02:12Hello designers
02:14As all-stars you all know that project runaway has a lot of fans so we've asked the fans to take part in the first
02:24Interactive challenge ever
02:26Wow
02:28So joanna coles is waiting for you in the workroom to explain everything and i'll see you back here tomorrow for the runway
02:35good luck
02:36Thank you
02:47I want to introduce you to sandra music who is the senior vice president of
02:53marketing for usa today one of the nation's leading news organizations so at usa today
03:01we pioneered visual storytelling and infographics and we continue to be at the forefront of clear and concise
03:08visually driven storytelling and journalism and in publishing we have a saying
03:14every picture tells a story so that's the theme of this week's challenge
03:19we went out to all your fans and asked them to tweet us
03:27inspiring pictures we received thousands and your job is to take one of those pictures and turn it into a
03:37fashion design perfect for the runway
03:40It's an interactive collaboration so i think this challenge is going to be a really intriguing
03:48and interesting challenge it's really amazing that the fans are getting involved with this
03:52because i know how much this means to them so hopefully i can make the fans proud think about
03:57what is the headline that you want to communicate with your look
04:00so two desktop computers courtesy of hp have been set up in the lounge for you emilio congratulations
04:10you won last week's challenge thank you so you get to pick who you would like to select a photo with you
04:17first i'm going to pick casanova
04:19casanova doesn't have ulterior motives he's open to everyone he likes everyone but before you get
04:28started sandra has a surprise for you the winning designer and look will be featured with a photograph
04:37and an editorial piece in usa today that's a good surprise fantastic good luck i'm really hoping
04:45that i win this one because the prize is amazing it'll be on every doorstep right under your door
04:50in your hotel and also online it's an enormous for a young designer good luck designers see you later
05:03i came upon sophie from california i'm choosing this picture because i have nieces her age and that's an
05:10innocence that i think we lose in fashion okay i already have mine it's for me a fusion in between
05:18feminine and masculine at the same time that's kind of cool
05:26ivy next althea next
05:33well it's from the uk and it looks like a train station to me so that really spoke to me it's just
05:38the colors and the shape and it's reminding me of when my husband proposed to me in a train station
05:45i decide to choose this photo because i believe a butterfly represents evolution and change
05:50i try every day to grow as a person okay
05:58what i love about this picture is that it is all vintage jewelry so the picture that i
06:04choose is shot out of an airplane and you see the clouds and the sun and the blue sky it makes me
06:10feel free and peaceful joshua anthony ryan thank you so i'm looking around like what the hell nobody
06:20likes me here or people are thinking like oh she has everything let's not give her anything else seems
06:25like everyone that's left here she's offended in one way or another are you having a mean streak ivy how
06:31am i being mean you were just laughing i can't laugh if it's something that's not funny yep they
06:38want me to like talk to them like we came from the same place it's not gonna happen laura i choose you
06:49i come across this picture from deborah from alabama and she has this rather forlorn look on her face
06:55and i thought you look so sad and i thought boy i'm kind of sad too because i'm you know the last
07:01picked again let's go sketchy sketchy sketchy
07:10so this is my picture it really just spoke to me because it almost has a way of past crossing and
07:17the different choices that you could make that could change your path of life the person that took
07:22my photo is kevin from massachusetts i think this is really beautiful the movement of water is really
07:27interesting in the way that water reacts to a single drop i know that i'm going to do something
07:33that's fluid it has to resemble water so immediately silk charmeuse this is the first time in this
07:38competition i'm not doing the dress i want to put a stamp on these judges minds like i haven't even
07:43talked to them yet that's why to me it's imperative that i'm in the top for this challenge
07:47i'm designing a dress she has an all-american quality to her which is young and fresh i think
07:56what i've designed so far has been very bold and now i'm going to show my softer side okay guys time
08:02to head to moon don't forget your pictures i'm excited about this one
08:07i'm making these modular nets that can be combined in different ways kind of like a tinker toy set of
