00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03You will be working in teams of two
00:05to create a high-end signature look.
00:08I would choose JC.
00:10Ah.
00:11I'll build the pants.
00:13It's very difficult to work with JC.
00:16I want to see my f***ing dress.
00:17I'm just trying to rein in the crazy.
00:19Wow, that's the fabric?
00:21If you're not doing it right, get the hell out of my way.
00:23I think it's beautifully done.
00:25Nita, congratulations.
00:29You're the winner of this challenge.
00:32Ping, that means you're out.
00:36Anthony, you choose which model we'll be in.
00:39There, today is your day.
00:42That means you're out.
00:44This is Project Runway.
00:46Yes!
00:47I am fashion.
00:48Look at me.
00:49The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:51It's cut or be cut.
00:53Just make it work.
00:54Sixteen designers.
00:56Great clothes.
00:57Great style.
00:58I've got it all.
00:59Three finalists will make it to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
01:03We won't do anything to win.
01:04I will.
01:05But only one can be the winner.
01:08My weapon of choice.
01:09For these sixteen designers,
01:11Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:14The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread
01:17in Marie Claire magazine.
01:18An opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com.
01:21A $50,000 technology suite to create, design, and run their business from HP and Intel.
01:27And $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to launch their line.
01:31Look at that empty bed.
01:36I wasn't too surprised that Ping was sent home because she had been in the bottom three before.
01:43And at this point I'm sort of bonding with Janine.
01:46She's my last roommate left.
01:48It's hard to bond with people really though because we're all competing against each other.
01:52So as I move into the fourth challenge, I'm really, really excited to still be in this competition.
02:00I do really want my dream to come true.
02:02I want to make it a Bryan Park.
02:04And I think that I'm actually already showing the judges that I'm capable of designing amazing stuff.
02:09So are you nervous to make a comeback from the bottom of the barrel?
02:14It wasn't my fault we were in the bottom.
02:16I feel like I really just need to get everything from the last challenge out of my mind and really just approach this one fresh.
02:22I think I can hopefully just come out strong and get myself out of that bottom area.
02:26I miss my dog so much.
02:29Me too.
02:30I feel like I'm a little buddy with Mila because we're similar in a lot of ways.
02:34She's kind of like the older version of me, which is kind of funny.
02:37Like we wear a lot of the same colors and we kind of have similar personalities.
02:41But, you know, of course she's competition because we have similar styles.
02:46Ta-da.
02:47I know that I'm where you are.
02:48I don't know why you're dating so well.
02:50Ladies.
02:51My apartment.
02:53Hello.
02:54Hi.
02:55Hi.
02:56Mila, you won the last challenge and that is going to give you immunity.
03:09And you cannot be eliminated.
03:10Yay.
03:11For your next challenge, you will be designing a look for a Fashion Week Gala.
03:16Woo!
03:17And Tim is waiting for you to fill in on all the details.
03:22He will also introduce you to a group of very inspiring women.
03:27Good luck and I see you on the runway.
03:30Heidi, she's very vague, but she says you will be working with very inspirational women.
03:37And that just, that leaves it open for anything.
03:40Good morning, designers.
03:41Good morning, Tim.
03:43I am delighted to introduce you to Lisa Walker, Vice President of Innovation for Campbell's Soup Company.
03:49Campbell's is proud to team up with the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Movement
03:54to create signature Campbell red dresses for our Campbell's Address Your Heart Program.
03:58These dresses have been worn by top celebrities at the Red Dress Awards during Fashion Week.
04:02And this gala is designed to honor women who have been personally impacted by this disease.
04:06So designers, with that in mind, your challenge is to create this year's signature dress for the Campbell's Address Your Heart Program.
04:13And in keeping with tradition, red must be a prominent color in your dress.
04:18And the Campbell branding must be present.
04:20All right.
04:21Lisa has very kindly provided us with Campbell-branded fabric that you can use in your dress if you choose.
04:26Or you can create your own brand elements using supplemental fabric or a combination of both.
04:31And there is one more very exciting dimension to this challenge.
04:36You will be designing for a very inspiring group of women.
04:40Let's meet them.
04:47I want you to know that each of these amazing women has in some form or another been impacted by heart disease.
04:54And the winning design will be worn by one of these amazing ladies to the Red Dress Awards during New York Fashion Week.
05:01And the winning designer will accompany their muse to the event.
05:05I'm just so excited.
05:10It's already feeling very emotional.
05:12And if there was one challenge that I could win besides making it to the final three, this would be it.
