The parents of 33-year-old Sarthak Mattoo, who was killed in a hit-and-run in South Delhi, have released an emotional video appealing for justice, alleging that the accused are roaming free while the family continues to grieve.

Sarthak was fatally hit by a speeding Thar on June 25 while riding his motorcycle to work near Vasant Kunj. The SUV allegedly fled the scene, leaving him critically injured on the road. He was later taken to the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, where doctors declared him dead.

During the investigation, police traced the Thar to a Bengaluru-based private company. The vehicle had been leased to Sagar Saha (29), who allegedly told investigators that his friend, Apurv Singh (30), was driving the SUV at the time of the accident.

Delhi Police said Apurv Singh has been arrested and a case has been registered under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He has been granted bail, while the report of the alcohol test is still awaited.

In the video, Sarthak's father, Surender, alleged that blood samples of the accused were collected nearly 50 hours after the incident and questioned how alcohol could be detected after such a delay. He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the Delhi Police Commissioner to ensure justice for his son.

The grieving father said he was prepared to do whatever it takes, including selling his house and his wife's jewellery, to pursue the case. His wife also alleged that justice was only available to the wealthy and expressed despair over the family's situation.

Police said further investigation is underway.
