00:00Previously on Project Runway All Stars.
00:04Welcome to the High Line.
00:05All Stars is going green.
00:06Oh, Lord.
00:08Diane Van Furstenberg is a judge.
00:10She's my idol.
00:11Hopefully, you're not in the bottom.
00:12Yeah, I hope not.
00:13Althea's dress, the design is so bad.
00:17My dress is a terrible mess.
00:18I'm embarrassed.
00:19It's not a dress I envisioned.
00:24It's something I shouldn't like, but I like it.
00:26It's called Forbidden Fruit.
00:28Really well done.
00:31I think anyone's gonna feel good in that.
00:33The winner is Laura Kathleen.
00:37This is the worst that fabric has ever looked.
00:39I can see your battle with it.
00:41It's Marie Antoinette meets Frederic of Hollywood.
00:44Althea, you're out.
00:46Okay.
00:4813 of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
00:52Back for more.
00:53Back for blood.
00:55Admit it, you missed them.
00:57And this time, the competition is tougher than ever.
01:00This is war.
01:02Each week, their skills are tested to the limit.
01:05Hideous or fabulous.
01:07This is not a game.
01:08Nothing gets past me.
01:10Who will be cut and who will have it all sewn up?
01:13This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:17The winning designer will have the chance to create a custom branded capsule collection with
01:21Nine West.
01:22The winner will also receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and a position as
01:25contributing editor for one year.
01:28From Laura Mercier, an all-expenses-paid trip around the world to Fashion Week such as Paris,
01:33London, Milan, and Tokyo.
01:35A technology suite and office space from HP and Intel to bring their creativity to life
01:40and run their business.
01:41A sewing and embroidery studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery to help launch their line.
01:45And a cash prize of $150,000.
01:55We're walking up to meet Carolyn at the South Street Seaport and there's some really amazing
01:59ships in the background.
02:01So I'm kind of thinking maybe we'll jump on board and have some pirate theme challenge.
02:06Good morning, designers.
02:08Morning.
02:09Welcome to New York's busy harbor.
02:11It's incredible here, isn't it?
02:12Beautiful.
02:13This is South Street Seaport and the location for your next challenge.
02:18Before you find out what that challenge is, we have a special guest.
02:22International jeweler to the stars, Fawaz Grozy is known for the highest craftsmanship of
02:28watches and jewelry like these.
02:31Oh, that's beautiful.
02:33That's gorgeous.
02:34Please welcome Fawaz Grozy.
02:36Woo!
02:37Welcome to All Stars, Fawaz.
02:39Good morning.
02:41I'm very thrilled to be here today.
02:42I'm being a designer myself and I look forward to meet the winner later.
02:46I want to give this beautiful watch.
02:48So you're going to give the winning designer at the end of this challenge a watch?
02:52Exactly.
02:53An amazing watch.
02:54Oh my God.
02:55That's amazing.
02:56A watch.
02:57Oh my God.
02:58That's an amazing prize.
02:59I want that watch.
03:01This is the challenge that every project runway designer loves to hate, but every viewer wants
03:07to watch.
03:08It's the unconventional challenge.
03:11So this is the unconventional challenge that I've not been looking forward to, because
03:15in my season, I did not do well with it and I almost went home.
03:19Everyone knows my infamous birdseed dress for my season.
03:22But I didn't win that challenge, so I really want to win this one.
03:26Inside Pier 17 is a store that happens to have everything you need.
03:31Your job is to create an amazing design using only the materials found in the store.
03:37And here's the twist.
03:39No one should know the materials came from the store.
03:42Unconventional challenge is not my favorite.
03:45I don't use to make garments out of .
03:49You have $350, but only 30 minutes in the store, so you need to make sure you use it
03:55wisely.
03:56And one of your judges this week is a singer famous for wearing innovative looks.
04:01She's one of the biggest selling female artists in the world.
04:05Australian icon, Kylie Minogue.
04:10You've got to be kidding.
04:11I love her music.
04:13I love her.
04:14She is beautiful.
04:16She's talented.
04:17Oh, my God.
04:18It's Kylie Minogue, like.
04:20This is probably the biggest judge in Project Runway history.
04:23Your time starts now.
04:29Oh, my God.
04:30What is standing directly in front of me?
04:33A Christmas store.
04:34What?
04:35Oh.
04:36Merry Christmas, everybody.
04:37Oh, my goodness.
04:38It's Christmas.
04:39Come on.
04:4030 minutes in a Christmas store.
04:41I don't know how I'm going to do it.
04:42You have to buy a thousand things to make sure your dress is covered completely in Christmas
04:55without looking like Christmas.
04:56Oh, my God.
04:57This is so hard.