05:18If we get to go to the gala event during Fashion Week, it would really mean the world to me.
05:22And the winning design will be put into limited production and sold on projectrunway.com to benefit the American Heart Association.
05:30Our models for this challenge have been randomly assigned to us.
05:37I'm a little nervous, but I'm actually excited to be able to work with a real woman.
05:42Designers, I'm going to send you into the workroom with your new models.
05:45You will have 30 minutes to have a discussion and to sketch your design idea.
05:49Then we are going shopping at Mood.
05:52Okay?
05:53Take it away!
05:57Our models are all women impacted by heart disease.
06:01These women have overcome so much and suffered so much that this challenge instantly becomes very personally important to all the designers.
06:08So what's your story?
06:09My heart stops.
06:10Apparently it stops whenever I get dehydrated, I get too hot, I stand for too long.
06:16On the top of my heart, you communicate with the bottom.
06:19Okay.
06:20So the pacemaker basically is running the entire time.
06:23I have two kids.
06:24I'm married for 34 years.
06:26Julie, she's an amazing woman.
06:29I mean, we started talking about how she died for two minutes.
06:33I've never met anyone in my whole entire life who died and came back to life.
06:37To hear a story like that is just so inspiring.
06:40Yeah.
06:41Oh my God.
06:42So you're going to make me pretty because I survived, right?
06:43You know what?
06:44I would like to design something classy or sassy.
06:45My biggest challenge is coming up with something that's going to flatter her body and still read,
06:58theme dress, gala, not something you can buy off the rack.
07:01I can do a really good detail where this fabric is pleated.
07:06That way you have the Campbell hair.
07:08I'm really excited because she's really, really tiny.
07:11And I'm going to make her a fitted dress, which is what she wants.
07:14Love it.
07:15Love it.
07:16We could do something that's like a V-neckline.
07:19You want a long dress?
07:20Okay.
07:21More of like a chiffon, like a silky flowing dress you like?
07:25Okay.
07:26Well, I'm just going to do a cutout of a star.
07:29Okay.
07:30I decide with my model actually that we're going to use the star icon because it is present
07:36on the Campbell's soup can.
07:38I kind of like the idea of maybe it being like right at your knee.
07:41I'm open.
07:42Okay.
07:43I'm open.
07:44Okay.
07:45I know that I have immunity, but it doesn't make me want to work any less.
07:49And wow, if I can win another one, two in a row, why not?
07:53I want it to be youthful and I want it to be elegant, you know, at the same time.
07:57So, Caitlin really likes the idea of doing a cutout back and doing something sexy and fresh.
08:02So, it's going to have the structure that I'm usually doing, but it'll have a little bit more of an elegance to it.
08:08It will work.
08:09That's it.
08:10You are hilarious.
08:12She's been dealing with hypertension for so long, and just to know that I can make her feel special in this moment,
08:19that meant a lot to me because I had to move my mother with me to Georgia because she just got out of heart surgery.
08:27I mean, people don't know what you go through.
08:31Like, when my mom came out of heart surgery, I was like, oh my God.
08:37I know what it's like to have someone who's gone through complications with their heart, and it is no thing to take for granted.
08:45Well, like I said, you use me as the model, but you use your mom as the inspiration.
08:50You're right.
08:51Okay, Tish, I don't like tears, so clean them up. We cannot be in here crying.
08:55What can you do to that girl?
08:59Designers, it's time to say farewell to your models, only temporarily.
09:03It's going to be wonderful.
09:05I'll make you look beautiful.
09:07I know you will.
09:08Thank you so much. We'll see you later.
09:10All right, designers, grab whatever you need. We're going to Mood.
09:18All right, designers, I have your $100 budget.
09:20Around Mood, you will find bins filled with red fabric that is within the brand color story.
09:25But you're not limited to these fabrics.
09:28All right, everybody, 30 minutes. Your time starts now.
09:34Jen and I are on the same page, and she loves her legs and her shoulders.
09:39So we're doing a really cute, flirty cocktail dress in a beautiful, fiery red.
09:45I mean, does this look cheap to you?
09:47This looks awfully Valentine's Day.
09:48Ah!
09:49I decided to go with a jacket, and it needs to be a nice fabric.
09:51I can't go with something cheap.
09:52No, I don't have enough money for that.
09:54Keep your jersey, jersey pink.
09:56No.
09:57I have to get my boney.
10:01All right, designers, that's time.
10:03Time is up. Everyone needs to be in line.
10:05You're at 96.43.
10:07Awesome.
10:08Thank you, Mood.
