00:00Tonight, we're hearing from the mother of a man declared missing in Myrtle Beach.
00:15This is not like our son. He would not just disappear without a trace. He just would.
00:22Not knowing where her son is or if he's okay, she's living a mother's worst nightmare.
00:28I'm worried that he is hurt. It's the not knowing. It's the nightmare in all this.
00:35I'm worried that someone is hurting.
00:38I just beg the public to keep us in your prayers because, you know, God is the only one that's going to get us all free.
00:51Every suspect accused of a crime has the right to remain silent.
00:55Many agree to be interrogated anyway, but they can stop the interview at any moment, making it a race against time.
01:05Justice hangs in the balance.
01:07Christopher Bowling's mother contacted the Myrtle Beach Police Department because, even though he was 25 years old,
01:24Chris was the sort of person who got in touch with his mother fairly frequently, but he didn't make any contact for five or six days.
01:31He stopped showing up at work. It got to the point where several people were concerned.
01:35Chris's mom, she was just extremely emotional and convinced that something bad had happened to Chris.
01:46Shortly after police received the phone call, they checked local hospitals.
01:51No hits on the hospitals. They went to his apartment, knocked several times.
01:55No answer at the apartment. They had no leads.
01:58It's like he had just vanished.
01:59Marissa shared with us that Chris was from Tennessee, but moved to Myrtle Beach
02:23because his son, who was two at the time, lived in Myrtle Beach, and he wanted to be closer to his son.
02:32She told us that on July 28th, Chris was supposed to have their son and that she had not heard from him.
02:42She said that was very out of character and unlike him, that he was always reliable when it would come to meeting with his son.
02:51And she was extremely worried about Chris.
02:56There was no activity after the late evening of the 27th.
03:11We still weren't sure if there was some kind of foul play, but we all felt that something bad had happened to Chris.
03:19Chris was my best friend.
03:34He would even tell people, I'm a mama's boy, you know.
03:38He had a big heart.
03:41He loved his sisters.
03:43With the youngest one, when she was born, Chris called her his baby, and he was very protective of her.
03:53He was so special and so gifted.
03:58He became passionate in rapping.
04:02The age 14, 15, some around in there.
04:05I mean, to hear him spit those lyrics out like he did, it's unreal.
04:10Chris had ambition, perseverance.
04:17As he got older, he was wanting to be a producer.
04:20He would make beats for other kids out there that wanted to go into that type of music.
04:28When he went missing, I felt like I'm in a nightmare and I'm never going to wake up.
04:34I keep looking at my phone, hoping that he would text or call.
04:42I was praying that Chris was alive.
04:45July 27th is not only the last day Christopher Sky Bowling was officially seen in Myrtle Beach,
05:02but it's also the last day Kelly similarly says she heard from her sons.
05:06We want answers.
05:08We want to know where our son is.
05:26We are speaking with Tyler Panzarella.
05:30How long have you known Chris?
05:34Not too long.
05:36He advised that he did not know Chris very well, that he had met Chris through a mutual friend.
05:44So his son and stuff was here.
05:46So he was asking me, he's like, hey, I want to come down to Myrtle Beach and everything.
05:51Could you help me out and let me stay with you?
05:53I'll pay you rent or whatever.
05:54And I was like, yeah, no problem.
05:55And then Tyler told us that Chris decided to come down here with his two friends from back home as well, Bailey and Nick.
06:02Once they arrived, Bailey and Nick also asked, hey, can we also stay with you for some time?
06:07And he agreed, yes, they all could stay there temporarily.
06:10Last time I heard from him, I think it was like the 26th, 27th, I believe it was.
06:17And then he just kept talking about like this girl he was talking about and going to like North Carolina with her.
06:24Who's the girl? Do you know?
06:25I have no idea.
06:26I don't know the specific name.
06:27And then like, didn't answer my phone calls or nothing, anything, nothing at all.
06:34Do you have Bailey and Nick's numbers?
06:36Yeah.
06:37Tyler said that after Chris went missing, Nick and Bailey had moved back to Tennessee.
06:44Tyler didn't seem nervous, but the information he was sharing that Chris would all of a sudden run off with a girl as much as he cared about his son, it didn't make sense.
