A 29-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in Karnataka's Dharwad district. Police have arrested the husband and three others in connection with the murder.

The deceased has been identified as Priyank Kamalakar (29), while the main accused is her husband, Basavaraj Vadder. The incident took place in Khanasi village of Navalgund taluk on June 29.

According to police, Basavaraj, who married Priyank in 2024, had allegedly been harassing her within a year of their marriage, demanding gold and money from her parental family.

Police said he also allegedly taunted Priyank over her weight and claimed she was unable to conceive because she was "fat". She was allegedly strangled to death following the continued harassment.

Priyank's parents were informed about her death on Tuesday morning and later lodged a complaint at Navalgund Police Station.
