00:00Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:04This is the challenge that every designer loves to hate,
00:07but every viewer wants to watch.
00:09Oh my goodness, it's Christmas.
00:11This is so hard.
00:12How I can make a dress with this stuff?
00:15You doing all right?
00:16No, this .
00:19No, I need it for it to cover the bottom of the skirt.
00:23Ivy and Casanova, they're like one person and two bodies.
00:27It's a poncho.
00:30It's absolutely stunning.
00:35The way you mix things together is magic.
00:38The winner is bully.
00:39I thank you so much.
00:41The problem is that it's a 60s cocktail dress, but junior 60s.
00:45Ouch. I feel your panic.
00:47You have a tendency to go old lady.
00:49If my stylist tried to put that on me, I'd just go, whoa.
00:53I'm sorry to say Casanova, you are out.
00:55Why don't you want a coffee?
01:00Why don't you want a coffee?
01:0113 of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
01:05Back for more.
01:06Back for blood.
01:08Admit it, you missed them.
01:10And this time, the competition is tougher than ever.
01:13This is war.
01:15Each week, their skills are tested to the limit.
01:17Hideous or fabulous.
01:19This is not a game.
01:21Nothing gets past me.
01:23Who will be cut and who will have it all sewn up?
01:26This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:29The winning designer will have the chance to create a custom branded capsule collection
01:34with Nine West.
01:35The winner will also receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire Magazine and a position as
01:39contributing editor for one year.
01:41From Laura Mercier, an all-expenses-paid trip around the world to Fashion Week such as Paris,
01:46London, Milan, and Tokyo.
01:48A technology suite and office space from HP and Intel to bring their creativity to life and run their business.
01:54A sewing and embroidery studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery to help launch their line.
01:59And a cash prize of $150,000.
02:11I'd be losing Casanova really hit you hard.
02:14Yeah.
02:15I understand there's only one man standing, but you know, you just hope that you would have your friend with you to the end.
02:20Right.
02:20Right.
02:21Because Casanova's not here anymore, it really pushes my spirit to work even harder.
02:25I want to do something that I'm proud of and that he would be proud of too.
02:29This will be the challenge where we're all up there.
02:31Oh, yeah.
02:32Oh, yeah.
02:33Down to six.
02:35I think the six that are left, we're always the strongest ones.
02:39This elimination is going to really be the game changer.
02:43Let's go.
02:43Let's do it.
02:44All right.
02:44All right.
02:45Vamoosh.
02:51I like this.
02:55Carolyn walks out and she's got envelopes.
02:58I'm just praying to God that it's not another team challenge.
03:01Good morning, designers.
03:02Good morning.
03:03You know, you're all getting close to that incredible grand prize.
03:09So here's this week's challenge.
03:11The 1920s was the decade when fashion entered the modern era.
03:17From music to movies, the jazz age has returned.
03:21Your challenge is to create a look for the modern woman inspired by the 1920s.
03:27But where is she going?
03:30I have six invitations here.
03:33Uli, you won last week's challenge.
03:35So come on up and select first.
03:39Don't open it yet.
03:44Uli, open your invitation.
03:48Social soiree.
03:50An afternoon garden party.
03:54A speakeasy.
03:55Laura Kathleen.
03:57Social soiree.
03:59I like it.
04:01After hour speakeasy.
04:03Let me guess.
04:05Oh, an afternoon garden party.
04:08Let's make this a fashion face-off.
04:14Okay, guys, go sit in your pairs.
04:16Good evening.
04:18Good afternoon.
04:19Joshua and myself, we made design for a similar woman, but I'm confident.
04:23I've won twice and he hasn't won.
04:26It couldn't have worked any better.
04:27Emilio and Joshua, you have the afternoon garden party.
04:31Ivy and Anthony Ryan, the after-hours speakeasy.
04:35Uli and Laura Kathleen, an evening social soiree.
04:38The flansy.
04:40Laura and I have a very similar aesthetic.
04:42It's not going to be easy.
04:44And only one of us is going to make it out of the runway alive.
04:47For each event, there will be a high-scoring designer and a low-scoring designer.
04:53The challenge winner will come from the top scorers and the eliminated designer from the low scorers.
04:59I'm not pest control, but I will not mind exterminating Ivy.
05:03You have $250 to shop at Nude.
05:07Can't wait.
05:08See you tomorrow.
05:09Bye, Carolyn.
05:10Bye, Carolyn.
05:16Oh, we're sharing a table and competing.
05:19It's empty in the air.
05:21What are we going to do back there, Dan?
05:22Dance party.
05:24That was a good one.
05:26All right, I'm ready now.