06:56There was a gut feeling that things weren't adding up and that something was wrong.
07:16Nick Henry said that he had not spoken to Chris since the end of July and that he had basically left Myrtle Beach to do with a girl.
07:23Again, it was just more of the same story that just didn't make any sense to us.
07:28Something just wasn't right.
07:29Detectives delved into his Snapchat, found a couple posts that he had made the day that he went missing.
07:51He had posted a full body selfie where you could see what he was wearing.
07:54The shoes he was wearing were some blue Jordans.
07:58We learned that Chris was actually making plans to stay in Myrtle Beach.
08:03He was in the process of getting his own apartment.
08:06He had posted on social media on the 27th showing that apartment complex.
08:10That contradicted what we had learned from Tyler and Nick as far as him leaving town with a girl.
08:15We were very suspicious of Tyler.
08:41So we had a cadaver dog come and be on scene during the search warrant.
08:48The cadaver dog that was brought in actually alerted inside the apartment between the living room and the master bedroom.
08:55That was a location that Chris was known to sleep at.
08:58And when the dog got to the area, it positively alerted for human remains.
09:06Speaking to the people that, you know, are in charge of those dogs, they said it could have been something as simple as some kind of trace evidence or something being carried from clothing or from the shoes and that kind of stuff to the apartment.
09:18So at that point, we are transitioning from this missing person's case to now we're having direct evidence of a homicide occurring.
09:26Hey, Tyler, how are you doing?
09:51Good.
09:52I'm Detective Eddie.
09:52This is Detective Whitmer.
09:53You mind if we're stepping in and talking to you?
09:54Our game plan was to start non-confrontational and kind of let him run the interview at that point.
10:08All you're signing for is that I read you your rights and you understand those rights.
10:11Then after we get his statement on video, we would start questioning the inconsistencies and make it more of an interrogation.
10:21What day was the last time you saw Chris?
10:24Like 6 or 27.
10:26So what was the circumstance around that?
10:28It was his mind.
10:29He said he was leaving and Nick was like, oh, I think he's just going with that girl.
10:33I'm spending the night here.
10:34So, I mean, like, you guys inside when he's, like, packing up and stuff?
10:37Like, what's the...
10:37Yeah, I was leaving because I wanted to go to my friend Devin's house on Caroline Forest.
10:41Anybody else go to you guys?
10:42Yeah, Nick and Bailey went with me to Devin's.
10:44Did you guys hang around until you saw him leave or you guys just dropped him off?
10:49Just dropped him off.
10:50Like, the back of the parking lot, that's when he was just gone.
10:55Now he's locked himself into the story.
10:58Then that's when we decided to transition to the interrogation, asking direct questions and being able to verify whether he's been caught in a lie.
11:06I think he was talking to Nick about it.
11:08I haven't talked to him at all.
11:10We're all grown men so we don't do our own thing.
11:12You know, originally we were kind of helping the missing persons division, okay?
11:17At this point, I mean, we think that something happened to Chris.
11:21And we're obviously talking to you because you're one of the last people that saw him, okay?
11:25This is the important part, okay?
11:26For you to basically be 100% truthful and just listen to him for a second, okay?
11:33To tell us everything you know, okay?
11:35Because we think something happened, you're possibly an accident, okay?
11:39And we think you know something about it.
11:42We've been in investigation for a long time.
11:55The Myrtle Beach Police Department has not, not solved an investigation like this since 2000.
12:00Okay, 20 years.
12:01So, what do you think?
12:04What I was saying, that's not 100% truthful.
12:06You know what I mean?
12:07I haven't seen him since then.
12:10I'll tell you right now, when we came here into the search warrant, we had a cadaver dog come.
12:14The dog alerted to a possible deceased person in your apartment.
12:19That doesn't make sense to you.
12:20Where did he alert?
12:22Or like, where?
12:23Did it just like, in general?
12:25Or just like...
12:26What I'm trying to do, I mean, I'm not playing games with you.
12:28If you're, I know, I'm just, I know.
12:31What I'm saying is, I'm trying to give you every opportunity to basically tell us anything additional you may have.
