05:08sketching thank you I can't even draw kids designers that have been winning
05:18the challenges are really taking a chance doing something that's a little
05:22more innovative designing a kimono sleeve romper maybe that's the headspace
05:27I need to get into really just try to push myself creating something that's a
05:31little more unusual find a way to interject Anthony into a little girl's
05:35dress when I celebrate the feminine silhouette and the volume honey so girls
05:40ain't got no booties or no breasts so I'm not exactly sure how this is gonna work
05:43and you know I'm so about what's appropriate the thing that's coming to my
05:47mind is a trip I took to Paris and there were a lot of school children sketching
05:52at the Pompidou Center so I've got this sort of schoolgirl Madeline kind of theme
05:57going this is a tricky challenge anyone can go home on this one I think all the
06:03designers are going to try to be innovative and put too much of
06:06themselves into the design and I'm just going the opposite way I'm designing a
06:11pretty little dress it's a very quiet room we're concentrating it's a very
06:17difficult well you can still concentrate but you have to leave your table because
06:21we're going to move all right designers your 30 minutes starts right now the most key element in
06:33this design is going to be the best hoodie and I want to do it out of black
06:38checker or houndstooth it needs to be black and white you know it's basic stretch
06:43cotton where is it I was a little girl oh look that's a pretty color for her I
07:01think pink might be a cliche half a yard of yellow I think we need to be a little
07:06bit more forward designers you have ten minutes remaining where's this black and
07:12white checker they don't have it one minute remains
07:20I'm hauling ass and I come across the houndstooth find it upstairs in the wool
07:27knit time's up no more shopping you have to get a line now I got it thank you mood
07:36now it's entirely up to me to deliver that vision
07:39this weird draping seems like it's a lot quicker on a form that doesn't have any shape
07:47it's a lot of black in this room for kids children nowadays are very fashion forward especially when
07:58you're eight when you're at that age you move on to wearing sophisticated pieces so I'm going for
08:05something like a plum color grounded with navy blue at this point I'm feeling pretty great
08:12about the piece that I have you know Jonathan you'd save a lot of time if you just bought fabric you're
08:18always making it being all creative I will not limit myself to what the fabric store sells I'm going to do a
08:25dress under a short bolero jacket and the short bolero jacket will have some strips of different colors of
08:33organdy I think Michael Kors is really going to like it he's like she looks like a seven-year-old waitress
08:39from Benihara the look in the end will be fun and at the same time be sophisticated and modern
08:45it's as if memoirs of a geisha Matt Barney
08:48since I really like color blocking I just decide to do an a-line dress something kind of 60s it's
09:05modelicious and it's color blocked imagine that when I first started Project Runway I wasn't getting
09:11along with people oh good nobody dared go near my machine top two top two but now that I'm more
09:21centered in the workroom I'm getting along much better with other designers add some color blocking
09:27to your life has color block the pain that could be a sermon
09:41my design is very simple when my sister and I were like seven she was in a school play and she
09:47was a butterfly and she wore this little red romper thing and I was always so jealous of her I need to
09:53make that you know people are going all out on this you know lots of seaming lots of details but
10:00this needs to be something that a little girl would want your models gonna be such a badass in that
10:07you're gonna beat up my model in the playground she can be hardcore this is what they learn and
10:12how old is your daughter she's 11 now she went through this phase and they still kind of do this
10:16pop rock stuff I know I like traditional little kids kids want to be interested in their clothes
10:22they don't want some dull boring Easter dress they want sock they want hoodies they want layers make the
10:29clothes fun I get eliminated because of a kid that's what I'm saying
10:37I think it's really odd that we haven't seen Tim all day do we think we're gonna get a little twist
10:52thrown into this challenge or what who knows if there's a twist in this challenge I actually feel
10:58pretty good about where I'm at but I think some other people would be completely thrown for a loop
11:06I just feel like it's so yellow when I leave the workroom I'm a little bit worried I don't think
11:11this is gonna be enough for the judges I know it's not extremely innovative as a design but I'm hoping
11:19you'll see that it's appropriate for children's wear
11:21while your hair has gotten big go big or go home that case let me have some of that oh my god
11:38you're fine I'm worried today though honestly well you're always worried I'm not worried for you yeah
11:43you're always worried when I wake up I'm still a little bit worried Jordan hi it's me being away

