Ghaziabad House Fire Mystery: Viral Video Allegedly Shows Businessman Setting Sofa Ablaze, Police Probe Underway

A house fire in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, initially believed to be accidental, has taken a dramatic turn after a viral video allegedly showed businessman Mukesh Gupta setting a sofa on fire inside his home.

The incident occurred on July 1 in Raj Nagar Sector-14 under the Kavinagar Police Station limits. Firefighters brought the blaze under control, preventing a major tragedy as women and children were inside the house.

The viral footage allegedly shows Gupta placing newspaper pieces on a sofa before setting them ablaze. Reports also claim the fire was preceded by a family dispute, with allegations that he assaulted his wife, son and daughter. These claims have not been officially confirmed by police.

Police are verifying the authenticity of the video and investigating whether the fire was deliberately started. No FIR has been registered so far as no written complaint has been received. Authorities said legal action will follow if the allegations are substantiated. An insurance motive has also been speculated online, but police have not confirmed this angle.