12:37We need to know now, because later on, when we put the puzzle together, which we're going to do, we're not going to have this conversation.
12:44Does that make sense?
12:44You can tell Tyler was getting a little nervous.
12:50It's at that point he realizes that his story's falling apart.
12:55So he has an option.
12:57And the option is to change his story or tell the truth.
13:00Do you think that Nick or Bailey would be capable of doing something to Chris?
13:28When you say Bailey, I mean, just from like the way Nick talks and carries himself, like, maybe.
13:39Nick scares me, okay, if I can be really honest, like, truly, like this one, like, freaks me out.
13:45And so, like, he, like, said weird stuff about, or basically, like, that he might have done something.
13:52And that just scares the shit out of me.
13:53Like, I've never been around that.
13:55I've never, like, you know what I mean?
13:56What did he tell you?
13:57What was the road?
13:58What's that old haunted road?
14:00Like, on Lucas Bay Road?
14:01I never heard this story.
14:03It was, like, a family haunted road back there.
14:05He was saying he went there and, like, did something or whatever.
14:09Like, said he killed somebody.
14:11But, like, and then that's when my gun went missing.
14:14But I don't know who it was, but it's scary.
14:16Well, here in that story.
14:18Yeah.
14:19Do you think it could be Chris?
14:20I mean, now, yeah.
14:22Honestly.
14:23As Tyler is recounting that part of the story, I felt that he was telling partial truths.
14:35But we were trying to just not show any reaction.
14:42Just keep him talking.
14:43If you're scared of Nick or Bailey or someone else or, you know, the best thing you do if you want to help yourself out is tell the truth.
14:50So, did you see Chris dead at any point?
14:59Okay.
14:59Can you tell us what happened?
15:01Nick was telling me to go there.
15:03He thought we were just going to go do some, like, haunted stuff or, like, on that road or whatever.
15:07So, like, we went there.
15:08And then, like, he had my gun or whatever.
15:12And then just, like, hit it.
15:13Like, just shot him.
15:14Dick shot, Chris.
15:21How many times did you shoot him?
15:24Where?
15:26Then what happened?
15:28I'm just shaking, scared of my f***ing pipes.
15:30I don't know if he's going to shoot me or what.
15:32I don't know.
15:33I'm not a chronic, like, this is, like, the scary f*** I've ever seen.
15:35I completely understand.
15:36When he's talking about shaking and freaking out, he's showing no emotion at all.
15:44To me, his demeanor seemed like he's being dishonest.
15:49But we were extremely concerned with finding out where Chris was.
15:54So, we didn't want to press too much.
15:58So, you're up down Lucas Road.
15:59Who's with you?
16:00You?
16:00Nick and Bailey.
16:01Okay, so, the four of you get out of the car, and what happens?
16:08We just walk into the woods and we just shot him.
16:12What was the conversation before the gun went on?
16:14Nothing.
16:15We were just all walking through the woods.
16:18So, how did Nick get the gun?
16:19I mean, he just took it out of your car?
16:21Or who had the gun when you guys got out of the car?
16:23Because I was walking, and I, um, because he told me to bring it or whatever.
16:27So, I was like, okay.
16:28And then he was like, hey, let me see it.
16:29And I was like, for what?
16:30He's like, I just want to shoot it.
16:31So, I was like, okay.
16:33And then I handed it to him.
16:36How far were they standing?
16:37I, like, standing like that.
16:40Okay, so, 60 feet, you ever take, arm extended, or?
16:47Yeah.
16:48How?
16:48I don't want to do it like that.
16:49No, you can.
16:50You don't have anything that you're in.
16:51Yeah, okay.
16:52I'm not living just like that.
16:55I could tell that he was reliving that moment.
17:00He appeared to be seeing Chris.
17:04He didn't see me standing there.
17:06And you could just see the blank look in his eyes.
17:10It seemed like he was the one that shot Chris.
17:14And he was trying to shift the focus to Nick.
17:17He seemed to be giving us all the facts of the case, just downplaying his involvement at that point.
17:24So, did Nick say anything right after Shaman?
17:27No, nothing.
17:28He just was quiet.
17:29And then he just, like, he was like, take this.
17:31So, he gave you back the gun?