05:27I think this is a really interesting challenge.
05:29It's a garden party, but you kind of have to focus on beating your opponent.
05:33For the 1920s garden party, I want to do a really pretty dress.
05:41But a woman of today is not going to go into a short, boxy dress.
05:46I'm leaning towards the latter part of the 20s.
05:50The silhouette came a little closer to the body and the hemline more demure.
05:54The last challenge I won, but I also know facing off against Laura Kathleen for the social soiree.
06:01It's going to be tough.
06:02It's like a very high-end event.
06:05And I really want to do something with very long fringes because I think that's so 20s for me.
06:10Every challenge brings out feathers in me.
06:12Laura, any feathers for this soiree?
06:15Hell no.
06:16I don't need feathers to compensate for my design.
06:19Ooh, she said it.
06:22Just saying.
06:23Teeth and claws are out.
06:24Maybe a little fur.
06:25Maybe a little fur.
06:26For the evening soiree, I really, really want to make a fur coat with a beaded top
06:31and then really pretty pants with these pleats that run all the way down the side.
06:35I have an after-hours speakeasy.
06:38And I'm really thinking that I want something low-cut, not form-fitting.
06:42The hems are higher.
06:43When she walks down the runway, you want to have sex with her.
06:46You guys ready to head to mood?
06:47Yeah.
06:48Let's head to mood.
06:49We use fabric.
06:50Fabric.
06:50And fuzzards.
06:51And fuzzards.
06:52And fuzzards.
07:02Why isn't everyone up here?
07:07I've decided to design something that gives a nod to the beautiful draping of that era.
07:14I want to bring the vibrancy that I bring to the runway week after week.
07:18Emilio, did you grab some greys?
07:20Emilio?
07:21I didn't.
07:21Hi, Emilio.
07:23Emilio.
07:25Joshua and I, we gravitate to the same things.
07:28And then whatever he gets, I'll take that.
07:31Prints were big in the 20s.
07:33But to make this look more modern, I want to find something that's more geometric.
07:38But I like the print on the wrong side.
07:40I'm going to hang on to these feathers.
07:41I'm not positive yet.
07:46I really love the art deco period that the 1920s was influenced by.
07:51I love this.
07:51I want to buy a fabric that is embellished.
07:54Because it is an after-hours speakeasy, my girl would look very eye-catching.
07:58How much is this?
07:58150 a yard.
08:01Holy crap.
08:02A yard and a half, please.
08:03I'm taking a huge risk.
08:04It's incredibly expensive.
08:06If it doesn't work, I'm done.
08:08Oh, thank you.
08:09Time is up.
08:11Feathers out.
08:21Sure enough, I've got a table next to Ivy.
08:25And I get this feeling that she's trying to hide everything from me.
08:29I don't know why Anthony Ryan thinks that he has to work super close to me.
08:33Every time I turn around, he seems to be behind me.
08:35You don't have to be over here doing this, because I'm not going to design anything that she would.
08:41This is a competition, and it's about survival of the fittest.
08:48She goes to the side, but keeps it super graphic.
08:52And then I feel like, stop.
08:55So I was seriously trying to stay away from feathers.
08:58And then here we get the challenge, 20s inspired.
09:02It's almost like the challenge screams for feathers.
09:05Maybe that's my calling.
09:06I think that designs that are just made up of trim and feathers really isn't design.
09:11I think it's more of styling.
09:13So my plan is to combat trims and feathers with fur.
09:18I can't help it.
09:19I can't do anything off of flappers and not have a fur coat.
09:22That's true.
09:23It's crazy.
09:24People had these lovely fur coats in the 20s.
09:26They didn't have, like, chiffon dresses with feathers, like, stuck as trim all over them.
09:31And if it's an evening soiree, I mean, if you didn't show up with your fur, what were you doing?
09:36Oh, Lord, Uli's got the upper hand when it comes to fancy and sequins and embellishment.
09:44But Laura's got her beat on the construction.
09:46The competition has set in for everyone.
09:50I'm starting to get really stressed out.
09:56Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
09:59The fashion face-off of the two blondes.
10:01I'm ready to kick some ass.
10:03What would you give his?
10:04I don't think there's anything original about it.
10:06My lady owns the estate.
10:08Josh's lady is a guest.
10:23Our challenge is to create a look for the modern woman inspired by the 1920s for a specific event.
10:30Here we go, head to head, Emilio.
10:32Here we go.
10:33It's a true fashion face-off.
10:35And it's going to be Joshua versus myself.
10:37Uli versus Laura Kathleen.
10:40Anthony Ryan versus Ivy.
10:43It's really pretty.
10:44This is tough.
