00:00I'm Tom Morris, Jr., and this is Fugitives Caught on Tape.
00:27Let's get into it.
00:28This guy has no regard for anybody else in the road.
00:34Stop the car!
00:36Stop the car!
00:38Get out of the car, knock.
00:40Get out of the car, get out of the car, get out of the car.
00:42Get out of the car, get out of the car.
00:47First up, we're in Tarzan.
00:58We're in Tarzan, California, where state troopers are in pursuit of a suspect in a reportedly
01:02stolen RV who's driving recklessly on local roads.
01:07Earlier, an L.A. County Sheriff's deputy spotted a seemingly unoccupied RV parked near the end
01:15of a dead-end street.
01:16He ran the plate, and when it came back as stolen, he called for backup.
01:20But just as help arrived, the RV suddenly started moving, and the driver refused to stop for
01:27the officers and fled the scene.
01:29He ran the road.
01:30Soon, multiple California Highway Patrol troopers joined the pursuit, as the suspect began driving
01:37dangerously.
01:38The driver manages to pull away, and then cuts across traffic into a residential area.
01:49He's going the wrong way, Nashville Street.
01:52Copy, wrong way in the residential area.
01:55As a local news station's helicopter picks up the chase, the RV blows through a stop sign and
02:03several red lights, leading to some very close calls.
02:09The RV then briefly enters a parking lot, but as the suspect exits the lot, as the RV makes
02:35this wide left turn, it slams into a tree, which tears apart the side of the vehicle and rips
02:42off the front bumper.
02:43He's heading into a tree.
02:44He's still going.
02:45He's heading into a street.
02:46He's still going.
02:47He's heading into a street.
02:48I'm moving.
02:49I'm still the parking lot.
02:50And now we're going to head out of Tampa.
02:51Southbound Tampa.
02:52He lost the entire front end, crashing into that, I think it was a tree or something.
02:57He's still going.
02:59In addition to the front bumper and side wreckage, the RV's windshield has been completely
03:05destroyed.
03:06And as the chase continues, additional debris falls off the vehicle.
03:12Officers then spot an unsecured dog in the front seat with the driver, sticking its head
03:18out of the badly damaged RV.
03:21And then...
03:22An animal just fell out of the vehicle, just like a dog on the south side of the street.
03:27A dog just fell out of the vehicle.
03:30And before long, another dog is seen sitting up front with the driver.
03:35Then, as the RV emerges from this overpass, the RV violently collides with another vehicle.
03:50But somehow manages to continue, as one of the troopers pulls over to check on the crash
03:56victim.
03:57And less than a minute later...
03:59All right, suspect just D.C.
04:00Major D.C.
04:01With the second vehicle.
04:02Students keep coming.
04:03Southbound Tampa.
04:04Suspect just hit a car and crashed into a tree.
04:05With the second dog still sticking its head out the front, the RV slams into another vehicle
04:18and then into a tree.
04:21As troopers pull up, they spot the suspect and a dog fleeing on foot.
04:26There's a black shot, a black shot, a black shot, a black shot, a black shot, a black shot,
04:30a black shot, a black shot, a black shot, a black shot, a black shot, a black shot,
04:33a black shot, a black shot.
04:35Troopers quickly exit their vehicles and grab the suspect as she attempts to hop a fence.
04:40You might have killed somebody down there.
04:42I'm scared of jail.
04:44And my dog, that's all I have left.
04:47Don't worry about that right now.
04:49You need to be worried about all the damage.
04:51Sir, I didn't mean to do all that.
04:53I'll do anything.
04:54You should have stopped.
04:58The suspect, 52-year-old Julie Ann Rainbird, suffered minor injuries
05:03and was taken to a hospital for treatment before being arrested.
05:07The victim of the final crash suffered serious injuries,
05:11including a punctured lung, broken ribs, and a spinal fracture.
05:15He was taken to a hospital and treated.
05:18The first dog, named Onyx, who jumped out of the RV,
05:21suffered abrasions to his front left and back paws.
