00:00All right, welcome back in here. The early line on this Tuesday is we've got to get ready, of course, for week four of the NFL season.
00:08And while week three was interesting, the injuries continue to pile up and questions continue to be raised about, well, who's the quarterback going to be this week?
00:21Injuries all over the place. And while lack of winning and being able to provide any offense has been a big problem,
00:29outside of the one game against Dallas for Russell Wilson and the Giants.
00:34But if we're being fair, everybody can throw the ball on the Dallas Cowboy defense.
00:39So the fact that the Giants coach, Brian Dable, was noncommittal to the Russell Wilson starting again this week.
00:48Well, guess what? That means maybe just maybe the Jackson Dart era may be about to begin.
00:55I mean, that is three games now, two of those games for the Giants with Russell Wilson.
01:01They couldn't get out of the single digit category for points.
01:04Now, granted, they lost their kicker, you know, before the game with Graham Minow.
01:09I don't know how that keeps happening last year against Washington, but yet they still managed to be able to score more than single digits.
01:16They weren't able to do that against the Chiefs at home.
01:20So now you got the Chargers coming up here.
01:23So the question is, should they make the move to Jackson Dart or stick with the plan and let Jackson Dart learn behind a veteran no matter what happens in Russell Wilson here, Adam?
01:35That's the dilemma.
01:36Well, let's not forget, too, there are tea leaves to read when it comes to Brian Dable, and I realize after week one, he was a little noncommittal, just somewhat noncommittal to Russell Wilson.
01:49Russ comes back, has that great week two performance, albeit in a loss, not on him, more on the defense.
01:55And then obviously what happens in week three.
01:57But this is kind of out of the Dable playbook when it comes to the way he manages his quarterbacks.
02:03This is how he started to sound before he benched and eventually released Daniel Jones, who, as we know, is tearing it up with Indianapolis right now.
02:11So I think the writing is on the wall, Joe.
02:14I don't think they're going to be sticking to any sort of plan.
02:16I think it's panic time.
02:18This team is 0-3 in a division that is certainly not wide open.
02:23You know, the Eagles are going to win this division unless, for some reason, along the way, they start to slump and the commanders are able to overtake them.
02:30But either way, it's coming down to those two teams.
02:32It's not the Cowboys, and I would say that even if they had a healthy C.D. Lamb, and it's certainly not the 0-3 Giants.
02:39But you're looking for respectability, right?
02:41I mean, you don't want to be right there flirting at the top of the draft with the number one overall pick again after you have just taken a quarterback.
02:48Even if you do, I guess, land there, you're going to use it to package down and maybe get more assets because you're not taking a QB at number one.
02:55They believe in Jackson Dart.
02:57Now, to what degree remains to be seen.
03:00But he was good in the preseason.
03:02Limited opportunity, but he was good.
03:04Some numbers, 32 of 47, 372 yards passing, three touchdowns, no interceptions.
03:11He was mobile as well.
03:12So I think there are probably a lot of reasons that this team is looking to see Dart in action in games that matter.
03:18They've already, in the first couple of weeks, designed some plays for him.
03:23It's not like he's just been standing there on the sidelines holding a clipboard.
03:26He's found his way in certain packages onto the field in these games.
03:31You know, they're starting to knock some of the, I don't know, early nerves off and make that transition possible and get them ready for the madness because it is coming.
03:41Russell Wilson is a stopgap.
03:42He's not an answer.
03:43Wasn't an answer in Pittsburgh, certainly not an answer in New York at this stage of his career.
03:49Guy was great back with Seattle, even had some moments with Denver, but he's toast right now.
03:54And so it's only a matter of time before we see that Jackson Dart, Malik Neighbors connection in action.
04:00Yep.
04:01No Tyrone Tracy either.
04:02He is going to be, he's shelved now with injury news, which means the Cam Scadabo era is officially underway.
