Muzaffarnagar, U.P.: A suspected case of honour killing has surfaced after 48-yr-old Kheyar allegedly strangled his 20-yr-old daughter Anju for refusing an arranged marriage. Police say he later surrendered; the body has been sent for post-mortem as probe continues.

00:00A shocking case of suspected honor killing has emerged from Uttar Pradesh's
00:17Muzaffanagar district, where a father allegedly strangled his 19-year-old daughter
00:21for refusing an arranged match.
00:23The police said 48-year-old Khayar had recently selected a groom for his daughter Anju, but
00:31she opposed the marriage.
00:33Late last night, while Anju was asleep at home, Khear allegedly throttled her to death
00:39in anger.
00:40After the killing, Khear went directly to the local police station and surrendered.
00:44Officers rushed to the house, recovered Anju's body and sent it for post-mortem examination.
00:50Preliminary investigation suggests Anju was in a relationship with another man, which
00:54her family disapproved of.
00:56Police are interrogating Khayar to establish the sequence of events and confirm motive.
