00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03All of these women are recently divorced and want to turn these wedding dresses into hip, cool outfits.
00:09You've got a lot of work to do.
00:11You cannot lose who you are as a designer.
00:15The core of this look has to be from the wedding dress.
00:18I misunderstood the assignment, so I'm changing it.
00:21Jordana, congratulations. You are the winner of this challenge.
00:31Thank you so much.
00:32When this came out, I'm like, she's going to the Oktoberfest.
00:35That means, Epperson, you're out.
00:38This is Project Runway.
00:40Of course I'm the best.
00:41The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:43I have to win. I'm in, you're out.
00:46I'm the best designer here.
00:48I have no fear. Make it work.
00:50That's my one. This is my dream.
00:52For these 16 designers, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
00:58The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine,
01:02a Paris vacation courtesy of Avion,
01:05and $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start the online.
01:09I'm here for one reason. I'm here to make it to Fashion Week.
01:20I started out so strong, and now I've been in the bottom a couple times.
01:24I mean, she just looks like tinfoil. It's like a metallic hefty bag just cinched.
01:29Okay.
01:30Now I have to stand up and say, this is it. This is what I can do.
01:33And go big. Go huge.
01:36But not too huge to scare the judges.
01:38I definitely deserve to be here. Especially in the last challenge, my strengths really kicked in, and I prove myself a little bit.
01:46I love this dress on her.
01:48I can see you walking off the runway and just going out in that tonight.
01:51I'm feeling pretty good.
01:53I don't feel like just because I haven't won a challenge yet means that I'm in the middle of the pack.
01:59I've still never been in the bottom.
02:01You could say that slow and steady wins the race.
02:06F-I-G-M, here we come.
02:08All right, girl, let's go.
02:10Let's do this!
02:21Hello.
02:22Hi.
02:23I think it's time for your next challenge.
02:25Jordana, you won the last challenge, so you have immunity this week and cannot be eliminated.
02:30Congratulations.
02:32Well, we're down to eight designers, and it is time to take the competition to the next level.
02:38For this challenge, if you really want to shine, then your look must upstage the rest.
02:44Tim is waiting for you at a spectacular location, and he has someone with him that I think you'll be quite excited to meet.
02:56Oh, and did I forget to mention that there will be no immunity for this challenge?
02:59Or any of the rest of them?
03:02Hurry up and go.
03:03Have fun.
03:04And I'll see you on the runway.
03:05Bye.
03:06Bye.
03:07Bye.
03:08Bye.
03:09Bye.
03:10Bye.
03:11Bye.
03:12Heidi gives us a clue that there's an opportunity to shine.
03:17We know we're going to be meeting to somebody very big.
03:23We walk in and standing in front of me is the legend himself, Bob Mackie.
03:28Good morning, designers, and welcome to the museum at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
03:34Please join me in giving a special welcome to fashion legend Bob Mackie.
03:40Bob Mackie. Wow. Is this really happening?
03:45Mr. Mackie is frequently referred to as the Sultan of Sequins, and if you look behind us, you'll see why.
03:53His incredible creations have been worn by every Hollywood icon, from Diana Ross to Cher to Tina Turner to Madonna.
04:08Designers, for this challenge, you will be creating an extravagant stage look.
04:15And Mr. Mackie is going to tell you more about it.
04:18Hello, designers. Listen, I have to tell you, this is not fashion.
04:22This is a whole other place. This is the stage.
04:26When you're designing for the stage, you have to take it many steps above.
04:29It's not the red carpet. It's not a party.
04:31You want that audience to get excited before they even open their mouth.
04:34Take your designs to another level.
04:36Take it to another period, another goddess from some mythological kingdom.
04:41Just go for it, okay?
04:42I almost fainted because it has been my dream to meet the man himself.
04:49I'm standing in front of Bob Mackie.
04:51So you're going to be designing a stage look in the manner of Bob Mackie with a very particular performer in mind.
04:58Wow.
04:58She is a five-time Grammy-winning, multi-platinum album-selling artist.
05:04And she's an individual who sets trends and her own rules when it comes to her fashion, both on and off the stage.
05:11Designers, you're creating a look for...
05:14Christina Aguilera.
05:15Christina Aguilera.
05:19This is by far the best Project Runway moment ever.
05:24I get very excited about when I'm designing for a huge venue.