04:10In fact, he was the only bright spot for the offense of the Giants in that game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
04:18But not only do we have a quarterback controversy brewing here in New York, question is, what do the Atlanta Falcons do after a absolutely miserable performance by Michael Penix Jr.,
04:33which watched all of a sudden Kurt Cousins come in in the fourth quarter after a game was already out of reach.
04:39It was 27 to nothing.
04:41And Raheem Morris pulls the plug on him.
04:43Kurt Cousins comes in and you are paying this man $180 million to sit on the bench.
04:49And now there are going to be growing pains with a young quarterback like Penix Jr.
04:53We kind of knew it.
04:55You know, the athleticism, the more tape defensive coordinators get on him, the harder it's going to be.
05:02And I mean, quite honestly, it would have been one thing if this was a game he had against that defense of Detroit we saw last night.
05:09But to have it against the defense of the Carolina Panthers, would we be shocked if a couple of more performances that we scratch our head with,
05:19Raheem Morris has to go to his $180 million backup in Kirk Cousins here?
05:24If it's a couple of more 30-0 losses where Penix looks like he doesn't know what he's doing, then no, I wouldn't be shocked.
05:34But pulling the plug right now, that would shock me.
05:37Let's remember, Joe, one thing is a mistake here.
05:40These two things can't exist simultaneously and both be right.
05:43You can't pay Kirk Cousins that massive contract that they did and then go out and take Michael Penix in the top 10 in the same draft year.
05:52You just, you can't do it.
05:54One of those things was an error in judgment.
05:57You can't take Cousins, assume he's going to be your guy, and, you know, Aaron Rodgers behind Brett Favre, Jordan Love behind Rodgers' situation,
06:07conceivably in this era, sit Michael Penix for two, three, four years.
06:12It just, it doesn't work that way in today's NFL.
06:15NFL, that's not the old days.
06:17In today's NFL, you get drafted to play or to play at the very least, say, halfway through your rookie year.
06:25Guys, don't, Patrick Mahomes doesn't sit a year behind Alex Smith anymore.
06:29You know what I mean?
06:30That stuff, it just doesn't happen.
06:32And so Penix, no, he didn't look good in the last game.
06:36He cost me some money.
06:37He cost a lot of people some money.
06:38But at the same time, this is someone that you've got to go through the growing pains.
06:43You've got to fight through it.
06:44You've got to let him deal with it.
06:46Because the second you start benching him and sort of, I don't know, getting in his head, and you have him reevaluating this, reevaluating that.
06:54He's going and talking to sports psychologists.
06:56He's losing confidence, faith in himself.
06:58It is the best way to make sure this does not work out.
07:03I mean, look at Anthony Richardson.
07:04How many times has he been, you're in, you're out, you're in, you're out there in Indianapolis.
07:09And now, with the way that Daniel Jones is playing, Anthony Richardson may never see a snappy quarterback for the Colts again.
07:15Not a meaningful one anyway.
07:16He's done.
07:17It's over there.
07:18And that's the guy they thought was the future.
07:20If you're Atlanta, and I know you're paying Kirk Cousins a ton of money, you can't allow that to happen now with Michael Penix.
07:27Because Cousins has nothing to do with your future.
07:30Bad contract.
07:31It has to age out.
07:32And then he's gone.
07:34Penix is the guy that you invest a draft capital in.
07:36He is the guy that you believe in.
07:38He's the guy that you've got to grow with.
07:41It's going to be interesting to see how that unfolds.
07:44Because in many aspects, they created their own drama, thinking that there weren't going to be growing pains.
07:50And every time he falls flat on his face, there is going to be some rumblings about where is Kirk Cousins?
07:57Again, it's one thing to be a backup quarterback and make $3 million a year.
08:03To be a backup quarterback, you're paying $180 million and you're not winning games?
08:07Yeah, that pressure is going to be on Raheem Morris for the rest of the season for sure.
08:14Until at least they decide to pull the plug and maybe trade Kirk Cousins.