04:58This is so stressful.
04:59I'm really looking for ornaments that can be broken down, pieces within one piece.
05:04You'll never know that it was ever a train.
05:06Ladies and gentlemen, we have 10 minutes left.
05:09Yeah, they're really pretty.
05:10How much are they a piece?
05:11I am thinking about making a little, like, 60s mod straight cute dress and making it look
05:17like they're beating on it.
05:19So, my first thought is find everything pretty in silver.
05:22I don't want anything that says Christmas.
05:25I'm staying right here in the pink aisle.
05:28My strategy is to go as far away from Christmas colors as possible.
05:34Girls and boys, we have one more minute left.
05:37Thank you, Santa.
05:38I've seen a very good girl this season.
05:41With all this silver, gold, and glitter, what I can do?
05:46A live piñata, right?
05:49So, I'm grabbing everything red and gold, but I have no idea what I would do with all this stuff.
05:56Okay, everybody.
05:57Time's up.
05:58$2.99.
05:59Oh, my God.
06:00Thank you so much.
06:02A big, fat, white man that climbs through your chimney in the middle of the night would get shot in my neighborhood.
06:10We call those burglars.
06:12So, I want to create a flapper-esque dress that's more mini and create a really beautiful movement and texture with some of the garland that I've got.
06:36Too much work, Ivy.
06:38No, it's not.
06:39You guys should have come here as one person.
06:42Shh.
06:43Ivy and Casanova, they're like one person and two bodies.
06:47I think it's very helpful, but I wonder what they're going to do if one of them goes home.
06:52I'm done.
06:53I already have my outfit.
06:55It's a skirt.
06:56Let me try it on.
06:57It's a poncho.
06:59I'm done.
07:01I've worn one out as a cape.
07:03Oh, my God.
07:04This is what I got for $350.
07:07You know what I'm saying?
07:08Like, I don't really have any fabric, fabric.
07:11Except this.
07:12And this is only 10 yards.
07:13And this.
07:14And that's the casing.
07:15I thought it was all blue.
07:17I see this great, shiny material.
07:20So I'm thinking it's a roll of blue material.
07:23I'm like, oh, gorgeous.
07:24But then come to find out, this little blue sheath unfolds to this.
07:30Now, I love a good menorah.
07:32And I'm not afraid to light a candle.
07:34But I'm not sure what I am going to do with all of this.
07:39Happy Annika!
07:40You're me.
07:42What are you going to do with that?
07:48What all did you get?
07:49The whole store.
07:51In the last challenge, Diane from Furstenberg told me, don't go away from the trimmings.
07:56Don't go away from the feathers.
07:58This is your thing.
07:59You should make a collection.
08:00So I'm going to make a whole dress just with embellishments.
08:03Ooh, so pretty.
08:05A lot of sparkle.
08:06Sparkle, sparkle.
08:07Sparkle, sparkle.
08:08He said no Christmas colors.
08:10It's some valentine colors.
08:12It's not Christmas.
08:13It's valentine colors.
08:14That's true.
08:15It's the color of love.
08:16Unconventional challenge is not my favorite.
08:19I bought a bunch of those expensive poinsettias.
08:23And I don't know how I'm going to cover the whole dress, but I will do it.
08:28My idea of a bralette, you know, is kind of a mix between a sports bra meets a bustier meets an everyday bra.
08:36Josh has some difficult ornaments to work with.
08:39I'm a little worried for Josh at this point.
08:43Unconventional challenges are my Achilles heel.
08:46It's just something that my brain does not compute.
08:51Ooh.
08:52I thought this Christmas stuff wasn't supposed to be flammable.
08:55I guess they're not thinking that we're going to make clothing out of this stuff.
08:58This is so bad.
09:00The worst.
09:01Oh, my God.
09:03Ooh.
09:04Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
09:07This competition is about who deserves it.
09:09I need a plan C.
09:11Casanova is on his fur dress.
09:13He seems a little frantic.
09:15I got to figure out how I'm going to make this clothes.
09:27I'm like, I think I'm gluing her or sewing her in.
09:29Oh, you're going to, oh.
09:30I didn't even think about sewing her in.
09:32So the unconventional challenge is to make a garment with anything you can find within this Christmas store.
09:39But the tricky part is to not make your look resemble Christmas.
09:45Ow.
09:46The unconventional challenge.
09:48The one I've been dreading.
09:49This challenge is really exciting for me just because it really lets us as designers think outside of the box.
09:55Uncle Mentional challenge is always my weakness.
09:58Ugh.
09:59Designers, I know it's going to be a tough week, but you are extremely capable of pulling something fantastic out of the bag.
10:09Joshua, is this all you've got?
10:12Yeah.
