00:00Attorney for Detained Acting Senior Superintendent Garth Goddard is contending that a client is being deprived of his basic human rights while being detained at Tetron Barracks Chagaramus after he was moved from the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre ECRC almost a week ago.
00:16His attorney, Crystal Primus, in a brief interview earlier today told TV6 News that she had notified authorities of a visit 48 hours ago and was expected to meet a client at 10 a.m. She said she was only able to see him around 12.30 p.m.
00:31Primus told TV6 News that the delay in seeing a client was because they had to await a prison ambulance coming from the Port of Spain area to the Tetron Barracks, where a client was taken from a cell to a meeting room before she was able to see him.
00:43She said during the conversation with a client, he claimed that he was being kept in solitary confinement and had also complained of feeling unwell since last Saturday but has not been taken for medical treatment.
00:54She claimed a client was also being deprived of water and was only given water when he received food.
01:00She said he had been fed fish which he is allergic to and asked the authorities to look into these claims by a client.
01:05Primus said she was also blindfolded and taken to see her client and was not allowed privacy in the meeting room as several officers stood inside the room breaching attorney-client privilege.
01:15Gordard was held under a preventative order on August 18 at his Malabar home.
01:20The preventative detention order signed by Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander alleges that Gordard is an associate of Rajay Ali's Radical Islamic Criminal Group.
01:30The order in a nutshell stated that Gordard had been providing support for other gang leaders and members who are incarcerated in furtherance of their participation and involvement in the commission of violent gang-related activities,
01:42which included the killing of public officials in public spaces using high-powered rifles.
01:47Gordard's matter is expected to be heard before a review tribunal on September 18.
