters Tiffany Lee's
28:50mansion
28:51in Hillsboro.
28:52They search Tiffany Lee's
29:07G-Wagon
29:08in the garage
29:08and they find nothing.
29:11They don't have
29:11a murder scene.
29:12They don't have
29:13a murder weapon.
29:15However,
29:15when police
29:16search the mansion,
29:17they find
29:18what they believe
29:19is Cave's man cave.
29:20and what they locate
29:21inside his man cave
29:22appeared to be
29:23Keith Green's shoes
29:25on the mantle.
29:27Possibly the last shoes
29:28he was wearing.
29:33When Angela Dunn
29:34called the sheriff's office
29:35on the 29th
29:36to report Keith missing,
29:38she said that he was
29:38wearing a distinctive pair
29:40of Nike basketball shoes
29:42size 10 and a half.
29:45There were about
29:4630 pairs of shoes
29:47in the man cave.
29:48There was one pair
29:49of shoes
29:49that was size 10 and a half
29:51and it was a distinctive
29:52pair of pink Nike
29:53basketball shoes.
29:55So,
29:56some people
29:56could interpret that
29:57as
29:58they had taken
29:59Keith's shoes
30:00as some sort of trophy.
30:04After police
30:05searched the mansion,
30:06they've taken Tiffany Lee
30:07and Kaveh Bayet
30:08into custody.
30:17When I heard that
30:18Tiffany and Kevha
30:19got arrested
30:20at her mansion,
30:21I had a sense of relief.
30:23I felt that
30:24my gut this whole time
30:26had told me
30:27that something
30:28was off there
30:29and so by them
30:30being arrested,
30:31I felt that
30:32the police had
30:33some type of evidence
30:35to obviously arrest them
30:36and so I was hopeful
30:37that, you know,
30:38justice was going
30:39to be served.
30:43Three weeks after
30:44Keith Green's body
30:46is located,
30:47what do the police have?
30:50They have Kaveh Bayet,
30:53they have Olivier Adela,
30:54and they have Tiffany Lee
30:56all in jail.
30:57They have parts
30:59and pieces
31:00of evidence,
31:01but none of it
31:02is hooked up.
31:02You have part A,
31:03part B,
31:04part C,
31:04part D,
31:05E, F, G, H, I, J,
31:06but you don't have
31:07a string leading
31:07all those parts together.
31:10And all three of them
31:10are maintaining
31:11their innocence.
31:14At some point
31:15in all of this,
31:17Olivier Adela
31:18makes an appointment
31:19with a reporter,
31:20and he tells this reporter
31:21the most shocking story.
31:25So they pull up
31:25to the car
31:26the cabbie
31:27was on the backseat,
31:28Tiffany was on the front seat,
31:29and Keith Green
31:30was on the front seat,
31:32but...
31:33Three weeks after
31:41Keith Green's body
31:43is located,
31:43Olivier Adela
31:45makes an appointment
31:46with a reporter,
31:47and he tells this reporter
31:49the most shocking story.
31:50So they pull up
31:51to the car,
31:52the cabbie
31:53was on the backseat,
31:54Tiffany was on the front seat,
31:55and Keith Green
31:56was on the front seat,
31:57but Keith Green
31:57was dead.
31:58The story that Olivier
32:00laid out was that
32:01Olivier was living
32:03at 1800 Truesdale,
32:04which is an apartment
32:05building owned
32:06by the Lee family.
32:08And on the night
32:09of April 28th,
32:10he was at 1800 Truesdale.
32:13Tiffany comes back
32:15to 1800 Truesdale
32:16driving her Mercedes G-Wagon,
32:19Cove Bayat is in the car,
32:20and according to Olivier,
32:22Keith's dead body
32:23is also in the car.
32:27Cove tells Olivier,
32:29we need you to dump this body,
32:31and he shows
32:32this black pistol
32:33in his pocket.
32:35Olivier's a little nervous.
32:36He's damned if he does,
32:37and he's damned if he doesn't.
32:39What he understands is,
32:40I gotta take this body
32:41and get rid of it,
32:42or else I'm gonna be killed.
32:43He took the dead body
32:48from the G-Wagon,
32:50put it into his own car,
32:51which was a Chrysler 300,
32:53and then drove the body
32:54up to Healdsburg
32:55and dumped it in the field.