11:59when you're when you're really trying at something and you're struggling I just would die for a hug and a
12:06kiss right now good morning designers how is everybody I have a nice surprise for you
12:20whenever Tim comes in with that sly little look on his face and his eyes gleaming you know this trouble
12:29these looks will not be walking the runway today really they'll be walking the runway tomorrow okay
12:40with a corresponding look for your model it's good news it's a great great great challenge but it's not
12:50to be a maxi me from a mini me you really have to reconceive this for an adult you will have 15
12:56minutes to sketch okay then we're going to mood we'll have a budget of $100 and I'm also very
13:02pleased to tell you that the winner of this challenge will have immunity okay have fun damn what am I
13:10gonna come up with it's gonna correspond with a pink cupcake how am I gonna translate this little
13:16five-year-old princess dress for my model Holly who's like six foot tall Amazon I am screwed
13:24I'm really excited about this because then I have a chance to do something that's more elaborate
13:33and create an entire new look that will enhance the children's world look a little bit necklines can get
13:39lower hemlines can get higher we can do more of like the sexy high fashion things that we're normally
13:45used to doing are you not sketching I took all my likes and put it into child's it's everything that
13:56I love to do so to translate that from child to adult I think it's gonna be pretty simple all right
14:03everyone let's head off to mood let's go all right everyone I have your hundred dollars and you have 20
14:13minutes to shop it'll be plenty of time your 20 minutes begins now
14:25when I think of the word companion piece I think it needs to be in the same show it needs to be in the
14:30same season the same color story it needs to have that same sensibility 10 minutes everybody they
14:37don't have anything that's a gray and red mixture and a prince is kind of interesting but I do find a
14:42black and white paisley design I feel like it has sort of that French flair a little bit still I'm just
14:48going with my gut designers that's it everybody has to get in line now thank you thank you mood
14:56thank you this is hard challenge because I felt like I put so much into this first outfit and then
15:05you've got to like make another look that's just as strong I know you want even more genius God
15:10a little close but we will see I just really like the idea of going from a skirt to a pant I have all
15:21these colors that I'm trying to work with and arrange and create a kind of graphic element but I have
15:27no clue at all how it's gonna come all together my feet hurt I feel like I'm working the chicken shack
15:43for something today yeah my mom has a bad cough so everybody in church is like who was that hacking
15:52out they lungs during service when Anthony opens his mouth he'll weave a story so in your mind you
15:59could tell she like damn please you made me forget my measurement there I'm sorry sister I won't talk
16:06my mom yeah right are y'all like trying to beat me how long I can go without talking I'm putting
16:12down for 22 minutes seven minutes at the most I said five let's go now wait a minute wait you
16:19already saw you can't even do it we challenged him to see how far he could go without having to say
16:24anything

16:34I don't want to hear any more about me being quiet oh my gosh you can get a lot down you shut the
17:02look I'm still not gonna talk to you no one panic no twists just me Jonathan I love what
17:10you've done here thank you the cotton organza was a last night decision I thought the dress was very
17:17plain and it was very yellow I'm okay I'm with you so what's going on with the look for your mom okay
17:22so this is just the base right now and I bought more of the white cotton organza and this is actually
17:27going to be over the entire dress well it's gonna be an attention grabber absolutely
17:31okay all right thank you Jonathan thank you Tim for the older version I'm using that fabric twice
17:38I really love it you are really rocking Halloween here with the black and this corally orange I see
17:44these colors as being pink and black and white I would never design something inspired by Halloween
17:50because I hate Halloween just be prepared for a response to that so Amy you have a little
17:57factory here what are you doing so to go back to my little girls look taking that same type of petal
18:04shape mixing up the colors and actually laying it onto another fabric and making it into a loose
18:10fitting pants these pants will either stop the show or it's gonna be clown clothes I completely
18:16understand that I'm running that risk right now I'm thrilled that you are you know it's a lot better
18:21than playing it safe I'm not gonna waste any more of your time do it okay this is my completed child's
18:29look including small handbag my daughter she collects handbags at this age she had like 200 of
18:34them what yeah let's look at your other look okay what I have done is stitched on to create a hounds you
18:43know it's not houndstooth no but it's but it gives it that effect I'm really excited about what you all are
18:48doing thank you Seth Aaron thank you all right designers your models are going to be coming in
18:53shortly both of them and I want you to know I am profoundly wowed wowed thank you everybody make it
19:01work thanks Tim I'll model for let class you talk fits you too like I don't need to do a lot
19:12so he says she likes it I just like to get a smile out of her I think you will win well no matter what
19:20happens it's going to be a lot of fun wait a minute where y'all mama what
19:26Fabriana feels a little like this about her dress me work it girl yeah see you tomorrow that one

