00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:03Your challenge is to create an androgynous look for your model.
00:07Oh, no, no.
00:08And I'm going to give you a bit of a twist.
00:10Oh, no.
00:12Oh, .
00:13Oh, my god.
00:14Oh.
00:15You're going to need to do two looks now.
00:17Don't party.
00:18Don't party.
00:20Did you just say there wasn't much ballroom?
00:23Listen, this is too much.
00:26Believe me, I know.
00:30It's sick in a good way.
00:32There's a lot of attention to detail here.
00:34I think there's a richness to this.
00:36Emilio is the winner of this challenge.
00:38I mean, everything's wrong.
00:40The textiles look inexpensive.
00:42I almost would rather see his jacket on her.
00:45Atrocious, okay?
00:47One of you will be going home tonight.
00:49Kane, you're out.
00:5113 of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
00:56Back for more.
00:57Back for blood.
00:59Admit it.
01:00You missed them.
01:01And this time, the competition is tougher than ever.
01:05This is warmth.
01:07Each week, their skills are tested to the limit.
01:10Hideous or fabulous.
01:12This is not a game.
01:13Nothing gets past me.
01:15Who will be cut?
01:16And who will have it all sewn up?
01:18This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:22The winning designer will have the chance to create a custom-branded capsule collection
01:25with Nine West.
01:26The winner will also receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire Magazine and a position as
01:30Contributing Editor for one year.
01:32From Laura Mercier, an all-expenses-paid trip around the world to Fashion Week such as Paris,
01:38London, Milan, and Tokyo.
01:40A technology suite and office space from HP and Intel to bring their creativity to life
01:44and run their business.
01:46A sewing and embroidery studio from Brother Sewing and Embroidery to help launch their line
01:50and a cash prize of $150,000.
01:53Last challenge was not a good challenge for me.
02:04I need to stick to my strengths, which is femininity, so that is what I'm trying to bring this week.
02:08Last week, I was in the middle again.
02:10I know that I've got to really be on my A-game for the remainder of this competition.
02:15We're walking up to meet Carolyn and I'm just soaking in the sun and all the vegetation.
02:20Oh, Lord, what is this challenge going to entail?
02:24Good morning, designers.
02:26Good morning.
02:27You've been working indoors for weeks, so we've decided that we'd bring you into the great outdoors of New York City.
02:33Love it.
02:35We just so happen to be on top of one of the most exciting parks in New York City.
02:39This is an elevated railway line that's been recycled into the incredible open space known as the High Line.
02:47With us are the co-founders of Friends of the High Line, Joshua David and Robert Hammond.
02:53Hi.
02:54Hi.
02:55Hi.
02:56Welcome to All Stars.
02:57Thanks.
02:59These are our designers.
03:00You want to tell them what we have here?
03:01This is the third northernmost section of the High Line at the Wet Side Railyard.
03:05This is what all of the High Line looked like when we first came up here in 1999 and really what inspired us to turn it into a park.
03:12And with the help of CSX Transportation, the railroad, our elected officials, and lots of other friends of the High Line, we opened the first section in 2009.
03:20Awesome.
03:21So you basically recycled the High Line.
03:24That's right.
03:25Exactly.
03:26Very cool.
03:27Now I know what you're all thinking.
03:28How on earth does this connect to a challenge?
03:30Yes.
03:31Right?
03:32Yeah.
03:33Well, All Stars is going green.
03:34Ooh.
03:35But not literally.
03:36Your job is to make a green dress for the red carpet.
03:40Oh.
03:41Oh.
03:42That means a beautiful red carpet look made in an environmentally friendly way.
03:48Air Dye Fabrics uses virtually no water or power when creating their fabrics.
03:53This reduces the environmental impact of your design but without compromising on style.
03:58Here I actually have a ring of Air Dye Swatches.
04:02You're going to pick one double-sided fabric each.
04:05So Emilio, you won last week's challenge.
04:08You'll get first pick.
04:09Yay.
04:10And then you'll choose who goes next.
04:11I think fabric is 90% of what you make.
04:14From my experience, solids and bright colors work better on the red carpet versus prints.
04:22Oh, thank you.
04:23You'll pick.
04:24The fabric that I choose is reversible.
04:27This is strawberry red inside.
04:29So I'm pretty happy.
04:31It's an eco-friendly print I'm choosing.
04:35It's like a bluish orangey black print.
04:38So I'm actually pretty excited.
04:41Oh, thank you.
04:42I'm choosing this fabric because I think that the print is really beautiful.
04:46It has a nice flow to it.
04:48I'm choosing this blue and purple two-sided fabric.