08:18But at $180 million price tag, there's not a lot of teams that can just absorb that into their payroll.
08:26So, we'll keep an eye on that as the weeks continue.
08:30Good news for the 49ers.
08:32Good news, bad news.
08:33Good news is Brock Purdy will be practicing this week.
08:36They are hopeful that he will be ready to go.
08:39He's already missed two games with a turf toe injury.
08:43But Matt Jones has stepped in and now won both of the games.
08:46They didn't have him.
08:47He's 2-0 as a starter.
08:49But he got hurt in that game against Arizona as well.
08:54Aggravated the knee sprain that he also had an issue with during training camp.
08:59So, they may not have the services of Matt Jones this week.
09:03Which means Brock Purdy is going to have to be the go-to guy.
09:06Whatever the issue is, Brock, figure it out.
09:09Get it better.
09:10Rub some dirt on it.
09:11And get back in there.
09:13Welcome back in here.
09:14The early line on the Sports Grid Network.
09:17Joe Ranieri alongside Adam Kaufman.
09:20And before we talk some college football coming up this week, week five,
09:26we're going to learn a lot about a few teams here this week with this schedule.
09:32Just to continue that conversation we were having about what are some teams going to do,
09:36starting quarterbacks remain a big question.
09:40And we're only heading into week four now.
09:43So, we could possibly have a quarterback change in the Jackson Dart era for the Giants.
09:48It looks like Brock Purdy will be back this week.
09:52Jaden Daniels, though, also a big question mark.
09:56We're hearing from Dan Quinn that he is a day-to-day situation right now, which isn't good.
10:03But, you know, this is the unsung hero here in the NFL and maybe one of the worst-kept secrets is
10:10you better have a competent backup quarterback to be able to hold the fourth down.
10:16Now, there's limits to this, right?
10:18Asking a backup quarterback to, you know, win you seven games, six games in a row here to try to save your season is one thing.
10:25But a good backup quarterback should be able to get you two wins like Matt Jones just did in San Francisco for Brock Purdy.
10:34I don't know that there's any rush to get Jaden Daniels back on the field.
10:38I wouldn't, if I was Dan Quinn, be rushing to get him back out on the field,
10:42not with an experienced guy in Mariota who just helped your team put up more offense and more points
10:49than Jaden Daniels had in the two games that he's played so far this season.
10:53So, you know, don't forget, he's a second-year quarterback now in Jaden Daniels
10:58that didn't even look remotely close to what he did a year ago.
11:03And again, you give defensive coordinators a year of tape on you to figure out what your tendencies are.
11:09You're not going to be as electric as you were a year ago.
11:12But Mariota, I think, more than capable of holding the fourth down here for Washington,
11:18which is why you need a capable backup here.
11:21So I wouldn't push him, and I don't think there's a rush to get him back out on the field at this point
11:26as long as Mariota can continue to deliver offensively like he just did last week against the Raiders.
11:34No, I couldn't agree more.
11:35I mean, like you said, Mariota with more offense in that one game than Daniels had in the first two combined.
11:41I realize, you know, there was a good Packers defense in there in that loss,
11:45sandwiched in between the couple of wins that the Commanders have had so far,
11:49beat up on the Giants there in week one.
11:51But Mariota, to your point, is a very experienced pro,
11:57just a good, solid journeyman backup quarterback who, as you noted,
12:02is capable of coming in and winning you games.
12:05You know, to me, I was invested in Washington to cover this past week.
12:09I saw a lot of value in that line as it plummeted from, what,
12:13seven and a half points to three and a half points?
12:16With the news that Jaden Daniels is not going to play, to me, massive overreaction against a very underwhelming Seattle team,
12:23especially, you know, or Vegas team, pardon me, especially defensively on the other side.
12:28You know, you're thinking about Pete Carroll, you immediately think of Seattle.
12:31This Vegas team, not great.
12:34And so Mariota was able to get them out there, torch them offensively.
