00:00Previously on Project Runway.
00:02You will be creating a streetwear look that speaks to your brand as a designer.
00:07I just don't think like a cool girl would dress that way.
00:11I definitely respect Christian's opinions, but I think my look looks amazing.
00:16I've been on the bottom the last two challenges, and Vijay keeps implying that I cannot do this without my brother.
00:22I have to prove to the judges that I am here to stay, that I am here for a reason.
00:26Girl, after last week, we both need to redeem ourselves.
00:29Seriously.
00:30You get a little in your feelings when the criticism comes.
00:33No, I'm taking it in.
00:35It does not feel good to get clocked once again by the law roach.
00:40Congratulations, Belania. You are the winner.
00:43Thank you, thank you.
00:46Yuchen, Joan, unfortunately, you were our least favorite looks.
00:50Joan, I just think that you made something that looked so old, she could go praise the Lord in this outfit.
00:55Yuchen, I am so mad as who over this look because you are a streetwear designer.
01:00I almost want to, like, jump out the chair and beat you up for making this look.
01:04A stake for the winner is $200,000, a spread in Elle magazine, and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
01:15This is Project One Way.
01:17Joan, Yuchen, we made our decision.
01:26Joan, we asked you to take us to the streets, but you took us to the sanctuary.
01:31I'm feeling bad. My look spoke to who I am as a designer, but maybe I should have listened to Christian and Jesus.
01:41Yuchen, this was your challenge to shine, but you could give us nothing new.
01:47I'm so mad.
01:48I feel so disappointed because streetwear is supposed to be my challenge.
01:52I feel like I disappoint everyone, especially law. I'm sorry.
02:00Joan.
02:00I'm sorry you're out.
02:10Yuchen, that means you're in. You can leave the runway.
02:13Sure.
02:14Oh, no worries, sweetie.
02:16Oh, no, it's okay.
02:18It's okay.
02:20So cute.
02:21You're so sweet.
02:23You're so sweet.
02:28Aw.
02:28Aw.
02:29The babies.
02:29I just wanted to say we all think that you're a great designer.
02:34And, you know, this was not your week.
02:36This was not your challenge.
02:37You will go back to your business.
02:39Yes.
02:39You dress amazing women.
02:41And I thank you guys for this opportunity.
02:43I am one of the older designers.
02:45You know, I'm 60.
02:47I'm fabulous.
02:48Yeah.
02:48You are.
02:49You can definitely walk out of here with your head up high.
02:53Yes.
02:53Get to hear of that.
02:56Auf Wiedersehen.
02:56Auf Wiedersehen.
02:58Mwah.
02:59Thank you, Heidi.
03:00All the best to you, Jo.
03:00It's been a pleasure.
03:02Bye.
03:02Bye, John.
03:03Bye, guys.
03:05You better work for 60, mama.
03:07Okay.
03:10She's coming for my job.
03:15I just feel so bad that Miss John is going home.
03:19I take it personally.
03:20I feel like John has to go home because of me.
03:22It's okay, baby.
03:23It's okay.
03:25Oh, Miss John.
03:26I'm going home.
03:27Stop it.
03:28No.
03:29What are you apologizing about?
03:31You are just starting your career.
03:34Oh, my Lord.
03:35Yuchen, come on now.
03:37You have another opportunity to show them who you are.
03:41It's been a pleasure meeting all you guys and working with you, and you're so talented.
03:49I don't want to cry.
03:51Not my Aussie.
03:53I love her.
03:54Miss John, you are the joy of the season.
03:59Saying bye to Miss John is one of the hardest things to do.
04:05She is one of those people that I connected in a deeper level.
04:08She's a very hard-working person.
04:10She's kind, and I'm going to miss her.
04:13It makes my heart full to even be in the room with you guys.
04:19Miss John, she's got that just love in her soul, and she's offered me a lot of love and a lot of safe space.
04:26And I'm going to miss my little safe space.
04:30Kristen.
04:31Joan.
04:32They said I took them to church, Kristen.
04:34Not to the street.
04:36See, that's because you weren't there at Moves with me to stop me from buying that family.
04:42Call me anytime, okay?
04:43I sure will.
04:47Project Runway saved my life, y'all.
04:49Joan, Joan, Joan.
04:50I came in this competition to prove to myself that I deserve to be here, that I'm strong, and I'm proud of myself.
04:59Miss Joan, child.
05:01Mm, mm, mm.
05:02I left it all on the runway.
05:09Shine, shine, shine, shine.
05:13Flex with it, gon' get it.
05:16No limit, yeah, you know I never stop.
05:19It's six of us now, so the competition is getting steep.
05:23I must make it to the final five.
05:26Oh, my gosh.
05:27Wow.
05:28Oh, my gosh.
05:28I could use a nice.
05:29Oh, my God.
05:31How do you feel?
05:32I feel okay.
05:32I feel like I didn't really get a win.
05:34Congratulations.