04:52I like the weight of it.
04:53I like that it will actually move on the runway.
04:56The fabric I choose is this really beautiful gold.
04:59And with that color, I get inspired by the sun.
05:01The reason why I choose the sun as an inspiration for my design is because I feel like a woman should feel like a star at a red carpet event.
05:10So I'm last to pick fabric.
05:12I get this, which is a chiffon that is kind of pink on one side and blue on the other.
05:18I would have really liked to come out with a bolder color choice.
05:21However, it'll push my design outside the box and what I would have normally gone to.
05:26Designers, you will also be recycling embellishments from your previous challenges.
05:31Oh.
05:32Our guest judge this week is a big supporter of the High Line.
05:37There's even a section named after her.
05:39She just so happens to be the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
05:46Thank God I chose this one.
05:48So I think you know exactly who I'm talking about, right?
05:51Diane von Furstenberg.
05:54I love Diane von Furstenberg.
05:56She's my idol.
05:57We love working with Diane.
05:59When we first started this project, people said it was an impossible dream.
06:03But Diane, with her vision and support, she helped make that dream come true.
06:08You know what?
06:09I actually love this challenge so much.
06:11I think that I would like to wear the winning design to my next red carpet event.
06:15What do you think?
06:16Wow.
06:17Woo!
06:18So let's show that you can go green on the red carpet.
06:22Your air dye fabrics are waiting for you back at 1407 Broadway.
06:26Enjoy the High Line, go sketch, and I'll see you back on the runway.
06:30Good luck.
06:34Let's sketch.
06:35I'm gonna sit right here.
06:41I generally do maxi dresses or short length dresses.
06:44This is definitely going to be a challenge for me.
06:47I want to do a lot of intricate detail and draping.
06:50I know that the judges are really looking for us as designers to really push ourselves.
06:55So I really hope that they appreciate my design.
06:58My inspiration is definitely bright colors, so it's perfect.
07:02I found the print that fits my aesthetic.
07:07I'm actually really drawing a lot of inspiration from the chiffon.
07:11I'm thinking how I can kind of utilize this to make it still form-fitted in areas.
07:17But I think I'm pushing it by having drapes across the shoulders and then also utilizing the chiffon at the bottom.
07:24Everybody just sprints to their lounge because that's where the trimmings are.
07:41Everyone run.
07:42Oh my goodness.
07:43Oh, there's an old fabric too.
07:45We all know that the recycled fabrics and notions and trims is limited.
07:51So we all want to get our first pick.
07:54Get that. Get it.
07:55Oh my God.
07:56I have a lot of...
07:57No, that goes with you.
07:58Hey, do we have fabric color left from somebody?
08:02It's a free-for-all.
08:03Everyone is pulling at stuff, just grabbing at it.
08:06It's like a yard sale.
08:07Is this all your trim, Lily?
08:08No.
08:09Of course.
08:11Should I drop it?
08:12I'll scramble through any of the trims that possibly are left, but I'm not going to necessarily depend on those.
08:18Because when you look at red carpet gowns, they're not necessarily covered in trim and feathers and embellishments.
08:26I think coming into the competition, I was still trying to find my footing.
08:31But now that I've won twice, I realize what attracts the judges to my work.
08:36And that's the bold use of color and my interesting use of silhouettes and shapes and forms.
08:43Last week I was on the bottom and Emilio won.
08:46I'm watching him work in the workroom.
08:48He certainly is a huge competition for me, but Emilio is a costume designer and there's a big difference between costume and fashion.
08:55Of course.
08:56Of course.
08:57Of course.
08:58Of course.
08:59Of course.
09:00Of course.
09:01Of course.
09:02The foundation.
09:03Chiffon is a very flimsy, airy fabric.
09:05So the first thing I do is build an undergarment that's going to go under the chiffon.
09:10So then the chiffon's not being forced to support the design.
09:15I don't know how Uli does.
09:17You look like a sábana.
09:18I can't wait to watch so that they have subtitles of what you guys are saying in English.
09:25We speak perfect clear English.
09:28Right?
09:29Oh my God.
09:32I think the strength for me in the competition is I kind of make the challenge fit what I do and not the other way around.
09:40So for this challenge, I want to make something light and happy.
09:44Make me lighter.
09:45My fabric looks like a rainy day.
09:50Quite depressing.
09:51I'm a little bit sad because it's darker than I thought it would be.
09:55So I don't know how I'm going to do this.
09:57I'm doing pants.
09:58Oh, you are?
09:59Like pants on a top.
10:00It's like pant dress.
10:02So it's like a romper, but it's a pant dress, but it's a...
10:05It doesn't look like a romper though.