17:32Yeah.
17:33I didn't know what to do, so I just grabbed him and went to the car.
17:36He's telling us that Nick shoots somebody with his gun, with Tyler's gun, and then gives the gun back to him.
17:45At this point, you'd be able to point the gun at Nick if you wanted to.
17:48You'd be able to say, I'm leaving.
17:49I'm getting in my car.
17:49I'm not taking you with me.
17:51I'm going to the police.
17:52It just doesn't make sense.
17:53That moment, Tyler was the lead in the homicide investigation.
18:11At that point, we did not have any physical evidence, and we did not have a body.
18:18So, we charged him with obstruction of justice for impeding and hindering our missing person investigation.
18:28He's just going back down there.
18:48You got a handcuff key on your thing?
18:56Yeah.
18:56You just want to get him out and take the shackles off?
19:00Swing your feet around, man.
19:01We're going to take these leg shackles off real fast.
19:03The entire time, he didn't put off the air of being scared.
19:15He was just cold and emotionless.
19:20To the right, a little bit of something like that.
19:28It's kind of like saying that you're 1, 2 o'clock.
19:32I think that's about the spot then.
19:35You want to check it out.
19:37For me, in that moment, the lack of emotion just solidified that he was the one that shot Chris.
19:46Be careful where you're stepping up.
19:50There's a crime scene.
19:52Yeah, I'm going to follow up here.
20:13You remember what shoes he was wearing that night?
20:14You see, like, blue Jordans.
20:17Blue and white.
20:21From where I'm standing, I can see shoes that appear to be the same shoes that Chris was wearing
20:31in the Snapchat from the night before he went missing.
20:36For me, that was probably one of the biggest moments of the case because at that point,
20:40you know that it's more than likely going to be Chris.
20:44I remember telling my husband,
20:47I remember telling my husband,
20:50he's gone.
20:52He's gone.
20:52I didn't want to believe it.
20:54I would have died for him.
20:59He was my first.
21:01I remember telling my husband.
21:03I remember telling my husband, he's gone.
21:07He's gone.
21:08I didn't want to believe it.
21:10I would have died for him.
21:12I would have died for him.
21:16He was my first.
21:17Once the body's found, we decided, let's basically turn that heat up.
21:22We were trying to rattle Tyler.
21:24We're trying to get him to make a confession.
21:26As a law enforcement officer, you're actually allowed to lie in interviews.
21:30You just got to be careful as far as, you know, what you're lying about.
21:58Sergeant Lent tells them that he just talked to Nick and Bailey and that they are saying
22:17that Tyler is the shooter.
22:20What he is saying is a lie.
22:22We had not spoken to Nick or Bailey.
22:25We wanted to see if he changed his story or what his reaction was.
22:29They're saying that you planned this.
22:32You drove him out there.
22:33You had the gun.
22:35Y'all walked out there.
22:37You gave the gun.
22:39And you shot him.
22:40No.
22:41I never had a problem with Chris.
22:42Nothing.
22:43Ever.
22:44I'm not like that, man.
22:45I don't.
22:46I came from a good family.
22:47I promise you, man.
22:48I would never do that to someone.
22:49Ever.
22:50They say you did it.
22:51No.
22:52I'm telling you, I'm a good person.
22:53I would never, never in my entire life.
22:54Ever.
22:55You saying he was a good guy?
22:56Why didn't you call 911 whenever you left there?
22:57You just left him out there to die.
22:58Because I was scared, man.
22:59I didn't know what to do.
23:00This is your chance.
23:01I mean, did you do it?
23:02No.
23:03Did you kill him?
23:04No.
23:05No.
23:06I'm being 100% honest on everything.
23:07No.
23:08I told you everything that happened.
23:09I was.
23:10No.
23:11So, was it an accident?
23:12You shot him?
23:13No.
23:14No.
23:15Was it an accident?
23:16You shot him?
23:17No.
23:18No.
23:19No.
23:20No.
23:21I'm being 100% honest on everything.
23:24No.
23:25I told you everything that happened.
23:27I was.
23:28No.
23:29Was it an accident?
23:30You shot him by accident?
23:31I never saw him.
