A major landmark in San Fernando recently had a facelift by a businessman from the community, and on Tuesday, an official launch was held at the popular One Hundred Steps.

The aim was to not only uplift the community, but create a cultural experience and tourism destination by repainting the location.

Reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh was at the event and tells us more.

01:03mostly displayed around independence day republic day or carnival and on government buildings when
01:10he believes it should be proudly plastered across the country year round he says the painting is diverse
01:17and aims to create a cultural experience and tourism destination for visitors at an official
01:24unveiling on tuesday the parliamentary secretary in the ministry of trade industry and tourism praised
01:30the private initiative it's a lovely project revitalizing the community and it's something
01:36that we could take pattern from in other constituencies to do and bring the residents and everybody together
01:43meanwhile the area's councillor who was able to get the project approved at the city council said
01:50they're hoping to now get schools and other private partners on board to complete the upper
01:56section of the stairway the artwork should be pitched to the schools i want the schools to finish