10:07You'll see.
10:08Laura Kathleen is a killer designer and she takes risks and challenges herself.
10:13So I applaud her for being courageous in the fact that she's doing a jumper for the red carpet challenge.
10:20So I guess we'll see how that pans out.
10:22Good luck.
10:26Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
10:29I haven't even started my patterns yet.
10:31Wow.
10:32Yeah.
10:33Girl, you gotta start sewing.
10:34I feel so screwed.
10:35You are a DVS fan.
10:37So hopefully you're not in the bottom.
10:46Today's challenge is about making a green design using green fabric to wear on a red carpet.
10:52This is probably the most anticipated runway for me.
10:55Diane Van Furstenberg is a judge.
10:56She's a very straight to the point, blunt woman.
10:59She doesn't apologize for who she is.
11:01And she's my idol and I want something that she loves.
11:05You think I can do trimming and feathers again?
11:08This is your aesthetic, so you...
11:10No, it's also like...
11:11It's the recycling challenge, so...
11:14Whatever's in the bin, that's what I'm gonna use.
11:17It's time for an Uli explosion.
11:20That means a lot of extra embellishment to, like, pump up the volume on the dress.
11:27What's Uli doing?
11:28Oh, she's doing her feather trim collar thing.
11:33Really?
11:38I feel kind of stuck today, so I'm just trying to work through it.
11:43I don't work with chiffon a lot, and I'm not really sure how to put it together into a long dress,
11:50but I really want to show the judges something a little bit more flowy,
11:54and this is the time to do it.
11:57What I'm trying to do is an asymmetrical gown,
11:59and I know that I'm going to have so many pieces that I'm going to have to put together
12:03in a very short amount of time.
12:06On my season of Project Runway, I was eliminated for not finishing a runway look.
12:12for the red carpet.
12:13Oh, I need you to take it off.
12:15And, you know, I'm just really hoping that history doesn't repeat itself.
12:19Oh, my God.
12:23Hello, designers.
12:24Hi.
12:26I am excited that All Stars is embracing ecotech.
12:30It's such an important trend among fashion designers right now.
12:34And, of course, we've got Diane von Furstenberg in the judging chair.
12:38So, I know you're going to pull out everything you have.
12:41Laura Kathleen, I'm coming to you first.
12:43Oh, okay, great.
12:45You are a DVF fan.
12:47I am.
12:48And I've never gotten to meet her, so.
12:50So, now is your opportunity.
12:51I know.
12:52Well, hopefully not in the bottom three.
12:53Yeah, I hope not.
12:54All right, so show me your sketch.
12:56I wanted to do something a little bit different,
12:59and I'm actually going to do, like, pants for a red carpet look,
13:02but the pants are going to be so full when she walks,
13:05it's kind of like, is it a skirt or a pant?
13:08So, it's going to be like a palazzo pant with lots of moves.
13:10Good.
13:11I like wearing those.
13:12I must admit.
13:13I'm being really careful on making no mistakes.
13:15I want this to be really edited.
13:17I want Diane to have nothing bad to say about it.
13:19All right, well, good luck with it.
13:21Thanks.
13:22Emilio.
13:23Hello, Joanna.
13:24I feel like I could just swap my dress for this.
13:26I think we're in the same color, aren't we?
13:27I just think this is a spectacular color for the red carpet.
13:31It just stands out.
13:32And then what else are we doing with the dress?
13:34Maybe I'll do a little peek-a-boo drape in the front,
13:37and then a low back.
13:38Mm-hmm.
13:39The actual design of the dress is quite simple.
13:41It's easy to wear.
13:43I'm looking forward to seeing it come down the runway.
13:45Me too.
13:47I'm thinking I'm going to win this challenge.
13:50Well, I'm already seeing that this is shaping up
13:52to have the sort of flowy movement that I think of
13:56think of with DVF.
13:57This is the kind of color that I'm looking for
13:59when we put people on the cover of a magazine.
14:01Right.
14:02Something strong, eye-catching, defining.
14:04Tell me about the fabric.
14:06It feels wonderful.
14:07I doubled the fabric up because it was so sheer.
14:10But it does give someone coverage
14:11because when you've got all those flashbulbs on you,
14:13you really don't want to be showing what you're wearing underneath.
14:15Right.
14:16Assuming you are wearing something underneath.
14:17Yes.
14:18Talk to me about this design because my first instinct
14:21is this could be a bit dreary on the red carpet.
14:23Exactly.
14:24The way that I'm going to hopefully get around that
14:26is I'm going to have exposed shoulder
14:28because I think that's a very sexy part of a woman.
14:30Mm-hmm.