12:38And I think that right now, as you said, you look ahead to this upcoming schedule for Washington,
12:44and sure, you'd like to win the division.
12:46It is Philadelphia's right now.
12:48It's 3-0 versus 2-1, and probably will belong to the Super Bowl champs by the end of the regular season as well.
12:55But Mariota, without a doubt, gives you a chance to at least stay alive in the fight.
13:00You know, this coming weekend, you have the Falcons.
13:03Will this team be a little bit desperate to respond to what just happened
13:07and everything we've been talking about with the poor play from Michael Penix
13:10and anyone feeling like jobs are on the line?
13:13Sure.
13:13Entirely possible, and it's in Atlanta as well.
13:16Still, I think Mariota out, you know, out there is going to be more than serviceable offensively,
13:22so it comes down to can your defense do its job?
13:25Are you going to win against the Chargers the following week, whether it's Mariota or Daniels?
13:30I'm not sure it really makes a difference the way that L.A. is going right now.
13:34This Chargers team is looking like a true bona fide contender
13:38and quite possibly a team that wins this AFC West, you know,
13:42first time the Chiefs haven't won it in nearly a decade if that comes to fruition.
13:46And then you keep going.
13:47Bears, Cowboys.
13:49Like, I'm not saying this is what they want,
13:51but you have a stretch here where if you really felt it would be beneficial to Jaden Daniels
13:56to kind of loosely shut him down,
13:59and I know they wouldn't use those terms.
14:01They'll go week to week for as long as possible,
14:03but if you wanted to internally have those conversations, Joe,
14:07about shutting this guy down for about a month,
14:09it's a very favorable time on the schedule to do it,
14:12and I think you'll be more than treading water with Mariota out there.
14:17I'll give you two quick ones here, Adam.
14:21You can give me a yes or no because the quarterback position in a lot of places,
14:26there are some question marks here.
14:28After what we just watched in Minnesota with Carson Wentz,
14:34obviously the more experienced quarterback stepped right in,
14:37didn't have to do a lot because the defense did the heavy lifting,
14:40but you know what?
14:41Getting the ball to the guys that matter is J.J. McCarthy.
14:46Is his job in trouble here?
14:48Does Minnesota say, you know what?
14:50Take your time.
14:51Let's go with Carson Wentz,
14:53and again, we'll see where it goes from here,
14:56or does he get inserted no matter what as soon as he's ready to go?
14:59The answer is both.
15:02I think they're okay with him taking his time,
15:05and the forecast for this injury was three, four weeks with his high ankle sprain,
15:09but it's his job when he's ready.
15:12They already sat him all of last year,
15:14didn't have a choice obviously with the injury,
15:15but he sat all of last year.
15:17This is a guy that was a high first-round pick that is your future,
15:22not the journeyman Carson Wentz who's been bouncing around the league
15:25since his time in Philadelphia.
15:26But right now, you could argue that Wentz is a bit of an upgrade
15:29on what we've seen from McCarthy,
15:32who has been flat-out bad in seven of his eight quarters.
15:35Still, when McCarthy is ready, it's his job.
15:38I would, without a doubt, if I am the Cincinnati Bengals,
15:44you have to get on the horn to Atlanta
15:47and see if you can figure out a way to get a trade involved here
15:54in some way, shape, or form here, because, my goodness,
15:59unless they're going to do something Atlanta where, I mean,
16:03they're already firing offensive coaches here,
16:06passing game coordinators, wide receiver coaches.
16:09So, unless that Cousins is going, they're planning on utilizing Cousins,
16:16Cincinnati has got to do something, because, I'm sorry,
16:19that was the worst loss in franchise history.
16:22It was embarrassing.
16:24You need a quarterback, and I don't know if Browning
16:26is going to get it done for you.
16:28All right, welcome back.
16:30In here, the early line, as we have now officially closed the books
16:34on week three of the NFL season, which means it's never too early
16:38to start talking about week four.
