00:00But you got a couple of games coming up this weekend that we've got to what we're going to find out.
00:06I think first and foremost, if Drake may is the real deal, because no offense to the Titans and some of these other schleps that they've beaten here.
00:15It's the this is a real defense. He's about to face this week with New England.
00:20I don't know if I'm ready to lay more than a touchdown with New England just yet.
00:23But how are you looking at this? So really interesting game, because to this point in the season, the Pats really haven't like they've played the Bills.
00:33But we all talk about the Bills defense not being good. They play the Raiders, put the Dolphins, play the Titans, to your point.
00:37They haven't really had a tough schedule. I will say Drake may have some fantastic underlying metrics.
00:43So the point becomes is what are we buying into these underlying metrics, the strength, the schedule, this, that, the other thing.
00:48Right now, he's second in the league in EPA per play. He's number one in the league when it comes to CPOA, which is completion percentage over expectation.
00:56They're going up against the Browns. I would absolutely not lay the points with the Pats this week.
01:00The Browns defense is fantastic, specifically from a running perspective.
01:04Ramondre Stevenson is terrible. Travion Henderson, their rookie, I have high hopes for.
01:08They're just not giving him the ball. So when you're giving up fewer than 100 yards on the ground, that defense is fantastic.
01:13I like Drake may when it comes to over 19 and a half completions.
01:17I think that this is a game where they want to simply move the chains, pick up first downs, short completions.
01:22Don't let him take seven step drops and have to deal with that pass rush.
01:27Quick completions to pick up first downs, and they will win this game, but they won't cover.
01:32You know, Tom, you bring up some good points in that game, too, because you're looking at this weekend's games,
01:36and we always talk about, like, hey, it looks like a perfect teaser game.
01:39There are a lot of good teaser games this weekend with these touchdown spreads,
01:42but sometimes the NFL, really hard to predict at that point.
01:45But I like the fashion that we're seeing for New England on that soft schedule that they have.
01:49We talked about a couple weeks ago.
01:51They're rolling right through it.
01:52Three straight road victories as they head home.
01:53Let's see how that game turns out.
01:55Next game we'll talk about.
01:56One team's definitely giving up on the season.
01:58The coach can't stand his quarterback, it looks like.
02:00The quarterback can't stand anybody else, even though he loves to get paid.
02:03And this team just didn't show up, includes last week, against the Cleveland Browns.
02:06What team is that we're talking about?
02:07It's the Miami Dolphins.
02:08They're going to take on the Atlanta Falcons.
02:10I have two questions for you, Tom.
02:11I do think Atlanta wins this game.
02:13Bichon can run wild.
02:14Some wide receivers can catch passes.
02:16But who are we actually going to get at quarterback?
02:18Maybe Kirk Cousins could come in if Penix is there.
02:21And also, does that make a difference on where you're looking to bet in this game?
02:25So, it's tough.
02:27There's no doubt about it.
02:28A part of me wants to delay the seven and a half with the Falcons,
02:32just knowing the turnover propensity from Tua.
02:34And that can lead you to short fields and or pick sixes,
02:37which will give you a cover before you know it.
02:39Whether it's Penix, whether it's going to be Kirk Cousins,
02:42the answer is going to be Drake London.
02:43This is a spot that he really needs to bounce back.
02:46You know, when we're looking at the offense last week,
02:48you know, Bichon was okay.
02:50They just didn't do things properly.
02:52I think he runs wild this week.
02:53He goes for over 100 and five.
02:54But getting the ball to your best receiver, getting that started,
02:57something that they absolutely need to see.
02:59I like him when it comes to his receiving prop this week.
03:02Was it sitting at 53 and a half, 56 and a half, whatever is over that.
03:05That's where I'm going to be looking.
03:06The defense for Miami is terrible.
03:08And even if it's Kirk Cousins,
03:09I actually would prefer that in a certain capacity.
03:11Just really simple, operate the offense, move it down the field,
03:14get back on track at home because the Falcons defense is pretty darn solid,
03:18but the offense just can't keep up with them.
03:21Yeah.
03:23Feels like it feels like maybe a point.
03:27Points are coming for Atlanta in this one.
03:29Doesn't it feel like that against that defense?
03:31It just feels like if they have a chance to kind of put it on,
03:35Miami, they're going to.
03:37It's such a low total though.
03:39But it just feels like Atlanta is the side that I want to back for team
03:43totals in that one.
03:44No, it does.