14:31And then these drape panels come at the bottom
14:33to create movement when she walks.
14:35Okay, I want to see you rise in this competition.
14:37I feel like you're swimming in the middle.
14:39We've got to get you up there.
14:40Cigar.
14:42The judges have been riding her hard on her color selection.
14:45She really is almost shooting herself in the foot
14:48just with the fabric alone.
14:50I don't think of this pattern as a classic red carpet pattern.
14:53It could look fabulous or it could look hideous.
14:58And I want to show a little bit of this color here.
15:00I don't know how.
15:01Okay, that looks a little weird when you do that.
15:03Yeah.
15:04It looks a bit nipple-focused.
15:06Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:07This is basically the understructure.
15:09Right, good.
15:10Over it will be fabric manipulation and shearing.
15:15Mm-hmm.
15:16So it kind of sprays out from the side.
15:18I think you have a clear vision for what you want to do.
15:21And I think you have a great fabric.
15:22So I wish you the best of luck, Ivy.
15:23Thank you, Joanna.
15:24I don't think Ivy can design.
15:27I think she struggles with anything outside of her aesthetic.
15:31And as a designer, that really puts you in a small box.
15:35Tremendous similarities to last week.
15:38Yes.
15:39There's a lot of trimming.
15:41The print, when I picked it, I thought it's maybe a little bit more brighter.
15:45But then I have, like, the whole roller.
15:47It's quite dark.
15:48It's almost like a rainy day in Miami.
15:50A rainy day in Miami does not sound like what someone wants to do on a red carpet.
15:54I know.
15:55So that's why I wanted to add these trimmings.
15:58Julie's in trouble.
16:00You know, this is a design competition.
16:02This is not, let me make a basic dress and slap a bunch of trim on it.
16:05Designers, congratulations.
16:07Fantastic things going on in the room.
16:09And, of course, remember, Diane von Furstenberg will be watching.
16:13Okay, good luck.
16:16Oh, it's really hot in here.
16:25I'm smelly.
16:28Oof, I can feel.
16:31Today was hot standing at the High Line.
16:35Oh, like a rod die in my armpits.
16:50What you got?
16:51I haven't even started, finished my patterns yet.
16:54Yeah.
16:55I look at Ivy, and she's still cutting.
16:57And I'm like, girl, you gotta start sewing.
17:00Because you have no dress.
17:04Hi.
17:05How are you?
17:06I am.
17:07The whole challenge is, like, eco-friendly, and it's recycled.
17:12Now I'm wondering if I should make it short.
17:17I just feel like, what the time.
17:20My oh, moment is when my model comes in, and I have nothing to fit on her.
17:27Oh, I can't think.
17:28I'm thinking too much.
17:29I spent way too much time trying to pattern this.
17:33I feel so screwed.
17:34Oh.
17:35I think Ivy has good ideas.
17:38But I don't feel that we design for the same client or even on the same wavelength.
17:44God, so much fitting work to do.
17:46I have numerous seams in this dress, so there's a lot of areas that need to be fit perfectly.
17:50This is pulling a little bit, but I think when it's actually taken in, it won't do that.
17:54Althea's dress, the design is good.
17:57The fabric is not the correct fabric for that look.
18:03Right now, I'm working on the understructure, and I haven't really started the final gown.
18:09Try to gauge the workload.
18:11Yeah, sorry.
18:12So we won't be like...
18:13I don't help in the workload, do I?
18:15No.
18:16You add.
18:17So with the clock ticking away, I have a lot, a lot, a lot of work to do.
18:22Well, this is the inside.
18:23You won't even see this.
18:24I love our necklace belt.
18:26It's nice.
18:27The only thing I'm worried about is shift on this.
18:30I've never done a dress like this, so I'm very happy about it.
18:35I really don't care for Anthony Ryan's look.
18:37I think it looks like a bad mock-up of Laura Kathleen's draped sleeves.
18:42It's bad.
18:43Okay.
18:44All right, guys, we've got like an hour and a half, I think.
18:49Shut up.
18:50Androjanin sounds like a walk in the park right now.
18:54I feel really freaked out right now.
19:00I'm just thinking I have to make this work.
19:03I've already thought out my design.
19:04There's no going back, and I just, I have to just finish it.
19:07I'm really shocked at what Ivy's done for this challenge,
19:10because it doesn't look like anything she would ever make.
19:13I think she ran into a lot of problems with this one.
19:15Okay, guys, let's call it a night.
19:18Let's go back to the night hotel.
19:20I got so much to do, it's ridiculous.
19:31Who have the dress for tomorrow?
19:33Nobody.