05:35And I'm like, uh, I don't really feel like this.
05:37Last challenge, Lost said that Belana had an issue with her body language when she's being criticized.
05:42When you are being critiqued, your body language gets a little nasty.
05:48I was not doing that.
05:50Now you were.
05:50Wait.
05:51I agree with you, but I have to tell the foundation first.
05:55This is my creative process.
05:59This is my creative process.
06:00She's like,
06:01I don't know if that's what I was like.
06:07Is that how I look?
06:08Belana, I love you, girl, but we're going to work on the attitude, girl.
06:12I don't like people telling me what to do.
06:17Are you guys ready for the next challenge?
06:19I think I'm the only one that hasn't won.
06:20Yeah, I think I'm the only one who hasn't won.
06:22I was so close last week to take that win home, which means now I can just taste the win for this next week.
06:32So maybe this challenge, you're going to win it.
06:38Let's see if he can do it without his brother's help.
06:42Let's go.
06:43Let's go.
06:44Go.
06:45Christian.
06:48Oh, Heidi.
06:50How are you feeling?
06:51Like I'm ready for some horsing around.
06:56Well, giddy up.
06:57Let's bring in those designers.
06:59Woo!
07:01Wow.
07:02Oh, my God.
07:03Bringing me back.
07:04Oh, my God.
07:06Oh, he needs to step stool.
07:08That's a big horse.
07:09Chiquito.
07:10This is going to take a hot minute.
07:12Oh.
07:12Oh, I missed it.
07:15Ye to the ha.
07:16You really get your groin out there.
07:19Yeah.
07:20Yeah.
07:20Worked.
07:22Well, as you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
07:27What started out as 12 designers is now down to the dirty half dozen.
07:32Mm-hmm.
07:33Mm-hmm.
07:34For this next challenge, it's all about Western flair.
07:38Not only is pop culture obsessed with all things country, from Yellowstone to the Queen
07:43Bee herself, Cowboy Carter, but runways across the world are saddling up to fresh takes
07:49on classic country Western styles, fabrication, and design.
07:52So for this next challenge, you will be tapping into the zeitgeist and creating a look that is your take
08:00on Western chic.
08:02Western is one of the challenges that Antonio and I are so excited to have in the competition.
08:07I mean, I basically live with a cowboy.
08:09I love my cowboy hats.
08:11I love my cowboy boots.
08:13His closet, it's literally all Western.
08:15Chaps, like leather jackets.
08:17This could be my win.
08:18You have sunrise to sunset to complete your look.
08:23Half of us are gone, and now another one-day challenge is going to decide the final five.
08:29The anxiety levels are ramping up, like...
08:33All right, good luck, designers.
08:35Christian, should we mosey?
08:38Thanks, divas.
08:39Mwah!
08:39Oh, God.
08:47This place.
08:48I'd love, like, a burgundy leather.
08:51I know that a lot of designers are going to the leather section because, yes, it's a Western chic fashion challenge.
08:58And to me, why would I go there if all of you are already going there?
09:04Next!
09:04You're doing...
09:06How is this Western?
09:08You'll see.
09:09Oh.
09:10Silent killer.
09:11Like, I just don't understand how vinyl can be Western.
09:14Sway, sway, sway, sway.
09:16This week, the pressure is on.
09:18I have to win a challenge.
09:21What am I going to do?
09:22So far in the competition, I've used a lot of color.
09:24I've used a lot of print.
09:25And I'm like, you know what?
09:26I'm going to shock everyone, and I'm going to do white.
09:29I can do a miniskirt with French.
09:30I can do my jacket crop with French.
09:32Quanto vale esta?
09:34It was, like, calling me.
09:35I was like, ah!
09:38Okay, this is cool.
09:39I don't know too much about Western culture.
09:42Do you know where Lasso is?
09:44Lasso, no.
09:45This looks like Christmas.
09:47Do not get this.
09:49This challenge is very personal for me because Antoni and I are from northern Mexico.
09:55When I was three, I remember coming into America in our cowboy boots.
09:59So, for this look, I really want to lean into a Western, indigenous vibe.
10:05It's in my roots, and it's in my DNA.
10:08And that's why I need to find the perfect fabric because I have to deliver.
10:17All right!
10:21I love my fabric.
10:23Your fabric loves you.
10:24Guys, I'm putting the interfacing by the muslin, okay?
10:29Getting into the workroom, I automatically just go straight to cutting my fabric because
10:34I really want to figure out what I'm going to make for under this coat now.
10:38I got this beautiful leather, but I don't have much of it.
10:42So, I have to be really careful in how I use this leather.
10:45And at this point, I have to make something so innovative and amazing to be able to win this
10:50challenge.
10:51Oh, f***.
10:57Clearly, you can interface on leather.
11:00What?
11:02Oh, f***.
11:03I just f***ed up my fabric.
11:05It burned it.
11:06Stop!
11:08Stop.