10:09Thank you, Mood.
10:10Thank you, Mood.
10:11Thank you, everyone.
10:12Make it work.
10:13I know you will.
10:15Thank you, Mood.
10:16Thank you, Mood.
10:17Thank you, Mood.
10:18Thank you, Mood.
10:19Thank you, Mood.
10:20Thank you, Mood.
10:21You have until midnight tonight.
10:22A little bit of time tomorrow, but very little.
10:26So, this is a one-day challenge.
10:28These women are not 34, 25, 35.
10:32So, to make a gala-worthy gown in 10 hours is daunting.
10:37Thank you, everyone.
10:38Make it work.
10:39I know you will.
10:42I'm self-taught as a fashion designer, but I just spent four years studying printmaking,
10:47and I'm tracing the Campbell's logo onto red chiffon.
10:51It's something that'll be different.
10:52It'll set me aside from everyone else.
10:55My model and I are really attracted to the shape of the heart, and we wanted to use that,
11:00but not in a very literal sense, so the dress wouldn't look to Valentine's Day,
11:04but in more of an abstract form on the dress to represent the cause.
11:09I am more stressed than usual.
11:11You know, she's going to be walking down a runway for the first time,
11:14and the last thing I want is for her to feel unattractive.
11:18So, it's a lot of pressure.
11:20The models are size four, size six, you know, stuff we do every day.
11:24We don't even have to make a pattern.
11:25We can cut that blindfolded.
11:27This is honestly the largest challenge that I've ever faced as a designer.
11:46Three facets of this challenge is that, A, we're designing for real women.
11:49B, red has to be our predominant color in our design.
11:52And C, we have to somehow incorporate Campbell's branding into our design.
11:57Three very difficult things to do.
11:59They're not, like, totally disgusting, right?
12:01That's beautiful. I like the lines.
12:04Oh, shoot!
12:07The fabric is alive.
12:09It literally moves and has a line of its own.
12:12Every time I cut it or sew it, it's a different shape.
12:15I don't even know what the front or back is at this point.
12:17Guess there will be a seam there.
12:19These are gonna be double and then understitch underneath the other side.
12:24When I met Julie, I said to myself, I need to make her look taller.
12:28So, design that I had in mind, there's a lot of vertical lines going on.
12:32So, I'm hoping, you know, that it's gonna work for her.
12:35How's it going?
12:36Good, how are you?
12:37Good.
12:38Can you hold that right there?
12:39Nadine comes in and, you know, I'm still working on the chiffon,
12:43but it's not even attached together to put on the dress yet.
12:46I hope that she's not too nervous, or at least not as nervous as I am.
12:51It's looking good.
12:53I'm excited because I think I'm satisfying one of my primary goals,
12:57which is to create an empowering experience for Stephanie.
13:00Oh, impressive.
13:02There you go.
13:03Slide your other arm over there.
13:05So, Jen comes back, far-fitting, and I'm glad I didn't cut yet,
13:08because there were parts that I needed to adjust
13:10and pieces I need to extend and tuck.
13:13Many people are just not accustomed to using anything besides model-sized women,
13:18and these women represent all different shapes and sizes.
13:22You're gonna rock this dress.
13:24You're gonna work it.
13:25We rocked the wrong way.
13:27You're so talented.
13:28The dress is exactly what we said we were gonna do this morning.
13:31Amazing.
13:32Your mommy will be proud.
13:34She will be proud.
13:35She will be proud.
13:36Yeah?
13:37Me, my twin brother, and my other brother grew up with having a single mother,
13:39so it's really, really rough.
13:41But my past has made me so passionate about what I want to do,
13:44which is fashion, because it's taking me so far already,
13:47and, I mean, there's so many more years to come.
13:49I'm happy here.
13:50I mean, all of this is making me happy.
13:52It's just a front.
13:53This is why we're here.
13:54Let's talk about it.
13:55Yeah, I mean, other than that, it's gorgeous.
13:57Sweet, sweet Rose.
13:59I loved Rose.
14:00She started going into what I was thinking,
14:03and she started talking about Grecian draping and pintuck,
14:06and I've done a few of those, but it's really not known as my style.
14:11Oh, I love it so much.
14:13Okay.
14:14I really, really do.
14:15Bottom line is I want to make Rose happy.
14:16She's been through a lot of .
14:18The doctor just said, hey, how long have you had a heart murmur?
14:20And I just looked at the doctor and said, excuse me?
14:25Designing for somebody specifically that I can meet and speak with is actually quite helpful,
14:31because I can get inspired by Beth's personality.
