A free biryani giveaway at the inauguration of a newly opened hotel in Telangana's Hanamkonda triggered chaotic scenes on Thursday after a massive crowd gathered to avail of the offer.

The incident took place on July 2 after the management of Surabhi Grand Hotel announced that it would distribute 300 free biryani packets as part of its inaugural celebrations.

According to reports, nearly 1,000 people turned up at the hotel, far exceeding the organisers' expectations. As people rushed to collect the free food packets, the situation turned chaotic, with jostling and pushing reported among those waiting in line.

Police personnel rushed to the spot and brought the crowd under control, preventing any injuries or other untoward incidents.

The hotel management had earlier announced the distribution of 300 free biryani packets to mark the opening of the establishment. The unexpected turnout led to overcrowding outside the hotel before the situation was brought under control by the police.