11:08Oh, no.
11:09Like, I don't know what to do.
11:10I'm freaking out.
11:11I have no backup.
11:12Holy s***.
11:17It burned it.
11:18Holy s***.
11:19I haven't really, like, messed up throughout this whole competition.
11:23And then this happens to me.
11:24I cannot believe I just did this.
11:28He interfaced almost all his fabrics for some reason.
11:31But leather already has a body.
11:35So, why would you interface a leather?
11:37Wait, that looks cool, though.
11:40Jesus has a top.
11:42It could even be a dress, bitch.
11:44The burning on Jesus' leather is giving kind of an armpit kind of energy.
11:50Okay, I'm going to be honest with you.
11:53It looks like pit stains.
11:56Because of the coloring.
11:57Are you going to treat it of some sort?
12:00Mmm.
12:01Looks like boob sweat.
12:03Oh, s***.
12:05I trust Ethan's judgment.
12:07So, am I screwed?
12:09At this point, there's nothing I can do.
12:12I just have to make it work.
12:13This is where we come from.
12:17Hello.
12:18Hi, everybody.
12:20Ooh, should we go here?
12:22I'm doing these front panels.
12:24I am making a meeting wear leather gown.
12:27She literally is going to look like a python.
12:29We love like a little snake in the grass.
12:32I grew up on a farm and...
12:34Did you really?
12:35...snakes and...
12:35You grew up on a farm?
12:37I grew up on country-western films, and I literally grew up on a farm.
12:41And these films surround themselves with powerful female energy.
12:46And I'm trying to pull that energy into my clothes.
12:49Yeehaw!
12:51I'm making a two-piece denim western-inspired set with a cotton button-down clothing.
12:57Similar to what you just said.
12:59It's not.
13:00I promise it's not.
13:01It's going to look totally different.
13:02All right.
13:03Are you feeling good?
13:04You won the last challenge.
13:05I feel like a disciplined child, though.
13:07What did law say?
13:08My body language is disrespectful when I'm getting a critique.
13:11So I have to be sharp.
13:13After getting called out about my attitude last week,
13:16it's very, very important to me to show the judges that I'm listening.
13:20I need to leave it in the workroom and not bring it on stage.
13:26We're fringing?
13:28Yeah.
13:29You're going to fringe this whole thing?
13:31For this challenge, I want it to be a little unexpected.
13:34But still western chic.
13:36Yes.
13:37I am making a futuristic vinyl fringe dress.
13:41How are you going to do this?
13:43Hmm.
13:44That's a good cross shirt.
13:46I'm going to do a leather jacket crop.
13:48It's going to have a mini skirt that I'm going to fringe.
13:51Don't you think that it's like kind of a little bit done?
13:55It's just white leather jacket, a white leather skirt.
14:00So that's why I want the details to really stand out.
14:03I'm the only one that hasn't had a win.
14:05I've been in the top, but this close to winning.
14:07And I know that the techniques that I have in my brain can really take this look to the next level and win this challenge.
14:16What did you do?
14:17So it was a mistake.
14:18Oh.
14:19I tried to interface my leather and then burn.
14:21I think maybe the burning technique is kind of interesting.
14:26Maybe you do more to the skirt.
14:29Thank God.
14:32Work it hard.
14:32So I'm making this dress.
14:34Yeah.
14:34I wanted to make it all sequins.
14:36Mm-hmm.
14:37And I'm going to have like, you know, a little bit dripping on here.
14:39I can buy this at the mall right now.
14:42I just wanted to take this shining part of Western, like, you know, culture.
14:45I get it.
14:46Like a performance S.
14:47Yeah.
14:47Like Dolly Parton.
14:48Do you know who that is?
14:49No.
14:50Oh, God.
14:53Are you all right?
14:55Need some water?
14:57I guess she's a very big country star.
15:00Yeah, she is.
15:03Here's my thing.
15:04You don't have to make a dress.
15:06You make jackets all the time.
15:07Why don't you make a cool jacket with fringe all over it?
15:10And you love the mini sexy skirts.
15:12And like, why can't it be more you?
15:16I have to stick on dress.
15:18Fine.
15:18Goodbye.
15:19Good luck.
15:20Last challenge, the judges didn't like my pants and hoodie.
15:24So I'm doing something different than making a dress.
15:27I've made my decision.
15:28I just hope I have enough time.
15:31But I will make something on the dress, though.
15:32I'm just telling you.
15:34I'm warning you.
15:35Okay.
15:37You have to win this one.
15:39Everybody has one except me.
15:41Yeah.
15:41I've been close.
15:42I know you've been really close.
15:43How many times?
15:44This is, this has to be-
15:45I've been close two times.
15:46That was in the top twice.
15:47It's been very exciting to see my brother win any challenges.
15:50But I came into this competition thinking I was going to do better than him.
15:55Wow.
15:55I'm sorry to think Jesus is my biggest competition.
16:01Designer, there's a new sheriff in town.