19:50really wish I had at least one leg done so I could kind of see what this whole thing is going to look

19:59because Holly's so tall and I'm making this so long I am very concerned over this challenge I'm not
20:08showing it though I never let them see me sweat I'm feeling like I'm gonna at least be safe for the
20:15runway I've been on the bottom before and I've had a scathing review and I just want to get through this
20:25one we have until 10 30 right yeah okay so I'll get as much as I can done done done done done the models
20:44are coming in and then the kids are coming in so I know that I'm not gonna have the entire time to be
20:51working on steps I'm kind of nervous about that I'm taking a risk right now I'm gonna either be in
21:00the top three or the bottom three I'm not running anywhere in the middle because it's gonna be a
21:04standout piece you know Amy's pants are really designed and I just don't know how those are gonna
21:10look once they're out there that's why I'm here I want to stand out good morning designers I'm about
21:22to send your models you will have an hour each to send them to the Garnier hair salon and the L'Oreal
21:28Paris makeup room use the bluefly.com wall very thoughtfully very strategically it's the source for
21:34your accessories thank you everybody I'm going to send your models the work room is a little bit
21:49like romper room on crack there's little girls cuttings random scraps of fabric they're making
21:55accessories for each other the designers are having heart palpitations it's it's all over the place
22:00this is work oh they bad my job's 77 I am just completely not custom to dealing with so many
22:11little children my older sister is my dog your older sister's your dog I'm absolutely amazed by their
22:19conversations I just started first grade my dog don't do like your dog do y'all have an off switch

23:17halfway point and then to really start pulling out the big tricks for the judges do you think my mom is

23:29designers models and young lady models in 10 minutes we're going down to the runway and we want a nice

23:51for me that's rare but I think there's worse because there's over design Jonathan's mother dress just went
23:58to a whole another place all right let's go down to the runway everybody this could either be a
24:08ridiculous runway show because we're all going to march out some weird-ass costume or this could
24:14all be genius is that it all right everybody welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day you're
24:28in and the next day you're out there are 11 of you here and after tonight there will be 10 now more than
24:37ever children are becoming little fashionistas so with that in mind the first part of your challenge
24:42was to design an age-appropriate and fashionable children's look then we gave you a little twist
24:48we asked you to create a companion look for an adult all right let's meet the judges first we have top
24:55American designer Michael course hey guys fashion director of Marie Claire magazine Nina Garcia hello
25:04American designer whose lifestyle brand is very popular among women of all ages including little
25:11girls Tory Burch we will score your designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named the
25:21winner and one of you will be out let's start the show two looks that I created are very cohesive through
25:34style lines coloring the ruffle detail all of those things it looks really beautiful on the runway
25:40when they came out it was so graphic and fun I don't know how it's going to be received but I know that
25:52it's creative it's a different and it's inspiring
25:56I'm extremely pleased with the two looks and think that I kept my inspiration and my design intact and I'm very proud of that
26:11I'm ecstatic it's exactly what I was going for now whether they're going to see my interpretation as
26:21I see it that's yet to be decided I mean I wouldn't change a damn thing
26:25everything looks really good up there on the runway everything is moving really well when you get it
26:35onto the runway you're not always sure how well it's going to move it looks like a comfortable and
26:39uncute little girl's outfit I think alexis looks great the dress really fits her perfectly so I'm super excited about that
26:51Seeing Brandeis's dress on the runway is like a such a wow moment for me the pedals are moving the way they were
26:57supposed to the color looks gorgeous on her and it's just really stunning
27:05I'm so excited about my two outfits it's my first time doing children's wear and I think she
27:09looks absolutely great I'm so happy with my jacket it was such a risk with such a bright color but I
27:16think I really turned it out
27:21When I see Haley and Carrie together completely dressed I think they look so adorable they just
27:27look so cute and I'm very pleased with the way the two outfits look together
27:30Lauren she was so adorable on that runway and she looked like a little princess and Holly looked like
27:46a very very well kept expensive mother
27:55I'm happy I mean I know that it's a really simple look and I think they look great together you know

