00:01Controversial businessman Albert Tay has hinted that he may contest the Chenna
00:05seat in the Negeri Sembilang state election, setting up a possible face-off
00:09with DAP Secretary-General Lok Siu Phuk. Tay, facing multiple bribery charges
00:15linked to an alleged mining license scandal in Sabah, said he had been
00:19approached by a party to contest and was considering the offer. He said his
00:24interest in contesting was driven by dissatisfaction with the leadership of
00:28Pakatan Harapan and DAP. Tay said he has never been a member of any political
00:34party and that this could mark his entry into politics. Responding to Tay, Lok
00:40said his focus remained on serving the people and voters of Chenna, whom he has
00:45represented for three terms. The Transport Minister said contesting in elections is
00:50a democratic right available to all Malaysians. However, he reminded Tay to
00:55change his address first, saying if it's not a Negeri Sembilang address, he cannot contest.
01:02Lok who retained Chenna in the 2023 state election won the seat with a
01:062,200-vote majority. I'm Radeep Gill, FMT.