05:27And you have to think, are you going to see that person from a mile away?
05:30But you have to also think about those video screens on each side that come in really close.
05:35So it's kind of like you're working for the stage and for the movies, really.
05:40So your responsibility here is to create an awesome, staggering look and to wow Mr. Mackie and Christina Aguilera.
05:49So you will have 30 minutes here to sketch.
05:52Then we're going shopping at Mood, where you'll have a budget of $300.
05:56And designers, you have two days for this challenge.
06:00Mr. Mackie, thank you so much.
06:02Designers, your sketching time starts now.
06:05This is not just an average woman.
06:11This is Christina Aguilera.
06:13She's an icon.
06:14And to create an iconic look for an icon is frightening and exciting and exhilarating.
06:22I don't really have like a complete solid design.
06:25But overall, I'm more of a person that is inspired by the fabric when I find it.
06:29My work that I do for theater and for film is very grand and feathers and lace and crystals and just ombre.
06:39I think that this challenge has a lot more pressure than previous ones because I don't usually make things that are just for show or avant-garde.
06:48I think I need to show the judges that I can push it farther.
06:52Designers, time's up.
06:53We need to put our pencils down and head off to move.
06:55Designers, you have your $300 budget.
07:00You have 30 minutes to shop.
07:02Your time starts right now.
07:04Go, go, go.
07:06How much are the feathers?
07:08No black.
07:08I get everything.
07:10People are running rampant.
07:12They're grabbing anything that has any sort of shine, sheen, sequins, beads.
07:17Feathers.
07:18Leather.
07:19Fur.
07:21I have no idea what I'm making.
07:23My strategy is to buy as many different things as I possibly can and figure it out later.
07:29Not enough time.
07:30I must buy everything.
07:33I'm going to, I can't hold a line.
07:36Two yards of this, two yards of this.
07:39A lot of the designers are grabbing already like sequined fabric that's already pre-made and they're going to be making outfits out of that.
07:45Bob Mackie takes multiple different fabrics and puts them all together to create his own patterns and that's how I always work.
07:54Designers, you have five minutes remaining.
07:57My total is 55.
07:59Okay, more feathers.
08:01Hurry, hurry, hurry.
08:03Okay, great.
08:06Designers, time's up.
08:08Let's head back to the workroom, all right?
08:11Thank you, Mood.
08:11Thanks, Mood.
08:16Oh my gosh.
08:19This challenge, I'm going to blast the industry with my knowledge.
08:23You give me some sequins, some lace, and some feathers and I will create you a couture garment.
08:29Sequin party.
08:32You can definitely tell the people who know what they're doing and they got the right fabric and they're feeling good.
08:38I feel like I just had Christmas.
08:39I'm like, ah!
08:41And then you see the sort of stressed out deer in the headlights look.
08:48Oh, this red is so awful.
08:50They're staring at their fabric and you know they just have no idea what to do with this stuff.
08:55This color looks like a bad prom dress.
08:58It's really red.
09:00It's like how Dracula red.
09:01I know.
09:02Well, I'm covering it up with something else, so hopefully, yeah.
09:06But we have four challenges left, including this one.
09:10Four.
09:11That's it.
09:12That's it.
09:13Just so you know.
09:14No pressure.
09:14My concept is based on this 80s punk prom kind of look.
09:28And there's going to be a beaded corset and a fun little short skirt underneath it.
09:33I don't know if I have enough sequins.
09:39I really don't know what Carole Hanna bought.
09:42She bought this, like, cheap, crappy-looking Halloween costume fabric.
09:48Where are you going with all that?
09:49I don't know.
09:51I haven't decided.
09:52The pressure of this challenge, along with the fact that this is pretty much a stretch for me, is causing me to hesitate a little.
10:01I really don't know what to do here.
10:03I don't normally do things that's over the top.
10:06I never do things that's over the top.
10:11Do you think this is too simple?
10:15Too simple?
10:16Crazy sequins with a print.
10:18Stuff on the side.
10:19Chains lined in pink.
10:21That's not too simple.
10:22Okay.
10:22I don't follow Christina Aguilera.
10:24I think it's close as a lot of the other designers.
10:27So I hope that she likes zebra print.
10:29And I hope she's not bothered that I'm using some furs.
10:32This is what will keep you warm in the blizzard.
10:34Nice.
10:36Where are you guys taking my jacket?