23:32Because Nick had the gun.
23:33Or are you just a monster and just say, hey, we're going to take you into the woods and
23:36blow your head off?
23:37No.
23:38When Nick had the gun, he's been like, he scares me.
23:42He's been scared of me ever since.
23:43Like, he got like, that's the type of person he is.
23:47So, for a normal person, if you are scared and you just saw somebody murder somebody, are
23:52you going to, one, take that gun back, and then if you're truly nervous, now you have
23:55the only weapon.
23:56So, at that point, why not remove yourself from the situation?
23:59But he's doing everything that Nick tells him to do, even when Nick no longer has a gun,
24:03which is kind of strange.
24:04I've tried.
24:05No, I should have told you guys.
24:06I've never been around that.
24:08I've never been in that situation.
24:10If you're surrounded by someone every day, you're going to get on each other's nerves.
24:13All right, Tyler.
24:14Sit tight.
24:15We'll be right back again.
24:16Okay.
24:17All right, Tyler.
24:18This is Sergeant Lynn.
24:19This is my Sergeant, okay?
24:20Sergeant Lynn is more assertive, more direct.
24:27I've been sitting in another room listening to you, listening to everything you say.
24:34All these guys have told me everything that's been going on for the last three or four weeks
24:40or whenever the hell this s*** started.
24:42All right, you're how old?
24:4323.
24:44What are you planning on doing with your life?
24:45Be the best person I can be.
24:46Really?
24:47Where do you want to be that best person?
24:50Let me tell you right now.
24:51You're fixing to go to prison.
24:52Guess what's going to get done with your entire car.
24:55But I think he's going to be the best person to get on the way.
24:57What's going to be going to be going to be a better person to get on the way.
25:05You're going to be going to be more assertive, more direct.
25:11Tyler. You're going from here, you're going to get charged with murder. You're going to be
25:15charged with killing Chris. Do you understand that? Look at me. Don't sit there and give me
25:22these crocodile tears. Tyler, don't sit here and bull me. Tyler, you've played the game in here long
25:40enough. You're involved in some that you would have never, ever, ever been done if you were
25:50a good person. Because you don't go out to Lucas Bay Lights and bring a gun into the woods
25:56at night if you ain't got something planned. So be honest. This story, to be able to tell
26:04this story shouldn't take you any more than five minutes from beginning to end. So that's
26:09what you think. You think I'm just that type of person. Yeah, I think you're the kind
26:13of person that takes a friend out into the middle of the woods. From what representation
26:17though? From your own words! You took your gun out of the glove box. You can smile all
26:23the f*** you want. I'm not smiling right now. You're smirking. I'm not smirking. You took
26:27your gun out of the f*** damn glove box. You say you handed it to another kid who then shot
26:33your buddy. And then you all just f***. Let's just go back in the car and go back to my apartment.
26:38It takes you a month to come forward and say, I didn't know what to do. No! You didn't
26:42know what to do. You're a good person. But good people, you know what they don't do? They
26:46don't leave a f***ing kid to lay out in the woods to get eaten by animals. That's what
26:50you did. You got him. Five minutes. Five minutes. You better talk.
26:55It may appear that he lost his patience and left the room, but that's by plan. Lent,
27:04the quote unquote bad cop, then Detective DeWitt be the big cop. That was pretty much our strategy
27:08at that point. After Lent's no longer in the room, hopefully Tyler is now going to open
27:13up to the other detective that's in that room. Because he's being nice and reasonable,
27:17I don't want to talk to him. Is there anything else you can think of? Anything whatsoever?
27:25We know what happened. We know what the story is. We know where the body is and stuff like
27:30that. I made a mistake. I should have came to you guys sooner and I should have. I just
27:34I didn't know what to do. I had no idea. But now I got to live with that. There's really
27:41nothing I can do to get away from this. I know that. I made a mistake, dude. I got to
27:51pay for that. He never came out and said he was the one who did it. But the interrogation
27:57of Tyler, it was critical. Because he put himself there. He was the only one who owned
28:03a gun. His story, it didn't make sense. It didn't all match up. What is important to consider
28:10in this case is that Nick and Bailey are from Tennessee. Meanwhile, Tyler is from around
28:17here. If any of them would be familiar with a local ghost story that is urban legend around
28:24here, it would certainly have been Tyler.