33:01Under California law,
33:02that is not a murder
33:03because the body
33:04was already dead
33:05when he dumped it.
33:07So the district attorney's office
33:08got into a pretrial plea deal
33:11with Adela
33:12where he pled
33:13to an accessory after the fact
33:14in exchange for honest testimony
33:16at the criminal trial
33:18against Tiffany and Cove.
33:23The prosecutors call it
33:24a custody battle
33:25that ended in murder.
33:27This was one of the biggest cases
33:28in the South Bay.
33:30The murder trial
33:31involving a real estate heiress
33:32and an alleged love triangle.
33:35It had murder.
33:36It had a lot of the salacious elements
33:38that make the press,
33:39and then on top of that,
33:40it had a ton of money
33:41involved into it.
33:43I think the media
33:46really latched onto the case
33:47just because of the amount
33:49of wealth involved
33:50with the person
33:52who was accused.
33:53then on top of that,
33:57you know, Tiffany was in custody
33:59and the judge set bail
34:01at $35 million
34:02and she posted it
34:05using real estate
34:06and under California law,
34:08when you post bail
34:09using real property,
34:10you have to put up
34:11twice the value of the bail.
34:13So her family put up
34:15$70 million worth
34:16of real estate
34:17in order for her
34:18to get out of custody
34:19pending the jury trial.
34:21Tiffany Lee just posted
34:23one of the highest bail amounts
34:25in history.
34:26I can't remember
34:27ever hearing about
34:28an eight-figure bail
34:30that somebody made,
34:32let alone for $70 million.
34:34The suspect is expected
34:36to walk out of jail
34:37any minute now.
34:40Tiffany went home.
34:41She was out of custody
34:46pending the jury trial
34:48and there were no clear answers
34:50about how Keith died.
34:53Many of these details
34:54of the death of Keith Green
34:56remain frustratingly
34:57a mystery.
35:01This is the case
35:02that we have.
35:04We have three people
35:05involved in this case.
35:06We have a dead body.
35:10He has a chipped tooth
35:12and he has a blowout
35:13at the back of his neck.
35:15We never found a bullet.
35:16We never found the location
35:18where it occurred.
35:18We never found a shell casing.
35:21The investigators continue
35:22their investigation
35:23and they uncover text
35:25between Kaveh and Tiffany Lee.
35:28There's a text conversation
35:30where Kaveh is telling Tiffany,
35:31Keith just is trying
35:32to get more money,
35:33doesn't care about the girls.
35:34What a snake.
35:34And then Tiffany says,
35:37okay, green light.
35:42Investigators look
35:42at that text
35:43and they think
35:44that is the terminology
35:45to say, go ahead, kill him.
35:50So the prosecutor decides
35:52to go with that story
35:53that Olivier gave.
35:56In this case,
35:58the evidence
35:59was circumstantial evidence.
36:02But many people
36:04have been convicted
36:05on circumstantial evidence.
36:09Circumstantial evidence
36:10can be very powerful.
36:15Even though
36:16there wasn't direct evidence
36:19that Tiffany was involved,
36:21when we went to trial,
36:22I definitely was convinced
36:23that she would be found guilty.
36:25The prosecution had to prove
36:28that Tiffany Lee
36:29and her co-conspirators
36:30intended to kill Keith
36:32beyond a reasonable doubt,
36:33which is a very high
36:34burden of proof.
36:37When the jury came out
36:38with the verdict,
36:40it was a shock to everyone.
36:45Jurors today
36:45found Tiffany Lee
36:46not guilty
36:47of plotting
36:48to kill her ex-boyfriend,
36:49who was also
36:50the father
36:51of their children.
36:52Calls for justice
36:57for the victim
36:58may go unanswered.
37:01You know,
37:02there was rumors
37:03that she paid off
37:04the jurors
37:04and that she paid off
37:05the judge,
37:06and I don't know.
37:09It just doesn't make sense
37:10how she's not guilty.
37:13It's very difficult
37:14to convict somebody
37:15of murder
37:17or conspiracy
37:18to commit murder.