10:13Okay.
10:14It's kind of crazy.
10:15My heart is beating for you.
10:16So what are you planning?
10:17Um, I'm working on a little structured bralette.
10:20Right.
10:21Where are you going to use these?
10:22These are from a train, so I'm going to actually.
10:24Okay, so we've got a little epaulette.
10:26Well, what's going on the bottom?
10:27I mean, I have this ribbon, which I would possibly make into kind of like a high-waisted short.
10:33So the bottom half of Josh's look, I'm not quite sure where it is.
10:38So I'm kind of worried about it.
10:39I'm just looking around the room and seeing some people that are pulling together more considered outfits.
10:45But they can't do Josh like I can do Josh.
10:48Casanova.
10:49Hi.
10:50Hello, what are you doing?
10:51I catch you in the act of deconstruction.
10:53Yes.
10:54What's happening?
10:55Because that is horrible.
10:56I actually thought from far away, it looked good.
10:59You want to wear this dress?
11:01No.
11:02Of course I don't want to wear that dress.
11:05There are people that love to build things out of glue.
11:08I'm not that person.
11:09But I know I will find a way.
11:12All right, I'm dying to see what you're going to do with it.
11:15Emilio.
11:16Hello.
11:17I would not know this remotely came from a Christmas store.
11:19And that was my point.
11:20When I searched the store, I wanted to make sure that my color palette had nothing to do with Christmas.
11:25Okay, that wasn't good.
11:26So no red or gold.
11:27Right.
11:28And I found this purple, pink, and silver butterfly dragonfly.
11:33I don't know what they were, but they were interesting enough that I just went with it.
11:37Tell me about the rest of it.
11:38I'm using the ribbon.
11:39Then I'm going to do some sculptural shapes.
11:43But you can't just dress someone in ribbon and hope the ribbon's going to do all the work.
11:48Emilio's Christmas ribbon dress.
11:51I mean, what?
11:52Are we in design school?
11:54He's so not remotely close to innovative at all.
11:58Anthony.
11:59Hey, Miss Joanna.
12:00This is actually rather beautiful.
12:02It doesn't shriek Christmas.
12:03It shrieks winter.
12:04Since Kylie's a guest judge, I really wanted this idea of a stage dress.
12:08Something that she could do at a concert.
12:10So one thing I know I'll be using are these mirrored pieces.
12:13What I'll be doing is create this pattern at a focal point, say, within this dress.
12:20Right.
12:21It might make a nice kind of yoke up there.
12:23Right.
12:24You know, and I'll also have these snowflake pieces.
12:26Mm-hmm.
12:27It gives you something that's probably a little bit more graphic.
12:30What I think is really smart is the way that you've chosen everything in the same color palette.
12:34I do feel like Anthony Ryan's kind of mimicking Uli's design.
12:39I mean, this is Uli's signature.
12:40It's what she's known for.
12:41Anthony Ryan always likes inspiration from other people's designs.
12:44Right.
12:45Good luck.
12:46You've got glitter all over your face.
12:47I know.
12:48It's everywhere.
12:49Party time.
12:50Hi, Joanna.
12:51Uli.
12:52I think this is, like, my kind of a challenge.
12:53I'm really excited about it.
12:54Well, this looks a little bit, to me, a bit like your 70s dress, doesn't it?
12:58Yeah.
12:59The basic shape is kind of the same.
13:01This is going to be a little more structured.
13:04So that they don't think you're just doing the same dress.
13:06Yeah.
13:07Like, these pieces I deconstructed.
13:09It doesn't look like a star anymore.
13:11No, it doesn't.
13:12It becomes kind of like a cool structure.
13:14Yeah, like a great applique.
13:15Yeah.
13:16When I look at Uli and Anthony's dresses, I think that there are some cool ideas in them,
13:21but I feel like they just bought a lot of the same color palette and threw it on a dress.
13:27I think this looks pretty spectacular, actually.
13:29Thank you so much.
13:30Laura Kathleen.
13:31Hi.
13:32Congratulations on last week.
13:34It's one of the biggest moments for me in fashion so far.
13:37And the prize for this one's amazing.
13:39Fawaz Grozi told us that the winner gets one of his amazing watches.
13:44This competition isn't about who needs it or whatnot.
13:47It's about who deserves it.
13:48So if I have the best design, then I deserve it.
13:51Okay, so when I first saw it Christmas, I thought there has to be some sparkly things that can make me make this sort of look like a beaded dress.
13:57I kind of want these to be just dripping down from it sporadically, and the silver will kind of contour her back.
14:03So it's got a sort of 60s vibe to it.
14:05But modern.
14:06And the cool thing is that she's going to have pockets again.
14:08Oh, that is cool.