28:34Now, it was extremely important for the officers to talk to Nick and to talk to Bailey. For
28:39them to establish everything that happened during that shooting.
29:09he was like very thrown off his game because he was obviously seeing us from Myrtle Beach
29:16and Horry County. I'm sure that heightened his senses and the fact where it's like he knows
29:22why we're there.
29:23he knows why we're there.
29:29He was obviously seeing us from Myrtle Beach and Horry County. I'm sure that heightened his
29:36lover was here.
29:37he might go to jail.
29:38He might go to jail or jail.
29:39He might go to jail or jail.
29:40But let's have a conversation and we'll kind of cross that bridge and get to it, okay?
29:41All right, Nick. So, keep it real with you, okay?
29:42Yeah.
29:43Obviously, we from South Carolina. I work for Horry County. He works for North Beach. We've been
29:46have a conversation and we'll kind of
29:48cross that bridge we can't do it.
29:50Okay. All right, Nate, so
29:51keep it real with you, okay?
29:54Yeah. Um, obviously we from
29:55South Carolina. I work for Horry County.
29:57He was from Beach. We've been
29:59working on a case for quite some time now, okay?
30:02And we have reason to believe that you
30:03are involved in that case, okay?
30:05So we're going to go back to the night or the July
30:0727th, 2020.
30:09Yeah.
30:10Tell everybody.
30:10I don't want to say anything.
30:17Why?
30:21Take some deep breaths, man.
30:25He told me he was like,
30:27if you ever tell anybody, I'm going to
30:29give you a video of your grandpa.
30:33Please.
30:35I don't want to say that to my grandpa.
30:38Please.
30:40Make sure you get new to us, dude.
30:59Please.
31:00Yeah, that's my house key.
31:03Take some deep breaths, man.
31:05So please.
31:08Take some tea.
31:09Just drink some water.
31:13He was so emotional that he wasn't,
31:15he couldn't control himself.
31:18It was important to try to settle him,
31:21make him feel comfortable and relaxed.
31:25There are times where you need to be
31:28softer and coax
31:30the information
31:32that you are trying to learn.
31:34For the four days, please,
31:36to be your side of the story.
31:37And we'll have a conversation.
31:39That's all we're going to do today, okay?
31:42So tell him what happened.
31:44Who thinks he's a child?
31:45He's a idiot.
31:46He's a idiot.
31:49He's a idiot.
31:49He's a idiot.
31:49He's a idiot.
31:53Please don't tell him.
31:54I told you.
31:54So,
31:59Kyle's in jail.
32:01So he's not a threat to your family, okay?
32:02Okay.
32:03But,
32:03unfortunately,
32:05you got you wrapped up in this, okay?
32:07So we're just trying to see
32:08what you can provide to us
32:09as far as you,
32:10from your point of view,
32:11okay,
32:11to make sure we have
32:12the story here.
32:14Okay?
32:14So that's what we're looking for from you.
32:15Okay, so
32:21we're in the car
32:23and we're driving.
32:25Who's there?
32:27Baby Sky's house.
32:29Whenever you say Sky,
32:30who's Sky?
32:31What's his real name?
32:34Chris.
32:36I guess Sky said something
32:37about his nephew
32:39or something like that
32:40and started making fun of him
32:41and Tyler just looked at him
32:43like that was the last straw.
32:45They haven't really got along.
32:49What else can you tell me?
32:51We're just driving and driving
32:53and I didn't know
32:54where the hell we're going
32:55and his face was on some old dirt road
32:58and he was talking about
32:59some haunted forest
33:01or haunted something
33:02and everybody was just freaked out
33:05and we started walking
33:08and he made sure he was behind us
33:10and we all got somewhere
33:13wherever he wanted
33:15where he wanted us to go to.
33:17Wait, tell me.
33:17It was just a specific spot
33:18and he just stooped him.
33:23I was just
33:24I was terrified.
33:28I didn't know
33:28if I was going to die to him
33:29and
33:30you know
33:32it was just
33:33I've never seen anything
33:35like that before
33:36and
33:36I didn't know what to do.