37:19The forensic evidence
37:20just did not back up
37:22Adela's story
37:23that Keith
37:24had already been dead
37:25at the time
37:26that he first saw him
37:28at 1800 Trewsdale.
37:31Tiffany was acquitted
37:32and there was
37:33a hung jury for Covey
37:35and they decided
37:35not to retry him.
37:37There was one other defendant
37:39in this case,
37:40Oliver Adela.
37:41He admitted
37:41to disposing of the body,
37:43but the district attorney
37:44does not plan
37:45any new charges
37:46for him.
37:47The only person
37:48who spent time
37:49in jail
37:50was Adela
37:51and his time
37:52was very short.
37:54Everyone just felt
37:56that there was just
37:56no justice served here.
37:58There was no justice
37:59for his murder.
38:00She orchestrated
38:05all of this.
38:07I knew her for six years.
38:08She was evil.
38:11This case is very similar
38:12to O.J.
38:13and Nicole Brown
38:14Simpson's case.
38:16And Keith Green's mother
38:18has another avenue
38:19to hold someone
38:20accountable
38:21for Keith Green's death.
38:23So Colleen Cutt
38:24is Keith Green's mother.
38:26She approached
38:26our law firm
38:27about filing
38:28a wrongful death lawsuit.
38:30against Tiffany Lee
38:31on behalf
38:32of the two children.
38:33In our civil case,
38:35we didn't need
38:35to prove
38:36how or why
38:37Keith died.
38:38We just wanted
38:39to prove
38:40that Tiffany Lee
38:41is the one
38:41that set it in motion
38:42to have him killed.
38:44Eventually,
38:45we were offered
38:46a settlement
38:46from Tiffany Lee
38:48that we felt
38:50like was in the best
38:50interest of the children
38:51and we took it.
38:55For Keith Green
38:57and Tiffany Lee's children,
38:58and once they turn 18,
39:00they will be informed
39:01that they have
39:01full access
39:02to $5 million
39:03plus interest each.
39:05That will give them
39:06the freedom
39:08to not only do
39:09what they want
39:09in their lives
39:10and pursue the careers
39:11that they want to do,
39:13but it will also give them
39:14the ability
39:14to figure out
39:14what happened
39:15to their father
39:16and that will be justice.
39:17He always talked
39:21about his kids
39:21and always, you know,
39:24trying to make people smile.
39:26He loved to have gatherings.
39:28He was an amazing cook.
39:29Like, he could just whip up
39:30anything from nothing.
39:32That is definitely
39:33something that I miss.
39:35He was a great guy
39:36and everybody loved him.
39:37The community came together
39:38for him.
39:39This is something
39:40that will stay with me forever.
39:42You know, I remember one night
39:43I just sat in my room
39:44and cried because it was just,
39:46it's so sad.
39:48I mean, it was definitely
39:50one of the hardest things
39:51I've ever experienced
39:52in life.
39:54You know, he was special
39:55and he always brought
40:00a smile to my life.
40:03He made me feel beautiful.
40:06Just who he was
40:07as a person.
40:08We could just be doing nothing,
40:10but it was always
40:11good memories, you know.
40:12Good memories are left.
40:14money and power
40:19played a huge role
40:20in what happened here.
40:23From the beginning,
40:24Tiffany was able
40:25to control Keith
40:25and then she was able
40:27to move people
40:28in and out of her life
40:28based on the money
40:29that she had.
40:30Without that,
40:31she would just be
40:31in another volatile
40:32relationship in her 20s.
40:35When you have
40:35an exorbitant amount
40:36of money and power,
40:38the consequences
40:39of your behavior
40:40are so much more severe.
40:41and that is clear
40:44in this case.
40:46As horrendous as
40:47this case is
40:48and was,
40:49thinking about
40:50Keith Green's daughters,
40:52I hope they find out
40:53the truth because
40:54money, wealth,
40:55and power
40:55in Silicon Valley,
40:56sometimes people
40:57can get away
40:57with murder.
41:10I heard on the news
41:12this house was on fire.
41:14I just knew it was David.
41:16It's something I had never
41:17seen before in my life.
41:19He was building a prosperous
41:20career in the tech industry.
41:21If you have two stories
41:22coming from two people
41:23that are involved
41:24in this case,
41:25you have to wonder
41:25who's telling the truth here.