03:46And again, if you'd like them to put up the points,
03:49I'm not sure if it matters if it's Penix or Cousins.
03:52If you're trusting in Bijan,
03:54you're trusting in Drake London and Kyle Pitts.
03:56And you're saying, hey,
03:56maybe the defense can step in.
03:58Then we're really going to be pushing over that number.
04:00Tom, let me ask you a question about an intriguing game this weekend
04:04because it's intriguing because Baltimore has a terrible record.
04:07They have a lot of talent on that football team that has been really
04:10injured over the past couple of weeks.
04:11It looks like they're getting healthier by the minute,
04:14but I see a six and a half point spread in the total of 49 and a half.
04:17How do you approach the Baltimore Ravens?
04:19No, when they're really gassed up on offense, they can score.
04:22They're getting some players back.
04:24Is it approachable?
04:25Is it a dog game?
04:25Is it a Baltimore game?
04:26A part of me wants to simply stay away and do nothing with this game.
04:30Looking at Lamar's props, his rushings are in the 20,
04:33his passing sub 200.
04:35I will say, if you believe in the Ravens,
04:40I think you've got to be ahead of the curve, right?
04:42And if you're not, and if you don't believe in the Ravens,
04:43you're just going to be taking points every week.
04:45But if you do believe in the Ravens, you know,
04:47this wouldn't be a seven or a six and a half line if they were fully healthy.
04:49This would be over seven points.
04:51So if you think that this is their turning point for the season,
04:53you're going to take six and a half points anytime you can get it.
04:55And then next week you have to be willing to take the three and a half
04:58or whatever it's going to be because they're going to be fully healthy.
05:00They're going to cover three and a half points.
05:02I don't care that's past the key number.
05:04So if you believe in the Ravens, you have to be on them this week
05:06and you have to be willing to stick through it.
05:07And if not, just take the points on the other side every week.
05:11Yeah.
05:11Kyle Hamilton back, Roquan Smith back on that defense.
05:14That should change some things.
05:15Tom, quick thoughts on the World Series game number one tonight.
05:17What do you think?
05:19It goes over.
05:20I like the series over five and a half games.
05:22And the Blue Jays have to get one of the first two games at home.
05:25If they want to compete in the series, have to get game one or two.
05:28Look at Tom reading my mind right now and everything he just said there.
05:32Great segment here as we set up for a football Friday weekend.
05:36Woo.
05:37Look at that right there.
05:38Some bye, bye, bye already at this point.
05:40Thanks Tom for joining us.
05:41I don't know what's going on in the background,
05:43but it's mayhem on a Friday, baby.
05:45Sometimes you look at these quarterbacks and they're trying to feel their way around,
05:49particularly the younger guys.
05:50I can see Dylan Gabriel there.
05:51We don't know what you do or Sanders is going to get in.
05:53Drake may also still a young quarterback in the NFL,
05:55but the one that got drafted number one overall last year,
05:59boys having a time of it down there in Tennessee.
06:01And that's Cam Ward.
06:02And here's Cam Ward reacting to some of the play calls.
06:05Yeah, see that?
06:13Leave me right up here.
06:14You want me to answer for Cam Ward?
06:15Look, the playbook stinks, but my player's even worse.
06:18Here's Cam talking about the play calling now.
06:22Ymo.
06:23Let's just do this one.
06:24Let's go gun, doce, right, closer, Z-top, fire, six, J, real, boom, F-ship,
06:28H-burst on the turn.
06:30No chance.
06:31No chance.
06:32No chance.
06:33No chance.
06:34I'll give you these ones.
06:35This is a base game plan right here.
06:38This is a base game plan.
06:39Gun Jim right back from 2J Costco white basin.
06:42No chance.
06:43Yeah.
06:43Come on, ball.
06:44He's got to set that.
06:45Look, I like Cam Ward.
06:48He's very personable.
06:49He's in a bad situation right now.
06:51But the one thing I always envied are that the play calls really have to be
06:55that long, and quarterbacks seem like they have to be an absolute Einstein
06:59just to remember the play call itself, even being in high school and college.
07:03Like, you know, high school, a little bit more remedial than college is.
07:05But some of those play calls will come in where, me as a wide receiver,
07:08I knew the play.
07:09But just watching the quarterback have to repeat that twice in the huddle
07:13and then try to remember it, always baffled, man.
07:15I'm telling you, we always think, like, dumb football players.