33:38So you didn't touch
33:40the body at all?
33:41No.
33:42I promise I didn't.
33:43I swear to God.
33:44You didn't pulse nothing.
33:46Just left him there.
33:47I was scared.
33:50He just popped him
33:51in front of me.
33:52One of the differences
33:57in the interview
33:59with Nick
34:00as opposed to
34:02the interview
34:02with Tyler
34:03Nick
34:05was
34:05very upset
34:06and showing
34:08fear
34:08a lot of emotion.
34:10He just seems to be
34:12saying what he's feeling
34:14and exactly
34:15what he's trying to convey.
34:18He's actually scared
34:19of the whole situation
34:20compared to like
34:21where Tyler's very composed.
34:24Why would he say he shot?
34:28Tyler said I shot him?
34:29Mm-hmm.
34:29Because Tyler shot him.
34:32Like
34:33like listen bro
34:34like
34:35I'm telling y'all
34:37that God's honest truth.
34:38I did not do it.
34:40He did it.
34:42When you see someone
34:43get extremely emotional
34:45in the face
34:47of an allegation
34:48of a crime
34:49moving around
34:51and waving around
34:52usually they're being
34:54honest
34:55because they're
34:57worried
34:58and upset
34:58that you're going to believe
34:59false information
35:01but with Nick
35:02we thought to
35:03push him
35:05a little further
35:06and see
35:07if his emotions changed
35:09if his demeanor changed
35:11and
35:12if anything
35:13in his story changed.
35:15and I have the proof
35:16that
35:17it was his gun
35:18it was the first day
35:18I met him
35:19and he showed me
35:20it was not me
35:22I swear to God
35:23I got it.
35:33I got it.
35:34There's all that
35:34from the loose right there.
35:37See that?
35:38What is it?
35:39Yeah, you tell me
35:40what it is.
35:40What is that?
35:42I'll show you a better picture.
35:43Look at that.
35:44Look at it.
35:45Look at it.
35:47See that?
35:48Y'all did that.
35:49I just threw it.
35:50See that?
35:51Look at that.
35:52Who's that right there?
35:52Who's this right here?
35:56Look at it.
35:58Shit!
35:59Who did that?
36:13What are you going to tell
36:14his kids, man?
36:15I'm the one who took him
36:39down there
36:40to see his kids.
36:41And now he's dead.
36:42It's not my fault.
36:43You see it?
36:46It's not my fault, bro.
36:53Even under that
36:54extreme pressure,
36:54you know,
36:55he's still
36:55saying he didn't do it.
36:57It's not my fault.
36:58He's still
36:59naming Tyler
37:01as the person
37:01that did it.
37:01So you're seeing him
37:02actually get frustrated
37:03and getting angry
37:04about the situation
37:05because he's being blamed
37:05in his mind
37:07for something
37:07that he didn't do.
37:08Did you
37:11tell him
37:12for the plan
37:13with Tyler?
37:14No.
37:14Tyler...
37:15Contributed to the plan
37:15that Tyler had
37:16for this whole situation?
37:17No.
37:18Neither did Bailey.
37:19What percent
37:20of responsibility
37:23do you think
37:23Tyler has
37:24for this?
37:24What happened?
37:25Zero,
37:25a hundred.
37:26Zero being the least,
37:27a hundred being the worst.
37:28Like a hundred.
37:29He's the one who...
37:30Let me ask you this.
37:31Bailey,
37:31what percentage
37:32do you think
37:33he is
37:33for this?
37:35None.
37:36Zero.
37:37Zero percent?
37:38Yeah.
37:38And what percent
37:39do you think
37:39you are
37:40related to this?
37:42I couldn't say anything.
37:44I couldn't.
37:46Percent is why.
37:47Do you think
37:47you have no
37:48responsibility
37:49for what happened?
37:50I mean,
37:50I couldn't help it.
37:52So,
37:52like,
37:52maybe,
37:52like,
37:53two or something,
37:53but I can't,
37:54I can't,
37:54I can't just stop that
37:55because he was going
37:57to do that to me,
37:58too.
38:00Like,
38:01please,
38:01it wasn't me.