10:37I'm...
10:38Oh!
10:38Oh!
10:41Ow!
10:42Ow!
10:42Ow!
10:43Ow!
10:43Ow!
10:44Ow!
10:45Ow!
10:46Ow!
10:47Ow!
10:48Ow!
10:49Ow!
10:50Ow!
10:51Ow!
10:51Ow!
10:52Ow!
10:53Ow!
10:53Yeah!
10:54In about a day, we're gonna be sitting in front of Bob Mackie and Christina Aguilera.
10:56I don't think project Runaway has ever had such two huge stars together.
11:03I think I have taken on two ambitious projects.
11:05Is the whole gown gathered?
11:07Yeah.
11:08That's ambitious.
11:09I know.
11:10But you know, we've got two days.
11:12You have immunity.
11:13Having immunity is really nice, but I have to say this is not something that I will be the most proud of.
11:25How is that the tape?
11:27You take the tape off and all the beads fall off.
11:29Oh, no.
11:30Jordana definitely is struggling with this challenge.
11:32The beads were coming off in strands, like rows of them.
11:37It's falling apart every time I cut it.
11:39It's just like, everything goes down.
11:42I know you don't want to rely on that, but you do have immunity.
11:46I know that, but it's like...
11:49I'm just down today.
11:51I'm just too frazzled.
11:57Oh.
12:00I'm just going to get away from it.
12:02Good night, gorgeous dresses.
12:11Coming up on Project Marley.
12:14What is that?
12:15I have been kind of struggling.
12:17Oh my God!
12:20Stupid dress.
12:21Sorry, I curse.
12:22It looks like it's for a 16-year-old's really bad prom.
12:25It's not like you're starting from square one.
12:41You still have all that, that ruching stuff, don't you?
12:44I am starting from square one.
12:46Oh.
12:46I just have to be P.D. Gonzalez.
12:50I'm going to start completely over.
12:52I decided that what I was working on, I just didn't like it.
12:57And instead of fixing it, I just decided to just toss it and start all over again.
13:03I have really high expectations for this challenge.
13:11I really want to just come back and sort of blow everyone away.
13:15I mean, I'm out to win it for sure.
13:17My dress definitely moves.
13:22I still am trying to figure out what to do with her upper part because I know Christina
13:27likes to show off the girls.
13:28She's going to put on some skates and she's going to skate down the, skate across the stage.
13:33The whole look is completely wearing me out right now because it's so much feather work
13:38and just the intricate placing of the lace.
13:40I decided to focus on Hollywood, you know, 1940s glamour look.
13:46I have this big old dress and I'm putting these inserts and covering that with chiffon
13:51and it's just, it's a lot.
13:55I don't really know what Shirin is making.
13:58I'm not really sure if Shirin knows what Shirin is making, but it's everywhere.
14:02It's all over the floor, it's in the hall, it's in the sewing room, it's everywhere.
14:08How is everyone?
14:10Hey, Tim.
14:11So, Christopher, talk to me.
14:13This comes off all in one piece.
14:16Just tears away.
14:18Underneath is a different look.
14:21Here's my general disappointment.
14:22Yes, yes.
14:23There is a primness to this whole look.
14:25If you're going to have a reveal, it should be super sexy slut or something.
14:29This is 1999 in the costume department as an ice skating Halloween outfit.
14:37Thank you, Tim.
14:37There's a lot of pressure when you're designing for Christina Aguilera.
14:41I need this.
14:43Most of the other designers have dressed celebrities and I've never came anywhere close to a celebrity.
14:49Althea.
14:50Althea.
14:50Hey.
14:51First look is like huge jacket and then when the model gets to the end of the stage, the jacket comes off and it's like a wow look with this, you know, gorgeous sequined dress.
15:02You and Christopher, you're both thinking about this, she comes out on a pumpkin and pops out.
15:07Thank you, Althea.
15:12Hi, Jordana.
15:13Hey, Tim.
15:14So talk to me about this.
15:16Oh, my gosh.
15:17I'm worried about it.
15:18It looks very matron-like.
15:20I know, but it's just like I'm so mentally not here right now.
15:25Jordana, you have a lot to work out.
15:27I know.
15:28I cannot be eliminated for this challenge.
15:31I'm safe.
15:32But I still want to have something nice to send down the runway.
15:36I'm a designer.
15:37This is my name that's being represented.