16:05And there's only going to be room for one twin in this competition.
16:09Who would it be?
16:10Who would it be?
16:10What is happening out here?
16:14Oh my God.
16:15One of them has to go at some point.
16:17So, is it today?
16:19What?
16:19Oh my Lord.
16:20Ah!
16:20I think that dealing with one twin is very challenging.
16:24And dealing with two twins is even more challenging.
16:27They should both go home.
16:31Vijay can act bored all she wants.
16:33But she's going to wake up real quick when she's in the bottom.
16:41What is that big for?
16:42It's a tumbleweed.
16:43Girl, that's a wig.
16:44That's why somebody waved.
16:45It's a tumbleweed.
16:47It's a tumbleweed.
16:48It's a tumbleweed.
16:48It's a tumbleweed.
16:50Oh my Lord.
16:53It's not working.
16:55I feel really bad for Yushin because I think that he does not have a clue what Western is.
17:02I mean, he didn't know who Dolly Parton is.
17:03So, if you don't know who Dolly Parton is, you do not know what Western is.
17:07I'm interested to see how he pumps that out.
17:09I don't understand why he's doing a gown and not something that's in his element.
17:14Let's say he's pushing himself.
17:16I have hit a wall.
17:17I feel stuck and I'm moving so slow.
17:21I am so thankful for my second chance, but I need to prove I belong here.
17:27Hello.
17:28Hello.
17:29Anybody want to ride on my pony?
17:31Yes.
17:31Yes.
17:32Do I put in the front or in the back?
17:34Oh my God.
17:36Okay, give me my pony back.
17:38All right.
17:39Not for the pony.
17:40Okay.
17:41Let's bring in your model.
17:42Pony.
17:43I don't know about the skirt.
17:47The top looks really cool.
17:49The skirt doesn't look cool yet.
17:50Can you, like, scrub?
17:51Can it be, like...
17:52It's ruined the fitting.
17:53Okay.
17:53Yeah.
17:54You burn it.
17:55I burn it.
17:56I love it.
17:57I mean, I think the whole look turned out so good.
18:00I cannot believe that this mistake might turn out to be the greatest mistake I've ever done in this competition.
18:07It's looking almost like a piece of art.
18:09What about we have a lot of, like, fringe from the head?
18:12To the floor like that?
18:13Yeah.
18:14I think you should make your dress more interesting first.
18:17More interesting.
18:18Or you can add a jacket because it's boring.
18:21But I don't know how to make the progress.
18:24Well, that's the challenge here, my friend.
18:29Mommy Christian is yelling at me.
18:31He wants me to make a jacket, but I don't really have time.
18:34Since we already have the base dress, it's time for me to think about how am I going to make this more western?
18:39One question.
18:40Do you think this hat's for this hat?
18:43I don't care about your stupid hat.
18:45I care about your dress.
18:48Hmm.
18:49What is your story?
18:51I don't have a story.
18:52No, but you have to give them something.
18:55If I had to go to a western event, I would make this for myself and put it on.
18:59That's all I'm going to say.
19:01Yeah, Christian, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
19:04Does it get a shoulder pad?
19:06I think we can give you a shoulder pad.
19:09Doing this challenge, I know that I want to create something unexpected and out of the box.
19:14And what I'm doing, I think it's different, but it's a cool dress.
19:19BJ, you don't need any other accessories.
19:21Absolutely.
19:22You don't need any.
19:23No, get that bag out of here.
19:24You have a plastic fringe dress.
19:27BJ's very proud of her look.
19:29But girl, I feel like she's going to be in the bottom.
19:31I feel like she thinks she thought outside the box, but I don't think she did.
19:35I think she made her model look like a box.
19:38Keep it simple.
19:41All right, designers.
19:42That's it.
19:43That's time with your models.
19:44Thank you so much, ladies.
19:46Love you.
19:47Love you.
19:48Less than three hours to go.
19:50And then we're going home.
19:51How to make it interesting?
19:56How to make it interesting?
19:58Maybe give her an old-time, like, saloon girls bustle?
20:01Nah.
20:02Or, like, a really cool neck scarf.
20:04Scarf?
20:05Girl, I'm throwing you ideas.
20:07You either pick them up and run with them, or you figure it out on your own.
20:11Okay.
20:12I think that Yuchen is scared of this challenge.
20:15It is both out of his culture, and he's been really shook up these last two challenges.
20:23I'm so tired.
20:24Literally, I've been cutting the fringe for, like, eight hours.
20:27I know.
20:27You have a two-day challenge.
20:29Yeah.
20:29For real.
20:30I am pushing myself to the point of exhaustion.
20:34I know it's risky, but I hope that the judges will see the work that I put in.
20:38And maybe if they don't love it, they'll give me some grace to keep me from going home.
20:43Let's go, Tom.
20:47One hour left, you guys.
20:50Let's go, Tom.