08:31fashion the colors i'd like two yards the black i'd like three ten minutes everyone thank you why
08:39would someone take this photo and i think it's truly the colors i thought that i would be true to kevin and
08:43his photo and really match the colors perfectly i think it's something of this tone time's up designers
08:52that's it got it good luck everyone thank you let's do this guys pressure is up so high because we only
09:09have one day to complete this challenge everyone has their own sewing machine so keep that in mind
09:16okay i'm right behind you because this is all stars it seems very very intense like we're already
09:23competing for the final three so i was on the bottom last week and this challenge i want to rise to the
09:27top i definitely consider myself a separates designer however i think this is unique for me because i'm
09:34pushing it more than i normally would
09:39i'm making a silk charmeuse gown and i'm going to create my own print to resemble water
09:45i need a drink i'd like a stiff drink i'm trying to deal with the other designers personalities
09:50everybody being like oh my god the whole privilege thing and i have this really vulnerable feeling
09:56i get that there are people here that are not sincere and they're not wanting to be friends
10:00that's fine then we won't be friends we have different lives it's new people that don't understand
10:05you and as much as i try to do this and not hear what other people are saying i still hear what they
10:13say i think laura needs to be more careful and soft with the way she says things because sometimes
10:20they can come off very harsh it's been difficult when people here don't understand me and i can't
10:24say a word about my own home life because they just want to be like wow isn't that peachy
10:28if you let every person in here affect you you won't be capable of your best work
10:37coming up on project runway all stars the pressure's on you actually seem a bit emotional
10:43today it's very personal i'm surprised you haven't won a challenge yet i might be an outsider
11:03this challenge is an interactive challenge project runway fans around the world
11:08tweeted images and we're to select an image and be inspired to create a garment i think it
11:15definitely will be a little bit more difficult for the judges to judge this challenge because it is
11:20so arbitrary i mean what's important is to make sure that your inspiration story and the photo correlate
11:27with your design i think this is a great challenge for all of us the first thing i start working on is
11:32the top that i'm creating because i realize that you know the linear lines of the design is going to
11:38be extremely time consuming and i want to make sure that it's done right
11:48the pressure's on but any type of stress or panic that i have i can just push it out
11:53i might be an outsider i'm reluctant to believe that i am an outsider but i think i am i seem to have
12:03so little in common with these people i've created a second level of desk underneath my desk where i keep
12:10all of my precious things andre to me is golem from lord of the rings because he reminds me of that weird
12:18creature andre is a great guy but i don't see him as a designer i see him at the personality let's say
12:25some al jolton exactly designers hello hello this is such a talented room and i just want to remind you
12:38this is all stars you all have what it takes to be a great designer do you have what it takes to win
12:45this competition i'm thrilled to be joined by usa today's style editor allison maxwell and we are
12:52now going to come around together and help you with your designs andre so do you have your photograph
12:59handy i do this is deborah from alabama my response is modular knits panels of fabric with zippers
13:07that came that are kind of interchangeable so you sort of make your own t-shirt almost
13:11by strapping in your own panels or zipping them in when you feel like it i can't decide if it's
13:16bonkers or brilliant i think it's bonkers and brilliant but brilliantly so yes big shocker andre's
13:24doing something wackadoo i mean i think we're used to it by now hi oh hi laura kathleen hi tell us about
13:33your picture what spoke to you about it what spoke to me was um vulnerability i loved the look of
13:41it obviously but then it also gave a little emotion you actually seem a bit emotional today
13:47you know just the dynamics i think as the competition goes it gets more serious and
13:51you know tensions are higher this is beautiful when do people wear long gowns i wear long gowns
13:57everywhere i go why do i not find that surprising when was the last time you wore a long gown a while
14:02ago yeah so i think it's really important to focus on something that you know everyone can wear sure
14:09good all right good luck with it laura kathleen thank you i appreciate it you know i'm not going to lie