15:40Nicholas.
15:43I thought you moved your winning look over here for inspiration.
15:46I thought that's what you were working on.
15:50This is a new look?
15:51Yeah, this is a new look.
15:53Good God.
15:54Talk about deja vu.
15:55I feel like we've seen this look before.
15:57Uh-oh.
15:58It is kind of an uh-oh.
15:59And the last thing you want is the judges to label you as a one note and say,
16:03we've already seen this dress.
16:05Ratchet this up.
16:07Thank you, Nicholas.
16:08All right.
16:08Thank you, Tim.
16:10I'm really praying that Tim is wrong.
16:12I want to get in front of Bob Mackie tomorrow.
16:15Whether they trash me or whether they put me in the top three,
16:18I do not want to be safe tomorrow.
16:20Carol Hannah.
16:21I wanted to do something from, like, glam to really sexy.
16:24But there's not, I haven't been able to figure out a way to take this
16:28and turn it into something short without it looking like the ice capades.
16:32You're right.
16:32So.
16:33You're absolutely right.
16:35I don't really need to take this off.
16:36You don't.
16:37I kind of like how it is.
16:38I think you can have a major wow factor here.
16:41And I can see this being very Christina.
16:43Okay.
16:44Thank you, Tim.
16:46Okay, Sharon.
16:47What are you thinking?
16:48I'm thinking this looks like Guinevere meets Vampyra.
16:54Oh, God, that's not a good thing.
16:55I associate you with a sophistication and a level of execution that is extremely high.
17:02This looks like student work.
17:05You don't like any, anything about it?
17:08No.
17:09It looks like it's for a 16-year-old's really bad problem.
17:13Am I just scrap this?
17:14I'm not telling you to do that, but something's got to happen with it.
17:18Okay.
17:18Thank you, Sharon.
17:19Thank you, Tim.
17:20I just don't know why Sharon is still here.
17:23Way better designers than her are out, and Sharon is still here.
17:27Her design sensibility is very sort of bargain basement.
17:31I just don't see her as a designer, even.
17:36Designers, a few of you have lost your way.
17:38You will regain it.
17:40I know you will, but you're going to have to work like there's no tomorrow,
17:42because for one of you, there won't be.
17:53Tim is like a tornado.
17:55It's kind of calm and mellow, and everybody's about their daily lives.
17:59And all of a sudden, things are getting ripped up,
18:01and sequins are flying everywhere,
18:03and everyone's trying to really put together their look again after the damage.
18:08Oh, God, I'm freaking out.
18:12Freaking out!
18:13Well, you should.
18:16Are you scrapping it?
18:17Yeah.
18:18Well, that's a big change to me,
18:21and to, you know, you need to stand behind your designs.
18:25What if I put the black sequin?
18:27Hang on.
18:28I do agree with what Tim said,
18:35so I'm going to take those comments and do whatever I can to the dress.
18:40I love you.
18:43Guess who we're designing a concert costume for?
18:46So, Christina Aguilera.
18:47It's all going to be connected,
18:50and it's just, boom, and then drag it with you.
18:53You have to work this.
18:55That's cool.
18:56I don't have to do much because it's gorgeous.
18:59I have to work Miracle on this dress.
19:02Stupid dress.
19:03Sorry, I curse.
19:05It fits you pretty well, thank God.
19:07I've already changed a lot since I met with Tim.
19:09It fits ebony like a glove.
19:11Oh, my God.
19:12It looks so much better with the black.
19:14I just need to find a way to make it work.
19:17I'm going to do this.
19:19I'm going to do this.
19:19You are.
19:20Plaza, guys.
19:21Plaza.
19:21Plaza.
19:32It's nearly nine o'clock.
19:34That's lovely.
19:36I'm 99% sure that by the time I leave here,
19:39I'm going to have sewn through my finger.
19:42Carol Hannah is, she's this funny little, like, kind of southern belle.
19:47I don't expect half the things to come out of her mouth, do you?
19:51Hmm.
19:52I had some pineapple and now I feel very obese.
19:55When I'm 50, I will look like my mother.
19:58If I leave here without a single feather on this thing,
19:59I'm going to have a heart attack.
20:02What's wrong with me?
20:04She's on the same work table as me.
20:06She's been a lot of fun getting to know.
20:08Am I distracting?
20:15Perhaps.
20:16Am I?