29:22Jesse tell us about your two looks
29:24Well first the big red coat kind of popped into my head and then I wanted to match it with just
29:29something a little bit more interesting so I did the the a-line section kind of skewed and then with the the next
29:35day challenge decided just to kind of do the very streamlined and tailored look I think you did a
29:39good job I would have preferred the dress to be straight well with the detail in the back
29:45it's actually skewed I think that informs the whole thing a little bit more I think it's the job
29:51well done I love the color combos and also you attempted to do some real tailoring with that coat
29:57I like that you chose gray because I like uh unusual colors on little girls
30:02Reva how do you like your outfit
30:06I think it looks adorable I think the hair accessories is adorable and I think
30:12the model mom looks pretty good
30:15Seth Aaron tell us about your two looks
30:18It's all about comfort so all my fabrics are really soft that was important
30:22coarse pink and white a must denim and I just added my wave flare to it which is zippers
30:28hardware and then we got to put the stars with the labels and so pulling off that inspiration I was
30:35able to step into my mod new wave feel hardware skinnies and zipper details first I want to know
30:44from Sydney how you like your outfit I like it what do you like about it about the purse
30:51you have an adult's look and a child's look that are both really super and strong and I have to say
30:58that this jacket is the best tailored garment we have seen this season wow this outfit on a little
31:06girl seems to me like the something that a little girl would dream of wearing and it's not something
31:11that I've seen before you thought about the purse you thought about integrating your style into this
31:18so bravo thank you really good Jay tell us about your two looks Savannah is my model she's eight
31:25so I did this drop waist dress with the ruffling around the the hip and then I paired it back to a
31:30pair of denim with the gold lurex and then with my model I mimic the ruffling detail I wanted to make her
31:37more adult and more sophisticated so I've decided to go with the blacks a lot of design and a lot of
31:44thought has gone into it it's not just like a simple little dress I think that Monique and Savannah
31:50they look really chic when I first saw it I said wow you know that that's a couple mother daughter
31:56that I would notice walking down the street together they look like a really striking pair and it's that
32:02feeling of modern urban New York and cool Savannah do you like your look mm-hmm I really do you also
32:10did a fantastic job on the runway today thank you good job okay we've heard what you had to say now
32:15we're going to talk to the ones with the lowest scores and then we'll bring you back out you can
32:19leave the runway thank you thank you Janine tell us about your two looks when I started thinking
32:32about children's wear I thought about being comfortable being active I know I just wanted
32:38something that she could run around in all day and it would be like her favorite dress I'm not sure if I
32:44like the fact that it was so plain I think I would have liked to see more whimsy and it's too simple
32:53it's a design competition the whole combination is awful it looks like a cheap mall outfit and that
32:58has nothing to do with you you did a fantastic job on the runway today thank you I like leggings on a
33:04little girl but I think a different top would have been better something that was a little more unusual a
33:09little different the jacket just looks really like a home ec project there's nothing polished
33:15about that jacket Jonathan tell us about your looks well I started with the fabulous Fabriana I wanted
33:22to give her an outfit that was a little girl's dress but with an edge when we worked backwards into the
33:28adult look I chose to create a textile with cotton organza using the same sleeve treatment and actually the
33:35same silver cotton sateen which is the jacket of Fabriana's outfit it looks so uncomfortable that
33:40little bolera is that comfortable it's kind of like pushing into my skin I think you have the opposite
33:48problem than Jennie you went too sophisticated too conceptual I understood that this was a risk
33:55I definitely wanted to take a risk you know I get what you were going for here but she literally looks
34:01like she got caught in a tornado of toilet paper and think about the body my god if she looks like
34:07toilet paper what is a normal woman gonna look like Amy tell us about your look for beautiful
34:13Caitlyn I did a little petal skirt I kind of created the textile myself using tonal oranges
34:19and for Allison I use the same color palette and I use the same shape as the petals and I'm actually
34:26really excited about it I have a feeling Amy that it wasn't intentional Caitlyn looks like the house
34:33is on fire and she grabbed every garment in the house and she just ran out of the house and then
34:39mom I mean those pants are just a train wreck the entire effect is very confusing circus like it's
34:49it's weird I think it's hideous it's just bizarre I actually like it a little bit what's
34:58your favorite piece it would be the sweater but would you wear it together with Amy I have a trust
35:03your fashion sense okay I think my biggest problem with it is the color palette and and
35:09it's really throwing me because I don't really feel those colors work together I don't file find
35:15it necessarily that and appealing but I do think it is it's a different color combination definitely
35:21okay we've heard what you had to say we're going to have a little chat and then we call you back

35:34okay let's talk about the designers with the highest scores let's start with Jessie yes it was a very