14:13to you i'm not trying to make clothes that are accessible to like the farmers of america i'm trying
14:18to make clothes that are fashion forward and progressive
14:20emilio hello congratulations on last week's triumph yay finally tell us a little bit about
14:30the picture to sophie from california and i loved her attitude so what i created is a simple t-shirt
14:39dress what's the headline sophie's choice i'm not sure about that headline we do have to remember what
14:46sophie's choice refers to so we don't want to go i remember the merle streep and how deep it was so
14:50you're right maybe i just played on the name okay but thank you for the tip good luck okay
14:57hi ladies hi joshua so talk to us about this i wanted to be true to the colors and work with
15:02this color palette so i'm working with a very structured shirt i want you to pay attention up here
15:09that it doesn't end up looking too arts and craftsy okay josh's look it's um it's disheartening
15:15because i know that he's better than what he's doing one of the things we always say at usa today
15:20is when you're looking at a design you want to look at it and feel it and in looking at the picture
15:25and what you have going so far i think it's perfect thank you i think you have to be careful with black
15:31lace and red it can read very hookery i actually like these pants i'm just nervous first of all those
15:39hats are making me crazy what i'm doing is to add some masculine elements you don't really realize
15:45that a caterpillar can turn into something as beautiful as a butterfly i feel like as human
15:49beings we always try to evolve into better people i think you are finding a real energy in this season
15:56i feel like you've found a place where you feel strong thank you i appreciate that all right good
16:01luck ivy thank you thanks hey anthony ryan how are you i'm great how are you good so where's your photo
16:07let's uh take a look right here this is from diane from new york okay and what was the headline you
16:13pulled from the photo um always moving forward it's very personal i was diagnosed with cancer and
16:20that whole time i was doing chemo i maintained a full school schedule because doing this is what
16:25really brought me a positive outlook designing and fashion that was who i relied on when i had cancer it
16:32wasn't family or friends or doctors it was myself and designing life is really about second chances
16:41and i'm gonna make the best of it well i'm looking forward to seeing the skirt thank you i think it
16:45looks great yeah good start thank you so much i'll see you hi how are you hi tell us a little bit about
16:51your photo i love the color combination i love the tone when i look at this picture i see lots of light
16:58i'm not seeing the taupe which is your dominant color i felt like if i went too much in the direction
17:04of a lighter color and all of the draping it might just start to go away from that classic element of
17:10a suit i'm glad you're stretching yourself by doing a trouser suit i wonder if it's as special as the photo
17:20althea's picture is very architectural so she's gonna definitely have to step it up on the fit of her
17:26garment this time i would just like to say when you guys picked your pictures there was probably
17:31some emotion you were feeling i want you to make sure that that emotion translates into your final
17:36product thank you thanks okay good luck guys i'm more just like i want to make sure that it looks like
17:47amazing i decided to do a little bit of a drape in a pant just because it's something different i'm here
17:53to take a risk this is all stars let's just try it on and see how it says her name is sophie
18:02i know she's all done let me put some shoes let's try those althea's design i don't know what woman
18:10would want to wear something that unflattering there's gonna be like a drape front on top
18:15kane has bad taste and at this point in the competition nothing can help change or fix kane's
18:21aesthetic it gets really boring just gotta really press it i think with the time constraints i bit
18:27off more than i could chew i'm like boo boo you have got to hurry up i know i'm not just the only one
18:34we're all scrambling ten minutes everyone ten minutes the skirt is five yards of fabric that's
18:46what gives it a poofiness and then i have to line it it's a lot torture
18:51okay guys that's a wrap let's go home come on
19:08in the end you're here to show what you can do i'm here for that you're here for that any kind of drama
19:13or that kind of thing around it i just i don't really want to be a part of you know you just
19:17really have to stay focused on the design you know that's going to get you through right so cheers
19:22girl to great design cheers coming up on project runway all stars
19:32the morning the runway i don't have enough time i don't have enough fabric oh no i'm not even ready