20:18Really?
20:19Logan's my friend.
20:22He's really hot.
20:24It's really distracting.
20:28I'm, like, the only person in the world that this would happen to.
20:30I'm blessing.
20:34Stop.
20:41Look at my dress.
20:47Ta-da!
20:49Oh, my God!
20:51Everybody seems like they're going nuts.
20:53I'm hiding.
21:00People are slowly starting to sort of break down and crack.
21:04Do you need a minute?
21:06No, I need to do this.
21:09Can we get some help?
21:11Crazy people.
21:13Coming up on Project One Lake.
21:15Carol Ann annoys the **** out of me.
21:17Irina is actually a really good designer.
21:19The only problem with her is that she's a bitch.
21:21Ten minutes, everybody.
21:25Is anyone listening?
21:36Ow!
21:38Glitter everywhere.
21:40I'm probably more nervous than I have been at any other runway.
21:44My dress isn't exactly where I would want it to be.
21:47I'm just trying to use the time I have to do the best that I can.
21:52Oh, this reminds me of New York.
21:54It's like all the sparkles.
21:57This challenge has been a lot of fun compared to the other ones because you can sort of let loose.
22:02I'm pretty confident that I will be in the top three, but you never know.
22:06It is a giant nine-foot-long sequined dress, and some people might not go for that.
22:16Good morning, designers.
22:18Morning, Tim.
22:19All right, I'm about to send in your models.
22:21You will have two hours to send them to the Garnier Hair Studio and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room,
22:25and, of course, to fit them.
22:27Please use the Macy's accessory wall thoughtfully.
22:31All right, I'm going to send in your models.
22:34Nice, Tim.
22:36Good morning.
22:37Hey.
22:38Hi.
22:38How are you going to get quiet in this little room?
22:40It looks sexy.
22:42Yeah, it's short because you're going to shock your legs.
22:45Considering that Bob Mack is my idol, I really can't choke on this one.
22:50My outfit looks absolutely amazing on Kaelin, but I'm so confused.
22:55Everybody has these gowns, and there's reveals, and you'd expect an elephant come flying from the rafters.
23:01I did a little dress.
23:03You look really hot.
23:05Look at this.
23:07Isn't this amazing?
23:09Gorgeous.
23:09I really like this.
23:11My biggest concern is working the feathers into the dress because without them, it's really just a boring black sequin dress.
23:21I've never sewn feathers on anything before.
23:24I really like them.
23:26Carol, Hannah, the little one, the blonde, annoys the f*** out of me.
23:30She's so mediocre.
23:32I just feel like if you're mediocre, just like at least have a great personality.
23:37Irina is actually a really good designer.
23:39The only problem with her is that she's a b***h.
23:41I just really wish that she was a little bit nicer to people and not treat everybody like they work for her.
23:47What if I snap it off and a snap goes flying across the room and hits Christina in the head?
23:51Then we can auction that snap off for a lot of money.
23:55Ow!
23:56Ow my eye!
23:57My point of view is a little odd and a little different.
24:00With a bustier and sparkle panties, you can't ask for anything more.
24:06Almost like a Barbie hair look, but sleek back super tight.
24:10Glam, glam, glam.
24:12More rock and roll than Christina, I guess.
24:16The dress is super glamorous.
24:17It's super glamorous.
24:18I love it.
24:21All right, have a good show.
24:23Thank you, baby.
24:27Designers, you have ten minutes.
24:30Ten minutes, everybody.
24:34Do you like it?
24:35I love it.
24:36I'm cutting it a little bit close, but I'm starting to get pretty excited about it.
24:41Anything that could go wrong with me this challenge is going wrong with me.
24:45But there is nothing I can do about it right now.
24:50Nothing.
24:52Everything is taking so much longer than it should.
24:55I definitely took on more for this challenge than I probably needed to.
24:59I could have just made a short little dress, and I would have been done a lot sooner.
25:03Designers and models, we're going to the runway.
25:08This is it.
25:09All right.
25:10Everyone follow me, please.
25:15Is anyone listening?
25:19Okay, that's it, everybody.
25:21Coming up on Project Runway.
25:23I see like an upscale witch Halloween dress.
25:26I wouldn't put that on a chorus girl behind the star.
25:29That was tasteless.
25:33Welcome to the runway.
25:42As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
25:46This week, you met the legendary Bob Mackie, and had to create a stage look worthy of a superstar.
