Palghar, Maharashtra – In a shocking case, a 40-year-old woman has been arrested for brutally beating her seven-year-old son to death and attacking her ten-year-old daughter with a rolling pin in Kashipada, Palghar district.
Police identified the accused as Pallavi Dhumde, who was living separately from her husband along with her two children and two sisters.
According to investigators, Pallavi’s son Chinmay (7) had asked for chicken at dinner on Friday night. Pallavi, observing Navratri fast, refused. Enraged by his insistence, she repeatedly assaulted him with a rolling pin on the head, chest, back, and face, leading to his death. She also attacked her daughter Lavya (10), who sustained serious injuries.
Despite their condition, Pallavi did not take the children to hospital. A neighbour, alerted by screams, discovered Chinmay lying dead under a sheet. When confronted, Pallavi falsely claimed he had died of jaundice. The neighbour grew suspicious, noticed multiple injury marks, and alerted police.
Police seized the rolling pin used in the assault. An FIR has been registered under Section 103(1) (murder) and other IPC sections. The injured daughter has been admitted to hospital and later shifted to an ashram for care and safety.
District SP Yatish Deshmukh confirmed the arrest and said investigations are ongoing.
