00:00My name's Richard Snowble. People generally call me Snow or Snowby One Kenobi because I'm a big
00:19Star Wars nut. I've been part of this flow group for about three years, three years now give or
00:25take nearly four years. That's the great that's the great thing about it because it's like it's
00:29uniqueness. It draws people in. People walk by and say oh what they're doing over there and they come
00:34over they have a conversation with a lot of us and half the time they end up joining the group to
00:39learn these things as well. It's kind of the best way to put it is like circus performance.
00:43So we're all learning different skills but it uses your mind and body as well to perform it. So the
00:50better you get the more you can move. It helps you limbo up. It's great for your mental health. It's
00:55been absolutely brilliant for my mental health as well because I suffer from anxiety and depression
00:59and since joining this group I have gotten so much better over the last few years because I do this
01:05every week. It's great for socialising, it's great for meeting new people and it's great for just
01:10trying to get out about a bit more so you're not locked up inside because I know at least once a
01:15week I get to go out and do this. Okay so I am Georgie, short for Georgiana but I just go by Georgie.
01:22I sometimes go by Flit, it's like a pseudonym I use for performance work and I am a philosopher
01:29performer I guess. I am doing, currently doing a PhD. I spin fire because I love it. It is
01:36um I just love flow. It's like a way to express myself. I can, I just feel like myself when I'm
01:44spinning and whatever emotion you're going through you can always just work through it.
01:47I know some people use it as like therapy and stuff and I don't really use it for that. It's
01:52more that this is like a dance or like singing or it's great for like self-esteem stuff and there
01:57are studies on that as well. So I, I've spun fire for a long time obviously and I was down
02:05hot walls by, by the hard or whatever and I just saw some people with fire equipment and I was like,
02:12oh my god friends, family, like ran over, introduced myself, got their number and like was like right
02:18next Wednesday I'll be here and that was in like I think it was in one of the lifts between lockdowns
02:23uh because I was on one of like you know you know they get late to go for walks and stuff so I went
02:28for a walk found people I was like oh my god fire spinners I found fire spinners like I've like
02:32it's like finding family it really is and you come out and yeah. Hi I'm Kitty um I've recently moved back to
02:39Portsmouth I spent 10 years on the Isle of Wight um moved back because I fell in love and I've been
02:45suffering for about 15 years with not only anxiety and depression but agoraphobia so for me I struggled
02:55to get out of the house it was being out and about with people that I found really really stressful
02:59but since coming to the spin group I kind of found my people a lot of them are neurodivergent like I am
03:07they'd have like autism ADHD and I wouldn't feel pressurised to like talk to people or to try and
03:16be something that I'm not it's one of those things that I found good for my mental health because you
03:22kind of shut off that part of your brain that overthinks and I found it really good for my body
03:28it's really hard to describe to people because obviously I first came along to hang out with snow
03:34to hang out with people who would just be like yeah you can come and get out of the house and sit here
03:38but because it's such a good environment and it's a really chill and you know happy group of people
03:45they're all just so friendly and happy you know I just why wouldn't you want to come here
03:49you
