Lena Hill makes her debut with LPOS Musical Productions as they take to the stage with Hello, Dolly! the closing show of the company’s 70th anniversary year.

00:06speak to lena hill this morning now lena this is a bit of an ambition you are playing dolly

00:11in hello dolly for little hamptons alpos um yes coming up mid-october it's a role that you've

00:19long wanted to play why why has it been on that list i think because dolly has got so many sides

00:26to her she's uh she's a forceful um forthright person but she's also extremely caring um she's

00:35very funny sometimes without even realizing it um she's um hopefully endearing and uh she's just a

00:44force to be reckoned with but in a positive way i think um yeah so and also the songs are just so

00:50wonderful you can't help but get excited about singing those songs because they're just so

00:57uplifting and yeah there's there's lots about it and obviously all that adds the pressure doesn't

01:04it because it's a massive role as well isn't it it is a big role and i think that's probably

01:08the biggest challenge really um is all the words i know there's uh obviously every script has a lot

01:16of words but uh i think in particular dolly says an awful lot uh in a very short space of time

01:24um sometimes hardly coming up for air and it doesn't always necessarily lead on from what

01:30someone else has said you know she's got a lot to say um but it's worth it's worth listening because

01:37she comes up with some absolute gems at times so it's it's a great script it really is it's really

01:43loving it because as you say the whole show is just so uplifting isn't it it is and and we really

01:49need that at the moment don't we so you know i i would defy anybody to to leave the um auditorium

01:56and not feel uh much better hopefully than when they came in because uh yeah it's it's the musical

02:03numbers it's the color it's the humor there's so much good humor and i have to say the cast are

02:09fantastic i think they're all very well cast and um yeah and and they're a joy to work with

02:16yeah and your first time with this company yeah i'm a newcomer to them and i have to say they've

02:21been extremely welcoming uh which is great to hear and that's what they encourage elpos really

02:27encourage that fantastic well it sounds like it's going to go brilliantly lovely if you take up

02:32something off that list absolutely with it thank you thank you thank you very much