19:36for you joshua's look reminds me of rainbow bright i wouldn't really see anyone over the age of 20 wearing
19:42that garment it's important to have a challenge like this because we actually get to draw inspiration
19:57from the fans they're the people that are coming back wanting to see what i'm going to be designing
20:01next too many clothes andre is crazy as a loon he is constantly thinking 10 steps ahead but as far as
20:10time maintenance it's a miracle he pulls anything out i'm pushing myself because the level of work
20:18is elevated i'm competing to do the best i can and to win right thanks oh no i'm not even ready for
20:30you to put it on yet so okay i'd like to see if elthea push herself a little bit more you know she
20:35hasn't been in the top or the bottom so it's hard to get a read on what they're thinking about her
20:42there are moments where you feel the pressure you know when something's not finished or ready
20:46the day of a runway show but that's the industry good morning oh good morning how about red orange
21:01lit and laura mercier mascara i want her to look very fresh sheen here and then the rest match great
21:07copper bronze with like a nice glow and strong eyebrows
21:11tight tight tight a pony it's got to be a pony i'm thinking center park do you agree center park
21:21maybe something like that love it guys we have 30 minutes
21:26flawless no casanova is a quick little monster that little bugger knows how to sell a pair of hands in
21:31like 30 minutes i do love altia's look the jacket beautiful but i think the execution of the pants was
21:38sloppy don't fluff it behind the screen no no no no okay emilio's stress is so bold it's so out there
21:46i love it these challenges are super difficult and i've put a lot of emotion into my design and made
21:53it very personal so i really hope the judges see that can't make this parisian prostitute with a
21:59chicken in the head terrible oh debra from alabama what's going on in this photo i wonder if
22:08debra is like me another creative spirit trying to get their work out into the public guys time to
22:16walk line up pack your bags get your girl it was not fitting because it was too tight thank god for
22:24laughter joshua's look to me reminds me of rainbow bright i wouldn't really see anyone over the age
22:30of 20 wearing that garment i just don't think that it's chic going into this runway i'm trying to be as
22:38happy as i can about this look but it's very nerve-wracking coming up on project runway all stars
22:49there's too much to think about it just feels costumey for me like it looks like a wound i would look
22:54like a chinese lantern in that thing when you go up against the best that's divine make sure you have
23:02flavor keep what good evening designers hi this week's challenge was truly for the fans we joined

24:53i think my dress looks badass
24:56i am on cloud nine
25:07i think the fabric is moving very fluid the print looks amazing i have worked to prove myself to anybody
25:15that has doubted
25:22she looks great and i'm thinking wow this is really working this is good this is exuberant and happy and
25:29clean and there's a ton of whimsy and she has great hair
25:34it's kind of harmonious you can see how comfortable she is and how happy she is with the look you can feel it
25:46i love how she looks in the suit i think the suit has great movements it's tailored very nicely to her
26:00figure it would turn my head and i'd you know be like who designed that i want one
26:04i'm capable of designing clothing that people will love all i'm thinking to myself is i don't even have
26:16a shot in hell at winning this so god please don't let me go home on this
26:27i think the dress looks stunning i love it on the girl but i'm a little worried because it's not a bright
26:34color
26:43this really does mean a lot to me because this is a huge opportunity to show our work on a national
26:49scale so i'm more motivated than ever to win this competition
26:52i love creating something different and i'm like ba bam it's bold it's fresh it stands out from the rest of
27:06them it's exciting
27:13my model looks hot strong confident beautiful in command
27:19my model looks hot strong confident
27:29designers
27:33if i call your name please step forward
27:35Laura Kathleen
27:38Andre
27:40Joshua
27:42Anthony Ryan
27:45Emilio
27:47Althea
27:49If I called your name, one of you has this week's highest score
27:54and will be the winner.
27:58And unfortunately, another has the lowest and will be eliminated.
28:01The rest of you, congratulations, you are safe.
28:08You may leave the runway.
28:14Designers, let's bring out your models.
28:25Althea, how did you pick your photo?
28:26The photo really spoke to me because I like the idea that even though it's this really old,
28:30glamorous building, how they've kind of been able to reuse it for a very modern purpose.
