While Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher feels vindicated after charges of misbehaviour in public officer were dropped against her- her attorney Senior Counsel Pamela Elder says that they will be pursuing legal action against the officers that arrested the Commissioner and those who were also responsible for her arrest.
00:00Well, I feel vindicated, so first let me thank God, because it's only, only God. So I thank God, I thank my attorneys. I have vindicated, which I expected in my 43 years of service. I have never been, there's no allegations of any misconduct, be it criminal or otherwise.
00:25My service has always been with integrity.
00:30A relieved commissioner who emerged from the Ministry of National Security after a brief meeting with Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, reserved comment about her next course of action.
00:43I expect my Heavenly Father to take good care of me. Whatever God has in store for me, that is what will happen.
00:51Questioned if she had any personal vendetta against DCP Suzette Martin, who led the investigation and a subsequent arrest, the commissioner graciously answered in the negative.
01:03I believe I'm a professional and she has no animosity. I don't know if she has any animosity because I have no.
01:10The commissioner said the official handover from acting commissioner Benjamin was smooth.
01:15Quite poor, yeah. We have no understanding. I'm sexy.
01:19Earlier, the commissioner's attorney, senior counsel Pamela Elder, told the media, while a reinstatement was something for her to celebrate,
01:28she was a bit disappointed by the court's decision in which they found that the Police Service Commission did nothing wrong by suspending her.
01:35Well, of course, she was elated, OK, because she has always stated her innocence, and you would recall that from quite early, I said that there was no evidence to justify any charge.
01:50Unfortunately, we waited some months for the DPP to give his decision.
01:55So she was very relieved, and that is to be expected.
01:59And this morning, the decision, she was disappointed by the decision.
02:06But as an attorney, it would not be proper for me to comment on that decision.
02:12While Ella said they will be appealing this decision, they were also contemplating legal action against the police officers involved in our arrest in January.
02:22I can only advise her on the illegal actions that should be instituted against the officers who were arrested, I repeat, and the officers who advised on the arrest.
02:36You know, and this is a matter that the public should really be concerned about, because if you should treat the commission of police in this way, how do you treat the man in the street?