05:25The second dog, Starlet, who stayed by Rainbird's side, suffered minor injuries, including bleeding from its paw.
05:34Both dogs received treatment for their injuries and were initially taken by animal control.
05:39Later, they were both adopted by a family in the state of Oregon.
05:44Rainbird was hit with 18 total charges, including hit and run, animal cruelty, DUI, assault with a deadly weapon, and fleeing.
05:54She took a deal and was convicted of those five charges.
05:58The remaining charges were dismissed and Rainbird was never charged for auto theft.
06:03She served eight years, eight months in prison.
06:06And upon her release, Rainbird was banned for life from driving a vehicle.
06:11Next, we're in Fayette County, Georgia, where police are in pursuit of an armed fugitive,
06:20who they say allegedly kidnapped an employee at a fast-food restaurant.
06:26Earlier, Fayetteville PD got a 911 call.
06:45After the suspect fled with the employee, police arrived on the scene and spoke with the restaurant manager.
06:51All right, what happened?
06:53So, the guy came in, and when she saw him, she pulled me to the side and she was like,
06:58remember my ex-boyfriend I was telling you about? He just came in.
07:01And I was like, where is he? So, because I wanted to, you know, make her, she looked frightened.
07:06That's when he walked back from here. And I was like, excuse me, you can't come back here.
07:10And he pushed past him and walked up to her, and she started screaming.
07:14She's like, he got a gun, he got a gun. And I heard him cock the gun, grab her arm, and he walked her out with the gun at her side.
07:20Like this, and walked her out the front door.
07:23Police ID the suspect as 20-year-old Cameron Jamichael Hopkins, the employee's ex-boyfriend.
07:30And this was not the first time he'd been accused of this.
07:33A year earlier, according to court records, Hopkins was arrested after dragging the same woman out of a vehicle at gunpoint,
07:41forcing her into his vehicle and fleeing. He was charged with making terroristic threats,
07:47kidnapping, and other crimes before being released on a $162,000 bond.
07:54Now, dispatch relays info to officers on duty.
08:07And it's not long before Clayton County Officer Jacob Collins spots the vehicle driving through this intersection.
08:13Officer Collins attempts a traffic stop, but the suspect speeds away.
08:23Yeah, he's not stopping. Speed's climbing to 70, coming up on McDonough Road, no traffic.
08:28Taking a left on McDonough Road.
08:32As the chase continues, the fugitive increases his speed. Speed's climbing to 95.
08:43And begins driving recklessly.
08:45Well, he's on the wrong side of the road, way back in and out of traffic.
08:48He's now over 100, about 105.
08:51As the suspect approaches the center median, he runs into trouble.
08:56He's in the median. He's probably going to go flat or short.
09:00The damage slows the fugitive's car, and Officer Collins catches up just as he makes this turn.
09:06Yeah, it looks like he's currently in high school here.
09:13The pit maneuver is a success, as it brings the fugitive's vehicle to a halt.
09:18But then...
09:19Shot's fired. Shot's fired.
09:24Hey, I'm behind you. I'm behind you.
09:26Where is he?
09:27I don't know.
09:28As Collins and another officer take cover, the suspect continues shooting.
09:35As backup arrives, officers plan their next move.
09:39Hey, I'm going to pop him for three out of three.
09:41I'm going to pop this back window.
09:42All right.
09:43Try to get a visual.
09:44Look out.
09:45Less lethal.
09:46Less lethal.
09:47Less lethal.
09:48Using less lethal projectiles, officers shoot out the suspect's back window.
09:55And then fire a chemical irritant into the car in hopes of forcing him out.
10:00Show us your hands!
10:02Put your hands up the window!
10:04Hey, let me see your hands!
10:06Show us your hands!
10:09I see his hands in the back window.
10:11Keep your hands rocking sound!
10:13Keep your hands at the window!
10:15Eventually, the fugitive emerges from the vehicle.
10:18He's coming out?
10:19No, I got this .