25:53So we hope to see a very exciting runway today.
25:57All right, let's meet the judges.
25:59First, we have fashion costume and home designer Bob Mackie,
26:03who counts Cher and Tina Turner among his celebrity clientele.
26:07Next, we have fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
26:11And I have a little surprise for you.
26:13Designers, I would like to introduce international pop star and fashion icon, Christina Aguilera.
26:28I'm really excited to be here, and I'm very, very curious, so I can't wait.
26:34Me too.
26:34All right, let's start the show.
26:42I can definitely see Christina on stage in my dress.
26:46It's one of those garments that you'll be able to see from a million rows back.
26:50It's definitely a showstopper.
26:52I'm really excited watching Koji come down the runway.
26:58It's definitely on the brink of being costumey, but I think it's really fun, and I hope that Christina understands that.
27:06As I see my design come down the runway, I think that it definitely has movement to it.
27:13It didn't turn out exactly like I would have wanted, but what are you going to do?
27:20When I see Katie, I'm just giggling because it's a showpiece.
27:25It's the only one with a true reveal where there's really a second outfit.
27:28I can see Christina 100% wearing my outfit.
27:39I really won't know until Heidi calls us out on stage, but I'm hoping to be number one.
27:48It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be.
27:51I just really only see the finished look, and I just don't want them to think that I'm slacking.
28:00It's always nerve-wracking.
28:02No matter how good you think your look is, you're always like, but what if?
28:06Like, they just don't get it.
28:09It's really a matter of what Christina's looking for.
28:14I wasn't really sure what direction I was going to take this, but I did want to make an impact.
28:19I think it did that, so I'm pleased.
28:29Irina, please step forward.
28:33Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
28:36You can leave the runway.
28:42Jordana, please step forward.
28:45You should be grateful this week that you have immunity.
28:49Because otherwise, there would have been a good chance that you'd be eliminated today.
28:54I had a complete meltdown.
28:56The beats started falling apart.
28:59It was like disaster.
29:00That's the way it looked, too.
29:02I know.
29:03You can leave the runway.
29:10The remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores.
29:14One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
29:19Let's bring out your models.
29:28Carol, Hannah, tell us about your look.
29:30I'll be honest with you.
29:31This challenge was kind of a stretch for me because I'm not used to working with sequins and feathers.
29:36So I decided to really focus on one high glamour piece.
29:41For someone that's not used to working with glitz and glam, I think you did a really great job.
29:45The materials really come off well on stage.
29:48I could totally see myself in it.
29:51It looks very glamorous.
29:54It has the promise to turn into something a little more revealing.
29:59Had you been able to engineer a way to get rid of that bottom half?
30:04Originally, the plan was for it to come off here.
30:07It looked like an ice skating uniform to me.
30:10Well, one thing you don't want to look like is about ice skating.
30:12I love the textures of blacks, the shiny black, the feather black, the matte black.
30:19It's very sophisticated.
30:20It is wow.
30:21It is a wow dress.
30:22It does look good in that dress.
30:23It does not look cheap.
30:27Sharon, are you confident with this look?
30:29Not terribly.
30:30You know, I'm very much about construction.
30:33I mean, you've seen my other work.
30:34I wanted it to be really extravagant and really dramatic.
30:37And so I kind of took on a lot.
30:39But for me, I see like an upscale witch Halloween dress.
30:44There needs to be that pointy black hat and a broom.
30:48And it would be a perfect Halloween outfit.
30:51When I was watching her walk down the runway, I was like I would totally trip in something like that.
30:58Can you open that skirt so I can just see what those things are?
31:01Are they all different?
31:03No, they're just sheer.
31:04They're just sheer?
31:05Yeah.
31:05I did like the top half, but there's a disconnect between that top half that had a glimmer of promise with the rest of this Carmen Miranda moment in the bottom.
31:19Althea, tell us about your look.
31:22I wanted to, you know, step up the glamour, but give it a little bit of an edge as well.
31:27And really create a huge silhouette that was just no mistaking that this is the star here.
31:34What is the gray strips?
31:36What is that made of?
31:36Actually, it's the other side.
31:37Is it the back side of the fabric?
31:39Yeah, it's the back side of the fabric.
31:40Very clever.
31:41Works beautifully.
31:43Can we have a look at the back?