14:09I think the girls are ahead in this challenge.
14:12Ivy, hello.
14:13Hi.
14:14What are we doing with this?
14:15I got this garland to create a fringe texture on the dress.
14:20Okay.
14:21I'm hoping that I have enough of this.
14:22Right.
14:23It doesn't look like you do.
14:24I'm hoping that I can spread it out enough where it looks like it's balanced.
14:27I like the idea of what you're doing.
14:29I think it's really creative, and I would not know it was from a Christmas shop.
14:34Designers, I know you only have these unconventional things to design with.
14:40Remember, you have the Nine West accessories wall to add to your look.
14:44Okay.
14:45Good luck, everybody.
14:48Bye.
14:49Bye.
14:50My plan B is terrible, so I need a plan C. But how I can make a dress with this stuff?
15:01Casanova, he's got some interesting materials, and it's going to look like a Christmas tree.
15:05You're going to start over again?
15:06Yes.
15:07Okay.
15:08Casanova, we've got, like, three hours left.
15:09I'm okay, baby.
15:10I'm okay.
15:11Hello.
15:12Hi.
15:13So we've been shopping in the Christmas store.
15:14Yeah.
15:15But it's not supposed to look like Christmas.
15:16The guest judge is Kylie Minogue.
15:17So I'm doing, like, this whole idea of a stage dress, like a costume.
15:30I'm going to need to stuff these things.
15:31Can you bring some covers?
15:32Yeah.
15:33Oh my God, this is so cool.
15:35We are all running out of time right now, and the models come in, and they're basically
15:40our elves in Santa's little sweatshop.
15:42And we're putting them to work because we need to get this done.
15:49Casanova is on his fur dress by now.
15:52Every time I turn around, there's another dress.
15:54And he seems a little frantic.
15:56I don't think he has a direction for this challenge.
15:59Hi, baby.
16:00Mwah.
16:02Bye, honey.
16:03Bye, guys.
16:04Have a good one.
16:05Bye.
16:13So at the end of the night, I have nothing for Plan C, but I need to do something.
16:16So what I have to do, take a look under the trash can, looking through the floor.
16:21Like, I need to make it work.
16:24Five freaking minutes to go home, guys.
16:26Oh, my God.
16:27Five.
16:28Oh, I'm screwed.
16:29I think I have an advantage, but I also think the pressure is on so much more because everybody's
16:38like, oh, this is Uli's challenge.
16:41There's a lot of ice on me right now.
16:44Time's up, guy.
16:45We have to go back to night hotel.
16:46Oh, hi.
16:47Hi.
16:48Oh, my God.
16:49I'm in trouble.
16:50I think all of us are.
16:52How are you guys feeling about your looks?
17:03I'm excited.
17:04I'm happy with how mine turned out.
17:06My fingers are a little burnt.
17:08It looks beautiful.
17:09What do you think about Emilio?
17:11I was like surprised.
17:12I was a little surprised.
17:13I don't know why he went for purple.
17:16And the weaving and the full skirt and the butterfly.
17:19Yeah, I was shocked about the choices.
17:22My only concern is that I'm using only fabrics.
17:26And when it's unconventional.
17:28You have to add something that's non-conventional.
17:32What I can do?
17:33I have to swipe the floor and see what is going on.
17:36See who's having a garage sale.
17:38No.
17:39Seriously.
17:40I'm not kidding.
17:41Go around the room and be like, who's having a garage sale?
17:43Because I need to do something here and something there.
17:45I mean, to be honest, you really do need to put something...
17:48Non-conventional.
17:49Yeah.
17:50Because they're going to nail you on just using fabric.
17:55Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
17:58There's quite some trouble in the room.
18:00No, I need it for it to cover the bottom of the skirt.
18:03Nothing is working.
18:05This thing is a mess.
18:07We have two hours.
18:08All right, guys.
18:09Let's plug in our glue guns.
18:10Let the gluing begin.
18:11Morning on the runway, I decide I can't stitch the ribbon on.
18:28I'm going to have to glue it on.
18:30Never in my career have I ever glued a dress together.
18:33First time for everything.
18:38I could have got more to fill, but it's too late now.
18:41But what about me?
18:42Everything is from the trash.
18:44The morning on the runway, my look is almost half done.
18:49Hey guys, I will be recycling in a minute.
18:53So what I have to do?
18:54Request donations from other designers and I will do a recycling dress.
19:00You can take these four disco balls.
19:03Should it be smaller?
19:05It was my own fault to not buy something that was actually fabric based.
19:10So I'm resorting to the colorful ribbon that I bought to make the bottom shorts.
19:16What can I do?
19:20Girl, I am glueing.