14:34I really want to bring that out in what she's wearing.
14:37You know, I need to put Beth in this dress.
14:39It's amazing.
14:40Would you really, like, look at me and think I had open-heart surgery?
14:42Seriously?
14:43No, no.
14:44For a lot of the women here today?
14:45It is so cute on you.
14:47It's amazing.
14:48A lot of these women that are still happy and smiling and can motivate us.
14:53It definitely put a spin on the competition for me,
14:56because prior to this challenge, it was all about me, me, me, me, me, me.
15:02But after meeting the ladies, you realize that there are greater things in this world
15:07than just winning a challenge.
15:10Thank you, sweetie.
15:11I'm sweating.
15:12I'm so sorry.
15:13All right. Bye.
15:25There's a bucket of water right here, and I just dip my dress in it.
15:29Of course my dress takes a dunk in a bucket of water.
15:34Can't do anything with me?
15:35Of course.
15:36Of course.
15:37Because I'm Janine.
15:38This happens to me.
15:39But I have to make this work.
15:41So moving on, you know?
15:47Hello, Tim.
15:48How is everyone?
15:49We're good.
15:50You're doing well?
15:51Yes, sir.
15:52All right.
15:53Well, I want to check in with you.
15:54Okay.
15:55And see for myself.
15:56Okay.
15:57Hey, Jesse.
15:58Good.
15:59How is it going for you?
16:00I want to keep it real simple.
16:01She's got a real full figure, and I want to just try to slim her and heighten her.
16:05And then I'm going to do a jacket, and it's basically this shape, and it'll come down lower,
16:11and the sweetheart neckline will pop out from it.
16:13Without this jacket, I don't think you have very much in terms of fashion.
16:17Stop telling me that.
16:18But it's true.
16:19Anna.
16:20Hi, Tim.
16:21How are you?
16:22I'm good.
16:23I'm challenged to break up sort of her body shape visually so that it complements her figure.
16:29And then this, I started going in this direction because I wanted to...
16:32What is that?
16:33I just traced with a pen the detailing.
16:36Oh.
16:37So I wanted to do something that was a little more subtle.
16:40Nice.
16:41Actually.
16:42So, Mila, how are you doing?
16:44Hey there, Tim.
16:45I'm using red and ivory taffeta.
16:47Oh, I like this with the stars.
16:49The star wraps around the back, and I actually think it's going to be flattering.
16:53And you had a fitting.
16:55How did it go?
16:56Yes.
16:57She's a really tough fit.
16:58Well, frankly, I'm glad that we have an opportunity to work with real women for just this reason,
17:03because it's a good lesson.
17:04And there's a strategy, too, to, you know, with proportion and the shape.
17:07You're doing it.
17:08And the shape.
17:09Jesus, so talk to me.
17:10Okay, so I have Trisha.
17:12Mm-hmm.
17:13She said she wanted something really fitted, and she wanted to show her cleavage.
17:17So I did a...
17:18You've done both.
17:19And then I incorporated the fabric, which I think I did pretty well because it doesn't look cheap.
17:23Mm-hmm.
17:24She absolutely loves it.
17:25It fits her really good.
17:26Oh, good.
17:27You got her into it.
17:28Yeah.
17:29Hi, Mila.
17:30Hello.
17:31Talk to me.
17:32I want to embrace sort of the heart shape.
17:34I see it.
17:35Yeah.
17:36But I don't know if I'll have time, but I really wanted to make a cocktail purse with the Campbell's
17:40print.
17:41I'd do it.
17:42Yeah.
17:43So how's Amy?
17:44I'm still trying to get the foundation done.
17:46Okay.
17:47I'm really concerned about fit with this challenge just because I want her to feel really comfortable
17:51and like it's fitting her correctly.
17:53I wanted to leave her left side open.
17:55She has a scar here that, you know, she used to hide, and now she kind of is proud of going
18:00through which she's gone, so I kind of want to focus on-
18:02It's a badge of courage.
18:03Exposing that, absolutely.
18:04Yeah.
18:05Work away here.
18:06Okay.
18:07Okay, thank you, Amy.
18:08Thanks, Tim.
18:09Seth Aaron, when did you go Grecian on us?
18:11Two hours ago.
18:12What happened?
18:13I have Rose.
18:14She flipped out over it.
18:16I said I want to make her happy.
18:18I don't dislike this.
18:19I think it has a beautiful, graceful elegance.
18:22But if someone gave me a quiz and asked me which designer in this room this belonged to,
18:26you'd probably be the last one on the list.