31:45I think the back looks really great on her bum.
31:50It does look spectacular, and I think that someone in row 2200 would see her from far away.
31:55Couldn't miss her.
31:56You can't miss her.
31:57I agree that it's a very nicely made dress.
32:01I don't know if you thought about the fact that she will have to move and that a train might be cumbersome.
32:08But then again, depends on if it is like, I don't know, draped on a piano.
32:13I don't know all the moves you do, but maybe like the bull riders.
32:17I don't know about the bull riding moves.
32:19You lost me on that one.
32:21Well, I think there's a reason I'm not a choreographer.
32:23It's a beautiful dress.
32:28Christopher, tell us about your look.
32:29Well, as you can see, I took a little different perspective on this piece than some of the other designers.
32:34I channeled this moment of you covering a Cyndi Lauper song and then a reveal into one of your songs.
32:42Would you take it off?
32:43Not loving those pants.
32:47Oh.
32:47Not loving the top either, though.
32:49Why?
32:51It's like a revisit of Lady Marmalade.
32:55I am worried that everything that I have seen here is something that has been done and seen before.
33:02You've got to make a better corset from that.
33:06I wouldn't put that on a chorus girl behind the star.
33:10I'm sorry.
33:11I'm sorry.
33:12My pride.
33:13I give this outfit a big, huge, fat E for effort.
33:17Because I just love the fun that you put into it.
33:20Like, I liked your whole Cyndi Lauper sort of vision.
33:23But it just didn't quite add up.
33:26Okay.
33:26Nicholas, tell us about your look.
33:31When I first found out it was Christina, I definitely wanted to do something short.
33:34And I definitely went with a sort of deco feel to it because I really love the silver and the platinums.
33:39I think it's quite beautiful.
33:41I can totally see you wear that.
33:42Could you see yourself wear this?
33:43I could.
33:44The first thing I thought of when I saw it was this is a fun outfit.
33:49I could totally move in it.
33:50I can really shake.
33:51It would really, like, move on stage.
33:53Really pretty.
33:54Really, really pretty.
33:56I love the way you would attach the feathers.
33:58I love the way it works.
34:00It would be a great work dress for a singer that needs to get around the stage fast and dance and move.
34:05I wish it had something else with it.
34:08But I do like the dress.
34:12Logan, tell us about your design.
34:14I wanted to create a look that Christina hasn't really done and isn't doing right now.
34:19So this is kind of like this punk rock princess.
34:23She's got the chains on the back and it's just more of an edgy look.
34:26Let's just talk about the chains for a minute.
34:28Okay.
34:29Do you think three chains are going to cut it to make a statement?
34:32Dramatic.
34:35It's giving me cavewoman a little bit with the sleeves cut off.
34:39But it's nice to see a little bit of color thrown in the mix of everything.
34:42There is more color on the inside.
34:44It's fully lined with the pink.
34:45Really?
34:46Yeah, it's like a pink.
34:46Where?
34:48It's kind of tucked under right now.
34:50When are you going to see that and how are you going to see that?
34:52You know what would have been nice is if it stopped at a high bikini kind of line.
34:56The inside would flap open.
34:58So when you did see it, it's like, oh my God, what was that?
35:01Right.
35:02I think you took a chance as opposed to arrest.
35:06You have done something very safe.
35:08I wish you would have really gone and ran with it.
35:11Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
35:16We're going to have a little chat.
35:17And then I call you back.
35:19You can leave the runway.
35:19Okay, let's start with Nicolas.
35:34It was really fun.
35:35And I'm a hip mover.
35:36So he gave me a lot of movement below the waist, which was nice.
35:39It was short.
35:40It was sexy.
35:40It was the right color.
35:42He thought about the fact that it was before stage and it was suiting her body type.
35:47All right, let's talk about Carol Hanna.
35:51It was all put together very interestingly.
35:53To be honest with you, I'm not a big believer in black for stage.
35:58But the detail looked really glamorous.
36:00The textures of black were beautiful.
36:02Yes.
36:03She technically is a really good designer.
36:06It was definitely impressive.
36:08Yes.
36:09Very chic.
36:11Okay, let's move on to Althea.
36:13I love how she really constructed the different shapes.
36:16It was beautifully brought out and how those pieces hugged the body.
36:20She knows how to slim it, to make it more hourglass.
36:23I mean, all these things are all tricks.