28:35You succeed in so many ways, but somehow the pants I'm not getting at all.
28:40I think like the expected thing to do would be like a skinny pant with this jacket,
28:43so I wanted to push it and do something different.
28:45So what's that sort of pocket in the front, side, left?
28:48Oh, this here? That's a drape.
28:50It doesn't drape enough or it drapes too much or something.
28:53It looks like a wound.
28:54I like the way that you referenced the photo in the colors, but overall, I think it's a bit drab.
29:00I like the idea of like a deconstructed job pant, but we see this look from Givenchy and so it's got to be so spot on.
29:09Yeah, I think the jacket is done really nicely and all the details and I like how you took a Victorian feel to make it modern,
29:16but the trousers do kind of throw me off.
29:19I like how you talk about the photo and how you were interested in this old building being used in these new modern ways.
29:26And I'm a drop-cratch apologist and I really like that you like did it,
29:30but I wish that there had been something more interesting with the jacket or with the color of the top underneath.
29:37Anthony Ryan.
29:39Essentially in the photograph, it was really all about not looking back.
29:42It was always moving forward.
29:44I love looking at the photograph and looking at the dress and how they reference each other.
29:50Could you turn around?
29:51Because all those straps on the back are so great.
29:54For a dress that might be too sexy, it's not too sexy.
29:58You have such a graphic quality to what you do.
30:01My criticism to you today, Anthony, is that I've seen these colors from you and I've seen this dress from you.
30:06Right.
30:06I'd like you to take a bit of a risk next time.
30:09I agree with Georgina that you could take more risks, but I'm really happy in looking at this dress.
30:14I like how it's like a little bit of a mark to the neck.
30:17It makes it a little bit more conservative and I also like that it's a longer length too.
30:22I think you did a really good job of capturing both the spirit of the photo,
30:26but also the spirit of the kind of woman who chose that photo.
30:29And I just love so much how that's reflected in both the sheer in front and all the straps in the back.
30:35So, yeah.
30:36I like it.
30:37Joshua.
30:38So the photo I chose really spoke to me and I love how linear it is,
30:42but at the same time, there's something that's so fluid about it.
30:45It just feels a touch costuming.
30:47When I see your picture, the colors bleed into one another.
30:51I wanted to see something more organic.
30:54I love the idea of color, but for some reason, I feel like in this design, there's too much to think about.
31:01If that was all gray and black, we probably would have liked it a lot more.
31:04It's hard for me to really like the two pieces together,
31:07but it's also hard for me to imagine them working with other parts of someone's wardrobe.
31:14So, Andre, why did you choose this photo?
31:18It's a photo of a woman from Alabama looking off to the side, slightly forlorn.
31:24So this is my response.
31:25Euphoric modular knits.
31:27Panels of stretch fabric, but they have separating zippers that you can combine as you wish.
31:32I don't get anything forlorn or what forlorn has to do with anything.
31:36I had no idea that it was about zipping together panels.
31:40Part of the idea that I thought would be so wonderful is if this was a spread in USA Today,
31:45the actual article could be the pattern.
31:47Oh, interesting, interesting.
31:48Maybe I'll get through to you.
31:50Oh, dear.
31:51I'm sorry.
31:52I'm sorry.
31:52Andre, when you're using a stretch fabric and a zipper,
31:56what happens is the zipper is stiff and it's going to buckle.
31:59And it's taking away your idea of having the illusion of a slimming waist through color blocking,
32:05which is a great idea.
32:07I mean, I like the punch of colors.
32:09I just think if you had more time, it would have been a little more successful.
32:13If only.
32:15Laura Kathleen.
32:17I was really happy to get my picture.
32:18It is a droplet of water hitting a clean surface of water.
32:22And so I got ivory and I actually dyed this and made the print.
32:26This is really good as a dress.
32:28And then when you see that it's inspired by that photograph, you go, oh, right.
32:32It's wonderful.
32:34I like that you had to dye it yourself because I really love that it captures the mood of the photo
32:40without directly referencing what it's of.