19:22I didn't expect you to look like this.
19:24You look so good.
19:26Thanks.
19:27Shorts.
19:28Couldn't afford more ornaments.
19:30I know.
19:41Lashes, beautiful eyes, wine lips.
19:44Make her look like a doll.
19:45Black Barbie.
19:46Laura Merci has some great eye shadow colors.
19:49So I really want dramatic eyes.
19:54I want to keep the part in the middle, board straight, something very clean.
19:58Like start thick.
19:59And then go all the way around the base.
20:01I have some amazing metal that came off one of the ornaments.
20:04So I think it'd be great to wrap the pony in this gold metal.
20:09Hey guys, one hour left.
20:14There's a whole Christmas tree clued on this dress.
20:17It was exactly what I had in my head.
20:19But I also see Laura Kathleen has a very strong dress.
20:22And Anthony Ryan's dress looks amazing.
20:25Very similar, but in a different way.
20:27Ivy's dress reads kind of old.
20:32I think it really reads that 40 to death demographic.
20:36Please don't send that down the runway.
20:39My design aesthetic is always take away rather than adding more.
20:44With so much glitter and so much adding with all the other designers,
20:47maybe perhaps I could be on the top on this one because it's so clean.
20:50This has to be the only metal.
20:53No, I need it for it to cover the bottom of the skirt.
20:57There's quite some trouble in the room.
20:59I think Joshua's top part is pretty cool.
21:02But then his bottom part is a little bit of a train wreck.
21:06I, of course, notice, you know, the flaws within the shorts.
21:10But I'm praying by some grace of God that the top can carry me through.
21:15This thing is a mess.
21:18I am having a meltdown figuratively and literally.
21:23I'm going through glue gun after glue gun and nothing is working.
21:28Emilio's completely frantic.
21:33He's, like, rumbling and he's angry.
21:36And, you know, you might be going home if you can't pull this together.
21:47I'm going to go a little shorter.
21:48Okay, guys, five minutes to runway.
21:51My new dress is not the cutest thing,
21:54but my biggest concern is that it doesn't look unconventional at all.
22:03The crappiest thing I've ever done in my life.
22:05Hey, guys, time's up. Let's head to the runway.
22:10Right now.
22:15Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
22:18We've got the ba-dum, but I would have liked a bit from the hip as well.
22:21You have a tendency to go old lady.
22:24I feel your panic.
22:25Ouch.
22:32Oh, wow.
22:37Welcome back to the runway.
22:39This week you faced the unconventional challenge.
22:42You had to create a non-Christmas look using materials found only from a Christmas store.
22:48Not so easy, is it?
22:50Mmm.
22:51Mmm.
22:52Let's meet the judges.
22:53First, designer and co-founder of Marquesa, the beautiful Georgina Chapman.
22:58Hi, designers.
23:02And we have one of the most famous names in fashion, designer Isaac Mizrahi.
23:07Hi.
23:09Hi.
23:11Our first guest judge can be seen both on the small screen and the silver screen.
23:17Please welcome actor and producer, Lala Anthony.
23:21Hey, guys.
23:25Last but not least, we have a very special guest.
23:28She is one of the world's most successful female recording artists.
23:33Her fashion style has influenced pop culture worldwide for over 25 years.
23:39Please welcome to Project Runway All-Stars, Miss Kylie Minogue.
23:44Hi, guys.
23:45The winning designer will receive that beautiful watch from De Grisogono.
23:52The judges are looking for innovation and creativity and definitely not Christmas.
24:00So let's see how you did.
24:02Have a great show.
24:04My model looks great.
24:11I'm like, ooh.
24:13It looks really cool.
24:20I pushed the boundaries and I took it to another place and I'm very happy about it.
24:29My design is very simple to me.
24:32It's a matter of taste and perspective and I'm just hoping that the judges like it.
24:49Even though there are flaws within the shorts, the top is done beautifully and I'm hoping that the judges will be able to applaud that.
24:59I really took a risk.
25:00I did something extremely innovative and I don't think that it reads Christmas Store at all.
25:09My model looks smashing.
25:10It's more than I was expecting.
25:12I think my dress is everything that I wanted to show the judges.
25:21I think my dress is everything that I wanted to show the judges.
25:25Right now I'm seeing my entire season flash before my eyes because I'm so angry at myself for allowing myself to get to this position.
25:39I'm just praying to God that I am safe.
25:42My design is not that cute but I did my best with the leftovers of the other contestant and that's it.
25:55It's about a little bit of luck.
26:04I really want to stay in the competition.
26:06My model, she looks absolutely beautiful.
26:14The dress looks clean.
26:15It looks sleek.
26:16It's very wearable.