20:53Ethan's dress is similar to the dress that I made from the Boring Fabric Challenge.
21:00The judges don't like it when you show something that the other designers have already done.
21:05Jesus, I saw Ethan's dress, and it kind of reminded me of the gray dress that I made for Luz, right?
21:11Maybe it's unintentional, you know, but I mean, what do you think?
21:16Well, well, well.
21:17The bitch is staring the pot.
21:21I mean, I think it's very him.
21:24Yeah.
21:24It's definitely going to stand out.
21:26What do you think about his stuff?
21:27Um, it's okay.
21:33I think it's important to be original, and if your work is referencing the work of your other competitors,
21:40then it means that you need to change that, and you need to come up with something else.
21:44I don't want to cause drama, but I need to talk to Ethan.
21:47And, okay.
21:50Are you going to be doing a lot of the crisscross detail?
21:53Mm-hmm.
21:53Because when I saw your dress, it kind of reminded me of the gray dress.
21:58Which one?
21:59The wool.
22:00His?
22:01No, my dress.
22:01Yours.
22:03What the f***?
22:04It's not similar, but it's kind of like the same idea where it's kind of like, it has kind of like a cut out here.
22:10I think that Vijay is spewing bullshit.
22:14I don't agree that a full crocodile gown has anything to do with her wool mini dress.
22:22So when I saw it, I was like, I think I need to tell Ethan, because the judges might call you out for that.
22:27Especially Nina.
22:28I was like, don't copy each other.
22:31No way in hell would I want to plagiarize your boring work.
22:35So buzz off.
22:38Woo!
22:39Today's the runway show and the pressure is on.
22:46We're so close to the top five and there's no room for mistakes.
22:51We'll see what happens on the runway.
22:56Jesus, who do you think is in trouble today?
22:59You.
23:00Me?
23:01Oh my God, why me?
23:02I don't know.
23:03I don't know what the judges are going to think.
23:05I know.
23:05It's very risky.
23:06It's risky for sure.
23:07I'm worried about Vijay.
23:08Well, I'm not really worried because I want her to be out of this competition.
23:12Model!
23:12The diva!
23:13Hey!
23:14What's up, girlfriend?
23:16Hello.
23:17Hello.
23:18Hello.
23:19Oh my God, you look so sexy.
23:23Let's see what's going on around here.
23:27Do you think the front fits perfect?
23:29I had to take this panel, remove it from the inside and put it over top to alleviate the
23:36boob space.
23:37Because my ****, I usually work with, they're all fake and they don't move and when I lift
23:42that up, that'll relieve the boob tension.
23:44So like real **** in this whole competition has been like a journey.
23:50It looks cool.
23:51It looks cool.
23:53I mean, listen, I don't know what they're going to think because it's a wild card.
23:57Yeah.
23:58I just want you to be prepared.
23:59Oh, damn.
24:00I wanted to sell this before you came.
24:01Ah!
24:02The twins may live and breathe Western, but I'm coming off of a win and I finally know
24:07who I am.
24:08I'm not backing down.
24:09I'm coming for them.
24:10I just got to watch my body language.
24:12Antonio, please take off the glasses.
24:14I get it.
24:15So are you going to do the whole booby horn situation?
24:23Yeah.
24:24I decided to make this bullhorn because I got inspired by Tibet culture, which is kind
24:32of similar to Western culture.
24:34Tibetan culture, they put all these decorations on the bullhorn.
24:38That means good luck.
24:39And I know the bullhorn is screaming in the Western world.
24:42I think they're going to like it.
24:44You're going to be very, very slay on the stage.
24:52It's something.
24:53Yeah.
24:54She's very horny.
24:57All right, models, you guys can go to the Ulta Beauty Salon now.
25:03We are back.
25:04Howdy, cowgirl.
25:05I want her to have pigtails, but I want it to be behind her ear.
25:09So if I were to go into an Ulta Beauty, do they provide makeup services?
25:13Every Ulta Beauty store has a salon.
25:16Now our professional stylists are trained to help you find your look, your vibe, and your
25:21moment.
25:22So everything from makeup to skincare to hair care, we're here to make you feel and look
25:27amazing.
25:28Oh, that's very cool.
25:29All right, designers, that's it.
25:30That's time.
25:31Let's head to the runway.
25:32Hi.
25:33How are you?
25:34How are you?
25:35How are you?
25:36Hi, all.
25:37Welcome to the runway.
25:38As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
25:50For this challenge, you had one day to create your take on Western chic.
25:54Let's meet our judges.
25:55CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect, Laura Roach.
26:01And joining us, a country music star and the first African-American female to be nominated
26:08for a Grammy in the country music category, Mickey Guyton.
26:12Hello, Mickey.
26:13Welcome.
26:14And executive vice president and creative director for Gap Inc. and chief creative officer of
26:21Old Navy, Zach Pozen.
26:23Oh my God.
26:25Zach Pozen.
26:26I've seen that face on Project Runway so many times.