32:44Overall, I think you did a great job and I love this dress all the more.
32:48Now I know you did that print yourself.
32:50If you're going to do a long skirt, I really would have loved to see in the bottom of the dress,
32:54touch the floor.
32:55It's a commitment to long skirt and I always think it needs to go all the way.
32:59It just really stood out for me and it is very organic and I think it's really, really beautiful
33:04and I would wear this.
33:06I'd love for you.
33:07I'd love for you.
33:07Okay.
33:08Emilio.
33:09My photo is from a young girl from California named Sophie because it reminded me of the fantasy of fashion
33:15and I wanted to create a dress that had a fantasy element to it.
33:20It's light as a feather.
33:22Your girl looks totally modern to me.
33:24It just was like this one fresh idea.
33:27It's definitely a harder dress to wear and the shape could probably have been pushed out a little bit more and bigger.
33:34But I think it's fun.
33:35I think it's playful.
33:36Yes.
33:37I absolutely love your inspiration.
33:39I'm in love with her.
33:40I mean, she's so sweet.
33:43You know what?
33:43Your dress evokes that emotion.
33:45It makes you smile.
33:46It has a wink to it.
33:48And I love that creativity and the way you've stepped away from, I don't know, the zeitgeist of everybody else here.
33:53Thank you very much.
33:54Thank you, designers.
33:56You've given us a lot to think about.
33:58So we're going to have our chat and we'll call you back.
34:07So what did they say?
34:15I'm on the bottom and they didn't like the color of the suit.
34:18Clearly, they want a bright runway.
34:20With that said, then, you know, mine was so bright and they're like, if you do that on monochromatic scale, it could be really impactful.
34:26I think they expect color.
34:28And if you don't use color, you should have a really good reason why you're not.
34:31I mean, I guess we could start with the high scores.
34:35Because there we saw some standouts.
34:37Anthony did a pitch perfect dress.
34:40Portions were fantastic.
34:41His balance is great.
34:43The great thing is that we know who that woman is.
34:45She's sexy.
34:46She's in control.
34:47There's always invention.
34:49He actually gets it right.
34:50I think he did a great job.
34:52But at the same time, the back part is like almost too low.
34:55There were so many bodycon dresses, but it was the only one where I didn't immediately feel like skin was being shown.
35:03And I like that he plays around with that.
35:06I think that he knows he's playing around with something.
35:08It's an actual intention.
35:12Talk about Laura Kathleen.
35:14I do love that she created something with these panels in front that had a bit of originality.
35:20Laura Kathleen did an amazing job dyeing that fabric and props to her for doing that.
35:25She played up the fact that she did create that fabric.
35:28And that being said, it's what made it interesting.
35:30But really, when that dress walked, it wasn't like, wow.
35:36I liked Emilio's dress a lot.
35:38To quote you, he was at a different place than the zeitgeist.
35:42In this case, I think he was right and everybody was wrong.
35:45It was very bold and loud, but felt light.
35:48It was kind of a breath of fresh air.
35:50The pop of color underneath and all the kind of little details.
35:53But at the same time, it's not an easy dress to wear.
35:56I would look like a Chinese lantern in that thing.
35:58It would not be pretty.
35:59The low scores.
36:03Hearing Andre talk about how excited he was, it's great.
36:07But, like, you don't get that back story if you're just shopping.
36:12I'm kind of getting tired of having these conversations with him.
36:16I got Patagonia from the whole thing.
36:18I did.
36:19I got Foot Locker from this.
36:20Oh, and the pink shoes and the matching eyeshadow.
36:23Wow, that was really rough.
36:25Rough.
36:25The styling on that was not okay.
36:27Her face looked forlorn, though.
36:29Can I just say, Althea's jacket was really good.
36:34And those pants were a disaster.
36:35But I do think she will learn her lesson.
36:37I felt like it was a mommy kangaroo and something was going to jump out of them.
36:41She tried to do a suit when everyone else was doing dresses.
36:44Something you notice about neutrals, some khakis are wonderful.