26:17And I'm thinking this is innovative because all of this stuff came from a Christmas store.
26:29I'm thinking this is what I want to do.
26:30I'm thinking this is what I want to do.
26:31I'm thinking this is what I want to do.
26:32I'm thinking this is what I want to do.
26:33Designers, you really proved today that you're able to think outside the box.
26:38The runway was incredible.
26:40Well done.
26:41Casanova.
26:42Ivy.
26:43Emilio.
26:44One of you is safe.
26:46And that designer is Emilio.
26:59You can leave the runway.
27:00Thank you very much.
27:01For the rest of you, one of you has this week's highest score and will be the winner.
27:11And one of you has the lowest score and will be going home tonight.
27:16Let's bring out your models.
27:27Anthony Ryan.
27:28Essentially we were introduced to the challenge and we found out Kylie would be here.
27:31So I knew I really wanted to do a stage piece, something that if you were a fan sitting in the nosebleeds, you'd know that was her.
27:39I love the color of this dress.
27:41It looks extremely expensive to me.
27:43I mean, it looks like it could come down a Paris runway.
27:45I swear to God.
27:46I like the pauses you've taken with the embellishment where it goes flat.
27:50I think it gives it a sense of relief and it also gives it a sense of cleanliness and that's what I really like.
27:55Lala.
27:56When I first saw her come down the runway, I was completely blown away by it.
28:00Now looking at it up close, there are parts of it that read Christmas to me.
28:05It's some of the snowflake detail around the belt and the shoulders.
28:08What I find really interesting about your looks, Anthony Ryan, is that you seem to have created this length and I applaud you on that.
28:15Miss Kylie Minogue.
28:17You mentioned being a performance piece.
28:19You would definitely see that in the rafters.
28:21I really love the bottom and I, that might have come out the wrong way.
28:26That looks amazing, the hem of the dress and that's what really caught my eye.
28:30Like, Laura Kathleen.
28:32I love beading, so I wanted to make a dress that looked like she could walk in the room and you thought, okay, this girl's wearing a beaded dress.
28:39My favorite thing about this dress is the pockets.
28:43When she reached the end of the runway and then did the pocket thing, that excited me.
28:48Some of the droplets from here down, they look a bit big and just a bit thrown on there.
28:54I really, really like this dress a lot.
28:56It looks like you had a plan and you plotted out exactly how you were going to do it.
29:00I love the shape in the back.
29:02Could you turn around, please?
29:03I think that makes it more fresh.
29:06I have major criticisms for it.
29:08Okay.
29:09I do.
29:10I think she looks fat.
29:11Oh.
29:12And that is not a fat girl.
29:13Oh, no.
29:14Somehow, the cut of the dress and the embellishments of the dress on the side, she looks thick through the middle.
29:18If you flip the embroidery, if you put the light embroidery at the top and the darker silver lower, I think that would have made the world of difference.
29:25Okay.
29:27Casanova.
29:28This is the third look that I make.
29:31My first look, Scream Santa Claus.
29:34I do a second look that looked so horrible.
29:37So at the end, I have not stuffed.
29:39This whole look is from the leftovers of all the other contestants.
29:43Oh, you recycle.
29:45You recycle.
29:46So it's a green dress.
29:47I like this so much more now I know your story.
29:50I think you did the best out of a bad situation.
29:53It just feels a little heavy handed.
29:55The bust feels a bit high and the sides with all the draping.
29:59I would say you need to consider the age of the end user.
30:02That ropey kind of espadrille thing is so fresh and so unexpected, right?
30:06But next to what you have it next to, it goes very, very old lady.
30:11The top part is making me think of Gautier.
30:14I love what you did there.
30:16The central panel seems to go out over the belly and then in.
30:21And if my stylist tried to put that on me, I'd just go, well, Joshua.
30:29The fact that it was unconventional, I thought to myself, you know, this is the one challenge.
30:33Like really just push it, throw it out there.
30:35I will say congratulations and I will like slap you on the wrist at the same time.
30:41Because the top half of that is just so divine.
30:44I can't even believe you came up with it.
30:45It's just great.
30:46And then come the shorts.
30:48You know, when she walked down, I could like literally see inside.
30:52It doesn't really work to show a woman's privates on the runway.
30:57Okay.
30:58I love the breast piece and I love the way that you've used color.
31:02Sorry, can you turn around?
31:04The area in the back is a real issue.
31:07Because is it meant to be a short or a skirt?
31:10Yeah, it's a short, but...
31:11It is a short.
31:12It just made me a little uncomfortable because I wasn't sure if it was coming off
31:15or whether it was staying on.
31:16It's not going anywhere.
31:18The top, I'm crazy about.
31:20I just wish more of that was happening here.