36:25It looked very beautiful.
36:28Let's talk about those that we didn't like.
36:31Shirin.
36:32That was very unfortunate because I do think Shirin is talented.
36:38She does have a very meticulous hand.
36:41I don't know what went wrong here.
36:43And so dowdy, too.
36:45It just didn't look like that much thought went into it.
36:50Let's move on to Christopher.
36:52That was tasteless.
36:54It looked like the road company of the pussycat dolls.
36:59It was awful.
36:59It was awful.
37:00And the fact that he would show something that Christina had already done and show it so badly.
37:07I mean, we all remember you doing that.
37:09Right.
37:09I mean, have you been under a rock?
37:11Why try to even go there?
37:12Why try to even go there?
37:13Makes no sense.
37:14All right, let's move on to Logan.
37:18Who said it would look that little cavewoman?
37:20I did.
37:21You did look a little cavewoman.
37:23You so nailed it.
37:24Well, because also with the animal pattern, it did go to the cavewoman place.
37:29I just think at least it is still a little bit hip and a little youthful.
37:32Well, it was too long to be a short dress and too short to be a long...
37:36And, you know, on stage, a short dress can go right up to the crotch and be perfectly fine.
37:40Yeah.
37:40You put diamonds on the crotch and you're home free.
37:43Yes.
37:43Love it.
37:44Forget the sparkles.
37:47We're into diamonds now.
37:51Okay, so we've made our decision.
37:55All right, let's bring them back up.
38:09The six of you represent the best and the worst.
38:13One of you will be named the winner.
38:14And one of you will be out.
38:17The six of you represent the best and the worst.
38:28One of you will be named the winner.
38:30And one of you will be named the winner.
38:33One of you will be named the winner.
38:35Althea, you're in.
38:39One of you will be named the winner.
38:40One of you will be named the winner.
38:41The winner.
38:41The winner.
38:41Christina, would you like to tell us who won this challenge?
38:49The winner of this challenge
38:51Is Carol Hanna
38:55You made a really well-constructed and beautiful dress
39:00It was really flattering to the body
39:03The way it hugged every curve
39:05And I would totally see myself wearing it
39:07And who knows, maybe one day in the future
39:08You may see me in it
39:10Wow
39:11Congratulations
39:13Thank you
39:15You can leave the runway
39:16I'm really excited
39:20We've been here for a while
39:25And I feel like I've done some really cool things
39:29And it's great to be recognized
39:32Thank you
39:33Nicholas, you're in
39:39You can leave the runway
39:40Thank you
39:40Thank you
39:41Logan, you're in
39:51You can leave the runway
39:52Thank you
39:54Shiren, Christopher, one of you will be out
40:06Christopher, your outfit was an inexpensive repeat of Christina's Lady Marmalade look
40:15The thing about a reveal
40:17The thing about a reveal is that what's underneath has to intrigue or seduce us
40:21And this just didn't
40:23Shiren, you admitted that you lost yourself in this challenge
40:29And we agree
40:31This outfit was an inexpensively
40:34This outfit was an inexpensive
40:34But more than that
40:35This look really bored us
40:38Shiren, you're out
40:46That means Christopher, you're in
40:52You can leave the runway
40:53Thank you
40:54It's definitely hard because when you want something so bad and then it's just it's over
41:08It feels like a dream but I'll wake up tomorrow and it will be a reality and I'll just have to deal with it
41:27So Shiren, I have to send you to the work room to clean up your space, okay?
41:30It's fine, it's very nice to meet you, Tim
41:32It really was
41:33It was great working with you
41:34Great
41:35I have to trust in my talent and I still have a long way to go and I'm not going to give up
41:43It's not my personality, it's not the way I was brought up
41:45You just have to suck it up, deal with it, and see what else is in store for you
41:50Next time on Project Runway
41:55Tim is going to take you on a little trip to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills
41:59His dress looks like something an Amish woman would wear
42:03It was pretty clear from the beginning that Irina wasn't really here to make friends
42:07If she pushes your back, push her right back
42:10Had a little mental breakdown
42:11If it looks like crap coming down the runway, they don't really care how much detail you put in the top
42:16Please follow me, we're going to the runway
42:18Unbelievable
42:19For me, unwearable
42:21It's just basic clothes
42:22I get where you were going, but you didn't go far enough
42:26It was just ugly