18:28I could see that.
18:30It shouldn't compromise who you are as a designer because, in the end,
18:34who you're really pleasing are the judges.
18:36Right.
18:37I'm not advancing the plot here.
18:39I'm going to let you get back to work.
18:43All right, designers.
18:44I'm going to leave you for the night, and I fully expect when I walk in here tomorrow
18:48that everything will be done.
18:50Okay, Tim.
18:51Okay.
18:52Thank you all.
18:59Tim gives me his critique, and I thought for a second.
19:03I can't lose myself within the client and not represent myself on the runway.
19:08So, I grab that Grecian gown and I tear it off the mannequin and say,
19:13I got two and a half hours before, for the end of the day.
19:17I'm going to give it my all and make it happen.
19:20I want my mommy.
19:23I think Anna is going to have an issue with her garment.
19:26Just the overall construction and Jay's dress is really, I don't know what it is.
19:32It's a train wreck.
19:35I think everyone is going to have to really pull something out of a bag,
19:39because we are all pressed for time.
19:41Nobody's done.
19:42I'm in bad shape.
19:43I have a lot of work to do still.
19:45Everybody's kind of in the same place.
19:47I don't expect us to make an evening gown in one day.
19:51People are kind of freaking out.
19:53I'm going to have had to freak yourself.
19:54Do you see it?
19:56These women have gone through enough.
20:08The last thing you want to put them through is, ma'am, not only did you survive heart disease,
20:13now you have to survive Nina and Michael Kors and Heidi Klum telling you how horrible I have made you look in this garment.
20:20Yeah, exactly.
20:21I did everything at a quarter instead of a half, even though I patterned it at a half.
20:26I have a lot to get done.
20:28Yeah, you do.
20:29It'll be amazing if I can pull it off.
20:32After you.
20:35Hi-ho.
20:36Hi-ho.
20:37Who are you calling ho?
20:44Wow, there's a lot of red in here.
20:46I am very country for time this morning.
20:48I have like 70% of the dress to get done,
20:52and I'm very, very nervous about making sure that it fits her and being something that's interesting.
20:57I'm a little worried for Seth.
20:59Just a couple hours before the end of the night, he started to make another look,
21:02and I'm hoping that it's going to work out for him.
21:06After running through a few different designs,
21:08I decided to take the retro Campbell's soup approach, is what I call it.
21:17This is more of a couture gown than a couture gown.
21:24Since we all did red dresses, it's kind of like comparing oranges to oranges,
21:30or apples to apples in this case.
21:32Each one needed to be a little bit different to stand out.
21:35Every single one of us is very worried at this point.
21:39There are a couple of designers that are pretty much done,
21:42but I don't think that any of the designs, including mine,
21:45are really as great as they could be if we had more time.
21:48Shoot.
21:51Good morning, designers.
21:53We'll be sending in your models shortly.
21:55You will each have an hour to send them to the Garnier Hair Salon
21:58and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room.
22:00If they're bringing in their own shoes,
22:02then use the bluefly.com wall for accessories.
22:05Okay, go, go, go.
22:08Good morning.
22:10How are you today, sweetie?
22:12Good morning.
22:13Good morning.
22:14If I could spit it on you real quick to make sure...
22:16I feel rushed a little bit
22:18because making sure that everything lays the way I think it should,
22:23I'm working right up to the last moment.
22:25Oh, very nice.
22:26Yeah?
22:27Very nice.
22:28I think it looks good.
22:29And I think that knuckles is good too.
22:31Oh, I just need to roll it and hem it.
22:33Perfect.
22:34That's great.
22:35Like, it's okay.
22:36What is that?
22:37It looks like a cheap flag at the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
22:43It was important for you to be true to yourself.
22:45I'm just like floored that I pulled this dress out of my ass in the last minute
22:51and it actually was the right cut for her I should have done earlier yesterday.
22:56I'm really confident about my dress.
22:58My model looks beautiful in it and I think it shapes her body really well.
23:02I feel like he's using this story about his dress just because it's so short and so tight
23:08and like it doesn't really read gala party.
23:12I love it.
23:13It's exactly what I want it right here.
23:15This almost makes having heart surgery worth it.
23:18Awww.
23:19Okay, let's go get your doll up.
23:23She wants a lot of...
23:24Are we thinking Ferra Fawcett?
23:25Make her look fabulous.
23:26It's but more pearl.
23:28Is this to the best?
23:30Yeah, well I mean maybe not so high.