16:42And it begins on Thursday night, short week for both these teams.
16:47Big NFC West battle here between the Seattle Seahawks
16:51taking on the Arizona Cardinals.
16:54Arizona, of course, we know lost Connor, their big running back there.
16:59So, injuries affecting a lot of teams here through three weeks
17:05of the NFL season.
17:06But Seattle had no problem playing Georgia Tech over this weekend there.
17:12Adam, you and I covered that game on In Game Live on Sundays.
17:15And they did look like Georgia Tech uniforms there, New Orleans.
17:19But I think Georgia Tech might have gained a better game.
17:22But now they hit the road.
17:23They travel to Arizona, short week for both teams.
17:26I just don't like what I see from Arizona here.
17:31But I thought last week was a game they needed to have.
17:34It felt like this week was definitely a game that they are going to need to have
17:38of Seattle if we're going to take them serious.
17:41Yeah, I agree with you.
17:43I mean, I think the Seattle Seahawks, we know about the offensive firepower.
17:47Obviously, there were some questions going into that most recent game.
17:49Jackson Smith and Jigbo, what was the health going to be?
17:52He popped up late on the injury report with the illness, goes out, had a monumental first
17:58half, let alone an entire game.
18:00And Sam Darnold continues to lean on him.
18:03So I think that offense is in a pretty good place right now.
18:06I think we're seeing some inconsistency out of the Cardinals.
18:09Certainly, Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. are not on the same page.
18:12Trey McBride continues to look good.
18:14But he has for multiple years.
18:16And they still don't win.
18:18You know, it doesn't matter how many catches he has, how many targets, yards, all of it.
18:22He's still not helping this team ultimately win games, which, by the way, not an indictment
18:26of Trey McBride.
18:27It's just one guy is not everything.
18:30And this team has had so many issues defensively when it comes to, you know, sort of nut cutting
18:36time, if you will.
18:37You know, you have to find a way to win games.
18:40And they just can't quite get over the hump late in some of these contests.
18:44And now, you know, in this situation, the game that, as you said, come Thursday night
18:48is a virtual pick-em.
18:49I mean, in some places, it is a pick-em.
18:51In other places, looking at it here, the Cardinals are as much as a point-and-a-half favorite.
18:56You know, as I dig deeper into this game, I'll have, you know, maybe a more convincing,
19:04you know, lean toward it.
19:06Right now, I see some value in Seattle on the money line.
19:10You know, never mind with the points, obviously, when you're only talking about one-and-a-half.
19:14I realize one-point wins do happen.
19:16But I would rather just sort of take a flyer on Seattle there, write it even money, even
19:21plus money at some places, and see if the Seahawks can keep the winning ways going.
19:26Yeah.
19:26Again, usually when it comes to short weeks, I usually focus on the home teams if I like
19:33them.
19:33But what I've seen from Arizona doesn't lead me to like a whole lot of them.
19:38So that game is Thursday night, but we do have a big battle of 3-0 teams.
19:44Wow.
19:45One of these teams will register a loss, finally, between the Eagles and the Tampa Bay Bucs.
19:52Now, Tampa continuing to deal with a ton of injuries.
19:56They're hoping to get Werf's back at some point there on the offensive line.
20:00But they did what they had to do against the Jets.
20:03They got the win.
20:04Baker Mayfield is a gamer.
20:07Philadelphia, kind of the same thing I can make the argument where they've had to grind
20:12three wins out this year.
20:14Nothing has been easy for these two teams.
20:16Philly on the road in Tampa, 44-and-a-half.
20:19What do you think we're getting?
20:22So I guess I'll put it two ways, right?
20:24And like you said, we have six undefeated teams.
20:27Soon there will be five, if not fewer, by the end of week four.
20:30But I think the sensible pick is Philadelphia to win, to cover in this game.
20:36Clearly, it's the better team.
20:37It's the deeper team.
20:38I know there have been some issues on that, really, both sides of the ball.