19:34I don't have a dress for anything, because it's pants.
19:37I don't have a dress.
19:38I have a bodice.
19:39Has anyone amongst us dressed a celebrity for a red carpet event?
19:44Actually, I've dressed all of the Kardashian girls
19:47and the Jenner girls on posters and, like, awards all over.
19:51Wow.
19:52That's awesome.
19:53Good.
19:54I mean, I just had Audra McDonald wear my dress to the Tonys.
19:57Oh, yeah, exactly.
19:58That's so big.
19:59That's so awesome.
20:00Where she won her fifth Tony Award.
20:01Oh, my God.
20:02That's awesome.
20:03She's amazing.
20:04But we'll see, you know, if Carolyn Murphy will pick one of our dresses.
20:07Yeah, I know.
20:08I like that.
20:12Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
20:15It's scrambling time.
20:16Making a new dress.
20:18Yeah.
20:19My dress is a terrible mess.
20:21I am in panic mode.
20:23It's not going to be the dress I envisioned.
20:25Oh, you find your dress?
20:26Oh, Lord.
20:27Guys, we have two hours.
20:28Two hours to runway.
20:29It's scrambling time.
20:46But then I look around in the room and everybody is in the same boat.
20:50Making a new dress.
20:51Yeah.
20:52My dress is half cut on the floor and I have to finish cutting it and put it together.
21:05Emilio always seems to be down to the wire on his look.
21:09And I'm thinking boo-boo.
21:11That's what you're going to show the judges?
21:13The what?
21:14No.
21:15It's short.
21:16Too short?
21:17Mm-hmm.
21:18But I don't like it long now anyway.
21:19My dress looks like a terrible mess.
21:21Everything is unfinished.
21:22So I decided to shorten the dress.
21:24Ivy, she has this ambitious design that takes hours and it's so bad.
21:34Whoa.
21:35Scary.
21:36Good morning, Marlis.
21:37Do you need a vent or can you walk if it's closed?
21:49Well, it's hard to fit the chiffon, but I also have like numerous seams.
21:53So when she comes in, there is a ton of like fit alteration.
21:55Alfias looks a little bit like Marie Antoinette.
21:58But it's pretty.
21:59But I wouldn't wear it.
22:00Laura's a great designer.
22:01And she's a huge Diane von Furstenberg fan.
22:03So I know she's trying to push herself.
22:08It's like a little pig squealing in the mud.
22:13So I want to do like some drama eyes, big eyelashes, eyeliner.
22:20We need a simple, classic look.
22:23Lots of mascara.
22:24What I want from Laura Mercier is nothing too, too big, but just very refined.
22:28I like it a lot.
22:29Relax curls.
22:30Not too tight.
22:31Like a natural beauty.
22:32She's saving all her energy for the runway.
22:33Oh, okay.
22:34We'll take care of her.
22:35Thank you so much.
22:36Yeah, it's still that side.
22:37It's the right side, isn't it?
22:38I think my look looks great.
22:39The only issue is my model's having trouble walking in it on the sides because the sides
22:56are a little long.
22:57So I'm going to have to try and tack it up somehow so she doesn't fall in the dress.
23:02That feels better, doesn't it?
23:05We've got 15 minutes, 15 minutes to runway.
23:10God, I love these Nagwa shoes.
23:15It's different.
23:16Looking around the room, the only person that I feel would be direct competition would be Uli.
23:21She's done her whole trim thing again.
23:23And it looks polished, but not too polished.
23:26Oh, my God.
23:27It'll be a miracle if this gets finished.
23:32I have not even pressed this thing.
23:34I had to sew Jen into this.
23:36Oh, my God.
23:37I'm so glad you're not naked.
23:39Five minutes, guys.
23:40If it's any higher, it'd be a little vulgar.
23:43I'm going to leave the hem as is.
23:44I've got to fix the back.
23:45I am unable to put a zipper on the back of the dress.
23:49I'm unable to sew the front slit properly.
23:53I'm unable to cut and hem the dress properly.
23:57I am just sad that it's not the dress that Joanna thought I could make.
24:02Not my best work. I'm sorry.
24:04Time's up, guys.
24:06Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
24:11This is the worst that fabric has ever looked.
24:13This feels so heavy.
24:15It's something I shouldn't like, but I like it.
24:17It's called Forbidden Fruit.
24:19Hi, designers.
24:30Hi.
24:31Welcome back to The Runway.
24:32This week, Project Runway All-Stars went green.
24:35You had to create a red carpet look using environmentally friendly fabrics.
24:40And you recycled your embellishments from previous challenges to create your look.
24:46Our judges tonight are three of the most environmentally conscious designers working in fashion.