10:45I mean, me and Emilio have a very tricky category called the afternoon garden party.
10:50We have to kind of keep it clean, classic, a great day wear look.
10:55I have to do something about the bulk from all this, but this scene would go straight across like the hip.
10:59This would be this long.
11:00I'm using the most awful floral fabric to act as my muslin to make sure that I achieve an accurate drape.
11:08That fabric makes me laugh.
11:10So funny, right?
11:11Have you been to a garden party?
11:14The only parties I go to in New York City are fire escape parties.
11:17I don't know about y'all, there are no gardens.
11:20Rooftops and fire escapes.
11:24So I have decided to make a full feathered capelet, which is like a circle around the neck.
11:30If you think she's going out for a speakeasy, she wants something to maybe cover up a little here as
11:35she walks over there.
11:36I love it.
11:37Just something fun and kind of a showpiece to the look.
11:40This is how I would wear it.
11:47Right?
11:52For the after-hour speakeasy, I want to create some kind of geometric chevron using the fabric with the
11:57amazing stripes in it that are made of every different type of sequence that you can think of.
12:02I think Ivy right now is making her life too difficult.
12:05She's got an amazing beaded fabric, but she's cutting it in many, many pieces,
12:10and I know it's going to be difficult to sew it back together.
12:14Does anybody have a hammer?
12:16No, but if you want to crack beads.
12:19Oh, does that work?
12:20I'm making a beaded top and jumper.
12:23My entire piece of chiffon has glass beads on it.
12:27You cannot sew over glass beads, so I've got to start smashing all the beads on my seam allowances.
12:33Helping the competition.
12:34I know, right?
12:35Thanks, Uli.
12:36And then you're going to take me down.
12:38I admire Uli so much, but it's a face-off.
12:42It's going to be an honor to take her out of the competition.
12:45Hello, designers.
12:49Hi, Joanna.
12:50Hi.
12:51I'm so pleased that you're having the opportunity to do the 20s.
12:54I mean, it's having such a moment right now with Boardwalk Empire, with Downton Abbey, and,
12:59of course, I'm very interested in the fashion face-off angle.
13:03So, I want to see what you're all doing.
13:06Joshua.
13:07Hi, Joanna.
13:08So, we've got a gray and a green.
13:10This is a very Josh color, I think.
13:11Mm-hmm.
13:12I'm concerned that this is too marsupial.
13:14Okay.
13:15Because if it makes the model look bigger, that's not a flattering silhouette for a woman.
13:18Okay.
13:19Are you the only one that hasn't won a challenge in the room yet?
13:23And Ivy.
13:24And Ivy.
13:26And you were both in the bottom last week.
13:28Mm-hmm.
13:29Let's channel your inner Joshua who can do this.
13:32Thank you, Joanna.
13:33Emilio.
13:34Hi, Joanna.
13:35Talk to me.
13:36I think I need to go back to something that the judges know me for.
13:39Well, you were in the bottom and then you were in the middle, right?
13:41Yeah.
13:41I need to do something that's going to have a wow factor.
13:44Do you think this is a young print?
13:46Because this could be on your grandma's sofa, couldn't it?
13:49Wow.
13:50I didn't think of it that way, but I think my execution of the print and the lace is just
13:56going to give it like a nostalgic feeling without it being old.
14:00Can you see Josh's dress at a garden party?
14:02Yes.
14:02I think the only difference is my lady probably owns the estate.
14:06Josh's lady is a guest.
14:08You know, his girl may own the estate, but she's just the appetizer to her husband.
14:13She's the main course.
14:15That's a good character for you.
14:17That is a great character for you.
14:18Okay.
14:20Laura Kathleen, hello.
14:22You've got the evening soiree.
14:23Yes.
14:24I like the textures from the 20s a lot, and so I wanted to kind of do this modern pant and little
14:29vests.
14:30I love the pant aspect of it.
14:32I think it's really fun and you're capturing that newly liberated moment of the 20s.
14:36Now, let's just have a look.
14:37What is Uli up to?
14:39Because you're right next to your fashion foe.
14:42This is making me want to break into my Charleston moments.
14:47I feel like, come on.
14:49Here's my anxiety about your dress, Uli.
14:52It feels similar to other things you've done.
14:54I did not want to go back to anything like this, but then it's 20s.
14:58And if I do something completely different, then the judges say, here's your chance to
15:02finally break out the fringes and the feathers.
15:04And you don't do it.
15:06I want this kind of Chanel moment.
15:08And I want to have it very graphic.
15:10I think the judges are going to find this very difficult because I think you're both
15:13doing exquisite work this week in the fashion face-off of the two blondes.
