16 September - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Morning. Things a lot calmer out there today compared to yesterday, but there's more wet and windy weather to come tonight.
00:06For more on that and the full details of this week's weather, you can check out Aidan's week ahead video from yesterday.
00:12But for the details for today, we're looking at this zone of cloudier weather coming into northern England, southwest Scotland,
00:18bringing some showers across the north coast of Northern Ireland this morning, clearing from here,
00:22but we'll see a few showers developing over to the east of the Pennines, I suspect, by this afternoon.
00:27One or two scattered showers for Wales and southwest England, and some showers coming into northern Scotland,
00:32but much of eastern Scotland and much of central and eastern England will be dry and fine today with some sunshine.
00:38The wind's a lot lighter than yesterday as well, and with the help of a bit of sunshine, that will make it feel a little warmer.
00:4519, maybe 20 degrees across the southeast, generally 16, 17, 18, so about average for the time of year.
00:51But as I mentioned, more wet and windy weather is on the way.
00:55Things clouding over this afternoon for south Wales, southwest England.
00:58Rain edging in here through the evening rush hour, and that rain spreads to most of Wales and northern Ireland before midnight.
01:05Some heavy outbreaks as well, particularly for Wales and northern England through the early hours.
01:10The brighter colours in there.
01:12Northern Scotland may stay largely dry, and as the winds ease, we could see those temperatures again dipping down into single digits.
01:18But for most, as the wet and windy weather moves in, it will actually turn mild through the night as we start Wednesday morning, 13, 14 degrees along the south coast.
01:28We are going to start tomorrow morning with a lot of rain around as well.
01:32Heaviest burst for parts of Wales, the Midlands, northern England should start to clear for many as well.
01:38And after a damp start, we may not see too much rain across the far southeast of England.
01:43But there will be this zone of damp weather over parts of the Midlands, Wales and southwest England just stays fairly damp here all day.
01:51Northern Scotland sees that rain moving in.
01:52But southern Scotland, northern Ireland, northern England should turn a bit brighter as we go through the course of the day with some sunny spells coming in.
02:00And actually turning a bit warmer as well.
02:03You may not feel it if you've got the thick cloud, the rain and the winds.
02:06But temperatures are going to be higher through tomorrow, 19, 20, 21, 22, possible in the east where we do see some sunshine coming through.
02:14But as I say, for many, you don't really notice that because of the wind and the rain.
02:18That next area of low pressure then kind of lingers around.
02:21And this wiggling, waving weather front, well, that's giving us a few headaches for the end of the week.
02:28Always some uncertainty when we have these waves around as to where we'll see the rain.
02:32But they are going to generate some rain across the UK.
02:35And that has the potential to cause a bit of issue, a bit of disruption just because it has been so wet recently.
02:41As I say, for more details on that, you can watch Aidan's full week ahead video.
02:46And we'll have more on that, obviously, as we get closer to the time.
02:50So do stay tuned.
02:51And one way to do that, of course, is to hit subscribe to our YouTube channel.