23:33This is a nice experience for you too, right?
23:36Absolutely.
23:39And my husband's birthday was the first day.
23:50This is definitely a fashion emergency of Chernobyl proportions because everyone's running,
23:55everyone's grabbing irons, everyone's pressing the irons, spitting on fabrics.
24:01People are really doing anything they can to scramble to finish their dresses in the last moment.
24:06No.
24:10Alright, Missy.
24:11Okay, I'll be right back.
24:12Just take a second.
24:15Where am I?
24:20Designers, guest models, this is it.
24:24Alright, yay.
24:25We're going down to the runway, follow me.
24:30Amy, are you the last?
24:33That's it.
24:36Welcome to the runway.
24:37As you know in fashion one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
24:50There are 13 of you here and after tonight there will be 12.
24:55Your challenge was to design a dress for the Campbell's Address Your Heart program.
25:00Also for this challenge you design for women whose lives have been impacted by heart disease.
25:07The winning look will be worn at the annual red dress awards during New York Fashion Week
25:12and will be sold on projectrunway.com.
25:15Alright, let's meet the judges.
25:17First we have top American designer Michael Kors.
25:20Hey guys.
25:22Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine Nina Garcia.
25:24Hello everyone.
25:26Designer and co-founder of Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
25:30Hello.
25:32Her dresses have been worn by the likes of Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry, and Jennifer Lopez.
25:38We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
25:41One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
25:46Alright, let's start the show.
25:47I'm so happy with how happy Christina is when she comes out on the runway.
25:55And I think I really gave her that classic elegance with a few tweaks here and there to keep it modern and keep it fresh.
26:09The dress expresses my voice, yes, but it's more my client's voice.
26:12And this is one challenge where I let her take the lead and I think we got what we wanted.
26:23I'm feeling really good about the dress.
26:25It stands out.
26:26It's a little different.
26:27It has a lot of texture in it.
26:29And it has a feminine quality and also sort of an edgy quality, which I love.
26:33She is incredible on the runway.
26:40Anthony found a way to make this full-figured woman look just as classy, confident, and polished as the women who are size 4 and size 6.
26:52I feel pretty confident watching her come down the runway.
26:55I think the dress definitely has my design sensibility in it.
27:00All in all, the design, it suits her very well.
27:07When I'm looking at my dress, I think that it does express me as a designer.
27:10I think that construction is beautiful, the fit's beautiful, and I think that my detail looks amazing.
27:15And the best thing is that I satisfy my client.
27:17Staff is really enjoying herself.
27:27Seeing her so happy, overwhelmed.
27:29My feelings of disappointment in myself about how the garment actually turned out.
27:34I think I really struggle with the super formal evening gown aspect.
27:38I feel great watching Julie.
27:46She just looked very sweet and happy and so cute.
27:50And she told me she's happy with the way it looks and the way it fits.
28:01Everything looks really good.
28:03The look came together really well.
28:04The fit is really right where I want it.
28:05She loves it and I'm really liking what I'm seeing.
28:15She looks stunning.
28:16She looks absolutely amazing and the dress fits and she's able to move in it.
28:21And it's a really great feeling because I know that I did what I needed to do.
28:26She looks so confident and she looks great in the dress.
28:37It looked different than any other dress that was up there.
28:39So I was happy about that.
28:41It just kind of went pow.
28:42I feel like I made a pretty dress, you know, I mean it's not perfect.
28:53But it has a nice hem and I like the flowers and I did my job.
28:59I'm happy with that.
29:00Here comes Rose and my God, she worked that dress like there was no tomorrow.
29:12It definitely expressed my point of view.
29:16She's happy, I'm happy, so we're both good.
29:18If I call your name, please step forward.
29:30Mila.
29:32Maya.
29:34Anna.
29:36Amy.
29:38Jesse.
29:40Jesus, please step forward.
29:42If I have not called your name, congratulations.
29:44Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
29:49You can eat the runway.
29:57The six of you represent the highest and the lowest scores.
30:02One of you will be named the winner.
30:05And one of you will be out.
30:08Let's bring out your models.
30:15Mila, tell us about your look.
30:17Well, when I was looking at the Campbell's dossier, I sort of gravitated towards the star icon and then I just incorporated the logo fabric right here as a trim.
30:28When I saw this dress, it made me smile. I just thought it was really fun, yet it has a sense of classic at the same time, which is really hard to achieve.
30:37I love how you incorporated the branding. I love how you thought about the star. I thought that was brilliant.