15:18May the best designer win.
15:19Here, Miss Joanna.
15:20Anthony Ryan, where is your girl going?
15:22It's an after-hour speakeasy.
15:24I've made this almost like capelet number.
15:27Which is absolutely magnificent.
15:29I mean, I saw it from afar and it looked dramatic, but close up it looks extraordinary.
15:33I'm going sort of a little naughty and definitely celebrating those freedoms that
15:37women had at that time.
15:38I'm going to steal it after you've had it walk down the runway.
15:42It's really gorgeous.
15:44So, Ivy is a gorgeous fabric, isn't it?
15:47This feels very 1920s.
15:49It's got those lovely lines that one associates with the 20s.
15:53It's very Roxy Hart from Chicago.
15:55Oh, I love that.
15:56I wanted to really create the angles and I wanted to create something that's feminine,
16:01but yet has a lot of strength to it.
16:03This is a fashion face-off.
16:05So, I want you to both just face off for a minute.
16:07What do you think, Anthony Ryan?
16:08Out of 10, what would you give Ivy's?
16:11Strong 70.
16:13What would you give his?
16:14A five.
16:16A five.
16:16A five?
16:17A strong five.
16:18That's tough, Ivy.
16:20Why would you give him a five?
16:21I mean, I just don't think there's really anything original about it.
16:24If you're going to ask me my opinion, be prepared to take the truth.
16:29All right, well, we'll let the judges decide.
16:30But this is literally the most talented room I have been in, in the whole history of All Stars.
16:35And I'm excited to see the runway.
16:37I really am.
16:38Thank you, Joanna.
16:40It's going to be different judging tomorrow.
16:43Against each other?
16:44Mm-hmm.
16:45I'm really excited about this one.
16:47I've struggled in the past two weeks with the challenges, but I'm really going to push myself.
16:51I am not intimidated at all by Anthony Ryan.
16:54I'm ready to kick some ass.
16:58Oh my god, you look gorgeous.
17:02So my model comes in, I put her in the jumper, and everything fits perfect.
17:06I definitely know her body by now.
17:08Cool, the pleats look really good.
17:09I'm feeling really good about my look.
17:11I'm excited to see it tomorrow on the runway.
17:14When I try to dress on, it's completely see-through, and I forgot to buy a skin color lining.
17:19So I'm kind of trying to build an underskirt with the leftover sequence.
17:25I can do another layer of this.
17:28That's what I'm going to do.
17:29I'm also looking over with Laura Kathleen.
17:31And I have to say, I really like her outfit.
17:34I think she has that fire right now, and she really wants to win.
17:37So, you know, it's going to be hard.
17:40Awesome.
17:41The real work of creating a dress happens in the fitting.
17:45Because until you have your dress on a body, you don't know what you have.
17:50Should it be here or more here?
17:52That brooch, to me, this makes it more Scottish.
17:55Do you see what I mean?
17:57I'm desperately trying to find where to place this brooch.
18:00I wanted this look to be about the decadence of the era.
18:04I mean, I think it just sounds like a really great, like...
18:07You could always use the non-West Wall to add some bling in there if you wanted.
18:15I already have that one side.
18:18Just have sequins everywhere, beads everywhere.
18:22At the end of the fitting, I really don't have that much to put on my model.
18:25I have half of a dress.
18:27I just have everything in pieces right now.
18:29Alrighty, ma'am.
18:31Bye.
18:32See you tomorrow.
18:35After the models leave, I have to take apart the entire bodice,
18:39insert the lace, and hem the dress.
18:42That's a lot of work.
18:43Five minutes till we're walking out the door.
18:48I think I have a whole load of stuff left to do.
18:52At all the fringes, ton of hand sewing,
18:54I have to make the undergarment, but I think I can do it somehow.
18:57It has to be.
18:59All right, guys.
19:00Let's call it a night and head back to night hotel and get some sleep.
19:03Way too much work to do.
19:05We're all stars.
19:06Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
19:14Mama Georgina is going to bingo night again and decided to get dressed up.
19:19I'm not here to be safe.
19:21I'm here to win.
19:22This is a competition.
19:23I'm going to kick our ass.
19:33Designers, we have two hours.
19:35Two hours.
19:35Okay, thank you, Josh.
19:37I have got to finish putting the fringe on the bottom of the dress.
19:45I've got to hand sew the second lining in there, and I'm going to finish the cape lip.
19:49I know that I really got called out for construction,
19:53and that's something that I'm very sensitive of.
19:55So I really want to make sure, especially with this fabric,
19:58that everything is finished properly.
20:00As beautiful and stunning and eye-catching as the fabric is,
20:05I feel as though she's relying on the fabric to make the look for her.
