Two weeks after Acting Assistant Superintendent Garth Guada wrote to the Review Tribunal- seeking a hearing to have his Preventative Detention order set aside- he had been granted a hearing set for September 18th- however his attorney Krystal Primus has written to the Review Tribunal to have that hearing expedited. 00:00Although Acting Assistant Superintendent of Prisons, Garth Goddard, has been granted a hearing before the Review Tribunal to challenge his detention, he believes that a date said should be brought up and his hearing expedited.
00:12His attorney, Crystal Primus, wrote to the Review Tribunal on Monday asking for the expedited request on behalf of a client said, quote,
00:42The duration of detention ought to also be proportionate to prevent the alleged crime, close quote.
00:51In emphasizing the need for a client's expedited hearing, a attorney primus also told the Review Tribunal in another letter dated on Monday that, open quote,
00:59To date, Mr. Goddard has not been charged with any crime and his detention amongst abuse of power by the Minister of Homeland Security.
01:07I understand the Review Tribunal may be busy, but due to the pressing nature of this matter, which would ordinarily form the basis of a writ of habeas corpus, an emergency application before the courts, and the severe consequences of further delay, I humbly ask to bring the review date forward, close quote.
01:24The primus said that a client was ready to respond to the particulars raised by Minister Roger Alexander, as stated in the preventative order of a client, Goddard.
01:34The preventative detention order signed by Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, alleges that Goddard is an associate of Rajayi Ali's radical Islamic criminal gang.
01:45The order, in a nutshell, stated that Goddard had been providing support for other gang leaders and members who were incarcerated in furtherance of their participation and involvement in the commission of violent gang-related activities,
01:57which included the killing of public officials in public spaces using high-powered rifles.
02:02Goddard was detained by police on August 18 at his Malaba home.