30:42I think that this is a dress that maybe not every woman can pull off, but you pulled that dress up really, really well.
30:50I agree, because you just looked like, hey, I own this dress. I'm rocking it. Looks great. So I think job well done.
30:58Jesse, tell us about your look.
31:00I was going for something that worked with her body, so I wanted to cinch the waist and fill the bust.
31:06And then also I was thinking I wanted to have a jacket that she could pair with it.
31:11I think that it's a sweet dress, but I don't think that it stands out enough.
31:16To me, it looks a little costumey, like maybe a little bit of a majorette, like she should have a baton or something.
31:23The use of the branding was not that creative.
31:27Like some sort of strange corsage.
31:30Jennifer, do you have a problem taking the jacket off so we can see?
31:33I would question putting white at that point in the waist. I think that's never flattering on anybody.
31:42I think the neckline is very beautiful, and I think it frames her face very nicely.
31:49If it would have been crepe or something that moved that had a little bit less of a shine, I think you would have been in a much better situation.
31:57Jesus, tell us about your design.
31:59Okay, well we, of course, had to incorporate the labeling, so I decided to incorporate it on the side and pleat it to make it look more elegant.
32:08I also decided to create these straps right here to give it kind of like a glamorous look, and she wanted a short dress.
32:14Michael, what do you think?
32:15Where do I start?
32:18You basically took a checklist of everything that can turn tacky and combined it into one garment.
32:26Tight red satin, that short, plus the built-in straps.
32:32I think perhaps there's just too many elements going on in this dress.
32:35I think if you took maybe the rhinestones away, you would end up with a more successful dress.
32:39I think the eye doesn't quite know where to go when you're looking at it.
32:44I definitely think that you have very good construction skills.
32:47I'm just not sure about your taste.
32:52Less is more.
32:54You have to be very careful of not going overboard with these very cliché items.
33:03Amy, tell us about your look.
33:04For Nadine and I, it was really important that she feels very sexy and confident in her dress.
33:09We wanted to do a strapless top to show off her scar and kind of everything she's been through.
33:15I thought it was really beautiful.
33:18I love the fabric that you picked.
33:20I love the movement of the dress.
33:23It feels very modern, very feminine.
33:26I think the dress is beautiful.
33:27When you walked out, it moved, it walked so beautifully, and you looked so ethereal and confident.
33:32And I could tell that you were really happy in the dress.
33:35You know, the word elegant in today's times can seem old-fashioned.
33:40But what I loved here, it was elegant, but it was modern.
33:45Thumbs up. You look fabulous.
33:48Anna, tell us about your look.
33:50Well, Stephanie and I wanted to go away from sort of a red rectangle.
33:54And so we focused on using color in such a way that would break up and create more of a waist for her.
34:00I do like the bottom half of the dress, but I don't think a racer back silhouette on her, who is broader on the shoulders, is going to help her out.
34:11And I think that the way this is cut, you know, you want it to whittle her waist in, but I actually think it's making her look very broad on top.
34:19And not bringing my eye up to her face.
34:23It doesn't feel to me like an evening dress.
34:25Perhaps the color choice of the flesh is just a touch off.
34:30Maya, tell us about your look.
34:31We talked about having something with a lower neckline that shows her scar.
34:35And she was talking about how she used to cover it up and now she wants to be proud of it.
34:41For me, there's something interesting about this dress.
34:43I feel like there is a design there.
34:45Gives like a nice shape to the body.
34:48I kind of see like a half of a heart.
34:50The effort that you put into the draping is what we found interesting.
34:54And I like the clutch. I thought that was clever.
34:56The dress made me want to look again, and I think that's always a great thing with the dress.
34:59It's very flattering. I think it looks really good on you.
35:02It's interesting and elegant at the same time.
35:05So overall, I think a pretty great job.
35:08Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
35:10We're going to have a little chat, and then I'll call you back.
35:14Thank you very much. You can leave the runway.
35:23Let's start with Jessie.
35:25Jessie.
35:26I don't understand why you would make such a short white jacket.
35:29It still didn't fit.
35:31You know, the shoulder on the jacket was terrible.
35:33Yeah.
35:34However, one thing I did like was his neckline.
35:39From the waist up, the dress was very flattering on her.
35:43Good bosoms.
35:44Yep. Excellent.
35:47Let's move on to Jesus.
35:48I had full flashback to shiny, short, tight, tacky, all of that.
35:58We've seen it before.
35:59And then let's add the crystals on top of it.
36:02It would have been a whole other story without the straps.
36:05He is really good at sewing.