20:10Morning.
20:12This one will be working until we go out the room.
20:15Maybe a hand stitch, just...
20:17I'm never sure about my design until I actually see it on my model.
20:22So once she comes in and I get her in the dress, I'm really pleased.
20:25All right, let's put this on.
20:27I don't think that Uli's aesthetic's bad.
20:29I think that she designs like a stylist.
20:31You tack a bunch of stuff on something that's not that great.
20:34It is true.
20:34I mean, that's what stylists do.
20:35They make looks look better because they put it all together.
20:41I think we should play up the eye.
20:43And we're going to lash out.
20:45So I send my model to Laura Mercier Makeup Room and I want grit.
20:52She wants to look a little rough and tough.
20:53I want to do modern makeup instead of the red lip back then, like a coral matte lip.
20:59I want a really nude lip, but I wanted to really play up the eyes.
21:03Give a little nod to the Charleston.
21:05Yes, I love it. I love it.
21:08We can bring it back this way into like a faux bob.
21:11I think it'll look really chic and modern.
21:15It's like a straight and then just like a slight bevel in like the thigh.
21:18Designers, 15 minutes. 15 minutes left.
21:22You're sewing it on me?
21:23Yes.
21:23When I finally put the dress on my model, I love it.
21:26I think that she looks incredibly feminine, modern, sophisticated and very ethereal.
21:31Ivy's look looks like Mama Georgina is going to bingo night again and just decided to get dressed up.
21:38My look is stronger than Anthony Ryan's.
21:40I think that his dress happens to look like curtains from the 1920s rather than a dress from the 1920s.
21:46It's quite lovely in a one day challenge kind of way.
21:50I think my dress is a very, very strong dress.
21:53I think next to Joshua's dress, I don't think I should have a problem.
21:57I feel he's going to have a problem with the floral shoes, the handbag and that brooch on the waistline.
22:05Emilio does such costume design that if he doesn't play it right, he could wedge himself into a 1920s costume.
22:13All right, you guys, let's head to the runway.
22:16Let's go.
22:17Come on.
22:18Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
22:25It's neither sexy nor sensual.
22:28It went like cave woman.
22:29I feel like it's just very short.
22:31You don't always want that.
22:32This week, you just went wrong.
22:43Hello, designers.
22:45Welcome to the All Stars Speakeasy.
22:49Your challenge this week was to create a modern look inspired by the 1920s.
22:55Joshua and Emilio, you created designs for an afternoon garden party.
23:00Uli and Laura Kathleen, you had an evening social soiree.
23:04And Ivy and Anthony Ryan, you designed for an after hours speakeasy.
23:10For each event, there will be a high score and a low score.
23:14We call this a fashion face-off.
23:18Making these decisions are this week's judges.
23:21First, designer and co-founder of Marquesa, the lovely Georgina Chapman.
23:27Hi, designers.
23:28Hi, Georgina.
23:29One of the most famous names in fashion, the very dapper Isaac Mizrahi.
23:34Hi, kids.
23:35Our first guest judge is an actress known for her vintage style.
23:40She stars in the award-winning drama set in the Prohibition era, Boardwalk Empire.
23:46Please welcome the beautiful and talented Gretchen Mull.
23:51Our second guest judge is a designer known for her dazzling feminine glamour.
23:56She's dressed Hollywood royalty, such as Angelina Jolie.
24:00And even actual royalty, Prince William's bride, Kate Middleton.
24:04Please welcome British designer, Jenny Packham.
24:10Tonight, the judges are looking to see how you updated your 1920s inspired looks for modern day.
24:16So, let's get started.
24:18The drape has such great movement to it.
24:27She looks light.
24:28She looks fun.
24:29She looks ready and appropriate for an afternoon garden party.
24:36I'm happy with my look.
24:37Next to Joshua's dress, I don't think I should have a problem because it's not so overtly 20s,
24:43but it has a little nod of vintage, and I think that's a nice mix.
24:48I'm actually really excited because I think nothing is ever too tight.
24:56You know, you're showing off your body, but it's not form-fitting.
24:59It's kind of that ease and that fun, but I think the 1920s say to me.
25:08I couldn't be more happy with the look that I executed.
25:10From the pleating to the beading to the jumper, it was completely me.
25:18I am inspired by the flopper woman of the 1920s.
25:30My woman is a socialite.
25:32She likes to go out and party and mingle, and you know, she's gregarious.
25:36So, I definitely think this is a good match.
25:38I probably don't know all there is to know about the 20s, but I feel I've got another solid look
25:47on my hands.