31:22To feel that kind of power and hotness down here as well.
31:27Okay.
31:28We've got the ba-dum, but I would have liked a bit from the hip as well.
31:31All right.
31:32Ivy.
31:33I started out with a Christmas tree duster.
31:36The top of this is one garland.
31:39This is a second garland and a third garland.
31:41I really like the idea behind this.
31:43She looks like a 60s woman.
31:44I expect her to be drinking a martini and smoking a cigarette.
31:48What's bothering me is there are a few proportions that are off here.
31:51I think the line that's cut with the keyhole here doesn't look the most expensive.
31:56And I really want you to watch your seams.
31:58Your eye focuses on them on that fabric and it's making her look very boxy.
32:02It's a very sweet dress, but it doesn't have the wow factor to me.
32:06I don't find it very innovative.
32:08The problem with this dress to me is that base gold fabric that you're using,
32:13that kind of flat nothing gold fabric.
32:15Also, you're saying it's a 60s cocktail dress, but it would be like a junior 60s
32:20because the waist is a little bit too high.
32:22Right.
32:23Uli.
32:24I went to the Christmas store and I grabbed everything that's like silver, gold,
32:29everything in between.
32:30I made a body dress first.
32:32Then I just kept adding until everything was covered.
32:36And you basically have the whole Christmas tree here.
32:39Uli, you have a signature.
32:41It's like I could tell a dress of yours in a room now.
32:44The way you mix these things together is like magic.
32:47Can you turn around, please?
32:49My problem with it is the hem and back goes very long,
32:52especially when you have all that embroidery.
32:54It looks like the embroidery is weighing it down.
32:56I think it's absolutely stunning.
32:58I love that it's not silver or gold.
33:01I think what gives you a nice break from everything on the front
33:04is those beautiful sheer panels.
33:06I love the sneaker peak on the side.
33:08What is that again that you use?
33:10That's like mesh you like wrap around the Christmas tree
33:13because I thought if I do the whole dress, it's going to get too heavy.
33:16So I wanted some sheer and some lightness to it.
33:19I think the way that you've mixed the silver and gold is very smart.
33:22You've highlighted areas and you've pushed back areas.
33:25Sorry, can you turn to the side?
33:27Just be a little aware of if the size is going to be see-through,
33:31but it would have been nice not to have a seam running through that.
33:34Designers, we're going to have a little debate
33:37and then we'll see you in a little while.
33:39Let's begin with our high scores.
33:46Let's start with Anthony Ryan.
33:48I was very happy with Anthony this week.
33:51It felt so expensive and yet it had a cleanliness and a breath to it.
33:55It's cool. It's modern.
33:57And that length just makes me wild, but in a really good way.
34:00To me, it felt a little Christmassy with the snowflake belt
34:03and the snowflakes on the shoulders.
34:04And then the minute she turned around, you got what those pieces were about.
34:08He really did that magic where the back of the dress
34:11was almost better than the front of the dress.
34:14That dress looked like he really knew what he was doing.
34:17Definitely.
34:18Is it something you would wear?
34:19I would. As a matter of fact, I want to borrow it.
34:21I'll distract him. You grab it.
34:23Okay, that's perfect.
34:26I will say something about Uli's dress this week.
34:29Something about the hem in the back
34:31did make the embroidery look a little bit heavy.
34:33It was a little heavy.
34:35It was dropped low, but it was pretty perfect.
34:38Her proportions were so good and it felt young and it felt light.
34:42I was just speechless about it, the structured shoulders.
34:45I liked where she had that trim that gave a nice little illusion.
34:48It came in at the waist.
34:50And she gets her girl right every time.
34:55Laura Kathleen.
34:56The dress itself, the proportions weren't great.
34:58The placement of the beading wasn't fabulous.
35:00It was a perfectly okay dress in my mind.
35:03It didn't feel unconventional.
35:04No.
35:05It felt moderate to me.
35:06It felt like a moderate beaded dress as opposed to like a really expensive genius beaded dress.
35:11But there's something to be said about the intricacy it took to create that kind of beading.
35:16I'd be interested to know how heavy the dresses were to wear.
35:20That's true.
35:21Certainly Anthony's and Uli's was so intricate, but they didn't look like they were weighing down the model.
35:27Whereas Laura Kathleen's did have a heavy sense about it.
35:31So now the hard part.
35:34When Ivy's dress walked out, I thought it didn't work in so many ways.
35:39It was a little bit flimsy and it was a bit like a plucked chicken.
35:42It could have just twinkled and been so light and lovely.
35:44It's supposed to be creative.
35:45That dress was so safe to me.
35:47It's true.
35:48It's not always about having the most embellishments on it.