20:42You know, I think a little bit of inconsistency in the defense.
20:44The offense is largely overwhelmed.
20:47Although, you know, hopefully we'll start to see more out of A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith and Dallas Goddard and all these guys as a unit.
20:55Not just one-off.
20:57Saquon is going to be Saquon.
20:58Hertz is going to be Hertz.
21:00I think Philadelphia does win this game.
21:02Now, all of that being said, Joe, if Philadelphia is leading this game by, let's say, six points or fewer,
21:10and Tampa gets the ball back with two minutes left,
21:12you better believe I'm putting some money on the Tampa Bay money line.
21:16Because this is a Baker Mayfield that just, you can't count him out.
21:21It's back-to-back weeks with game-winning drives late in these games to steal wins.
21:26This Buccaneers team, you know, sitting obviously at 3-0, absolutely could have that record, you know, reversed at this point in time.
21:34I mean, they have just stolen game after game.
21:37It's unbelievable.
21:38You know, the first week, a missed kick by Youngway Koo that got him released by Atlanta was the difference in that game not going to overtime.
21:47Kind of a lucky win there for Tampa.
21:49And then again, back-to-back drives in the final two minutes to come away with victories, you know, like wins stolen from the jaws of defeat.
21:58This Bucs team could be right there, you know, with the Saints that we were talking about at 0-3.
22:03Instead, obviously, they find themselves perfect, and sometimes that's the makeup of a gritty, special team, and sometimes it's dumb luck.
22:13I think there's been an element of dumb luck, and Philadelphia is going to hand that team its first loss.
22:19Yeah, it's rather be lucky than good, but, you know, you look at Philadelphia, Rams, you know, let's face it, that was a one-point win.
22:27Let's take the, you know, 500-pound bulldozer returning the block kick for a touchdown out.
22:34They were lucky to get that one done.
22:35Three-point win against Kansas City.
22:37Dallas was only a four-point win.
22:40So it's a lot of close games for Philly as well, and that starts to take its toll on, I think, both these teams as this season progresses.
22:50But that should be a fantastic game.
22:53And then you've got to have a big question about, are we talking about Daniel Jones as a MVP candidate?
23:00Well, I'll tell you what, if he goes to the Rams this week and does what he has done in the first three games he's played,
23:08yeah, we're going to have a different conversation about Daniel Jones the rest of the way here,
23:12because one game may be a fluke, two games, all right, let's give me a break.
23:17But three games now, and if he does it against these Rams, but the question is, can he do it against the Rams?
23:24It's funny.
23:25I was just looking at the odds to see if he was there for comeback player of the year anywhere,
23:29and I don't even see him listed.
23:32So I guess he doesn't, you know, meet the standard.
23:35You know, I just, I don't know.
23:36There's a narrative there in getting benched and missing time toward the end of the year
23:41and just sort of being cast aside.
23:43But no, I mean, Christopher McCaffrey is probably going to run away with that award if he can stay healthy.
23:48Daniel Jones, he's not going to get my MVP vote, not that I have an MVP vote, but if I did, Joe.
23:54But he has certainly, you know, made this conversation very interesting as to whether we take the Colts seriously.
24:02And by that, I don't mean as a potential division winner.
24:05I think going into the year, there were some people that said, I'm not sold on the Texans.
24:10I could see the Jaguars.
24:12I could see the Colts potentially steal in this division.
24:15So that wasn't out of the realm of possibility, even though obviously you could get a good number on it.
24:19But nobody would have viewed any of those three teams as a Super Bowl contender.
24:25And Indianapolis right now is looking like a team that is capable of making a long playoff run.
24:30We were talking about it over the weekend.
24:32They've rarely punted this season.
24:34More often than not, these drives are ending in points, whether it's touchdowns or field goals.
24:40The defense, you know, I suppose has some question marks and we'll see that play itself out over the course of the year.