25:48There's this almost very quirky, playful, girlish vibe to it, which I really wasn't aiming for,
25:54but it kind of worked.
25:55Designers.
26:05You did a great job at updating your 20s looks, but who was the best dressed?
26:14Let's start the critique.
26:15Joshua and Emilio, you both had the garden party.
26:28Joshua, how were you inspired by the 20s?
26:30Well, with this look, I wanted to really explore the freedom and the fluidity of the 20s,
26:36and I also naturally dropped the waist just a little bit to give it a bit of that touch of that era.
26:41I love the touch of that dress. She's got an attitude that I think is great, and it feels modern.
26:45Can you turn around for us? You've done such a wonderful job of making this look like a modern
26:51dress from the back, and that effect with the lime green, and the colors are so good.
26:56And then you give us this brooch and this handbag. It just completely threw my eye.
27:01When I first saw it, I thought it was a really snappy, great little shape.
27:05You know, I think the skirt's great, the pleating is really interesting, and I think it's very successful.
27:10I was struck by the lime and the fluorescent. I thought that was a really creative detail.
27:14I think it's modern. It's a great cut. Maybe it's just that it's so safe.
27:19I think that Carolyn is on to something. It's not interesting enough in terms of her beautiful figure.
27:27When she turns around, though, it's divine. It's exactly what the challenge called for.
27:32It's so good looking, and I think really commercial, and could be very expensive if you showed it properly.
27:38Thank you. Thank you, Joshua.
27:40Emilio.
27:40I was inspired by the use of a print, so I found this geometric, and I like the colors.
27:47So I engineered it so that all the blue would be on the top, and then it would gray down.
27:53I love the detailing in the back. Could you turn around, please?
27:56I just think that that is so beautiful. It reminds me a little bit of Ralph Lauren, which isn't a bad thing.
28:02It's ladylike, and I like the length of it. I feel like everything is really short right now anyway, and for some of us, we don't always want that.
28:12I did feel that these two dresses were, to me, two of the strongest. It's very elegant, perhaps a little more dated than I'd like it to be, but still successful in its own way.
28:24It was supposed to be like 1920s or Dorothy Parker or something, and instead I got Ginger Rogers, you know? The length and the shape is very 30s.
28:31It might be skewed later in the 20s, maybe 28, 29, when things were getting a little more fitted and longer.
28:38It's just a touch lacking in personality, and at this point of the competition, I'm really wanting to know who the designer is, what your trademarks are. So I really would encourage you to push that.
28:51Uli and Laura Kathleen, you both had the evening social soiree. We'll start with Uli.
28:58I wanted to create a dress that has that loose fit, and I wanted definitely to create some, the fringe for some movement, but use like very expensive fabrics and put them together into basically, that it looks like it's one piece of fabric.
29:14This is your challenge, wasn't it?
29:16Kind of, and I didn't want to go there, I swear.
29:20It's great. I love this dress. Congratulations.
29:23I will criticize the color white fringe. The white fringe makes the dress go a little cheap for me.
29:29I want to see what's, what her shoulders are and what's underneath there. I would love to see that.
29:33I love that. I love the thickness of this.
29:36I was afraid that's too, like on the nose or 20s.
29:40It doesn't matter if it works, it works.
29:42I prefer that.
29:43Yeah, I love it. It's lighter.
29:45The fringe doesn't seem as bad now you've taken that top part off.
29:48Well, for sure.
29:49It became very claustrophobic up here for me.
29:52I think you have sort of shaken it up a bit. Whilst, you know, it's clearly inspired, it does feel very modern.
29:58I like this cowl neck shawl. I think it's really fun. I really, really like this look a lot.
30:03Thank you so much.
30:05Okay, Laura Kathleen, let's move on to you.
30:07I was happy that I got evening social soiree because it's a fancy affair.
30:11And then of course, I do love a whimsical pant. With the fabric choices and the cut of what's underneath, I was kind of nodding to the whole art deco that you saw in the 20s with the glass beaded fabric and then the shapes in the front to cover.
30:25There are brilliant things about this ensemble. Can you take off the fur, please? Yeah. I mean, wow, that is so wonderful. With the fur, the silhouette of the pant is just too much on her. It's like she just looks heavy. It went like cavewoman or something to me.
30:43I think it's very sophisticated. When it was moving on the catwalk, it looked beautiful.
30:48I mean, kudos to you because the top is so beautiful. My only criticism is the pant. I'm not crazy about what's happening down at the bottom, how it's kind of flaring out to the side.
30:58Trousers are your thing. They really do need to be perfect. No girl wants to look bigger on the hip. And right now, your model is looking enormous. And I know she's not.