10:20Come out!
10:21I'm coming with the shield!
10:22Come out!
10:23Come out the door!

11:04The suspect's weapon was found inside the vehicle.
11:07Where's the gun at?
11:08There's a gun on the passenger floorboard.
11:10All right.
11:10Officers gave the suspect water for his burning eyes before transporting him to Clayton County Jail.
11:17Hopkins was charged with murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated stalking, possession of a weapon, and other charges.
11:27If convicted, he could be facing the death penalty.
12:00When Delmore pulled up alongside the car, he says the driver crouched down as if trying to hide his face, so he initiated a traffic stop.
12:10But the suspect did not comply.
12:12He began driving dangerously, hitting speeds over 100 miles an hour and traveling in the opposite lane of traffic, blowing through a stop sign, and making several illegal U-turns.
12:28Now, Washington County deputies Jeremy Anderson and Dustin Rogers, traveling in the same vehicle, join the pursuit.
12:38As the suspect continues driving recklessly, nearly slamming head-on into oncoming cars.
12:47As the chase continues on local roads, Trooper Elmore closes in, and the suspect suddenly slams on his brakes.
12:57The impact of the crash tears the rear bumper off the suspect's car.
13:08But he keeps going, and about a minute later, the fugitive hits his brakes again.
13:14Despite the suspect's evasive moves, the trooper manages to execute a successful pimp maneuver, which also disables the suspect's vehicle.
13:33But the fugitive's vehicle, but the fugitive refuses to give up.
13:41But the fugitive refuses to give up.
13:43He runs across the road, pops a fence, and runs into a wooded area, as all three officers pursue.
13:54Less than a minute later, with the officers still in the woods, the fugitive hops back over the fence and runs up the road.
14:11The three officers return to their vehicles to plan their next move.
14:17The deputies get back in their cruiser and head toward a side road.
14:28As they turn onto the road, deputies spot the suspect hiding in the brush.
14:38Get out of here.
14:40Get out of here.
14:41Get out of here.
14:42Get out of here.
14:43Get out of here.
14:44Get out of here.
14:45Deputies apprehend the suspect.
14:47Oh, man.
14:50Dude.
14:51And drive him back to the crash site where backup has arrived.
14:56What's up, big dog?
14:58Who's all right, bro?
15:00Big Daddy.
15:01How about it, buddy?
15:03What's your name?

15:16battery.
15:17Yeah, bro, why are you stopping me though?
15:19Your windows are too dark for starters.

15:31Like, I don't want to throw up in the car, bro.
15:36I don't want to throw up in your car, bro.
15:39Oh, ****.
15:45Guess I just got two of them needed.

16:32Next, we are in Tampa, Florida, where local PD and highway patrol are engaged in the high-speed
16:38pursuit of a man wanted for battery on a law enforcement officer. Earlier, police say the
16:46suspect fled from a traffic stop, and after running his plate, they discovered that the driver, 28-year-old
16:56Travis Lee Craig, had multiple active warrants for several crimes, included aggravated battery on a
17:02law enforcement officer, driving while license revoked, and reckless driving. Now, the department's
17:09aviation unit joins officers on the ground in pursuit of the fugitive.
17:14He's cutting out of traffic northbound with a signal 18 challenger that fled.
17:18As he drives recklessly across multiple counties, Tampa PD reach out to the Florida Highway Patrol for support.
17:28I'm trying to see if I can get FHP. Yeah, I think they already called for it.
17:32As the chase continues, and traffic begins to thicken, a third trooper chases the fugitive along this
17:51emergency lane.
17:54You can hear me. This is the center lane going into the left lane behind a red pickup truck. Mile marker at 338.
18:10Suddenly, about 30 minutes into the pursuit, the suspect loses control
18:16of the car and drives off the side of the road near a tree line.
18:21Here he goes.
18:22Okay, the car on here.
18:23The suspect gets out of the car and runs into the woods.
18:27We're going on here.
18:29I'm trying to get a little cut.