26:29This has got cute.
26:30He is very meticulous with craftsmanship.
26:33One of the best designers that I know.
26:35It's great to be back in the saddle here on Project Runway.
26:38Yay!
26:39No pun intended.
26:41All right.
26:42Let's start the show.
26:48I nailed my look.
26:50It is Western and it's so chic.
26:53And this burn leather, what really was stressing me out, has turned into greatness.
26:58This burn is a technique that I would definitely do again.
27:02That is gorgeous.
27:03Like I'm ready for a country mega.
27:11As I see my look go down the runway, I'm excited.
27:14I'm proud of it.
27:15My eye goes directly to the denim and the tan leather and the sharp point cutouts look really
27:24cool.
27:25I like it a lot.
27:26This one just gives me chills.
27:27Like I'd wear that right now.
27:29I love this.
27:30I love seeing it just snake down the runway.
27:31It's like Roberto Cavalli from 10 years ago.
27:32I just wish it would fit better on the breasts.
27:33It feels really good to see what I have accomplished.
27:48The styling and the detail.
27:50And it's fun.
27:51It's a moment.
27:52And if there's anything I know how to do, it's a moment.
27:55It seems like taking me to a country award show, honey.
27:57I'm feeling so proud of myself showcasing a piece that I put all my soul and intentions
28:10into it.
28:11What?
28:12That is stunning.
28:14I'm a fierce competitor.
28:15Don't underestimate me.
28:16Today is going to be tough.
28:18Mm-hmm.
28:19It's so good.
28:20My vision to create something unexpected and not the usual Western chic fashion is very
28:35risky.
28:37Looking at all the creations on the runway, mine is different, but I'm keeping my fingers
28:42crossed that the judges will appreciate that I'm a designer who takes risks.
28:46It's like Casey Caldwell Procrata.
28:47I don't understand that.
28:48You don't wanna miss out.
28:49Woo!
28:50Will we harm?
28:51As Lyris is going down the runway, I feel so happy.
29:04She's totally rocked out.
29:05And she looks so fierce.
29:07I'm very happy with the outcome.
29:08All right now.
29:09Mm-hmm.
29:10Oh, no.
29:11She's gonna sell the barman.
29:12Oh, no.
29:13She's gonna sell the barman.
29:15She's definitely gonna sell the barman.
29:16She's definitely gonna sell the barman.
29:17I can literally read Mrs. Law's face just by him rolling his eyes.
29:22I can see that some of these designers are in trouble, and I just hope I'm not one of them.
29:34Congratulations, that was quite the runway show.
29:38We scored your designs.
29:39Antonio.
29:40Jesus.
29:41Alania.
29:42You are our favorite designs this week.
29:45That means Ethan, Hugh Chin, and Vijay, you had our least favorite designs today.
30:01You can leave the runway.
30:03Okay.
30:10Gag.
30:11It's getting hotter.
30:12Mm-hmm.
30:13I'm really sad that the judges did not love what I made, and the rest did not pay off.
30:18But I think I made something bold, and I did not make something basic and literal like the other designers here.
30:25They definitely had the most accessible pieces out of everybody.
30:31Yeah.
30:32Yeah.
30:33I'm just surprised to be in the bottom, because I know my look is really good,
30:38comparative to like some of these looks that are so like...
30:43There's got to be another word for boring.
30:45Like I just don't think they're interesting.
30:46Like if I can just go and buy them off the rack, I don't think that is interesting to me.
30:50So...
30:55We will see.
30:56Okay, let's bring out your models.
30:58Yes.
30:59Wow, Barbies!
31:02Stunning.
31:03Thank you so much.
31:04All right, Antonio.
31:05Let's start with you.
31:06Yeah.
31:07It is so special.
31:09Wow.
31:10And to do this in a day, and for that price.
31:11You kind of checked off the boxes for me.
31:13There's conchos, there's fringe.
31:15You're working with bow leather.
31:17And this band, uh, waistband.
31:19The belt.
31:20The top.
31:21The belt.
31:22Wow.
31:23The buckle was black, so I wrapped it in leather.
31:25Such a good idea.
31:26The braise, risque.
31:27It gives it the fashion edge.
31:28It's stunning.
31:29You know, I'm Latino, so I needed to sex it up a little bit.
31:31Hey!
31:32I think that this outfit is absolutely beautiful.
31:36Latinos in country music have a very beautiful love affair.
31:40Vaqueros.
31:41Yep.
31:42The conchos, everything.
31:43There's a huge Latino movement in country music.
31:45And to see that and see that you're representing that is absolutely beautiful.
31:50The styling is absolutely phenomenal.
31:53The hair choice, the makeup choice, really, really, really well done.
31:57Well, I think of you every time I style down.
32:00I mean, you should.
32:01I'm the best.
32:02I know.
32:03Yeah.
32:04Okay, Balania, we're gonna talk to you next.