24:45But what Daniel Jones, especially Jonathan Taylor, certainly Michael Pittman Jr., among others there in that offense, they have looked borderline incredible compared to expectation.
24:58You know, these are not your typical household Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey type names.
25:05You know, all due respect to Michael Pittman, who's been, you know, a good receiver in the league for a long time.
25:11But and Jonathan Taylor, obviously one of the premier running backs.
25:14But this is a grouping that just people didn't see this realistically and what they've done.
25:20It's been impressive.
25:20But like you said, you beat the Rams.
25:23That's real noise.
25:24You lose to the Rams.
25:25People are going to maybe pump the brakes a little bit.
25:28Yeah, well, we're going to again, great litmus test coming up in this week four of the NFL season.
25:35A lot of teams, in fact, what kind of response are we going to get?
25:41We're going to talk about a couple of more of these week four matchups.
25:45Preview the mouth.
25:46See if we like any edges as the early line continues on the grid.
25:50All right, welcome back in here.
25:52The early line on the Sports Grid Network as we are getting ourselves ready and looking ahead to week four of the NFL season.
26:01Now that week three is behind us.
26:04I'm Joe Ranieri.
26:04He is Adam Kaufman.
26:06And the big question marks coming up this week, Adam, are going to be about, well, how do teams respond to what just happened here in week three?
26:15And if you look at what happened last night to the Ravens, yeesh, hello, defense, do you have any?
26:23Apparently they don't.
26:25And it's a concern here.
26:27Now it's a short week.
26:28And now they got to take on the Kansas City Chiefs, who were able to Sunday night finally get off the schneid there, get their first win of the season.
26:38But the Ravens have to go to Arrowhead with a lot of questions and red flags.
26:43So what's going on here?
26:45Should they be the favorite on the road against Kansas City?
26:50Boy, good question.
26:52I think ultimately, I'm frozen in thought because I want to say it should be a little closer to a pick-em.
27:01Doesn't it feel like it should be just a bit closer?
27:03Like three feels like a big number.
27:05Even if you want to say, yeah, Baltimore should be a favorite.
27:08Feels like point, point and a half.
27:11If it doesn't, three, to take them, because remember, this game, like you said, is in Kansas City.
27:16So if that were in Baltimore, effectively the odds makers are telling you the Ravens would be, you know, six, even seven point favorites.
27:23If, you know, we look at it the way that we have in recent years.
27:27And that, to me, doesn't make a lick of sense off of what we've seen lately.
27:30I realize that the Chiefs have underwhelmed, especially offensively.
27:35I mean, even against an atrocious Giants defense in prime time, they still struggle to put up points.
27:41It's a Ravens team that has no issue putting up points.
27:44But defensively, as we've talked about extensively on this show, they can't stop a nosebleed.
27:49And so, I don't know.
27:50The line doesn't feel right to me.
27:52I see value in Kansas City, a team that should still, both these teams, one and two, are going to have an element of desperation.
28:01I just think that if this means anything, you know, both these teams by the end are likely there in playoff spots in one form or another.
28:09I just think, right now, Kansas City is the team that should be wondering, boy, are we going to win this division?
28:15This Chargers team looks legitimate.
28:18This Chargers team, offensively and defensively, looks scary.
28:22Special teams, all of it.
28:23This team is getting the job done right now.
28:26We should feel threatened.
28:27We need to go out and take this win and narrow this gap a little bit.
28:31The Ravens over in the AFC North sucks.
28:35It's a terrible division.
28:36I mean, I'm just pulling it up now.
28:39The Bengals, again, are 2-1.
28:43How long are they going to survive, as you mentioned earlier, with Jake Browning?
28:47Because we know Joe Burrow is out for an extensive period of time.
28:50And even if it is not the Browning factor or a trade for a Kirk Cousins or somebody else, you've got all sorts of issues with your defense.
28:59That defense is not going anywhere unless it finds a way to improve rather rapidly.
29:03And Pittsburgh, I realize 2-1, but that is absolutely, it could be 0-3.