07:18Those play calls are so insanely long.
07:21Just reciting them back makes it tough.
07:24Yeah.
07:25And then imagine the audibles that are mixed into it, too, as well.
07:29So not good.
07:30But, you know, it's, again, you know, he's the one.
07:33He's the QB.
07:33So he's laying it out there.
07:34But every part of that play call speaks to somebody in that huddle, Donnie.
07:40That's how crazy it is.
07:41And if you're in that huddle, you've got to know which part applies to you.
07:44So it's a very interesting system, to say the least.
07:48And then also, understand this, too.
07:50Like, it's the audibles are crazy and what the defense throws at you.
07:54But NFL teams at times, they call two plays in the huddle,
07:58then get up to the line to decide which play they want.
08:00I'm telling you right now, it's amazing that, like, even me, like,
08:03I was the outside, you know, the X and the Z wide receiver,
08:07the most outside guys.
08:08And then we have the Y, which would be the guy that plays the slot,
08:11which was me.
08:11So I would start the game on the outside.
08:12We went through three wide receiver sets.
08:14I would move to the inside.
08:16And the thing that always got me the most, Joe, is the motion,
08:19where we would have called, like, over-off,
08:21which would cancel out which side you have to be on.
08:24It used to be a math equation.
08:25We'd be like, okay, ready, break.
08:26And in my head, I'm like, what am I doing here?
08:28What am I doing here?
08:28Am I starting on the left or the right?
08:29Am I coming back from the right to the left?
08:31It is insane what you have to remember to get it right.
08:33And then there's the least problems of all.
08:35It's the snap count where, I'm telling you, man,
08:37just call it on one every play.
08:38Don't have us dealing with two and three and all this stuff
08:41because we're going to be all sides.
08:42But what they have to actually verbalize before the play even starts,
08:46absolutely incredible stuff here.
08:47Now, here is Love talking about Rodgers.
08:50And, again, this is a big week here because it's Green Bay.
08:53It's going to be the Steelers.
08:54And here's Jordan Love paying homage.
08:55Here's Darren Rodgers.
08:57Jordan, when you got here, Aaron said before that he kind of saw the writing
09:02on the wall for his time here.
09:03How was he behind closed doors with you during those three years?
09:08Yeah, no, Aaron was great.
09:10You know, I think anytime just being in the quarterback room, you know,
09:14you want to have a great relationship with everybody in the room.
09:16I think just to, you know, make it a fun environment for what you're going to be
09:19in every day.
09:20So, you know, I think coming into it, obviously I never knew what to expect.
09:24But, you know, I think Aaron was great to me all three years.
09:27And I think, really, everybody else in that quarterback room with us, my time,
09:32you know, has been great.
09:32We've got no issues.
09:34It's been just a great room to be a part of.
09:37You've got to be comfortable in your own skin to end up training your
09:39replacement.
09:40Most people aren't confident enough to do that.
09:42And, by the way, asking that question in Green Bay is always relevant because
09:45Aaron Rodgers will tell you Brett Favre didn't share anything with him
09:49whatsoever, didn't want him around, didn't want him taking his job.
09:53So, kudos at least to Aaron Rodgers, who we always think is an interesting
09:55fellow, not turning his back on a rookie going, like, I'm not telling you how to
09:59pick up that blitz because if you do it, you do it better than me, you're
10:01taking my job.
10:02So, at least there's that.
10:04Yeah, well, there is always that because he's right.
10:07He did not experience that with Brett Favre at all.
10:10But, you know, that was a different era in football here.
10:13But maybe the writing was on the wall for Aaron and he kind of knew it there.
10:18So, but kudos to him for passing it down there.
10:21And, listen, nobody thought Jordan Love was going to be good enough to be
10:25a starting quarterback anyway.
10:27Everyone thought the minute they made the move that it might have been the
10:30worst move in franchise history.
10:32But now this is how many decades in a row, Donnie?
10:35That's three franchise quarterbacks in a row that the Green Bay Packers
10:40organization has nailed.
10:42And nobody else can seem to get that right.
10:45You are nothing without a quarterback.
10:47And certainly people, oh, I can't believe they're doing that here.
10:49Same thing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
10:50Oh, we got a franchise guy in Carson Wentz.
10:52That's Jalen Hurts is still on the board.
10:54Let's take him.
10:55How did that turn out?
10:56Wentz leaves town here.
10:57Super Bowl champion Jalen Hurts multiple times in the Super Bowl and an MVP in the Super Bowl.