35:50So I think it is creative to take elements and be able to quieten them down.
35:54When Joshua's look walked down the runway, visually that was amazing.
36:02It was unconventional.
36:03It was innovative.
36:04But those shorts were a disaster.
36:07Disaster.
36:08What woman wants their waist looking fatter?
36:11All their private showing.
36:13And a tail flapping at the back.
36:15Was it a tail or a skirt or shorts?
36:17Was it a squirt?
36:18Kylie, you're known for the hot pants, aren't you?
36:22Yes, my name is synonymous with a hot pant, but I don't think I would want to wear that
36:27hot pant.
36:30Here's the issue with Casanova.
36:32I know it doesn't matter the circumstance or what happened, but for him to create that
36:37out of the circumstance, to me, you've got to give some credit there for that.
36:42Yeah.
36:43But he put himself in that situation to begin with.
36:45I mean, he chose all those bad things to begin with.
36:47Right.
36:48It was an ill-conceived dress.
36:49I know it showed some creativity.
36:51He showed talent in the top and the braiding part.
36:55He just showed me that he has the potential.
37:01So if we made a decision?
37:02Yeah.
37:03Okay.
37:04Let's bring them out.
37:06Designers.
37:07One of you will be in this week's winner.
37:19And sadly, one of you will be going home.
37:20Designers.
37:21One of you will be in this week's winner.
37:23And sadly, one of you will be going home.
37:36Laura Kathleen.
37:37You're safe.
37:40You can leave the runway.
37:45Uli and Anthony Ryan.
37:48One of you is this week's winner and will receive that beautiful watch from De Grisogono.
37:54And that designer is...
37:57Kylie.
38:01The winner is Uli.
38:04No.
38:05Oh, thank you so much.
38:08Congratulations.
38:09I should be jumping up and down.
38:12Well, you created a stunning look.
38:14That was the challenge I really enjoyed.
38:16To leave the runway.
38:19I just wanted this win so badly.
38:22To get it really shows me I can win this whole competition.
38:26I could actually win the whole prize.
38:30And that means Anthony Ryan, you're also safe.
38:36Great job.
38:37Congratulations.
38:41Guess who's going to have the best one?
38:42Oh, my God.
38:46Congratulations, sweetie.
38:48Oh, my goodness.
38:49Here we are, as promised.
38:52Thank you so much.
38:54And this is The Grisogono Watch.
38:56Oh, my God.
38:57That's exactly my style.
39:00This is beautiful.
39:02Wow.
39:04Oh, my goodness.
39:06Oh, my goodness.
39:08I will have this forever.
39:09I'll think of you when I'm famous.
39:15Casanova, Ivy, Joshua, one of you will be going home.
39:27Thanks, guys.
39:28Appreciate it.
39:29Bye.
39:30Ivy, Casanova, one of you will be in and one of you will be out.
39:40Ivy, we really believe in you as a designer.
39:42But this is the unconventional challenge, and you played it way too safe.
39:47To be an all-star, you've got to be willing to take a risk.
39:52Casanova, we were really impressed with your braiding and your ability to make something out of nothing.
39:59But we could feel the torture in your design.
40:03It was ill-conceived from the beginning, no matter whose materials you used.
40:08Ivy, you are in, which means I'm sorry to say, Casanova, you are out.
40:22Thank you, Ivy.
40:23You stay in the competition.
40:24You may leave the runway.
40:26Although I'm grateful to still be in the competition, honestly, I wish I could trade places with Casanova,
40:34because he's one of the best people that I know, and he's one of my very good friends.
40:37Casanova, thank you so much for being a part of All Stars.
40:43You've worked so hard, and you know what?
40:46I think you're going to do amazing things.
40:48It was a pleasure to meet you.
40:49It was lovely to meet you, too.
40:50Pleasure.
40:52Bye.
40:53Casanova.
41:01I'm leaving, but she...
41:02I'm touched to see others crying because I'm going home.
41:12That means a lot for me.
41:14Oh, damn.
41:15Oh, my God.
41:16I'm going to choke on your fur.
41:19I'm thinking what I need to learn from being eliminated in the same way that I've been eliminated before.
41:25There's a message behind that that I need to think about it and learn, but it's going to take time.
41:30Next, on Project Runway All Stars...
41:31Let's make this a fashion face-off.
41:40The fashion face-off of the two blondes.
41:43This is a competition.
41:44I'm going to kick her ass.
41:45Teeth and claws are out.
41:46What would you give his?
41:47A five.
41:48A five?
41:49If I'm a five, she's somewhere in the negative.
41:50It's neither sexy nor sensual.
41:51It's just not that interesting, period.
41:52It's such a sad miss.
41:53This week, you just went wrong.