24:52First, designer and co-founder of Marquesa, the beautiful Georgina Chapman.
24:57Hi, designers.
24:59And we have one of the most famous names in fashion, designer Isaac Mizrahi.
25:06Hi, designers.
25:07Our guest judge this week is one of the most respected names in the business.
25:14She is the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
25:19Please welcome back to All-Stars, the iconic Diane von Furstenberg.
25:25Hi.
25:26Hi.
25:27Hi.
25:28The judges are looking for design that will really stand out on the red carpet.
25:34And to make things more fun, I've decided to wear the winning look.
25:39So I'm going to be watching extra carefully today.
25:43Have a great show.
25:44Thank you, Carolyn.
25:46I'm really happy with this look.
25:50It exudes confidence.
25:52It exudes sex.
25:53She looks stunning.
25:54This look is ready for a red carpet.
25:58I think my model looks young and fresh and hip and you're going to be friends with her.
26:17It's definitely a different look than what everybody else is showing and I think that could keep me in a competition.
26:23There is a lot going on with my garment, but it's innovative.
26:35If I saw that, I would be like, okay, it's different.
26:37It's new.
26:38And to me, that's the most important thing in a design competition.
26:42If they go for like a unique look, I'm good.
26:47But if they want something a little more traditional, then I'm not good.
26:59She looks so feminine, so delicate.
27:06My mother looks beautiful.
27:16My dress is really more of a movie premiere type red carpet event.
27:21Something that's a little bit more glamorous, like a blockbuster that's coming out.
27:27I've never done a dress like this and I catch a peak of panty, but who doesn't love a good panty?
27:36I know that I've struggled so hard just finishing this design and I'm just hoping for safe right now.
27:45Anything but being sent home at this point.
27:55Pretty much the whole time I'm just looking at DVF's face because I want to see what she thinks.
27:59And my heart is beating so fast because Diane is sitting in a chair right across from the runway.
28:12Automatically, my eye goes to all those threads from the unfinished hem and how sloppy it looks.
28:20This is the floppiest dress I have ever presented ever in my career.
28:39Designers, if I call your name, please step forward.
28:42Joshua.
28:45Casanova.
28:47You guys are both safe.
28:50Your red carpet designs have kept you in the competition.
28:53Thank you so much. You may leave the runway.
29:03To the rest of you, three of you have high scores and three of you have low scores.
29:09Let's bring out your models.
29:10Anthony Ryan, you're up first.
29:11The High Line reminded me of home and I designed for a southern climate so I wanted something that was a little bit more comfortable in that sense.
29:25I like it a lot. I think it is, as you said, very comfortable. It's cool. It's elegant. Show me your side. There may be just a little too much fabric somewhere. I'm not quite sure where.
29:28But I like it.
29:30Anthony Ryan, I'm so torn about this dress. Something about that much of this color gives me, like, Hari Krishna. Like, I want to see her, like, jumping up and down in Central Park or something.
29:35But it also looks like you, and that's a good thing because it doesn't look like the other dresses you've done. So, congratulations, darling.
29:56So congratulations, darling.
29:59I love the color.
30:00I could see myself wearing this dress,
30:02but I wouldn't want my undies peeking out the side.
30:05And that's what I noticed when she was walking down the runway.
30:08But overall, I really like the dress a lot.
30:11I love the whole feel of this.
30:13And I like her.
30:14I would want to know her.
30:15I would want to be her.
30:16So I think you've really done a great job.
30:19Ivy, you're next.
30:21My woman wants to feel like the star.
30:23And when I think of the biggest star,
30:24I think of the sun.
30:25So when I saw this color, I just really
30:28wanted to drape it in a way so it kind of showed
30:30the rays of the sun.
30:32This challenge was all about innovative fabric
30:35and somehow making it great.
30:37And this is the worst that that fabric has ever looked.
30:40I don't really do red carpet.
30:41So this was definitely a challenge for me.
30:43I never understand what that even means, red carpet.
30:46Red carpet is just a really good dress on a really good girl.
30:48So that's not the right way to approach it.
30:52It's definitely not something that I would wear.
30:55If given the chance to do this over again,
30:57would you have created a different design?
30:59Oh, absolutely.
31:01There's normally a lightness to your work.
31:02And this feels so heavy.
31:04If I saw all these dresses, this is the last one
31:06that I would pick out that would be yours.
31:08I could see the sun.
31:10And I think the intention was very nice.
31:13The execution lives to be designed.
31:17Emilio, tell us about your design.
31:19This color really attracted me.
31:21Obviously, this is for something a little more glamorous
31:24and dressed up.