36:47That one was not good.
36:49And you almost can't know that inside a fabric store.
36:52You have to try it and fail with it and then go on to the next khaki.
36:58If we move on to Joshua, it was a combination of that top and skirt.
37:04It was so schizophrenic to me.
37:07Could you wear this?
37:07Is this a wearable piece?
37:08I mean, no.
37:09It just bared no resemblance to the image of me at all.
37:13Like military geisha.
37:14Sergeant Pepper?
37:15That's it, Sergeant Pepper.
37:16And the fit, too.
37:18It's so literal how he just copied the palette.
37:21It was just kind of like a math equation.
37:25We have our decision?
37:27Yeah.
37:29Okay.
37:30Designers, tonight one of you will be named the winner of this challenge
37:43and will receive a photo and interview story in USA Today.
37:47And one of you will be going home.
37:54Designers, one of you will be named this week's winner
37:58and one of you will be going home.
38:02Emilio, you are safe.
38:05You can leave the runway.
38:11Anthony Ryan and Laura Kathleen.
38:15One of you is the winner of this challenge.
38:19And that designer is...
38:21Anthony Ryan.
38:28Congratulations, Anthony Ryan.
38:30Yeah, thank you.
38:31Your headline is...
38:33Always moving forward.
38:34Well, that's good because you'll move forward to next week.
38:37You may now leave the runway.
38:39I won the Interactive Fan Challenge
38:41and I get an editorial in USA Today.
38:45This is huge.
38:46This is something that I would never get anywhere else.
38:50Laura Kathleen, you also did a good job.
38:53So you can leave the runway.
38:58I was about to pass out.
39:08Awesome.
39:12Althea, you are safe.
39:16We'll see more from you next week.
39:18Thank you guys so much for your feedback.
39:19Andre, Joshua, you have the lowest scores
39:28and that means that one of you will be eliminated tonight.
39:35Andre, your look is very colorful,
39:39but yet it's unclear who the woman you're designing for is.
39:42Joshua, we love your idea of using bright colors,
39:49but you were too literal with your inspiration.
39:55Joshua,
39:57you are in.
40:02Which means I'm sorry to say, Andre,
40:04but you are out.
40:05It's too bad.
40:09Thank you, Joshua.
40:11You stay in the competition.
40:13You may leave the runway.
40:15Thank you, guys.
40:20Andre,
40:21we've loved having you here.
40:24This is something that, um,
40:26that I'm proud of.
40:28We're going to miss you.
40:33Thanks, Carolyn.
40:34Bye.
40:35Bye.
40:40Just one group hug, please, really fast.
40:43It was eye-opening to be in this group of people
40:46that were so driven.
40:48I'm sad that it's over,
40:51but it's making me very interesting
40:53and it's definitely giving me a lot of stories to tell.
40:57I shall be okay.
40:58Congratulations on winning the USA Today Challenge.
41:07Why did you pick that picture?
41:08One thing that I really got
41:09from my whole cancer experience
41:10is just to be appreciative
41:12for every day that you're given.
41:13I really wanted the dress
41:14to just be very linear,
41:15like to photograph.
41:16It's sexy.
41:17It's kind of unexpected.
41:18You really turn to the back
41:19and it's like, oh, wow.
41:21For this strong, confident woman
41:22who is comfortable in her own skin.
41:24You nailed it.
41:28Next, on Project Runway All-Stars,
41:31your challenge is to create
41:33an androgynous look for your model.
41:35And I'm going to give you a bit of a twist.
41:37Oh, man.
41:38Oh, f**k.
41:40Don't buy me.
41:40Don't buy me.
41:44Did you just say there wasn't much ballroom?
41:46I'm in trouble.
41:47Such a drama crew.
41:49What the hell?
41:49We should be doing our own garments.
41:51We are thrilled to welcome designer Jason Wu.
41:54I think in this case,
41:55he would have done better with less.
41:57I mean, everything's wrong.
41:59I have to cool off after that one.
42:01Atrocious, okay?