32:07When this came out, I knew exactly it was you, which is great because it's really showing
32:12us that you have a strong point of view.
32:13It's just absolutely stunning.
32:15Love the authenticity.
32:17Didn't feel like you were trying to interpret it as anything else but what it is.
32:20It was very genuine and honest.
32:22And I just thought the lines and everything were so beautiful.
32:25Just love it so much.
32:26You just did a great job.
32:27Thank you so much.
32:28The leather or suede material.
32:29Can she just turn?
32:30Let's do it.
32:31It's great.
32:32I mean, just kind of complicated things happening here, right?
32:35That are kind of working together.
32:37You're playing with different proportions, layering, volumes, transparency, graphic, and
32:43it kind of all works.
32:44I feel like you always find this way of putting things together that
32:49in theory don't really work in a way, but it totally works.
32:53And that makes it new again.
32:55So I loved it.
32:57Jesus!
32:58Hello.
32:59It is stunning.
33:01From every angle, every detail, that coat is just singing, you know?
33:05And that it's see-through.
33:06And when she walked, it was so beautiful.
33:08Thank you so much.
33:09And all this friendship put on there.
33:10The coat is really, really spectacular.
33:11I love going to vintage stores and this looks like it could have easily been
33:15from the seventies that someone wore that to Woodstock and just kept it in the most pristine
33:20condition.
33:21What is the top?
33:22Is it a print?
33:23Is it molded?
33:24So creating this kind of like beautiful texture was a mistake.
33:28I like the mistake of it.
33:30Same.
33:31Same.
33:32That kind of spontaneity in design process is when the most interesting discoveries get
33:37found.
33:38Like the mess that works.
33:39I thought that that was not a mistake.
33:41It's just so beautiful.
33:42Like out the gate when I saw it, I loved it instantly.
33:45It's just amazing.
33:47Like it was definitely one of my favorites.
33:48I mean, all of y'all are my favorites.
33:50That's why you are here.
33:54I have to say this was a tough one.
33:56Yes, it was.
33:57Very tough.
33:58Picking the winner here because really you guys all did a fantastic job.
34:02The winning look not only felt true to country roots, it pushed the envelope of what
34:07Western chic looks like.
34:10Congratulations.
34:11This could be my win.
34:12My first win.
34:13Finally.
34:18Jesus, you are the winner.
34:20Ah!
34:25I'll share this with you.
34:26Oh, you guys are so cute.
34:28This works for us.
34:30Love.
34:31Thank you so much.
34:34Jesus wins.
34:35At this point, I am frustrated because I am the cowboy.
34:40And Jesus is not the cowboy.
34:42And I wanted my first win finally.
34:44Oh, Jesus.
34:45Congratulations.
34:46You can leave the runway.
34:50This was a tough win.
34:51You know, I really wanted Antonio to take the win.
34:54I won.
34:55Yeah.
34:56And then I really thought he was going to win.
34:58I mean, your win is his win too.
35:01I know.
35:02Here we go again.
35:03Jesus won another challenge.
35:05And I'm pretty sure that it's going to make him really, really cocky.
35:10Wow.
35:11I'm so relieved I made it to the top five.
35:13And I'm just climbing to the top.
35:15But BJ, girl, I think your time might be over soon.
35:19Ethan, BJ, and Eugene, you created our least favorite designs.
35:31All right, let's bring out your models.
35:36Ethan, let's start with you.
35:39Tell us about your look.
35:40I created my own evening wear, avant-garde, snake in the grass.
35:45When it first came out, I kind of felt like I had seen this.
35:48However, seeing it in front of me right now, it's impeccably made.
35:52I thought the dress really is stunning.
35:55I think it was the ties that threw me off personally.
35:58I don't know if that's dark brown or black, but had it been something more in the tone of the skins,
36:03that would have elevated it a little bit more and made it look even more expensive.
36:08And there's something to me that's going on with the booth that's not quite flattering.
36:13It's too narrow.
36:14That's what pushed you out of the top three.
36:16The styling is really good.
36:17I love the cowboy hat.
36:18I love the drama with the tail.
36:20And it does feel country, right?
36:21Yes, it absolutely does.
36:23You missed the top three by just a few points.
36:25It's a showstopper.
36:26Mm-hmm.
36:27I'm not mad at it.
36:28VJC, the judges know that my work is not like your work.
36:33Okay, Hugh Chin, can you tell us about your look?
36:36I want to bring this excitement on the runway.
36:38You know, a little drama.
36:39And when she's walking on the runway, that's like...
36:41Like a nipple tussle.
36:42Right.
36:43So it's all about the excitement.
36:44What I'm looking for in this country western fashion is the authenticity.
36:49And I just don't think that that was executed in this.
36:53I don't understand how you are a streetwear designer and you gave us an evening dress.
37:00And a really bad evening dress.
37:02I don't think it fit her that well.