38:02I swear to God,
38:03it wasn't me.
38:05Watching Nick,
38:06I think that his emotions
38:07were real in that aspect.
38:09Everything he said
38:09and the way he was reacting,
38:10I really believe
38:11that he was scared
38:12of Tyler at that point.
38:13What made it believable
38:15was the fact that Nick
38:17was not just scared
38:18for himself.
38:20He was scared
38:21for his grandfather
38:22and for his family.
38:23He seemed to get
38:24more emotional
38:25talking about that.
38:28All right,
38:28this is a voluntary statement.
38:29Everything you just told us,
38:31you'd be writing on paper.
38:32Aye.
38:34Take your time.
38:53It's very important
38:54because Bailey
38:55hasn't had the finger point
38:56at him yet.
38:57So we wanted to really
38:58talk to Bailey
38:58because we figured
38:59that he'd be
38:59the most independent person.
39:00Is he going to say
39:01that it was Nick?
39:01Is he going to say
39:02that it was Tyler?
39:03So here's the deal, Bailey.
39:26We ultimately know
39:28what happened to Chris.
39:29We know you were there.
39:30What we're looking for
39:31now is to see
39:32how cooperative
39:33you're going to be
39:34with us
39:34because we don't need
39:35you getting in trouble
39:36just because your friends
39:37put you in a bad situation
39:38because nobody said
39:39you did anything
39:40but you were there.
39:41What I need to know
39:42is did Tyler shoot him
39:44or did Nick shoot him?
39:46Who shot him?
39:48Who pulled out a gun?
39:49Tyler.
39:50Tyler pulls out his gun
39:51and shoots who?
39:53Chris.
39:54How many shots?
39:55Just one.
39:56Okay.
39:57Make any direct
39:58threats to you?
39:59I mean, he told me
40:00if something happened
40:02he'd know.
40:03Some other people
40:04we've spoken to
40:04said Nick shot him.
40:08No, it wasn't.
40:10No, just because
40:11he's my friend
40:12don't mean I'm going
40:13to stand up for him
40:14because I'm going to try
40:15either way.
40:18But it was Tyler.
40:20Would you be willing
40:21to take a photograph
40:22to show that you're not
40:22having providing
40:23false information
40:24to us today?
40:25Yes, sir.
40:26All right.
40:27Sit tight for me,
40:28all right?
40:28Yes, sir.
40:31After Bailey's interview
40:32he wrote a written
40:34statement and then
40:36he also drew a sketch
40:38where the vehicle
40:40was parked and the way
40:42they were standing
40:43in the woods.
40:45And it just strengthened
40:48our case and Nick
40:50in Bailey's version
40:51of events.
40:59Bailey gave police
41:00all the information
41:01that he was able to
41:03and he did not lie.
41:05Investigators determined
41:06that Bailey's involvement
41:07in this case
41:08was mere presence.
41:10And at that point
41:10he was allowed
41:11to leave the police department.
41:13Bailey was never charged
41:15with anything related
41:16to this case.
41:16The interrogations
41:21were extremely important
41:22in this case.
41:24The initial interrogation
41:27with Tyler
41:28was obviously
41:30the huge turning point.
41:32Yeah, not that they just
41:33like put that
41:34and stuff over there.
41:35All three interrogations
41:38put together
41:39gave us that timeline
41:41of events
41:42and the details
41:44of what happened
41:46that evening.
41:49Normally you can
41:50kind of keep yourself
41:51detached from cases.
41:53For some reason
41:53this case it was like
41:54Chris didn't do anything
41:56to kind of bring this
41:57upon himself.
41:57He was trying to go to work,
41:59trying to be in his
42:00child's life.
42:01We all really fought
42:02really hard to try
42:03to find the facts
42:04and the truth
42:04of what happened
42:05in this case
42:05to bring closure
42:06to his family.
42:08I want people
42:37to remember Chris
42:38the way I remember Chris.
42:40The happy,
42:42joyful,
42:45witty,
42:46charming kid
42:47that he was.
42:50If I could say
42:51something to Chris
42:52right now
42:53I would tell him
42:56that I loved him
42:58and hopefully one day
43:01I'd see him soon.