31:08And just always be careful of the crotch area, especially in a reflective fabric, because right here, it's doing all sort of shadowing that no woman wants.
31:17Thank you. So now we're headed into the late night and the after-hour speakeasy. Ivy, we'll start with you.
31:24So the textile that I decided to use is leather, and I found this really beautiful fabric with metallic beading and sequins.
31:32I wanted to create a geometric silhouette. I also wanted to place the feathers strategically so it still looked like she was feminine and soft.
31:42When I look at this dress, it's Prada-esque to me. But I feel like maybe it's a little too literal, and I've seen it before.
31:49Somehow the chevron in the back looks very flattering. And in the front, it doesn't do much for her figure.
31:55Right now, it feels so heavy.
31:57The feathers are too light. From here, I can see the ones around the bottom. And then on top of the beading, it just becomes a bit of a distraction.
32:06And I think when it was moving, it had a lot more going for it.
32:09This one has really grown on me. It feels like you'd see someone wearing this at an art opening.
32:15Thank you, Ivy. And Anthony Ryan, tell us about the speakeasy that your girl is going to.
32:21I really wanted to take this idea of the 20s, and I asked myself, if we were set in Prohibition, how would she get to a bar?
32:28What would she wear? Would she want to party and drink in, essentially?
32:31So I wanted to give you a little bit of mysteriousness.
32:34And so I created this little cape number, but essentially it comes off, and this is something that she would wear to just really dance in.
32:41I love this one because it looks very modern, and yet it has the tassel feel to it.
32:47I think the only thing I would be careful of is the underneath maybe could have somehow been a bit closer to the body.
32:53It looks like young and fun, and I think mostly it's just very striking.
32:58I don't like the feather capelet, frankly. Better without it, for sure.
33:03Could you put it back on again just so that I could actually make sure that I'm right? It is good.
33:08I like it. I love it.
33:09Me too. There's something good about it. I was wrong. I like the feathers.
33:12What I love about it is you have such a good way of taking something and making it your own and making it feel so modern and young and fresh.
33:20Good job.
33:21Thank you so much.
33:22Each pair of designers will get a high and low score.
33:25For the garden party, Joshua has the low score, and Emilio, you have the high score.
33:30For the evening soiree, Laura Kathleen, you have the low score, and Uli, you have the high score.
33:39For the after-hour speakeasy, Ivy, you have the low score, and Anthony Ryan, you have the high score.
33:45Thank you for your work, designers. We're going to discuss, and then we'll call you back.
33:50Thank you. You may leave the runway.
33:55Should we start with the high scores? Let's start with Emilio.
33:58I have to say, props to him for making a sexy dress, right?
34:02Mm-hmm. There's a woman here.
34:04No, I think to be a successful designer, you've got to try and bring something new to the table, and to me, it was something that I've seen a lot.
34:11I need to see Emilio's stamp on something.
34:13Of the three high scores, I do not get that this is this week's win.
34:18You don't?
34:18I don't, no.
34:21So it's between Anthony Ryan and Uli, right?
34:24Yes.
34:25Uli's is very free-spirited, and it's feminine, and it's light.
34:30It's got more detail.
34:31It's got more interest.
34:32It's sexier.
34:33She always manages to make her dresses look expensive.
34:37It's more complex.
34:38Yeah.
34:38There are layers to it.
34:39She just gives us something that's so embellished and kind of rich.
34:43It's also very modern.
34:46I just wonder whether Anthony's is slightly a more modern interpretation of 20s and Uli's.
34:53Anthony's is slightly more exciting and fresher.
34:56And I like the fact that the back is actually a little bit too low.
34:58It was daring and bold.
35:00You didn't like the feather shawl.
35:02I did.
35:02And when he took the feather shawl off, I didn't like the dress as much.
35:08Now comes the hard part.
35:09The low scores.
35:11Well, I didn't actually see Joshua's one as a low.
35:14I had a hard time between Emilio and Joshua because I think Joshua did do a great job.
35:19He really made the effort and the cut and to have this fluidity of his dress.
35:24I immediately say that we have to take Joshua out of it because I think that dress was really good, you know?
35:30I agree.
35:32Laura Kathleen, I'm really not into the trousers.
35:37The top was beautiful, but I just feel like it's such a sad miss.
35:41This one from Laura Kathleen had a lot wrong, you know?
35:46Even the shoe and the length of the hem.
35:49I mean, it's funny because when it walked down, I did like it more.
35:53I love the essence of Laura Kathleen's woman when she took off the gilet.
35:58I did think that was great.
35:59The first thing I said to her was like, I wish you didn't show that fur.
36:02I have to judge you on the fact that you loved it enough to show it that way.