29:09You know, you steal one from the Jets in Week 1.
29:11This past game against the Patriots that you won by a touchdown, you did so a game in which the Patriots turned the ball over five times, including twice in the red zone inside the five-yard line.
29:21That is a game that the Pats absolutely gave away.
29:25And so, this Steelers team, I've been saying for a while, I think Pittsburgh is going to, this is the year the Mike Tomlin streak ends and it's not a winning season.
29:33They win 7-8.
29:34They miss the playoffs.
29:36The Ravens are going to go on their run at some point.
29:38And they are going to overtake these teams and they are going to win this division.
29:41The path is not as clear in a competitive AFC West, especially if you believe that the Broncos are still to be taken seriously.
29:49So, I'm going to lean into KC and the desperation and take Kansas City with the points and even say that the Chiefs are alive to win this game.
29:57Chiefs at home has been, not once now, but twice in a season, has been an underdog.
30:03I haven't seen that in a very, very long time.
30:06We'll see what they can do there.
30:08And then the Cowboys are back home and the Packers, after just giving the game away to the Browns, got to go back on the road and take on, well, two teams coming off of embarrassing losses.
30:21What are we going to get with the Packers and the Cowboys?
30:24No CeeDee Lamb here.
30:26I would like to see a response out of Green Bay.
30:30I mean, you can't implode.
30:31You can't fall apart the way you did in the final four minutes there against the Cleveland Browns.
30:37Fine, you allow a field goal.
30:39But to then a touchdown and then get a potential game-winning kick blocked and that is taken back to field goal range and you walk it off again just to fall apart against such an inferior team, a team that you were favored by, two scores against, and to lose outright.
30:55And so, now it's a bad team, bad defense, and like you said, down its best offensive weapon in CeeDee Lamb.
31:01I know it's not easy to win in Dallas, obviously, but I think you're getting the Cowboys at the right time and you're getting a little extra anger and urgency out of the Packers.
31:09I like Green Bay to not only win, I would say take the points as well.
31:12Lay it.
31:12Yeah, and I mean, I'm never a fan of laying a touchdown with a road team here, but I'm not even sure with that Packer defense.
31:23Are we expecting the Cowboys to have enough points to even come close to this thing up and over, or are we looking at maybe just another team total under because they don't look very good even offensively right now?
31:35No, and that may be what it is, and I haven't pulled up what the team total under is for the Cowboys, but yeah, if you're getting, let's call it, I don't know, 18 and a half, 19 and a half, and you can go under that number, I think that makes a lot of sense.
31:50Yeah, they were actually, Green Bay is a bigger favorite in this game than they were in the look-ahead markets here because they had them at about a three and a half point favorite.
32:02Now we're talking almost a touchdown favorite based upon what we've seen from the Cowboys here, and quite honestly, whose idea was it to schedule the Jets and Dolphins on a Monday night?
32:15The battle of 0-3 teams is what we're getting on Monday night.
32:20The good news is I believe there's a second Monday night game again here.
32:24Even worse, though, we've got to watch Jake Browning throw the ball to the Bronco defenders at least two or three times in a game.
32:31Talk about an opportunity to bounce back here.
32:35Both the Broncos need a win.
32:37They got to get something going here, and the Bengals started off 2-0, and it has not been good since.
32:45No Joe Brorrow, nobody walking through that door to save them.
32:50This is going to be a bigger game.
32:52We'll have to deal with the Jets and Dolphins, the battle of winless teams on Monday night,
32:58but at least we get the Broncos and the Bengals, and both those teams need a win in a big way.
33:04Speaking of wins, we'll have a couple of best bets for today's card.
33:09We'll do that as the early line continues on The Grid.
33:12We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:13We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:14We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:15We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:16We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:17We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:18We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:19We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:20We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:21We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:22We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:23We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:24We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:25We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:26We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:27We'll do that as the end of the year.
33:28We'll do that as the end of the year.