36:07You know, he knows how to make clothes.
36:09It's really, unfortunately, it boils down to taste is something that you just can't learn.
36:15Anna.
36:17This dress was just like a bag tied in the middle.
36:22But I understood where she was coming from from a design point of view.
36:26It felt contemporary and it felt young.
36:29I just felt it was inappropriate for the challenge.
36:32Okay, let's move on to the designers that we did like.
36:37Let's start with Mila.
36:38I love the braiding of the Campbell branding.
36:42I like the star.
36:44I love the neckline.
36:45She put it on the perfect spot.
36:47She really captured the spirit of her model.
36:51And she had fun with it.
36:53I think Amy also did a really beautiful dress.
36:57The way she handled the fabrics was really great.
37:02Yes.
37:03I loved the subtle shine of the charmeuse coming through the chiffon.
37:08So it wasn't a big charmeuse dress.
37:11And I think also it was the right silhouette for her client.
37:15And modern.
37:16She looked chic and modern.
37:19Okay, let's move on to Maya.
37:21I did like it, but I wasn't sure whether I should like it.
37:25It was a strange thing.
37:26I was looking and I was like, I really shouldn't be going for this dress.
37:29But there was something there that kept drawing me back.
37:32And to see something with a little more interest, I think was nice.
37:35There was thought.
37:36There was workmanship.
37:37There was surprise.
37:39It is about heart health.
37:41So she brought the heart, one side of the heart into it.
37:44Right.
37:45She didn't integrate the Campbells.
37:47But I liked the bag.
37:48Yeah, the bag was good.
37:49The bag was cute.
37:52Okay, so we've made our decision.
37:56Good, let's bring them back out.
37:59The six of you will represent the best and the worst.
38:06One of you will be named the winner.
38:08And one of you will be out.
38:10One of you will be named the winner.
38:12And one of you will be out.
38:14Maya, you're in.
38:15You can leave the runway.
38:17Amy, you are the winner of this challenge.
38:21Your dress was elegant, moved beautifully.
38:23And made your client look happy and gorgeous.
38:24Nadine will be very memorable at the Red Dress Gala.
38:28And your dress will be sold on projectrunway.com.
38:29You can leave the runway.
38:30Thank you so much.
38:31It feels really great to finally win a challenge.
38:38You know, it was really important for me to win this one.
38:39So I'm really happy that it turned out the way it did for Nadine and I both.
38:41It's really exciting.
38:42It's an adrenaline rush and I want to keep going.
38:45happy, and gorgeous.
38:47Nadine will be very memorable at the Red Dress Gala,
38:50and your dress will be sold on projectrunway.com.
38:53You can leave the runway.
38:55Thank you so much.
38:56It feels really great to finally win a challenge.
39:00You know, it was really important for me to win this one,
39:02so I'm really happy that it turned out the way it did
39:05for Nadine and I both.
39:06It's really exciting.
39:07It's an adrenaline rush, and I want to keep going.
39:10Mila, another good job.
39:13You're in. You can leave the runway.
39:19Jessie, you're in.
39:22You can leave the runway.
39:30Anna, Jesus, one of you will be out.
39:38Jesus, your dress was trying to be too many things at once.
39:43And ended up looking tacky and cheap.
39:46We again question your taste level.
39:50Anna, you made some serious misjudgments.
39:54This dress was poorly made and unflattering for your client's figure.
40:00Anna, you're in.
40:08You can leave the runway.
40:14I'm sorry, Jesus.
40:16That means you're out.
40:18OK.
40:20It was a great experience.
40:24Bye, thank you.
40:25I'm shocked.
40:26I'm really, really shocked at this point that I've been eliminated from the contest.
40:30Aw, Mila.
40:32Yay!
40:33But you know what?
40:34I'm really happy because I put in my 100%, and I feel that at the end I did satisfy my
40:39client.
40:40Aw, Jesus.
40:41You're awfully good-spirited.
40:42I am.
40:43Yeah?
40:44Yeah.
40:45Thank you so much.
40:46It was a great experience.
40:47It's been a great having you here.
40:48So I have to send you the work room to clean up your space.
40:50Cool.
40:51All right?
40:51OK.
40:52We'll see more of you.
40:52Yeah, you guys will.
40:53Bye.
40:54I'm only 21.
40:55There's so much more of Jesus Estrada that people are going to see out there.
40:59Everything the judges told me, I am going to take with me, and that's just going to make
41:03me a really, really strong designer in the future.
41:17We'll see you next time.
41:45Bye.
41:46Bye.