11:01You can't have enough good quarterbacks on your roster here, which at least one healthy
11:05quarterback in this next game might be all you need for the Baltimore Ravens.
11:09Not just getting Lamar Jackson under center.
11:11Calm, relax.
11:13We can start our season now after burying ourselves over the first quarter of the season.
11:17Favorites are the Ravens at six and a half here.
11:19We're still not sure if Baltimore is going to see their superstar signal caller under center,
11:24but it's setting up that way with limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday.
11:27From the Friday practice report, Joe, that'll tell us everything we need to know.
11:32Yeah, I would most likely say that he is playing, but it doesn't matter either because we mentioned
11:38it yesterday.
11:39The market, even with him being out on the practice field, has not budged.
11:44In fact, the line moved the other way at times during the last 48 hours.
11:50So it's kind of hilarious to me that here we are.
11:53All right, we're going to get Lamar back.
11:55And well, OK, but the line is still six, six and a half here.
12:00Yeah, the books are not moving at the seven.
12:03What has moved, though, Tony, is the is the total.
12:06So the feeling is that if he is playing, we're probably getting some points in this game at
12:11some somewhere along the line.
12:13Talking about getting the points here.
12:15It's the New York Giants.
12:16Why are they getting points?
12:17They just roasted the Philadelphia Eagles.
12:18And I'll tell you, if they hung on against the Denver Broncos, how about just play to
12:21complete fourth quarter and shut the Broncos out 19 to nothing?
12:24What this spread would look like?
12:25Jackson Dart back in town looking to beat the Philadelphia Eagles for a second time in
12:29a season.
12:30That never happens.
12:31A.J. Brown might be damaged goods, but the Eagles still sit here, Joe, on a seven and a
12:35half point favorite and a total that rose from 40 and a half up to 43 and a half.
12:39Dart and the boys on the road showing life.
12:42Who gets this win?
12:43But also, more importantly, Joe, who gets that cover?
12:46Yeah, the problem that I have with this game here is and we see it a lot is that that defeat
12:53and I so wish that the Giants had won that game, but them not winning the game and the
12:59way that they lost the game, that sometimes carries over, Donnie, unless you have a really,
13:04really good coach that can, you know, refocus everybody.
13:09They're replaying that game in their head a lot here, which is worrisome, given the fact
13:14that they just beat this team a couple of weeks ago.
13:17I don't know that I have all the confidence in Dable to be able to game plan and be able
13:21to repeat this.
13:22I do like the Overdome.
13:24I think points are coming in this game in a big, big way.
13:28Yeah.
13:28And the Eagles went on the road and beat Minnesota, which is always hard to win on the road as
13:31is.
13:31But how good is that Minnesota team actually when we saw them get pasted last night by
13:35the Chargers?
13:36I do think the Giants stay within that number.
13:38Dallas and Denver.
13:39Denver had a massive comeback last week in elevation.
13:42They stay home this week on the take on the Dallas Cowboys.
13:44By the way, Cowboys firing on all cylinders on offense.
13:48And CeeDee Lamb is back.
13:49This total, Joe, up from 47 and a half to 50 and a half points, but still a favorite
13:54for Denver hanging in there over a field goal.
13:57Yeah, this is going to be interesting here.
14:00The Cowboys defense versus this Denver offense.
14:04Denver cannot take two, three quarters off in this game and expect to be able to come back.
14:09So I do like the Broncos at home here.
14:13I think Dallas's defense, it'll rear its ugly head again.
14:17And I absolutely think the Denver defense will be able to handle business here.
14:22So I would tend to lean with the home team.
14:26Do we get explosive plays on Sunday Night Football?
14:29Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, they go side to side with a lot of quick passes
14:33here.
14:33Two good defenses teeing it up, including a lot of really good pass rushers.
14:37A total of 45 and a half and a favorite here for Green Bay on the road at minus three.
14:41Do you believe they should be the dog in this game, the Pittsburgh Steelers?
14:45Yes, they should.
14:46And the problem for Pittsburgh is this defense, Donnie.
14:49And the prize, they just, unless they blitz, they're not having a great way to get to the
14:56quarterback.
14:57And I think that could lead to a lot of points in this game.
14:59And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:00And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:01And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:01And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:02And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:03And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:04And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:05And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:06And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:07And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:08And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:09And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:10And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
15:11And I think that's a lot of points in this game.