31:26And I wanted something easy and flowy that was sexy,
31:29but still a little covered up.
31:31I look at what's going on underneath this dress, the lining.
31:34And it's just drawing my eyes.
31:37Chiffon is one of the hardest fabrics to work in.
31:40But you didn't go all the way with the idea of just doing
31:43this beautiful red dress on this beautiful black girl.
31:47The lining was a problem.
31:48The slit, not necessary.
31:51And the trim, totally not necessary.
31:54The dress is missed.
31:57Emilio, tell us about your look.
31:59I swear this is the last time I'm going to use feathers
32:02and trimmings.
32:03But it was recycling.
32:05I am usually against dresses like this,
32:08where everything is sort of mixed up and closing in on muddy.
32:11But I really like this dress.
32:12It looks great.
32:15I think that you should absolutely not
32:19not use feather.
32:20Because I think you manipulated the feather extremely well.
32:26I actually think without the feathers,
32:28you had a bit of a sarong going on.
32:30So that's really been your saving.
32:32I think at the back, it does feel a little unfinished,
32:35where that embroidery is just hanging down.
32:38We're better from the front.
32:39Thank you very much.
32:40Alfie, it's your turn.
32:41I wanted to show off the different side of the prints,
32:43using the sheer paneling to give a little bit of structure
32:47to her figure.
32:48And then at the same time, add some flirtiness
32:50with some drape in the back, just to give a little, a mix of,
32:54like, feminine and sexy, really.
32:56This, to me, just doesn't make any sense in the back.
33:00It's Marie Antoinette meets Frederic of Hollywood.
33:03Yeah, that's, ugh.
33:05But you, I mean, you're very skilled.
33:07You have a lot of skill.
33:08You did have a hard job with this fabric.
33:10I can see your battle with it.
33:12And it's a shame, because I think maybe if you've gone
33:15with the draping to begin with, you might have
33:17had something quite successful.
33:19You needed to go for something, and here,
33:21you kind of stopped yourself.
33:22And that, combined with the color of the dress, to me,
33:26it's so hard to wear.
33:27Yeah, I understand.
33:29Laura Kathleen.
33:30I think the most beautiful thing about a woman
33:32is if she can wear something that's not super tight,
33:35but still look and feel very sexy.
33:38That's why I really love flowy things,
33:40and then maybe a tight top, sort of that mix.
33:44All right, well, I tell you, when I was 20,
33:47a long, long time ago, and I was engaged in Rome
33:52with a wonderful, good-looking prince,
33:54he would take me to this Via Veneto couturier,
33:58and they had invented this thing called Pijama Palazzo.
34:03And this is a Pijama Palazzo.
34:06And it is elegant, and you're just super confident,
34:11and you have a palazzo, and if you don't have it,
34:14you pretend you have it.
34:16And it's really well done.
34:19I'm not exactly sure what's going on under the arms
34:20and everything, but I have to applaud you
34:22for making that print look so fresh.
34:25My only criticism would be is watch your proportions.
34:28The shoulder's just a little narrow,
34:30and then the waist looks wide.
34:32So it's sort of getting a triangle effect.
34:34No woman wants to look wide on the waist
34:36and narrow on the shoulder.
34:39Thank you, judges, and thank you, designers.
34:42We have a lot to talk about, so you have to give us a few moments,
34:45and we'll see you back here soon.
34:52I think what's interesting about today
34:55is that we had these fabrics from Air Dye.
34:57And I really wasn't sure where each designer would go,
35:01and I was shocked when certain designers picked a certain fabric.
35:04I think Udi's felt like a happy accident.
35:07I think that there was something very nice.
35:10I loved it.
35:11I didn't at first, but I mean, it really grew on me.
35:14I think it's modern and fun and playful.
35:18I get very turned on when it's something I shouldn't like,
35:21but I like it.
35:22It's called Forbidden Fruit.
35:28With Anthony, I feel like it flows.
35:30It's just a very effortless dress.
35:32It was damn good.
35:34It has a goddess approach to it.
35:36It is very elegant.
35:37It looks comfortable.
35:39I love the attitude of it.
35:40There's a cleanliness to it.
35:42Yeah.
35:44Let's go to Laura Kathleen,
35:47because I love the pajama palazzo.
35:49I think anyone's going to feel good in that.
35:51To reinvent a red carpet moment with a jumpsuit, too.
35:55Think about it.
35:56It's red carpet and she's wearing a jumpsuit.
35:57It's a pajama palazzo.
35:58Absolutely. Delicious.
36:02Emilio's dress didn't look like a new textile.
36:05I just didn't understand his explanation
36:08about chiffon being so hard to work with.