37:04If you're going to play with the satire, and if it's going to be something that's about, like, horny disco, nasty couture, then it has to be, like, weirder and stranger and more perverse.
37:15Thank you, Zach.
37:16Yeah.
37:17I feel like you just went for something so nutty that I'm like, did you think this was a winning look?
37:24The taste level here is beyond.
37:27Beyond.
37:28Beyond good or beyond bad?
37:29Beyond bad.
37:30Yeah, okay.
37:31We hate the dress.
37:32We hate the dress.
37:33We hate the dress.
37:34We hate the dress.
37:35Okay, Vijay, let's hear about your look.
37:39For this particular challenge, it was really intentional to kind of, like, go on a different direction.
37:45What is it going to be in the future to see what western fashion is?
37:50So let's start with the good.
37:51The good thing about you is that you know a woman's body.
37:54Mm-hmm.
37:55The way you cut that curve to make her waist look small in the exact place it should and using that nude material was brilliant.
38:04Everything else is such a mismatch and so confusing.
38:08Yeah, this was a miss for me.
38:10This looked like a project runway nightmare.
38:13It didn't make sense to me.
38:14Western chic, I'm just not getting that here.
38:17Vinyl doesn't say modernity to me or futurism.
38:20Mm-hmm.
38:21It's kind of post-modern.
38:22You know, it's like it's been there.
38:23We've been there since the 60s.
38:24We asked for country chic.
38:26You gave us country shit.
38:28And I'm not going to hold that back.
38:30I think you were trying to, like, try something different.
38:33And the things that, like, trust your gut, it's always 100% correct.
38:37Thank you for all the feedback.
38:39Of course.
38:41Both twins are in the top and I'm in the bottom.
38:44This is embarrassing.
38:46And now I might go home.
38:48This cannot be my ending.
38:50We have a lot to discuss.
38:52And sadly, one of you will be out.
38:54You can all leave the runway.
38:55Thank you so much.
39:00Well, it's really now between Vijay and Yuchen because Ethan is safe.
39:05He was our number four today, right?
39:08He made tiny mistakes.
39:09Yeah.
39:10That kept him out of the top three.
39:12Yuchen going for two horns on the breasts and, like, bedazzling her from head to toe.
39:18And not even enough.
39:19Plastic French from head to toe.
39:20There wasn't enough bedazzle for me to make it that weird.
39:23It's like, not the moment.
39:25No.
39:26Last challenge, I was on the bottom.
39:28It took some confidence away from me.
39:30I've been questioning myself.
39:31If I got the chance to stay in the competition, I have to be able to shake that off.
39:36Hopefully, they give me that chance.
39:38There was absolutely nothing redeeming about it.
39:41Nothing.
39:42The accessories, the necklace.
39:43Terrible.
39:44And then he just bedazzled it everywhere.
39:46Put the necklace on the hat.
39:47I have that hat from Etsy, by the way.
39:49I know you do.
39:50I do.
39:51I saw you.
39:52Everybody who went to Beyonce's tour had the hat.
39:53I mean, they did.
39:54He lost his confidence, though.
39:56We've all lost our confidence before.
39:58But this has, like, lost the plot.
40:00BJ, I mean, she brought something that didn't feel chic at all.
40:04And the key to good Western, it has to be authentic.
40:08Any time that it's anything else, it seems like it's making fun of what Western culture is.
40:14It looked like a really bad costume party.
40:16It really did.
40:17Yeah, I hate it.
40:18You would never wear that.
40:19No.
40:20Right.
40:21This is recycled fashion, and it should be recycled.
40:23All right.
40:24Let's bring them back out.
40:25Okay.
40:26See you later.
40:27Bye.
40:28Ah.
40:32Yuchen, BJ, and Ethan.
40:35We've made our decision.
40:39I don't think I'm nervous for myself.
40:41However, it's a tight game between BJ and Yuchen.
40:46And Yuchen, he's been a really good friend in this competition.
40:50So I want BJ to go home.
40:55Ethan, you're safe.
40:56You can leave the runway.
40:57Thank you all so much.
41:03Yuchen, BJ, one of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
41:07I know my confidence has been shaken, but I just hope the judges decide to keep me in the competition.
41:16I'm scared.
41:17I did everything that I can to stand out in this competition.
41:20I've waited for this opportunity for so long, and I can't go home yet.
41:29Next time on Project Runway, you will be making a look for women and men who struggle with eczema.
41:35Where do you want to get married?
41:36Mexico, for sure.
41:37Are we on a date right now?
41:38I just can't do friends.
41:39Everything Jewel is saying might send me home.
41:42I think that sweater is giving me nightmares.
41:44I'm trying to be quiet because you know people, they try some ideas.
41:47You really just didn't listen to him.
41:49It's Kate Middleton in 2006, drunk in the back of a cab.
41:52She just looked frumpy.
41:53I did not like this at all.
41:55What's the biggest sin?
41:56A sloppy toppy or a mismatch mess?
42:00I love you.