36:07But when she took it off, I think it was one of the great things we saw today.
36:11But we've seen a pant look from her before.
36:14But with Laura Kathleen, the taste level is starting to get a bit boring to me.
36:17I feel like Laura Kathleen is going to just keep giving us this dowdy pantsuit, jumpsuit.
36:22I feel like we're just going to keep seeing it.
36:23No, you're right.
36:24You're right.
36:27Ivy did just, it was neither sexy nor sensual.
36:32It was, it felt lost.
36:33I feel like I've seen that dress before.
36:36It was poorly made.
36:38And she picked one of the most expensive looking fabrics as well.
36:42And then the treatment of it was just lost.
36:45Yeah, you could have done great things with that fabric.
36:47I think Ivy really just went wrong.
36:50Ivy's elements were stronger.
36:53So there's something more to work with.
36:55That's where I see her intention with this.
36:57And I think that that's what makes her dress more interesting to me.
37:01So have we made our decision?
37:05Yes, I think so.
37:07All right, let's bring them out.
37:18Designers, tonight one of you will be named this week's winner.
37:23And one of you will be going home.
37:31Uli, Emilio, and Anthony Ryan.
37:49You have the highest scores, and you've all won two challenges each.
37:54But who will be this week's winner?
37:56Emilio.
37:56You're safe this week.
38:01You can leave the runway.
38:02Thank you very much.
38:06Uli, Anthony Ryan.
38:09Both of you are through to next week.
38:11But who won this week's challenge?
38:14That designer is...
38:17Anthony Ryan.
38:24Congratulations, Anthony Ryan.
38:26Your 20s look was stunning.
38:29You can leave the runway.
38:30I beat Ivy, who rated me a five.
38:33I bet she won't do that again.
38:36And very well done to you too, Uli.
38:38Thank you so much.
38:39See you next week.
38:44Woo-hoo!
38:46Love it!
38:47No more feathers!
38:50Congratulations.
38:50I know.
38:51You're always ahead of us.
38:53Right.
38:53You've been in the top three forever.
38:54Gotta use feathers.
38:55Yes.
38:56Ivy, unfortunately, this is the third time she's been in the bottom.
38:59Consecutively.
39:00Consecutively.
39:00Consecutively.
39:01Yeah.
39:04Ivy.
39:06Laura Kathleen.
39:09Joshua.
39:11One of you will be going home tonight.
39:17Joshua.
39:17Joshua.
39:17You can join the others because you're safe.
39:30I'm going home tonight.
39:35Which leaves Ivy and Laura Kathleen.
39:38One of you will be in and one of you will be out.
39:44Ivy, you chose some amazing fabrics and your intention is clear.
39:49But women in the 20s were liberated and your modern version was weighed down.
39:55If you stay, you need to get back on track and quickly.
40:00Laura Kathleen, your pantsuit was wonderful.
40:04But showing it with the fur was a mistake.
40:06We felt that your look was so much lighter without it.
40:09If you stay, you've got to start showing some versatility.
40:13You're out, which means Ivy, you stay in the competition.
40:30Thank you, Ivy.
40:35Laura Kathleen, thank you so much for being a part of All Stars.
40:41We know that you're going to do great.
40:43Your designs are with ease.
40:44And don't forget, I'll be wearing your look on the red carpet.
40:47I'm excited. Thank you so much.
40:49We wish you all the best. Good luck.
40:50Thank you. Thanks, guys.
40:56I told you I'd get kicked off with a feather on my head.
40:59Oh.
41:00Give us a hug, miss.
41:02I'm not sad because I'm so appreciative of everything I've been given in life already.
41:06Even to be here and make it to the top six, that's huge.
41:10Good luck to you guys.
41:11Really.
41:12And now if I'm dead, keep doing good runway shows, right?
41:16Bye, guys.
41:16Bye.
41:18Bye.
41:19Do you want to go all the way to the end?
41:21Absolutely.
41:21But, you know, something else is in the cards.
41:24I have to look at the positive and be thankful that not only did I get to be on Project Runway,
41:29but I'm an all-star, too.
41:30Next on Project Runway All-Stars.
41:36Welcome to Fifth Avenue.
41:38Your challenge is to create a ready-to-wear wow look.
41:42What?
41:42That feels to me like a lazy designer.
41:45I just feel really discouraged.
41:47You have to fight.
41:49You're not a loser.
41:50There's really no way to fix it.
41:51You won't have time to take it all out.
41:52But it looks like she's got a dump in her butt.
41:55No one wants to have a droopy breast.
41:57Is it enough from you?
41:59I say no.
42:01Again.