36:10Yeah.
36:10Chiffon's a pretty easy fabric to work with.
36:12It's such a basic fabric with a good hand.
36:14The color was extraordinary.
36:16And on that girl, it was beautiful.
36:19But how, as a designer, could he send his look out on the runway
36:24with that lining?
36:25It's going to look finished.
36:26I think her theory is capable, and I think she just tried too hard this week.
36:33She's incredible the way she sewed that, but sometimes, like, when something is very well made like that,
36:38you can really point out the flaws of the thought.
36:41There's too much design that it becomes no design.
36:43It looked like an exercise.
36:45It looked like a homework.
36:46It looked like a homework.
36:47And it looked tatty.
36:49It's exactly what it looked.
36:50It looked like an old dress.
36:54To me, Ivy's dress was miserably executed, but the thought of it came through.
37:00I think she couldn't handle a fabric, is what it is, because the design was beautiful.
37:05I think, as a designer, when you pick up a fabric, you have to understand the hand of the fabric.
37:09And to not do that, and just to keep pushing down that...
37:12Do we have our decision?
37:13Yes.
37:14Let's bring them back out.
37:27Designers, tonight, one of you will be named this week's winner, and sadly, one of you will be going home.
37:33Designers, tonight, one of you will be named this week's winner, and sadly, one of you will be going home.
37:52Anthony Ryan, you are safe.
37:57You can leave the runway.
38:03Uli, Laura Kathleen, I'm actually going to be wearing one of your looks to a red carpet event.
38:12Diane, would you do the honors?
38:14The winner is...
38:22Laura Kathleen.
38:24Oh, my God.
38:28Congratulations, Laura Kathleen.
38:30I can't wait to wear it, so thank you very much.
38:32Thank you. I can't wait for you to wear it.
38:34Well done. You can leave the runway.
38:37Diane Van Furstenberg just told me that I am the winner of this challenge, and it's exactly what I dreamed about.
38:44Oh, my God. She loves it. It's perfect. It's great.
38:48Well done to you, Uli.
38:50That means we'll also see you next week.
38:52Thank you. You may leave the runway.
39:00I won!
39:00You took the risk on the jumper?
39:04I thought you were going to say something to her, because you love her so much.
39:07I know.
39:08I just didn't want to be one of those, like, falling all over fans.
39:11I wanted to be like, I got it together.
39:12He's dying.
39:13You know, like...
39:14Emilio.
39:18Emilio.
39:20Althea.
39:22Ivy.
39:24You have the lowest scores this week, and that means one of you is going home tonight.
39:32Emilio.
39:36You're safe.
39:38Thank you very much.
39:39Thank you, Emilio.
39:48Ivy and Althea.
39:50One of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
39:56Althea.
39:57You're out.
40:06Okay.
40:06Which means, Ivy, you're in.
40:10Thank you, Ivy.
40:11You may leave the runway.
40:11Okay.
40:12Althea, thank you so much for being part of All Stars.
40:24Thank you for having me.
40:25It was so nice to meet Elavio, and a very big honor.
40:28Good luck.
40:29You've given us some great designs, and we really do wish you all the best.
40:32I appreciate it.
40:33Thank you so much.
40:35She's adorable.
40:37Oh, my God.
40:38Okay.
40:38Hey.
40:39So, I'm going home.
40:40No, you guys are all very talented, and I know that you guys will do great.
40:46I think I could have just as easily won as gone home this week.
40:49I'm not taking it as, like, a personal dig towards my talent.
40:52It's a certain challenge, and things happen when you have nine hours.
40:56I just have to say, I think you're one of the sweetest people I've ever seen.
40:58Yes.
40:59Yes.
41:00Keep in touch.
41:01Oh, yeah, absolutely.
41:02Good luck to all of you.
41:04Bye, Alfie.
41:04So, my friends and my family, my husband back home, I think they're going to be proud of me
41:09because I stuck to my design, and that's the most important thing, is being true to yourself,
41:14and your design is an extension of yourself.
41:17So, to be a true person is a good person.
41:19Next, on Project Runway All-Stars.
41:29This is the challenge that every designer loves to hate, but every viewer wants to watch.
41:35Oh, my goodness, it's Christmas.
41:37Unconventional challenges are my Achilles heels.
41:40Do you know what I mean?
41:41No, the...
41:42How I can make a dress with this stuff?
41:46Please welcome Kylie Minogue.
41:49We've got the broom.
41:50You have a tendency to go old lady.
41:52Ouch.
41:53I feel your panic.
41:54I really love the bottom.
41:56Maybe that didn't come out the right way.
